Found this in the Letters to the Editor section of today's paper.

    Anti-vaxxer Miranda Rights:

You have the right to not be vaccinated. Any air you breathe in or out can be used to infect you and to spread COVID-19 to those you love and others around you. You have the right to become ill, to be hospitalized, and to suffer permanent disabilities. You have the right to prolong the pandemic by enabling the creation of new variants. You have the right to be barred from places of employment, from restaurants, cruises, concerts, and other venues, and to be stigmatized by society. If you think you cannot afford to be vaccinated, you are wrong. It will be provided freely and with gratitude by a caring nation. Do you understand these rights and their consequences? Craig Harris, opting not to post address.

Wish I could get this printed, and distribute to those who are anti-vaxxers.

Trishyla, that's a powerful story. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Thank goodness (and the USSC) that abortion was legally available to you. I'm enough older than you to remember the dark, pre-Roe days when women were forced to leave their states or seek out questionable providers (a college friend of mine lost her cousin to an illegal abortion) for options to unwanted pregnancies. When I was in law school I used to tell younger, female classmates that they couldn't imagine what the world was like then. Now I fear that instead of imagining it, they will be living in it.

Interesting a bit to watch McCarthy and the rest of the holier than thou Reps. trying to tear Nancy Pelosi apart. I would worry, but she is usually about two to three steps ahead of those people as she was when the orange one was still pretending in the WH. Then again -- I much doubt that their screaming will be able to really cover up the wrongs that were done in the orange ones' name this past 1/6.

    The Hill

Newsmax CEO: Biden 'should be applauded' for vaccine efforts

Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy penned an editorial on the conservative network's website on Tuesday praising President Biden for how he has handled the coronavirus pandemic and urging Americans to get vaccinated against the virus.

"Six months into his administration, President Joe Biden should be applauded for making a huge dent in the COVID pandemic," Ruddy wrote. "He inherited an effective vaccine from President Donald Trump, took it into his arms, and ran with it."

Ruddy noted Biden's relatively steady approval numbers during the pandemic, despite what he called "a bitter election and a polarizing political environment."

"I heard that in the early days of the administration, Biden himself was on a call discussing the rollout of the vaccine with some at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and others, wanting delays in the rollout," Ruddy wrote of Biden's effort to hit the ground running with an aggressive vaccine rollout program. "Biden himself would have none of it. He took charge in the call and said there would be no delay."

The Newsmax head also applauded Biden for relaxing mask mandates for vaccinated Americans and pushing back on the idea of mandatory vaccinations.

Ruddy is vaccinated himself, he said in Tuesday's editorial, writing, "The bottom line: The vaccines are safe and effective."

The network chief executive's endorsement comes just days after at least one host on the network questioned the necessity of vaccines, prompting the company to issue a statement in favor of inoculation and distancing itself from the host's assertions.

"At Newsmax, we have strongly advocated for the public to be vaccinated. The many medical experts who have appeared on our network have been near unanimous in support of the vaccine," Ruddy said. "I myself have gotten the Pfizer vaccine. There's no question in my mind, countless lives would have been saved if the vaccine was available earlier."

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday the Biden administration has regularly been in touch with Fox News and other networks about their coverage of the pandemic.

"We've been in touch with every network and many, many media outlets about coverage of COVID-19 to make sure people have accurate information, to voice concerns when we have them, and I think you all know we're never shy when we have an issue with a story," Psaki said, noting the administration understands "the importance of reaching Fox's audience about the COVID-19 vaccines and their benefits.

On Monday, several prominent hosts on Fox News, the top-rated cable news network in the country, pleaded with viewers to get vaccinated and dismissed conspiracy theories about side effects or safety.

"Please take COVID seriously," prime-time host Sean Hannity said. "I can't say it enough. Enough people have died. We don't need any more death."

Good. None of us will ever be able to convince a FOXY to get vaccinated. If the Sean Hannity's of the media, who have been more than part of the problem, can get their audiences to get the shot, then they will have done something that is good for us all (although I do hope they get sued for the deaths they have contributed to with the nonsense they have been spewing).

Yesterday was remarkable wasn't it ? I'm still reeling a bit. It sure seems to me there is ( in some cases ) good change going on, but not sure it will help over-all. Some Reps. are in rather belated fashion telling their people to vaccinate. How will that work after almost a yr. of railing against available vaccine?? For the most part I'm ambivalent. I think on the one hand they deserve what they get -- but on the other hand worry about those who might have made a better choice if not for trying to support their family, who support the orange thing.

I also think there are some Reps. who are definitely quite risky. For instance, Marjorie Taylor Greene who laughed when asked a question about younger kids getting covid -- she laughed. Just put a lot of cement to how horrid and disgusting she is and one person to the side mentioned how they hoped that the people who voted for her last time around will not waste their vote this time. I, myself, hope they will have learned that Senators are normally not elected to be disruptors and non-contributors to health and welfare and take stock of what she has given them over-all. Can't tell sometimes, but it sure does seem like some of these people surely won't be re-elected.

Kevin McCarthy is a joke. A really bad one.

I have a branch of my family who isn't vaccinated. As much as they deserve whatever happens to them, I don't want them to get sick or die because I love them. I also don't want them to pass Covid along to older family members for whom the vaccine might not be as effective or the little children who are too young to be vaccinated. They drive me completely insane!!

2 of my critters are microchipped. The vet tells me the chips are as big as a grain of rice. And takes a pretty big needle to get it in to the animal. Do the anti vaxxers think it’s the same?

It's difficult to express my anger towards the Republicans without using the f word. I was raised to be a “good girl", and because of that lifelong societal conditioning, I always feel a little guilty using it. I never say it around ds and use it sparingly in private around dh who doesn't mind. He only uses it on rare occasions and for some reason it's always funny when he does even tho it means he's bitching about something. So you know he's really pissed. Still funny.

Just know I have many choice names for all these Repugs now changing their tune on the vaccine and alllll the names begin with the f word!

    divine,

Not swearing is not only confined to those who are “good girls”. I grew up in a household where I never heard either of my parents swear, ever! That was simply not a part of their word banks. When we became adults my dad would occasionally drop a swear word here and there but it was never gratuitous. As a result, I rarely use swear words and like my father, when I do use them it must fitthe circumstances. I generally don’t mind if others swear though some folks do it so much that I wonder if they have limited vocabularies. Not swearing is simply my linguistic habit.

I am with you all in my total disgust for the Reps. Ruth, I do worry about the people who get caught up in their families denial of allowing themselves to all the heath/protection they could have. Even sadder when it will/could come for free.

I think now all my Reps. bill's are vaccinated but I also think they held out as long as they could. Frankly, they were always 'smart' enough to know they were indulging in highly risky behaviors. I'm glad they got the shot but sadly have to report they are still as blind about the rest of their Republicanism as it seems they have always been. I am happy I think that McCarthy did what he did. There will now be no opportunity for " his " picks to throw monkey wrenches into the works as they might have since they could have denied subpoenas, or other information while holding to the orange other ones ideas. They could have done some real damage so likely it is for the best. Those who truly care about truth ( there are plenty of us and I think of them as well ) will hear and I hope heed when elections come around or even when support is needed for laws to be signed in.

Divine, I have to admit, it may be under my breath a lot, but the F word which I've generally avoided since there is so much 'language' to choose from, has been so prevalent for me since idiot con man Trump arrived at the scene. In a way -- in such complete frustration ( certainly not abnormal and unusual in the Trump time ) what else is there. The need to let off steam comes so fast with the chaos and idiocy of the Trump time in the WH -- who had time to think of a better word. I sure needed something to save me from a total explosion and breakdown.

Then again -- some people are not good at language. Sadly, a lot of those same people vote.
