Bill Maher (with whom I increasingly disagree, especially about his libertarian dissing of medical science experts) nonetheless nailed it the other night: he said Repubs. embrace immoral ignorant and downright crazy candidates just because they're tired of "wokeness."They will vote for anyone who lets them "own the libs," despite the fact that not all Dems, liberals or even progressives are reductio-ad-absurdum "woke" in the ways the GOP describes. The extreme factions of our party are definitely a small yet vocal minority--while most Republican voters are now election-denying conspiracy-theory-embracing Trump-adorers.
That so many people are willing to embrace dangerous hypocritical idiots just so they don't have to care about pronouns or have their kids learn the whole (not just the century-old white-centric side) of American history--which makes them "feel uncomfortable"--makes me shudder. (Not to mention they have NO idea what actually causes inflation and totally forgot about the pandemic tanking the economy in 2020). As bad as things are now, come January it'll be even worse. It pains me to think that we'll look back and realize "these are the good ol' days," in the words of Carly Simon's "Anticipation."

He divides American Jews into good and bad groups, those who voted for him in support of his tax policies which favored the wealthy and in support of his policies in support of Israel as opposed to those who favor economic policies which assist the poor and who express concern for Palestinians and of course those who persist in voting Democratic. He expects American Jews to vote in a monolithic block. He compares them to evangelical Christians who do support his Israeli policies because they want all Jews to move to Israel because that is part of the whole apocalypse/rapture thing??? Ivanka and Jared of course fall into the "good" group!!!

His words are for political convince.Remember what he said about the White Nationalist protesting in Charlottesville VA calling them very fine people. He surrounds himself with Proud Boys and Nazis sympathizers. He’s a disgusting man.

My thoughts have always leaned towards Trump being damaged goods from early on. I don't think he was ever really mentally sound, but I do think he could easily mimic a lot of what he saw around him and so began his ability to slip under the radar when and where others were noted to have emotional/psychological issues. Not at all certain. Age has only made things worse, but he could have gone on forever save for choosing to take the office he was elected to.He is it seems to me sociopathic just by dint of his need to seek vengeance for perceived wrongs against him whether they are or not.
People should have always run the other way from him, but they don't. Most I think, one way or the other end up regretting their choice. I'd love to be a fly on the wall for some -- like Jeff Sessions, Sean Spicer etc. If they could be candid, what would they really say about having been favored at one time with Trump and now. I really don't know one person who has benefitted from being close in with Trump.
