He knew how to dress sensibly for the weather! And made by a teacher.

But our less flamboyant Senator served as Senate President Pro Tem :)

Tom Hanks, another incredible man of upstanding character. It feels so good to have the backing of such superstar entertainers to help celebrate the day. To highlight the arts and it’s accomplishments and how much it adds to our daily life, and not have someone denigrate it or devalue it

And very meaningful to be celebrating with all of you fine women. My god, we made it, ladies. It was grueling. But we are here!

I enjoy Carl Hiaasen too for political satire, but I have also enjoyed Christopher Buckley's Boomday - disturbingly relevant today as we weather an epidemic which has made some question our using precious medical resources and dollars to save the elderly, Supreme Courtship, about choosing a new supreme court justice and Judge Hunter - set in the period of the American Revolution. He has many other books I haven't read yet including Thank you for Smoking.

Listening is the oldest and perhaps the most powerful tool of healing. It is often through the quality of our listening and not the wisdom of our words that we are able to effect the most profound changes in the people around us. When we listen, we offer with our attention an opportunity for wholeness. Our listening creates sanctuary for the homeless parts within the other person. That which has been denied, unloved, devalued by themselves and others. That which is hidden.

In this culture the soul and the heart too often go homeless.

Listening creates a holy silence. When you listen generously to people, they can hear the truth in themselves, often for the first time. And in the silence of listening, you can know yourself in everyone. Eventually you may be able to hear, in everyone and beyond everyone, the unseen singing softly to itself and to you. -Rachel Naomi Remen

Running late today ( no special reason ) but wanted you to know -- great entries to read this morning ladies. Starting with fireworks and wow !! Yesterday was a dream and quite a fantastic one.

I might have guessed -- my bil's already complaining that gas prices will skyrocket and other dire predicts. Hey there -- can you let the guy get sworn in before you start your hatchet job, hypocrites.

Grace is always sufficient, provided we are ready to cooperate with it. If we fail to do our share, but rather choose to rely on self-will and self-direction, we shall not only get no help from the graces bestowed us, we shall actually make it impossible for further graces to be given. -Aldous Huxley
