That sums up their priorities right there. They're completely ok with the hypocrisy and any behind-closed-doors behavior, as long as they have more power and control. Character doesn't matter if it is attached to a vote they like.
And for the voter base, they've been so sold on "owning the libs" that they'll accept it all too. They'll vote against their own interests, because they see how the politicians absolve their own, and they want that absolution too. It's starting to parallel the 1400's Catholic church with indulgences for sale and flagrant "do as I say, not as I do" corruption. The Reps need a good Martin Luther, but without the anti-semitism baggage.

Great meme, Divine. Always strikes me so odd that people don't see themselves at all. Most of us, however at times maybe reluctantly, will face up to ourselves at some point. I think, how could you not if there is anything in your head, heart and conscience. You know who you are. Wondering just when it became fashionable to call yourself a Christian when you are everything but that in a very highly transparent fashion. As one of the Lincoln Project pundits put it last night on MSNBC (my occasional journalistic comfort food), the GOP establishment is over a barrel when it comes to 45. They can't win with him, but they can't win without him. His endorsed candidates crush the (at least semi-)rational opposition in primaries, but lose the general elections. Thus, they're "all about that base, 'bout that base" till it comes back to bite them in their own "bass" come November.
