Huffington Post:
Senate Republicans were appalled after their counterparts in the House voted on Tuesday to
oust House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) ― a first in American
history ― paralyzing the lower chamber and again increasing the odds of a
government shutdown next month. With no House speaker, no clear successor and a small band of insurgent
Republicans who appear ready to shut the government down at any cost,
the question of how Congress avoids a costly budget standoff is now even
harder to answer.“It’s a pathway to chaos. it’s like a shutdown,” Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah)
told HuffPost, adding that the power vacuum in the House will make it
more difficult to pass legislation.Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) called McCarthy’s ouster “disgraceful.”
“We saw a similar thing happen to [former GOP House Speaker John] Boehner,
[Paul] Ryan, and now McCarthy. I’m sure the next speaker is going to be
subjected to the same terrorist attacks,” Cornyn added.Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), said the next House speaker will be "subjected to the same terrorist
attacks."A handful of Republicans and nearly all Democrats backed a resolution offered by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) earlier on Tuesday to declare the speaker’s office vacant. The
vote was 216 to 210, making McCarthy the first speaker in history to be
removed from office in such a way. His tenure lasted just nine months.Gaetz and his allies accused McCarthy of being untrustworthy and too willing
to fold to Democrats. McCarthy, meanwhile, said Gaetz held a “personal”
vendetta against him and accused him of sabotaging conservative
policies.House Republicans are expected to vote to elect a new speaker next week, if
they can find someone to do the job. Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) has
been appointed by McCarthy to serve temporarily as speaker pro tempore.Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) said McCarthy’s ouster served no purpose, linking
it to grievances that have knocked out the past three Republican
speakers of the House stretching back to 2015.“It’s chaos for the sake of a couple of people who honestly are built to be
in the minority. Matt Gaetz and a few others, they’re built to be in the
minority,” Cramer said. “The minority is a very easy place to raise
havoc, to get people to support you because you don’t have any real
governing responsibility.”Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) said that a faction of House Republicans aren’t
willing to accept reality on spending when they control only one house
of Congress and Democrats control the Senate and the White House.“They simply haven’t figured out a mature way to recognize that you’re not
going to get everything done immediately, it takes time,” he said. “And
the perfect should not be the limitation to getting something good done.
Unfortunately, a lot of the folks over there want to be perfect, or not
at all.”Asked what their constituents might be thinking when they view Republican
dysfunction in Congress, Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member
of GOP leadership, said: “‘Like, are you guys nuts?’ That’s what they’re
thinking.”Cramer joked that anyone willing to become House speaker right now would only do it “because they hate themselves.”
“They’re miserable. They believe in self-flagellation,” he deadpanned. “The only
reason you do it is you think you can make a difference, that you can
bridge the great divides. Kudos to whoever thinks that and wants to try
it.”****I know things are really bad when I agree with Senator Cramer, whom I despite 99.9 % of the time!

In addition to Donald Trump's civil fraud trial playing out in New York, the former president received some additional bad news about his net worth.
It was announced Tuesday that Trump's estimated net worth is $2.6 billion, about $300 million shy of making the Forbes 400—the second time in three years the ex-president has fallen under the monetary value necessary to make the list of the richest people in the United States. His net worth is also down $600 million compared to last year.
In addition to Donald Trump's civil fraud trial playing out in New York, the former president received some additional bad news about his net worth.
As Trump falls off the rankings, he is fighting a $250 million lawsuit filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James against him, his sons and his business. The case is being presided over by Judge Arthur Engoron, who in granting James' motion for summary judgment a week ago found the defendants civilly liable for fraud.
The drop in Trump's net worth is attributed to his business decisions that have backfired, notably his large investment in his Truth Social media brand that has struggled to gain traction as compared to counterparts like X, formerly Twitter.
Forbes reported that Truth Social and its approximate 6.5 million users equate to about 1 percent of the X user base, and that Trump's 90 percent stake went from an estimated value of $730 million to currently less than $100 million.
Other factors hitting Trump's wallet are building properties affected for different reasons that have plummeted an estimated $170 million.
A 1.8 million-square-foot complex on 555 California Street in San Francisco is contributing to about $100 million of that decrease. Trump holds a 30 percent stake alongside publicly traded Vornado Realty Trust.
While the property's performance and rent are up, it's the long-term outlook that has decreased the value. Leases generating more than half of the building's total rent expire by the end of 2026, according to documents released two months ago and reviewed by Forbes, while the property directly across the street recently sold for less than half of what it cost in 2005.
The story is similar at 1290 Avenue of the Americas in New York, another Vornado-controlled property in which Trump has a 30 percent stake. Even while close to 100 percent occupancy at the moment, Equitable Holdings—a longtime tenant—is moving up the street next year and ditching its rent on 450,000 square feet.
Forbes Senior Editor Dan Alexander said that Trump's ascent into politics and specifically the presidency has had minimal impact on his financial outlook considering the little amount of money that he personally put into his campaigns for 2016, 2020 and 2023.
"No, I don't think that running for president was ever good for [Donald Trump's finances]," Alexander said. "It had some positive effects on certain assets and there were some transactions that he clearly benefited from.
"But there's also a lot of negative. Having 50 percent of the country hate you is not good for business, and having the amount of scrutiny with being the president or top presidential candidate is not good for business, either.
"If Donald Trump had not run in 2016, it's hard to imagine that he would be dealing with any small fraction of the litigation he's contending with now. That's a distraction in addition to being a financial cost."
I took some parts out of here. Hated to do it, but I couldn't get so many of the odd things out that they like to put in to hopefully slow you down from sharing some materials. In any case, the jist of what I was going for is that fact that The Loon isn't in the Forbes Club line-up now. It has become easy to see that he stretched a few figures a while back and inflated his ego and his worth, but all to no avail. Forbes is no longer interested. Too bad, so sad, Loon.

The courtroom with Hillary made me laugh. Trump being compared to the locust plague made me laugh. McCarthy aborted at 8 1/2 months is such an appropriate way to say it. As a DWTS fan, I could definitely see him as a contestant! (Ugh!) I would love a Letitia James Tower in NYC!
I wish the friggin media would stop giving DT a platform to air his grievances. I watched NBC news last night and there’s DT standing in the halls of the courthouse bitching away, surrounded by media and microphones. All his evil, putrid words vomiting up out of his mouth while they film. Just stop with it.And one thing I keep saying is inflation has got to be addressed. If inflation were down, Dems would be in a better place. There are constant comments about it in so many conversations I have with people in my area and we’re not even talking politics. But high prices are on everyone’s minds.

Adversity introduces a person to him or herself. On the occasion of every accident that befalls you, remember to turn to yourself and inquire what power you have for turning it to use.

Last two memes are some of the funniest ever. I also see them as having so much truth that the hilarity with them comes totally natural.
Well that is if laughing till tears come out of your eyes is natural — and I think it is.

Far be it from me, but the above is such a prime example that shit really does roll downhill. I won't say the Loon ever had a great reputation, but as Rudy and many others found out — he is extra-ordinarily persuasive and never more so when needing FALL guys.
The Loon doesn't pay up. Yet he skates through everything. Pity these people who seem to believe that what the Loon might do to others, he will never do to them.
I'm sure Guiliani was told not to worry. The Loon would take care of any legals fees incurred on the loon's behalf. The Loon did not and obviously Guiliani himself did not set aside funds on the chance he might be "caught out". So Guiliani has become mini=Trump/Loon. Doesn't pay the bill (even if he did manage the liquor bill) and now his lawyer has flown the empty coop.
Just look at it this way Rudy — you'll get a last laugh. When Judge Engoron, Letticia James, Fani Willis, Jack Smith and a couple of others get done with the Loon, you'll actually be better off.

I thought he was toast whether he was there or not. He just realized how hard it was going to be for him to hold COURT outside of court.
