After waiting three hours in our car and some confusion over will they or won't they, my husband did get his vaccine yesterday. Whew. That means everyone is my household has had at least one shot, with my oldest daughter getting her second yesterday. She goes back to in person teaching right around the time we get our second shot.

It is such a great step toward normalcy. It takes a weight off my mind.

Awesome news, Trish and it sounds like the three hour wait was worth it to have peace of mind. Great to hear.

It doesn't look like dh's three siblings or their spouses are getting the vaccine. They're all older than us. One sister in law is 68 and has smoked her entire adult life. She's never had a mammogram. She and her husband, college graduates btw, take care of my 92 year old mother in law who also is not getting the vaccine. Her daughter took her out shopping for shoes a couple weeks ago and a new chair a month ago. Dh's other sister is 71, she and her husband like to travel and are big into their church.

I don't think one of my own sisters, also age 68, plans to get the vaccine. She never had a mammogram until two years ago. She's been on plane flights, goes shopping, had a couple big picnics at her house last summer. She and other sister take swim exercise at a community center. They worked a craft shop at the holidays with another woman who got Covid, but they didn't.

All this is to say, do you think some people have a natural immunity to Covid? Because I was so, so careful, following all safety guidelines and rarely went out, but got it. It's like my family members mock any Covid restrictions and don't get sick.

Nor are they affected by the bc part. After a decade of mammograms, I got a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer from the start in my early 50s, but I have relatives who don't even look after their health nor do they seem to concerned about it.

I try not to feel like I was born under an unlucky star, but some days I can't help it.

I suppose people have their reasons (denial) for not getting the vaccine, but I was eager and took my first chance at it. I have grandchildren I want to see and hug.

Trishyla, just yea. Glad you both got those shots. You can start to feel protected now and a little less of a target. I really too have little understanding as to shy people want to engage in such risky behavior as to go w/o vaccine. Likely ( like myself ) so many of them have had long time vaccinations and certainly should understand WHY they have not had perhaps a plethora of the so-called childhood diseases. Stupidity, loyalty the orange thing. Did I mention stupidity. I don't care so much about them ( I think they deserve their downfall should it happen ) but I do care about others who may be around them -- some who may even be waiting for a turn to get a shot.

The new puppy is named Bruno. Here he is meeting DS's Dalmatian, whom he thinks is his mother. I was pretty wiped out from my Covid shot so got nothing done all day. I have something starting at noon tomorrow, so have to scramble around getting things done tomorrow morning.

Feel better Ruth--and take a couple of extra-strength acetaminophen for the fever & aches.

Pingpong, how are you feeling today?

More vaccine dirty tricks at 132-bed Loretto Hospital. First, the COO--who lives in a Trump Tower condo downtown (hardly a hard-hit area) and is buddies with Eric--held a "private event" on 3/10 and vaccinated 72 hotel employees, regardless of whether they qualify or where they live. Then it comes out that on March 8, somehow a whole bunch of ineligible Cook County judges and their spouses got vaccinated at the hospital. (None of them live in the Austin 'hood where the hospital is located). The hospital says they weren't "invited" or "prioritized" and the Circuit Court isn't saying how they were notified. Most of them are white and affluent. Fewer than 12% of residents in Austin--overwhelmingly Black--have been vaccinated. Now today, word leaked out that in early Feb., the hospital's CEO held a vaccination event at his church--for its congregants only--in far south suburban Oak Forest. He's a fraternity brother of the pastor. Granted, it's an all-black church, but Loretto's allocation was for Chicago, not Cook County suburbs. Those shots were the only source of vaccinations for Austin residents. And it was while most Chicagoans in group 1B were having a devil of a time trying to find vaccination appointments. Mayor Lightfoot and Commissioner Arwady are hopping mad and have cut off the supply of first-doses to the hospital pending an investigation. (Those scheduled for second doses at Loretto will get them--but not the judges/spouses nor the Trump Tower employees. The congregants at the church already got their second shots at a second event). The hospital's Bd. of Directors is meeting tonight, and their PR person issued a "sorry not sorry" type of statement. Everyone's pointing fingers at each other.

As to the Atlanta spa killings not being about race, but instead "sex addiction" and "religious guilt?" Oh, please. The reason the killer chose Asian massage parlors to satisfy his addiction was because he obviously devalued and dehumanized Asian women, seeing them as hypersexualized disposable receptacles for his sperm. Tonight Bill Maher said "if the women murdered were Armenian, would anyone have blamed it on race?" Gimme a break, "Armenian?" No way would his victims have been anyone other than women of color, 3/4 of them Asian. OF COURSE IT WAS RACISM. Asian women have been sexually objectified by white American men ever since WWII. (Witness the stereotype cliché meme "me love you longtime," repeated ad nauseam in countless war movies). I'd bet if he were interrogated by a psychologist, he'd have admitted that he wouldn't have even dreamed of defiling white women.

Sandy, I am feeling better today. Just as a precaution, I had a covid test yesterday (along with my sister, with whom I live.) It'll take about 3 days to get the results. It's probably nothing, but I was feeling crappy in a way that was different from the usual "feel crappy" that I experience. Better safe than sorry. I hope it's negative, not just because having covid would really suck, but quarantine is a huge hassle, especially when it comes to groceries!

I spent much of yesterday sleeping & am back to normal today.....or as normal as you can be with a new puppy in the house!

Not sure if Marjorie Taylor Greene actually said this, but I wouldn't doubt it!

Ruth, I too would not be at all surprised if Greene said that. Too many of the Reps. have just gone into some 'nether' space and I'm not sure they are ever coming back. Lets hope we continue to outnumber them and always will.

As far as Donald Trump goes, the only Commandment that I'm not sure if he's violated or not is #4. He has certainly broken the other nine....including 'you shall not murder'...... 500,000+ Covid deaths due primarily to his negligence, and, due to his rhetoric, 5 dead on January 6th and I'm not sure how many hate crime murders.
