HRC's expression in this picture always cracks me up. I think it was taken during 11 hours of testimony about her emails. She looks so DONE.

I like it too Ping-Pong.

On one of the news programs, a lawyer said that actually indicting the Trump Org. would tend to effectively destroy whatever financial position Trump has. The entities ( whomever they may be ) would protect their interests by asking payment in full. I'm sure I don't repeat it as clear as it was to me when first said, but it sounded very much like other similar things I've heard before.

So Il DuceBag is saying "take back America?" I hope to high heaven that the Ojibwa, Pottawotami, Algonquin, Oneida, Lenape, Iroquois, Navajo, etc. reply "Don't mind if we do."

A few things about the Dereck Chauvin case. The sentencing seemed to be without drama. I appreciate that. I read the judge turned down his request for a new trial. His sentence seemed to hit the right tone. Not too lenient. In my opinion, Chauvin was arrogantly intoxicated with entitlement after four years of daily non-stop Trumpism being spewed from main stream and social media. Chauvin is now paying the price of his actions which were spurred on by a former president who doesn’t give two craps about him. How’s that feel, Dereck? Did you think Donnie was a gonna reach out and save ya?

Integrity requires that I discern what is integral to my selfhood, what fits and what does not--and that I choose life-giving ways of relating to the forces that converge within me: Do I welcome them or fear them, embrace them or reject them, move with them or against them? By choosing integrity, I become more whole, but wholeness does not mean perfection. It means becoming more real by acknowledging the whole of who I am. -Parker J. Palmer,

Isn't that the truth Divine. I think the orange one really gave extreme permission for the most part to all that was laying below the surface for so many people in the Reps. party in particular. I do think it most definitely was in people like Chauvin, and certainly in a lot of the political people in our government. The orange one opened the flood-gates for many, but it seems to me that if we can hold onto or expand, there is every reason to hope we can return our government where it should be. Sad that we lost so much ground in just four yrs. but it was there. We just have to hope those who needed to have learned a valuable lesson.
To that end I am glad the DOJ has/is suing GA for its new voting/suppression laws they want on the books. Will be interesting to watch that unfold.

I saw another cartoon which was similar to this one a few months ago.

I'm wondering how things are going to turn out here. Rachel Maddow felt that some of the upcoming pressures, like Giuliani, Gaetz and others facing heavy investigations etc. as well as Trump himself with possible indictments on the Trump Org. coming will/could be calling out his 'loyal' people to start some trouble. I think one of his recent phrases, quite recent was "take America back'. Save for the crazies who got permission to come way out in the open, America hasn't actually gone anywhere, nor to anyone. It is just being restored to a much better version where government ( even though many think it should be smaller ) has branches where the departments work much more as they are supposed to. They are filled with people who will do the job and adhere to the rules and norms.
So the orange one has rallies now ( I think there are four for this summer ) and he will likely spend most of the time on his grievances of a stolen election and other ills he might feel are meant to upset his apple cart. Like DOJ suing GA for trying to put suppression laws into place. That I've read is just the first salvo as there are other states that have done the same. Also read that Merritt Garland is coming pretty much into his own and that this lawsuit and others when they come is a sign to the SC that DOJ is on the ball and not going to let suppression go un-challenged. It all takes time though.

Just Wow !!!

The orange thing doesn't seem to realize that he has often risked offing his own voters because he didn't believe in masks, distance and other covid remedies. Sort of makes me wonder how many 'votes' may have been lost to him by the rallies he insisted on holding ( in fairness I do think a few were cancelled ) in the run up to the 2020 election. He did lose by an overwhelming margin though so most people just didn't want him period.

The Ohio rally was typical and blah, blah, blah. I will say there was a man there who mentioned that this was his 51st. rally with the orange dolt and all I could think was wow !! what a glutton for punishment. Well, people like to set all sorts of crazy records and I wonder -- when the orange one is REALLY done and over will he be as proud of his record as it seemed when he mentioned it tonight.
The orange one did mention that he was there trying to save America -- from what I wondered??? The normalcy, return to sanity. Well, I think there will be a lot more to do when he starts having to concentrate on saving himself. Like most times in the past though he will have lackeys doing that. Hope they are at least a little better ( but not too much ) than Giuliani who actually might end up in an adjacent cell to Trump -- who knows for sure at the moment. Talk about dying on the vine.

Well, I'm down another organ! I went to an ER for acute abdominal pain with vomiting and diarrhea. After a CT scan for intestinal blockages and an ultrasound to check my gallbladder, I was told it was a nasty stomach flu that was making the rounds. Now that masks are coming off, all the normal communicable stuff is resurfacing. But the next day, I was still in a really bad way. Fortunately, we decided not to wait to see my PCP for a GI referral and went back to the ER. The new doctor immediately guessed it was the gallbladder and confirmed it with a second ultrasound. The organ walls are supposed to be about 3mm thick - mine was over 11mm thick. Plus he found several huge stones. I don't know how they were missed the first time around.
When I talked to my surgeon, he said this was not a sudden onset thing. What should have been about an hour long procedure took 2 1/2 hours because it was so inflamed. About a month ago, I had what I thought was a bout of food poisoning that resolved quickly once the bad stuff was out. My surgeon thought that might have actually been the gallbladder acting up even back then.
I'm doing much better now. Even post-op, the pain is less than it was during the flare up. Most of the discomfort is from the air they pump into your abdomen for the lapro work. It's slowly working its way out via the normal passages. At least the farts don't smell. xD

((((((Miranda)))))) So glad that got resolved for you! Hang in there.

Ohmygosh, Mirianda! Glad to hear you weathered a storm that blew up out of nowhere. Also glad you went with your—well, I won’t say gut, I’ll say instinct—in getting swiftly back to the ER when you knew something still wasn’t right. I’m so surprised the CT and ultrasound did not reveal the gallbladder issues the first time around! Your doctor is probably correct that what you thought was food poisoning a month ago was probably an earlier gall bladder attack. Well, at least the gall bladder is one of those “not necessary” organs. It sounds like a pretty intense ordeal nevertheless, and I hope you heal up nicely.

Jackie, good for the insurance company, removing their advertising from Tucker's show. Someone on social media referred to Fox News as a sitcom. I don't watch it, but it sounded like an appropriate description in that all the content is made up. However, it's not actually laughable.
Regarding the rally. Last night I was flipping thru TV stations and C-Span was running a tape of it. My first impression was, what is with orange thing's hair? Honest to Pete, it looked like he had a hair piece or weave or toupee on. It did not even look like the same color it was when he was in the WH, it looked like it was fresh out of a different colored bottle from that morning. I quickly changed the channel but had to go back to look at that train wreck of hair again to get a better read on it. And went with my initial impression. Something more weird than usual going on up there top of his head.
The Maga dude who claims attendance at 51 orange rallies represents the quintessential Maga fan who has nothing better to do but feed his addiction to unreality. Drunk on the falsehoods and lies, can't get enough. Not out there doing anything to actually improve anyone else's life, merely getting his fix, rally after rally. What could you possibly get from all that attendance? It sounds like a sickness to me. I wonder if he only attend six rallies but can't count. “Hmm...went to 5 rallies before this, now this 1. Let's see now, 5+1= 51. Wow! I been to fiddy-one rallies! Stoked." Dude, you have no life.

Wow, Mirianda, that sounds like a pretty awful experience. Thank goodness they finally figured it out & get rid of that rogue gallbladder! Glad to hear that you are on the road to recovery!!!

Mirlanda I too am glad you are through your ordeal and on the way to hopefully an outstanding mend. Wondering if the first CT wasn't read well enough. Anyway glad you kept at what was going on. Here's to your much better/very good health.
Divine, I didn't see any of the actual speech, but just read some blurbs on it. I did however see a picture and even in the picture ( couldn't see color shades ) the hair looked funny. Flatter in a strange way and neater in a strange way. Sort of fluffy but flat. I wondered about it also. I also read this morning that a lot of the attendees ( apparently not the guy who has 51 of those idiot endeavors under his belt ) were not all that enamored of the speech. They were not happy that it was mainly a part of a grievance ( same old-same old ) tour and even seemed to resent the same LIES. He is generally speaking according to them nothing and they are bored with NOTHING. Sadly, this is what they pretty much have always gotten with the orange thing and it is a tired and ineffective song. I think some ( should orange one be back in the area ) likely would not go. Even these people seem to sense that more harm than good is being done.
I'm sure the orange thing remains a bit desperate to keep his person in sight so that he can still 'command' the troops. I read that not even Fox News carried the rally. I think that is getting pretty bad. They seem fine with the continuation of lies such as the FBI have orchestrated 1/6 ( choke-choke on that one ) but are keeping a bit of distance from orange.

The former guy makes himself look more and more like a delusional person who has dementia with his latest rallies. Even QAnon cult members are bored:
QAnon Supporters Express Boredom With 'Same Old' Trump Speech: 'This Is Getting Ridiculous'
* Both QAnon and longtime supporters of former President Donald Trump criticized his Saturday night speech in Wellington, Ohio, accusing him of the "same-old, same-old" grievances against Democrats and his 2020 election loss to President Joe Biden.
QAnon supporters, some of whom are the former president's most fanatical online backers, sent a barrage of messages through the Telegram app that expressed boredom and even anger at the speech Trump described as "the very first rally of the 2022 election." They blasted Trump for not mentioning how his January 6 insurrection supporters are "rotting in jail." And numerous others said Trump should be booed by the Ohio rally goers for even "bringing up the word 'vaccine,'" specifically because they believe COVID-19 was entirely a hoax.
But a majority of the top QAnon user comments simply expressed their outright boredom with Trump's post-election stump speech, in which he baselessly claimed to have won in November 2020 and blasted any dissenting GOP members as "traitors."
"I'm 100% with the dude, but literally switched from his speech 3 mins ago. Im [sic] done with his speeches," wrote QAnon user Jacob.
"Judging by the Trump-supporting normies I live with, they were bored with his speech," wrote another QAnon user. "I support Trump but this is getting ridiculous."

From a USAToday article:
In a series of interviews with ABC News' Jonathan Karl, detailed in a forthcoming book on the last days of the Trump administration, William Barr described the final weeks of the Trump administration and Trump's frenzied attempts to retain power.
"My attitude was: It was put-up or shut-up time," Barr said. "If there was evidence of fraud, I had no motive to suppress it. But my suspicion all the way along was that there was nothing there."
The expletive-laden conversations between Trump and Barr describe a president furious at his election loss and genuinely in disbelief that his most loyal subordinates would not support him in attempting spread false conspiracy theories and subvert the election.
----
So Trump was "genuinely in disbelief that his most loyal subordinates would not support him in attempting spread false conspiracy theories and subvert the election."
Who the hell wants such a deranged person to still be "running" the country? More like "ruining" the country.
People have moved on! Dufus cannot comprehend that no one wants to rehash stuff (lies, falsehoods) from last year! His tirades now make him look out of date and out of touch.

The story from Surfside, Florida where the condominium collapsed is so horrific. Nine reported dead and still at least 150 missing. It is unfathomable. At times like this, with a situation so dire and tragic, it is at least some comfort that the former guy was voted out. I could just see him somehow interjecting himself into the situation to make it about him and adding to the chaos. He was never able to rise to the occasion like a true leader of the free world to offer any hope or sincere condolences.

I read the Ohio gov had a prior commitment and wouldn’t be at that speech same for someother high rank Ohio officers. More like a snub.
DeathSantis took another page from looser, waited almost 12. hours beforehand calling for federal help, then left Miami.

One could almost think Barr had good intent and was flim-flammed a bit by the orange thing. Well, Barr is maybe hoping people will focus on what appears to be fairly decent behavior on 1/6 and the Big Lie and forget all about how he dis-sed and destroyed the Mueller Report. Barr spent every bit of his time giving the orange thing cover, but allowed self-preservation have the head-wind when he got to the end. If someone had told me so much of the Reps. party would be so warped over someone who is seemingly mentally damaged and has been all his life, I would have thought maybe they were a bit touched in some way.
DeathSantis, as you call him, Spookie could be in actions an orange man double. Sad in a way, he can't even be an original loony. Has to pattern himself after the worst of the worst.

Excellent memes and comments, IllinoisLady!
Here’s a lawsuit I support 100%. The Biden Bus was harrassed for ninety minutes while driving down the highway! Unbelievable but sadly true! How the hell was that permitted to go on for that length of time without invilvement from law enforcement? I hope those being sued pay dearly. It is a long article but worth reading.
Biden campaign workers and ex-state lawmaker sue 'Trump Train' members involved in dangerous Texas highway incident
CNN) — A White House staffer and former Texas state representative are among those suing several participants of a "Trump Train" that allegedly harassed a Biden campaign bus last October in Texas, claiming in a lawsuit filed Thursday that the Trump supporters engaged in coordinated, illegal political intimidation in violation of the Ku Klux Klan Act.
The complaint was filed on behalf White House staffer, David Gins; former Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis; former Biden campaign volunteer Eric Cervini; and the driver of the Biden campaign bus, Timothy Holloway. The plaintiffs wrote in their complaint filed in the Western District of Texas that on October 30, the Trump supporters "terrorized and menaced the driver and passengers on the Biden-Harris Campaign's bus" for at least 90 minutes, forcing the bus to slow to a crawl on a major highway while swerving in front of the bus to block its path.
"They played a madcap game of highway 'chicken,' coming within three to four inches of the bus," the lawsuit alleges. "They tried to run the bus off the road," referring to the defendants.
The complaint alleges that the defendants -- named as Eliazar Cisneros, Hannah Ceh, Joeylynn Mesaros, Robert Mesaros, Dolores Park, and a Jane and John Doe -- conspired beforehand to surround and block the bus in violation of the Ku Klux Klan Act, passed by Congress in 1871 to prohibit the obstruction of free and fair elections via the coordinated intimidation of voters. As a result of their actions, they claim, the campaign was forced to cancel its stops in San Marcos and Austin out of fear for their safety.
CNN has reached out to the defendants in the suit. None of them have been criminally charged in the incident
According to the complaint, Gins, Davis and Holloway were on the bus at the time and Cervini was in his own car escorting them. Biden and Harris were not on the bus that day.
The complaint also draws a line between the events of that day and the January 6 riot at the Capitol. The complaint notes that some of the individuals who were involved in planning the Trump Train incident on October 30 were also in Washington the day of the deadly insurrection. The complaint also notes members of the New Braunfels Trump Train were identified in media reports and on social media has "having taken part in the January 6, 2021 insurrection."
It is not the first time the Klan Act has been invoked this year in connection with acts carried out by Trump supporters before and after the election. Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, filed a lawsuit against Trump in February accusing him of inciting the January 6 riot and violating a provision of the Ku Klux Klan Act that prohibits political violence and intimidation that could impede federal officials from performing their constitutional duties. Jason Miller, a spokesman for Trump, said the former President did not incite or work to incite riots at the Capitol.
"Surrounded"
The FBI opened an investigation after footage of the highway confrontation, filmed by onlookers and Trump Train members themselves, emerged that on social media. An official familiar with the matter said the incident remains under investigation.
The same plaintiffs are suing San Marcos, Texas, law enforcement officials and employees in a separate lawsuit alleging that they violated another section of the Klan Act by failing to prevent or respond to the harassment.
"Due to pending litigation, the City of San Marcos, the San Marcos Police Department, and Director of Public Safety Chase Stapp will not have a comment," said Kristy Stark, communications director for the city of San Marcos.
Davis, who at the time was serving as a Biden campaign surrogate, filmed the incident from the inside of the bus.
The previously unseen footage, which was provided exclusively to CNN, shows several vehicles with Trump flags surrounding the Biden campaign bus, cutting in front of it, and abruptly braking to slow the bus down as it traveled from San Antonio to Austin for a campaign event.
Davis' recording also shows one truck with Trump flags -- allegedly driven by Cisneros -- sideswiping a campaign staffer's SUV as they accompanied the bus. "That was me slamming that f---er....Hell yea," Cisneros later posted on Facebook.
"Though I've been involved in many political campaigns for myself and others over the past couple of decades, I have never before experienced the threat or fear I felt when the 'Trump Train' surrounded our bus," Davis told CNN. "I'm a part of this suit because I'm worried that this sort of dangerous behavior threatens to become the new normal if we don't stop it."
The plaintiffs are being represented by lawyers with the nonprofit advocacy organizations Protect Democracy and the Texas Civil Rights Project, as well as the law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. Cameron Kistler, counsel for Protect Democracy and one of the lawyers on the case, is also an expert on the KKK Act, which he has called a "potentially powerful weapon for litigators seeking to protect the integrity of federal elections."
The complaint alleges the defendants began conspiring almost immediately after the Biden campaign's events schedule was released.
"As soon as the Biden-Harris Campaign made plans for the Bus Tour public, members of the Alamo City and New Braunfels Trump Trains began planning to intercept and intimidate the bus as it traveled through Bexar, Comal, Hays, and Travis Counties on October 30," the complaint reads, pointing to Facebook posts by Alamo City Trump Train members beginning on October 28.
The lawsuit also points to an October 28 video posted on Twitter by then-President Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., encouraging Trump Train members to "get together and head down to McAllen and give Kamala Harris a nice Trump Train welcome." President Trump later tweeted out a video of the highway skirmish with the caption, "I LOVE TEXAS!"
In several cases, the participants did not hide their involvement. Many of them -- including one of the defendants in the lawsuit, Hannah Ceh -- live-streamed the incident on social media using the hashtag #operationblockthebus, according to screenshots included in the complaint.
Another defendant, Dolores Park, streamed two live videos to Facebook, the complaint states, where she said, "This Biden bus is surrounded! Like seriously surrounded by Trump flags!" and "If my husband sees me like this, he's going to kill me for driving like this!"
The plaintiffs argue that, in addition to violating the Ku Klux Klan Act, the Trump Train members engaged in civil assault, "intentionally and/or knowingly" threatening the plaintiffs "with imminent bodily injury by engaging in aggressive, dangerous, and reckless driving that put Plaintiffs and others on I-35 in physical danger."
Plaintiffs say they've suffered psychological harm
Gins, who now serves as deputy director for operations in the Office of the Vice President, had volunteered to work on the Biden-Harris Inaugural Committee in the runup to January 20, according to the complaint. But he backed out after the events of January 6 because of "anxiety about the security aspect," he said in a text message at the time and wrote that he had been "a little traumatized" by the Biden campaign bus incident, according to the complaint.
"The experience of those 90 minutes on I-35 is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life," Gins told CNN. "Elections are partisan and can get heated, but we cannot allow violence to become part of our great democracy. If you resort to violence, the law will hold you accountable for your actions."
Holloway said that "after a long career as a bus driver, the Biden-Harris bus was the last one I ever drove."
"I am suing because my civil rights were threatened," he told CNN. "I don't want other people just trying to do a job to have to fear for their lives simply because they were hired by a political campaign. As a Black man, I'm not a stranger to voter intimidation and political violence. It's happened throughout history. It happened in Texas. It happened on January 6. We need our political leaders to take this threat seriously and help end it now. I'm doing my part with this lawsuit."
Cervini said he received "literally thousands of threatening messages" in the days following the incident.
"It made me fear for my family's safety, especially after I witnessed how aggressively the Trump Train went after the Biden-Harris bus, and how San Marcos law enforcement failed to come to help," he said.
