We inherit from our ancestors gifts so often taken for granted--our names,
the color of our eyes and the texture of our hair, the unfolding of varied
abilities and interests in different subjects. . . . Each of us contains within
our fragile vessels of skin and bones and cells this inheritance of soul.  We
are links between the ages, containing past and present expectations,
sacred memories and future promise.  Only when we recognize
that we are heirs can we truly be pioneers.

This comment wins the internet! Re: Trump’s attorneys, “The Orange Man is pretty much down to Cousin Vinny by now."

Donald Trump has launched a fiery attack on CNN anchor Erin Burnett, who previously served as a guest judge on his show The Celebrity Apprentice, branding her "not smart, and very boring."

The former president, and 2024 Republican presidential frontrunner, made the comments on his Truth Social website.

Trump has long had an antagonistic relationship with CNN, having repeatedly branded the broadcaster "fake news". In 2018, he called Jim Acosta, then the network's chief White House correspondent, a "rude, terrible person" at a press conference. It is unclear what specific incident, if any, sparked Trump's attack on Burnett.

Posting on Truth Social, the former president said: "Ratings challenged Erin Burnett, the Fake News CNN Host(ess?) who is constantly and very boringly reporting false and semi-inflammatory stories about your favorite President, used to call me, over and over again, in my prior, beautiful, and very simple life, to get herself on The Apprentice, 'a ratings phenomenon' (Variety).

"She would do ANYTHING! I let her on the show a number of times, but her calls didn't stop, and I finally told her, 'Sorry, no more.' The fact is she was not smart, and very boring, much like she is today on her soon to be canceled (???) show - put it to sleep! Anyway, just sayin'," Trump added.

Newsweek has reached out to CNN for comment via the network's online contact form.

Burnett previously appeared as a guest judge in a number of The Celebrity Apprentice episodes, filling in for Ivanka Trump. Describing the then-president in 2017, during an interview with SiriusXM, Burnett said: "He is very much the person now that he was then. He is very convincing when he wants to talk to people... as a person, he was always courteous."

On Wednesday, Burnett interviewed Ty Cobb, a former member of Trump's legal team, about the former president filing an appeal after a New York judge said that Trump committed business fraud by falsely inflating the value of his assets.

Asked "is this appeal going to go anywhere for Trump?" Cobb replied: "So I think it's possible that it does," arguing the decision was a little bit too aggressive in terms of the penalties.

Trump is also facing four criminal cases over allegations he orchestrated the payment of hush money to a pornographic actress; mishandled classified documents; and broke the law attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election, both across the United States and in the state of Georgia specifically. He has pled not guilty to all counts, and insists the charges against him are politically motivated.

On Friday, ABC News and The New York Times reported allegations that Trump shared classified information about the capabilities of American nuclear-armed submarines with an Australian business tycoon at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. Newsweek approached a Trump spokesperson for comment by email.

The piece above was from Newsweek. At this point I think we are going to get real lunatic postings from the Loon. Nothing much is working out for him,. He is losing on most fronts and has started pulling a lot of his punches,. He walked out of NY so gave up. Then, cancelled a lawsuit on Michael Cohen since it was time for him to sit for a deposition — something he sure shouldn't be doing if at all possible with court cases looming and being in the middle of one where he is already GUILTY.

He also dropped one that he was starting on Judge Engoron. The Loon is slinking away with tail tucked because his chickens are really coming home to roost. He was planning to show up (having his name put forward for the SOTH spot) in Washington (Capitol) and intercede in some way in the proceedings to vote on a new Reps. SOTH. It was leaked by another Reps. that he would at the time put Gym Jordan (the ugly jewel) name forward.

He then fumed over his losing the element of surprise and I think it may not be known if he will continue his plans to show or not. I would say it is pretty much all over but the shouting and or other distress noises. It was also noted that not much sense to attacking Erin Burnett. It was mentioned that the Loon is really going back to what were for him, more along the lines of glory days and long before a run for office infected him with the scrutiny of bringing truth and understanding to his own ugly and mis-spent life and how he treated the four WH, and beyond yrs.

It is weird to see not only the Loon in his true colors, but to see the others who now have the same coloring because they were too much like him and the same rotten fruit showed up on them. I go back and forth. Sometimes feeling he destroyed these people but mainly feeling it was there inside these people — and the right nudge came along to loosen it all. He is through a destroyer. I think Rony Jackson (WH Phyician while the Loon was there) was the one who finally got my eyes open about just what happens when you rub shoulders a bit too long with orange people.

As to this — I could not agree more and I hope to heck it happens.

BREAKING: Donald Trump gets horrible news as a coalition of prominent media outlets formally requests that the judge overseeing his historic election interference case allow cameras in the courtroom.Normally, public cameras are banned in federal court. Of course, this is not a normal criminal case and an incredibly compelling case can be made that Americans have a right to watch every second of it."We have never, in the history of our Nation, had a federal criminal trial that warrants audiovisual access more than the federal prosecution of former President Trump for allegedly trying to subvert the will of the people," reads the filed application."The prosecution of a former president, now a presidential contender, on charges of subverting the electoral process, presents the strongest possible circumstances for continuous public oversight of the justice system," it goes on.The media coalition includes heavy-hitters like The New York Times, Univision, and The Associated Press. They argue that the ban on cameras is based on "outdated and long disproven views about recording and broadcasting trials."Crucially, they argue that a broadcast will contribute towards "helping to secure public confidence in the outcome of the case.”What do you think? Should it be televised?

    Sense — beautiful sense.

BREAKING: House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries torches Republicans for trying to kick two top Democrats out of their established "hideaway" Capitol offices in the wake of Kevin McCarthy's ejection from the Speakership.

Earlier this week, Speaker Pro Tempore Patrick McHenry announced that he would be kicking former Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Representative Steny Hoyer out of their offices. Presumably, the incredibly classless move was payback for voting to remove McCarthy.

Jeffries — who is increasingly becoming one of the Republican Party's most hated enemies — called the move "petty, partisan, and petulant" which is honestly a perfect description of MAGA in general.

He went on to say that Democrats have to find a "way out" of the disfunction and chaos that Republicans have created during their time controlling the House.

Jeffries correctly stated that the efforts to boot Pelosi and Hoyer from their offices are part of a desperate attempt to lash out, distract, and shift blame.

He called on Republicans to confront the "extremism that has spread unchecked" through their party. It's an admirable exhortation, but don't hold your breath waiting for right-wingers to heed it.

"The House should be restructured to promote governance by consensus and facilitate up-or-down votes on bills that have strong bipartisan support," he stated.

"Under the current procedural landscape, a small handful of extreme members on the Rules Committee or in the House Republican conference can prevent common-sense legislation from seeing the light of day," he added.

Years ago, anthropologist Margaret Mead was asked by a student what she considered to be the first sign of civilization in a culture. The student expected Mead to talk about fishhooks or clay pots or grinding stones. But no. Mead said that the first sign of civilization in an ancient culture was a femur (thighbone) that had been broken and then healed. Mead explained that in the animal kingdom, if you break your leg, you die. You cannot run from danger, get to the river for a drink or hunt for food. You are meat for prowling beasts. No animal survives a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal.A broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken time to stay with the one who fell, has bound up the wound, has carried the person to safety and has tended the person through recovery. Helping someone else through difficulty is where civilization starts, Mead said."We are at our best when we serve others. Be civilized.

Life is made up of a series of challenges designed to bring us to fullness of growth.  Meeting them with hope in the future is the real test of the spiritual person.
