Yes, it would be nice to have just one. I am being selfish though since we can spend more time out of doors in the summer and not have to have yards lights on which draws lots of bugs. Also don't have to time walks so accurately either. Since we are out in the country, once it is dark out here with almost no streets lights it can be quite dark and we are under a canopy of trees so it darkens even more and slightly quicker right here at out house.

For years I have said that we should split the difference, either go up or back 30 min, and then leave it alone!

Several states on the west coast voted for permanent daylight savings time year round. They can't implement it until congress gives approval. In the summer it's light until really late so we wear eye masks when we go to bed.

Except it is backwards. For my cats it is the fall back that they object to. Then they believe 4 am is feeding time!

The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.

I never know with my cats. They don't observe time much at all. I leave a bowl of dry food out for them and they eat as needed or wanted mainly. The dogs though need to be fed and the bowls taken up. Elsewise the cats will eat their food. Cat and dog food have very different formulations due to different nutritional needs. Allowing one to eat the other's food is not good. The dogs tend to pick up too much wt. and some cats have a tender system that reacts very badly. We almost lost one of our cats after she pigged out on dog food. I think we suffer a little more with the time change than the animals do.

Goes for dogs too. I don’t free feed, Kris knows how to tell time. Chow time, or dog park time, he knows. Spookie not so much.

We're sure Squeakers has a clock somewhere. He wants his walk at exactly the same time every day. Even if it's not nice outside, he wants to check it himself and decide. Sometimes he doesn't want to farther than the deck which has a roof. We leave dry food out for him all the time. Probably shouldn't because he's overweight. He has the syndrome where a 1/2 full bowl is empty.

We call it EBS: Empty Bowl Syndrome. The bowl does not need to be actually empty of course.

Hmmm, another real estate guy. If his property is doing as poorly as the Trump ones, then I guess he has to wrote a book. What a sordid bunch.

I sort of understand. I've slowly begun to not automatically think of the other guy -- but like Beschloss sometimes I'm astounded that we made it all the way through the longest 4 yrs. of my life. So when I do think of 'him' it is usually for those Reps. who are still heavily into the worship of the absolute worst person on this Earth. They in turn are greedy toads who only want to stay in power so they couldn't get much lower on the totem pole in my view. In some ways they deserve each other and not a one of them should be a part of our government.

A garden that never died eventually would weary. Robbed of springtime, unacquainted with the extraordinary perfume that rises from the soil after it's had its rest, the garden that winter doesn't visit is a dull place. The return every spring of earth's first freshness would never be kept if not for the frosts and rot and ripe deaths of fall. So when I go out from the garden for the last time in autumn, I leave the gate open behind me. -Michael Pollan

Biden just gave an excellent reply to a question at the end of his briefing today to the press on the Rescue plan.
As he left the podium, a reporter yelled out “Can Trump help promote the vaccine to skeptics, especially among the Republicans who are saying that....”
Biden had walked back to the podium to answer the question and interrupted him and said: “I’m hearing a lot of reports asking about this and I discussed it with my team. And they say the thing that has more impact on anything Trump would say to the MAGA folks is what the local doctor and the local preacher, what the local people in the community say. So I urge all local doctors, ministers, priests to talk abut why it’s important to get that vaccine and even after that until everyone is vaccinated to wear a mask.”
Then Biden put his mask on and that was the end of the questions.
I thought it was an excellent answer (hell, I thought it was a planted question!). He used the term Maga folks very casually, it was perfect.

I love the thoroughness in the way Biden speaks. He also said today Gene Sperling, a former top economic official in the last two Democratic presidential administrations, will serve as the coordinator overseeing the implementation of the Rescue plan:
Biden: "Today, Gene will be on the phone with mayors, governors, red states, blue states -- a source of constant communication, a source of guidance and support, and above all, a source of accountability for all of us to get the job done.”
Biden added that the implementation of the relief law "requires fastidious oversight to make sure the relief arrives quickly, equitably and efficiently, with no waste or fraud, in your bank account, in your mailbox, to the local business, in your community, and to your child's school."

It is great to hear that someone is in charge of coordinating all these efforts with state and local officials and will be accountable for them. I forget how you said it Jackie but it was something like “You can’t fake competency.”0 -
I'm watching Nicolle Wallace on MSNBC and she just played that part of the press conference. She has a panel of experts discussing the reluctance of Trumpers to get the vaccine.

Faith can have a profound impact on health. It is a very personal experience of thought and surrender, which can comfort in every situation. Faith is free and available to all people at all times. It only requires that one fully embrace possibility, and the ultimate value is in the depth of the embrace. -Patch Adams

I find it astounding that so many Trump and Trump types won't take the vaccine -- then again, if you believe in someone as woefullydificient and un-caring as Trump maybe you've had a long lapse in judgement that possibly wasn't so hot to begin with. Going w/o vaccination to me is like playing another form of Russian Roulette. I'm sure most of these people have had 'some' experience with covid and losing loved ones and not being able to share their last moments. Still, apparently they march on to the drummer who is not a good player. You hav e to see him as a loser though.
Perhaps down the line a bit when more and more positive ( if they can any longer recognize such things ) events under Biden happen they may start to see comparisons that could mean something to them -- not all of course, but I guess I'd like to think there may be some hope for some. Surely some of them will start to see that what Pres. Biden does not make them worse off, but if not much better -- no worse. I've so disliked finding so many of our countrymen un-able to display common sense and how they seem to have such little un-awareness that they are being conned -- by their news, by Trump, by many in the rt. side of government and it was all there right from the start. Utterly sad, but if they can't turn around -- then we leave them in the dust and move on.

Perhaps with the drumpf it is a case of "do as I say and not as I do". He sneakily got the Covid vaccine before he left office in January which means all of his family was most likely vaccinated as well since we know how "essential" they are. Then for all his accusations about the lack of integrity of mail-in ballots, he signed up again for a mail-in ballot just recently. If you looked for the word hypocrisy in the dictionary, his face would be posted next to it.

Refusing the vaccine is like playing Russian roulette, but with a rotating-magazine assault rifle (or a sawed-off shotgun), spewing bullets or grapeshot all around those in your presence. Drumpf did mumble "get the shot" before getting offstage & leaving CPAC for the golf course, and both he & Melania were vaccinated in Feb.--but of course FAUXNoise and OANN aren't reporting that. If they did, then Cult45 would more likely follow their role model.
I suspect he will never do time, because DeSantis will refuse to extradite him to any state where he'd face charges. The interesting question is if he is indicted Federally, whether a state's Governor or A.G. must turn him over or let DOJ come and get him. It may be moot--he will likely be stuck at Mar-a-Lago* for the rest of his miserable life. Recent photos show a drastic weight loss (his now-oversized-looking MAGA hat riding low on his brow, perhaps covering a no-longer-manipulated coiffure); pale pink skin and his white (illegitimately-worn and--reportedly--badly stained) Presidential seal polo hanging off his suddenly scrawny neck. My guess is that after being weaned off dexamethasone his steroid-turbocharged appetite might have fallen off precipitously. Other explanations could be plastic surgery (but not enough time would have elapsed for residual swelling to subside), gastric-bypass (I doubt his ego and COVID history would have allowed that), or something (other than depression-related anorexia) that could cause rapid cachexia.
