DISMISSED: Trump judge forced to dump case for lack of jurisdiction
by STEPHANIE BAZZLE - Advertisement Above -Donald Trump has battled to protect himself from prosecution in the Mar-a-Lago documents case, relying in large part on a case he brought before a sympathetic judge — who has now been forced to vacate her entire ruling issued in his favor and dismiss his case as she admits it's outside her jurisdiction.AdChoicesSponsored
Judge Aileen Cannon was nominated to the bench by Trump himself in his last months in office.
It would be less than two years before she was called to rule on a case for him, as he requested that a special master be appointed to go over documents removed from Mar-a-Lago, and for the U.S. Justice Department to be prevented from examining documents until this procedure was completed.
The Justice Department appealed her ruling, and saw success at the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, which affirmed two important points: one, that Cannon had "improperly exercised equitable jurisdiction;" and two, that when the government executes a search warrant, they do, in fact, have the right to seize relevant documents.
They also have a right to prosecution if the evidence leads that way.
Despite Trump's Truth Social rants, there is neither an exception for ex-presidents, nor for defendants who throw a big enough public tantrum.
The 11th Circuit's ruling earlier this month directed:
It is indeed extraordinary for a warrant to be executed at the home of a former president—but not in a way that affects our legal analysis or otherwise gives the judiciary license to interfere in an ongoing investigation…To create a special exception here would defy our Nation's foundational principle that our law applies "to all, without regard to numbers, wealth, or rank."
Cannon's single-page final order in the case, in response to the higher court's ruling, was terse and to the point, simply affirming that the case is dismissed and that any further hearings, deadlines, and pending motions should be considered canceled.

Ruthbru, did you mean to post the meme about Elon Musk on the In Memory Forum (Can't remember actual name)? If not, that is where it turned up.
0 -
Too soon?

Good Grief! I did NOT purposefully put Elon on the Memorial Thread. (Not that it would be sad news, it's just that I wouldn't want to memorialize him). Anyway, I deleted that post and will try it again.

I was hoping it was wishful thinking on your part, Ruth. I would not want to memorialize him either and I think his mother is just as crazy. He look more feminine than she does.

I do hope people will, but I'm starting to wonder if we need a way to successfully weed people out of government a lot quicker than waiting for an election when they are such total misfits as this and get installed while there is a totally misfit pseudo person as president.
I'm not talking about just dumping people you don't agree with, but people like anyone who is far right or left will it seems mainly make trouble and possibly influence those who would be better were these misfits not "getting" away with a lot of wrong actions, ideas, words etc. When you have an agenda that is clearly not one where you wish to help your constituents across the board, and more interested in destruction I don't believe we should have to keep those people around causing assorted mayhem.
It wouldn't be easy, but I just see all of this as so wrong.

Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) said that Marjorie Taylor Greene had violated the constitution by supporting the overthrow of the government and should not be seated in Congress.
AdvertisingRep. Pascrell tweeted:

History Daily
Rep. Pascrell is correct. Rep. Greene is an insurrectionist who claimed that she was only kidding and being sarcastic about overthrowing the government, but her comments suggest that if given the opportunity, Rep. Greene will participate in any effort to overthrow the government if President Biden wins in 2024.
Greene should be expelled from Congress. The House should refuse to seat her. The congresswoman from Georgia is desperate to see Kevin McCarthy become the next Speaker of the House because McCarthy cut a deal that will increase her power in the next Congress.
Rep. Greene should not be in Congress. Elevating her increases the level of national security threat that she poses to the nation.
Kevin McCarthy has emboldened Marjorie Taylor Greene, and now it is up to the majority of Americans to stop her.

HOLY SNIT: MAGA pastor has a predictably moronic plan to install Republicans in office
by TARA DUBLINDileep Rao Talks About Returning to 'Avatar' Franchise For 'The Way of Water' & Gives Insight Into Working With James CameronI'm no Bible scholar, so I was hoping someone a little more well-read in the ways of the not-always-so-Good Book (a real pastor, perhaps?) could point me to the passage where it says:
AdChoicesSponsored"And if ye should lose an election, yea verily ye should whine and cry and beg to have it overturned so ye may never have to look liketh a loser."
Honestly, have you ever seen so many hypocrites acting like giant overgrown babies?
I wonder where they got the idea that we just pitch a public tantrum when we have a sadz over losing.
Anyway, the latest Fake Christian Trumpocrite to kick up a fuss about losing elections is MAGA cultist "Pastor" Shane Vaughn, who went viral in July during a rant where he called January 6th witness Cassidy Hutchinson "a little witch" with a "Lezzie spirit."
So "Christ-like".
Now Vaughn is whining about how unfair it is that Republicans keep losing elections because *checks notes* people aren't voting for them and their lunatic MAGA candidates as much as they're voting for Democrats, so he wants all kinds of changes made to the voting process at the state level.
This doesn't surprise me at all, because so many of Trump's handpicked MAGA candidates in the midterms were election deniers who were intent on dismantling our election voting system from within.Sponsored Links
Thankfully that attempt failed, so they have to try to do it better in 2024.
And that starts now with the GQP planting doubt about state elections. Y'know, just as God intended.
"Pastor" Shane is out here advocating for electoral colleges in every state, according to Right Wing Watch.
"The only way we ever have a Republican president is the Electoral College," Vaughn said during a Livestream of his hatefest disguised as a religious talk show last Thursday. "We cannot defeat the population centers without the Electoral College."
Uh, yeah, which is why most people want to abolish the Electoral College altogether — so that the voice of the people is truly heard.
Our elected officials ruin enough stuff once they're in office, so they need to let us actually elect the President.
But don't tell that to this Man of Republican God, who screams that the only way to "save the Senate in the United States of America is that the Senate elections should also be done by the Electoral College of a state."
Witness the cray for yourself, and remember that we need to keep electing smart people who understand how the government actually works and who actually believe in the concept of a one-person, one-vote democracy — unlike any of the MAGA nutjobs that the GOP keeps running with.

Wow !!! Quite a thought and question, Divine. I tried to see what I could find and found it all basic confusion as well. I did note though that in 1981 a reorganization of the 5th. Circuit took place. It now handles/hears cases from the districts of Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and the Canal Zone. The Circuit CT's. are right below the Supreme Court, and the circuit courts can set legal precedents They are able to have strong policy influence on U.S. Law.
While I think they are truly VERY important, I'm wondering how many normal people who need to keep so many daily issues straight for the most part, could actually wade through and retain all the "legal" information comprising courts of law, circuit courts, and the Supreme Court as well. Would seem to me only those dealing with the legal system on a daily basis and building a pyramid chart (boy would that be big) be able to easily navigate all the courts and their boundaries across the U.S. To use your great word for it, LABYRINTH. Some great mind worked hard to help formulate the system and I say hats off to them.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's official portrait was unveiled Wednesday in the U.S. Capitol's Statuary Hall, marking the first time a madame speaker joined the faces of the men who preceded her.It prompted an emotional tribute from the man who first handed her the gavel, Republican John Boehner.Pelosi, 82, is the Democratic Party's longest-serving House leader and the first woman to be elected speaker. She wore her signature winter white on Wednesday, joined by her husband, Paul, her children and grandchildren."This painting will stand out as a woman in that Speaker's Lobby. I'm really honored my members had the courage to elect a woman speaker," Pelosi said to applause. "That is not without courage.""Somewhere in this Congress is a future woman speaker to be. I'm honored to be the first, but it will only be a good accomplishment if I'm not that last," Pelosi added, predicting that will happen "sooner, rather than later."The California Democrat announced after the midterm elections that she was stepping down as party leader in the new Congress, passing the torch to a new generation of Democratic leaders, ahead of Republicans taking back control of the House.During her tenure, Pelosi garnered respect for her fundraising and legislative prowess, ushering bills like the Affordable Care Act and Respect for Marriage Act through the House.Boehner, who preceded Pelosi's first term as speaker, returned to Capitol Hill for the afternoon ceremony, where the two shared a hug following his remarks."Madame speaker, you and I have disagreed politically on many things over the years, but we were never disagreeable with each other," Boehner said, adding Pelosi has always been "gracious" to him and his family."And the fact of the matter is no other speaker of the House in the modern era, Republican or Democrat, has wielded the gavel with such authority or with such consistent results," Boehner added. "Let me just say you're one tough cookie." "He gave me the gavel. I gave him the gavel," Pelosi said. "I was at his portrait unveiling, and now he is at mine."Pelosi's portrait will join those of her predecessors in the Speaker's Lobby -- a longstanding tradition in the House.Other guests present for the occasion included Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Democratic Reps. Hakeem Jeffries and Steny Hoyer, GOP Rep. Steve Scalise and fellow members of the California delegation: Democratic Reps. Zoe Lofgren and Lucille Roybal-Allard.Lofgren opened the event by thanking Pelosi's family for "graciously sharing her with us and the country for the past 35 years." Paul Pelosi, Pelosi's husband who was violently assaulted in their San Francisco home, was wearing a black hat and sitting next to Pelosi during the ceremony -- and received a standing ovation from the crowd when Schumer noted his attendance."It's a tall order to put into words the impact Nancy Pelosi has had on the House of Representatives, Congress, the nation, and, I would say, the world," Lofgren said. "She has been a singular force for good throughout her years in public service."Schumer, taking the podium, commended Pelosi for her work ethic and her drive to keep the Democratic caucus united. "The results speak for themselves," he said, highlighting her work on the Affordable Care Act, the Violence Against Women Act, the bipartisan infrastructure law and more."Nancy Pelosi has made the world a better place for countless women and girls from all walks of life," Schumer said. "Somewhere out there, a future madame speaker awaits her chance to make a difference, and when she does, she'll be standing on my friend Nancy Pelosi's shoulders."House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., also attended the portrait unveiling but did not speak. McCarthy skipped Pelosi's floor speech announcing her decision to step down, telling reporters he was busy in "meetings."The portrait was painted by Ronald Scherr, who died last week. Scherr also painted Boehner's portrait, a point Pelosi noted, as well as portraits of President George H.W. Bush and former Secretary of State Colin Powell.0

I as well honor Nancy Pelosi. She is intelligent, honorable and knows how to be a great leader. Lucky to have had her all these years.

Loon is feeling a huge money pinch I do believe. If people are willing to pay what he is asking then they are as brainless as he. So, yeah !!! the big hoo-haw is just another way to sell himself. The regular cons are getting too difficult with all the possible indictments for his dirty dealing up to now.

Does anyone else find this completely hysterical? He is just amazingly and totally wacko:
Donald Trump touted the release of "digital trading cards" with his likeness on Thursday after teasing a "major announcement" earlier this week. The digital cards or NFTs (non-fungible tokens aka digital artwork that can be traded and logged online) cost a steep $100 a pop — and in this economy, no less!
But it might be the price you're willing to pay to lay claim to a "limited edition" JPG of the former president rendered as a superhero with bulging leg muscles. Or dressed as a cowboy. Or shooting laser beams out of his eyes in front of Trump Tower. Or pumping his fists in front of a green stock market arrow. Each card has a unique "pre-assigned rarity," but no card "will have more than 20 copies in existence," according to real website collecttrumpcards.com. The site says it will mint 45,000 cards with unique identifiers recorded on the blockchain.
The cards aren't related to Trump's third campaign for the White House or any of his companies. It appears that Trump licensed his name and likeness to a third party, which he's done for any number of products, including steaks and menswear. "NFT INT LLC is not owned, managed or controlled by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization, CIC Digital LLC or any of their respective principals or affiliates. NFT INT LLC uses Donald J. Trump's name, likeness and image under paid license from CIC Digital LLC, which license may be terminated or revoked according to its terms," reads the fine print. The site also warns consumers that Trump cards are not intended as an "investment vehicle."
In a post on Truth Social, Trump called the cards "very much like baseball cards, but hopefully much more exciting."
The excitement may be in the fact that purchasing a Trump card automatically enters you into a sweepstakes to meet Trump for a cocktail hour or round of golf at his Florida estate. Buying 45 cards — essentially forking over $4,500 — gets you invited to a "gala dinner" with Trump somewhere in "South Florida." But as the fine print notes, you are responsible for your own lodging and transportation to and from the event. What a steal!
It's not clear why Trump, who hasn't been doing much campaigning for president yet, has resorted to selling non-fungible tokens. The NFT market has been plunging alongside the cryptocurrency market, capping off a bad year for both fake and real money.

Ruth, that is way too funny. Of course, anyone here would give nothing and if gotten free would toss the card out -- in very wet trash. The insanity of this person is amazing. Is this in part because he is losing his grip on so much. Is he so desperate that he would go along with any harebrained idea? I have seen pages now be blank in my new feed a number of times when I expected the usual three or four on the page. Can't believe he was saving himself for this super-huge announcement about the cards.
Only a super narcissist could do something of this ilk and be totally un-aware of the appearance, and tone being made to normal human beings. I wonder what his percentage of the take is. ??? Maybe he needs to be sure he has something going for commissary money when he lands in the federal hoosegow.
