The dog photos are great! Ruth, you look right at home with your son's dogs. What a terrific subject to speak about, Presidential pets! Spookie, your two are adorable! I think you can try Etsy for political dog sweaters.
We became cat people and one reason is because it's easier to come and go and not have to worry about getting back for the dog. I didn't own a cat until I was 40 and was very surprised to learn how much personality they have! I had to say goodbye to my best kitty of 16 years, Peach, in February, and it's still difficult.
Our other cat is Lucy, pictured here, and she's just a tenacious, smart, lovable little cat who adopted us when ds went away to college 8 years ago.

So pretty. We always had cats because we were gone a lot during both the day and many evenings. Since we always had at least two at a time, they didn't seem to mind. And, they got lots of attention when we were home. As has been said, "Dogs have masters, cats have staff."
No one should take anything for granted until Trump is out the door and it is locked behind him

For all you cat people!

I read Politicus USA today and they had the article about the fence. It could well be true. I don't know who was used to put the thing up but it has I think fallen over before -- early on. It is easily defeated as well by those who don't let Trump flimsy fence get in their way. So -- I bet it went down for the second time.

pupmom, that meme is so true! (I just petted my kitty in all the indicated "safe" places).
Trump's disdain for cities with gang violence is hypocritical to the max. So many (although not the majority) of these shootings, at least in Chicago, started as petty arguments. With so many people now packing heat (thanks to the Heller case and Scalia deciding the 2nd Amd. right to bear arms), what could possibly go wrong?
Trump also says if we test less, coronavirus cases would drop. (At least reported ones). So here's a parallel: most of the urban drive-by shootings here have been described as "shots coming from a black (or dark-colored) SUV." So by 45's logic, the way to reduce drive-by shootings is to ban black (or dark-colored) SUVs...or just stop reporting them.

Makes “ perfect “ sense.

Oh this could happen. Don't know for sure how long, but hindsight is often a horror story and this last four yrs. will be the biggest doozie of them all so far. Nothing truly compares to how far south this went and oh how quickly. Moscow Mitch and his merry men just fell right in almost total lock-step. So, yeah, I think it's coming.

This is 'fun' to read and it is the truth, but I for one won't be happy until we have the elution results and ones that will suit all of us here. I feel such concern for the cheating, suppressions and dirty tricks that give the other side not one moment of pause. My hope is that with Biden and Pres. Obama working together they will be up to something that will pose big nullification to a lot of the dirt the other side will attempt to do. Wistful thinking on my part, but they are two very smart men.

Not sure what is up with this female ninny but she is getting to be something of a carbon copy to her creepy orange yo-yo meal ticket to fame and fortune.

(CNN)Dr. Anthony Fauci threw an abysmal first pitch to kick off the historic 2020 Major League Baseball season. But fans of the renowned disease expert clearly don't mind.
A Topps baseball card with a masked Fauci mid-pitch just became the bestselling card in the history of ToppsNow, the company's collection of limited-edition cards.
ToppsNow cards are available for only 24 hours on the Topps site. More than 51,500 Faucis were sold when the card hit the site last week, the company said Monday

Right up there with the renovations to the WH tennis courts. Can you see him playing tennis (visal I opt not to see)? and I cannot see her doing anything which would produce sweat, unlike Michelle Obama and her gardening activities.
She does know how to ride a meal ticket and let's face it she spends a small fortune to cover what she used to display for peanuts. I'd like to borrow her jacket with the snarky message about "not caring". It will be interesting to see if she still hitches her star to his tail after he is the ex-POTUS.

Admittedly, I have mixed feelings about the White House Rose Garden renovation. I love all things regarding the White House building and grounds and have read all kinds of books about it. Plus, I’m a huge lover of botanical gardens and flowering landscapes, All First Families do their share of updating different aspects of the historical home. Yes, the timing couldn’t be worse but Rose Garden plans have been in the works since last year.
Although begun prior to his administration, JFK was the one responsible for turning the garden into what it has become, asking his elegant friend of extraordinary taste, Bunny Mellon, to design the space after seeing elaborate formal gardens at official residences in Europe and wanting that for the White House, too.
In my little town, there seems an enormous amount of home remodeling going on, lots of new fencing and landscaping and roofing. I think the White House still needs maintained even during Covid. A beautiful garden can be a calming presence in the midst of chaos.

I’d rather see the $$ spent on PPE for some hospital that is going under. Sorry Devine. I’m sure it’s lovely as is.

I don't think Dr. Fauci did poorly at all--isn't it his job to keep people from catching stuff?
As to reallocation of Rose Garden-rehab funds to PPE for a troubled hospital, at first blush it makes sense--but there are budgeting rules that make it impossible. People don't understand how gov't, especially the Fed. gov't, is structured. (This is why we need to bring back Civics class, or at least make it a unit in Social Studies like it was when I was in elementary school). Besides, which hospital? Where? Choosing one or two would cause a major backlash; and allocating the money equally to all under-supplied hospitals would result in grants so small as to be meaningless. Nice sentiment, though,

Still no complaints from GOP.

I have been so moved by the beautiful ceremonies for John Lewis. Very powerful tributes to a true American hero.

The service in the rotunda was beautiful, especially those magnificent baritone solos and Rep. Clybourn's speech...and then Lewis doing (in effect) his own eulogy.

I'm thinking about applying to be an election judge this year. They are desperate for people, considering how many retirees don't feel safe being out during the pandemic, and it would be interesting.

I do not like Melania Trump and I'm sure that DEEPLY colors my feelings about her and the Rose Garden. I have nothing but disdain for her orange ( love the way you put that Betrayal ) meal ticket and the same for her. She is such a user. I felt it before but some while back I read where she ( one of the tell all books maybe ) actually was quite enamored of the idea that she could/would be a First Lady. I've admired most of ours -- no matter which side but not the last and more so since the jacket incident.
I watched a lot of the services for John Lewis today as well and did find the Rotunda portion so full of feeling. I really felt the loss as he spoke and was as ambivalent as I usually am. Glad that any suffering is at bay but feeling we needed him here with us longer. He was one in a million.
