My biggest concern with the tamox is the scary stuff like clots or stroke- does anyone take baby aspirin with this . Would that be good or contraindicated ?0 -
purple I will talk with the doctor when I go see her in a few weeks. I do take a baby asprin. That was recommended by my Onc

Okay ..thanks Paula.

purple I also take a baby asprin recommended by my MO. I have a strong family history of heart disease so he recommended this as a precaution.

The SAVI is out!!!! So good to be able to sleep on that side, very gingerly. It went very well and I still have my breast:-) I am feeling really good. Next, a PET scan to make sure there is nothing else brewing and then the Tamoxifin. Crossing my fingers it will not give me huge side effects - but I'll admit I have a bit of trepidation about my uterus getting bigger, hot flashes, bloating, etc.

Good for you Tink. Know what you mean though. My 2 year mark was a week ago yesterday. Time has gone fast, yet in many ways it seems to drag, at least from day to day. I think for me that is because of my lack of stamina which has come on since the tamoxifen.
Today is the second 2/3rds of our local 24 hour Relay for Life. It is held on the High School track in the next town inland from here. Our local grocery store invited me to at least join the survivors lap but though I'm improving I just don't have the strength or stamina to make it around. I'm afraid by the time I got from the parking lot to the track I'ld be worn out. I told my DH I was going to make a donation and he suggested an amount that got a couple of "Oh my God"s and a bunch of hugs so at least I did something.

YAH TINK!!!!!!!!! My Tamox will come before my Cancerversary.
I take my little white pill at night because it made me sick and now it's just a habit, BUT no one ever told me about an asprin. I feel left out
LOLAs for the Monocording...... YAH, not what I have. I do know that my ribs stick out and there is something attched to everything and it's NOT skin. Still wish I could figure out my nipple!!! See what the BS says when I see her next month (chg'd appt because of hand surgery).
Yep, spend next weekend on my Loraz to keep my anxieties down about needles and drs and it will help with everyone being together for Jim's Grandma's memorial. You know, everyone TRYING to do the right thing and take charge!!! LOL I'm going to try and hide in the backround or behind all my kids!!!

SOOOOO HAPPY to be a "fulltime" Mom for the next week!!!

Tink!! Congratulations on your latest milestone! We have to deal with this on such a day-to-day basis that we don't often stop to think back on what a long journey it's been. I'm such a doozy I don't even remember the date I got the positive diagnosis, but I'm pretty sure it was in May. So, I'm just at 2 years, too! It's definitely good to remind ourselves of how far we've come.
Just yesterday, I told a friend of mine that it's been 3 years (I told you I was a doozy) and then I stopped talking and thought, "I should be feeling better by NOW!" It was hours later before I realized I told her the wrong year.
Chabba - exhaustion and lack of stamina are my main two problems, too. I had been blaming the chemo for that, but now I'm wondering if it's the tamoxifen - if that's its main side effect for me. I think your husband's donation and the joy it gave you is wonderful, and if you're like me you're probably thinking, I KNOW I can do it next year! I wish the doctors would just clarify this exhaustion thing. I just want to know what to expect! I've been stepping up my walking game some lately, but I can identify with being tired by the time I walked from the parking lot to the event - oh, yeah. I'm NOWHERE near where I was before bc as far as stamina goes.
Jo - I know what you mean about wanting to reduce the biotin but NOT wanting to. I hate taking pills in general, much less all these vitamins. So lately I've reduced my biotin to 2000 mcg per day - I'll let you guys know if my hair starts falling off my head.
Paula - about cooking dinner: well, I DO miss my son so much but I don't miss not having to fix dinner! I'll have cereal, or a hard-boiled egg and some yogurt, or just peanut butter and crackers. At least the kitchen is staying clean - now I can concentrate on other things I've been wanting to get done around here!
I miss him SO much, though. Over Memorial Weekend, we just kind of spur-of-the-moment decided to fly him home. It cost $850 - ugh! But it was the only long weekend he was going to have over the 12-week internship. And flying from Seattle to Atlanta with the time zone change makes you lose a lot of time together. So, basically we were stressed out over the weekend because we were both sad he had to leave again so soon. I don't even know if we'll try it again. If we did, the best we can do is he would arrive around 4:00 pm on Saturday and would have to leave at 8:00 pm on Sunday. It normally costs about $450 which is okay, but that stressful feeling.....I don't know if it's a good idea to go through that again....
Tink, I second your emotion! I'm so thankful to have all of you ladies to talk to and commiserate with. I would really be struggling if it weren't for y'all.
Hope everyone has a restful, happy Sunday!

My MO is (reluctantly ) putting me on tamox. She prefers arimidex, but my bones are bad and with 3 breaks under my belt, I'm thinking tammi * may* be the lesser of 2 evils for me. She did tell me to have annual eye exams because tamox. can "cause damage to the eyes". Lovely~

POCKET PARTY TIME!!! I have my PS follow up appt in the morning. I am hoping we are going to move to the next step in my recon process. I just need a bit of tweaking which is going to be done in the office. I just want this to be over with. I still have full range of motion and just a little tightness on my back scar. Play 9 holes of golf yesterday with DH and no problems. I think I need to go find my golf game though - LOL!0
-
Count me in, Jo! What time? I see my PS on Tuesday AM. I think he will release me, as I am done!
I like your new photo.
I can't help with the golf game. I've never played. Looks like I would enjoy it though.

Is anyone taking a smaller dose of tamoxifen than the usual 40 mg per day? There is another post on Tamoxifen and that is the subject. There are studies showing that a smaller dose might be as effective without the noncurable cancers and the side effects. Has anyone heard about this?

alowen I'm taking only 20mg daily. I think alot of the gals around here do the 20mg as well. I wonder why you are taking 40.
