WElcome Lezza, this is a great place to get info and hang out.  Not everyone has SE's and has an easy time of tammi.  I hope you are one of those people.

Linda have a great time in VT.  I don't know if the 10mg is effective and from what I have read there have never been any studies done on 10mg.  Seems they invented tamoxifen at 20mg and all case studies where done at that dosage so everyone gets the same dosage.

The nurse did call me back with the answers to my questions and said if I wanted to come in a talk to the Dr she would make me an appt.  I told her I did not think so.  I told her to call me in the Effexor but I'm still not on board with taking it.  Think I am going to skip a few days and then do 10mg and see how the SE's go.  Just very leary of Effexor.

Hey Jo...how ya doing?  I do think that dropping hormonal levels from menopause can cause joint pain.  I had terrible pain in my joints, much like I am experiencing now, prior to going on my BHRT (before bc).   As soon as my estrogen and testosterone levels got back into a more normal range all of the joint pains disappeared.  They are back with a vengeance and have not gotten any better since stopping the Tammi 4 weeks ago.

Hope all of you gals are having a good day.  ((hugs))

just picked up my Effexor and talked to the pharmacist.  I told him my biggest concern was nausea and  2nd was weight gain.  He said most don't have stomach issues with it and he said since I did not gain weight with the Elavil that he would be surprised if I should have a weight gain problem.  We shall see

I went thru at 41.  I suffer joint pain , but I believe in my case ,. it is due to my osteopenia and the fact  I have had 3 severe breaks.  The early bone loss was from early meno. , but we are all different.

    I hope things clarifies things.

1openheart - I am doing better today.  Was bummed out for a few days - mini meltdown yesterday.  Went to my PS on Monday for a follow up and to schedule my revision.  Can't have it done until Aug 6th.  He must have a really busy schedule - or maybe a vacation planned in there somewhere?  Anyway, I so wanted to have it done much sooner.  I am due to leave at the end of Aug for a 7 day cruise and I want to be all healed.  The revision will be done in his office with a local.  Shouldn't be a big deal but I know I am going to bruise and hope the bruising will be gone before I go.

Sherry you are so lucky that you are so tiny and never have to worry about weight gain, but not lucky that you have to endure so much while taking the Tamox.  Lets hope you get some relief and soon.  Fingers crossed!

Jo I can imagine how bummed you will be but the time will fly by and you will have your revision and off to another boat cruise......lucky you, where to this time?

Ok so I am tired all the time where I want to sleep during the day and that is soooo not like me.  I cannot blame Tamox as I am not on it, so this is what old is like....argh!

June - This cruise we are driving from deep South Texas to Tampa, FL.  We will be sailing to Cozumel - love to snorkel here, Cayman Islands, Belize - been there once and Honduras - first time.  We will be leave here on my 2nd cancerversary - Aug 30th.  Can't believe it is almost here already.

We normally sail out of Galveston but I am bored with that route - done it too many times.  BTW!  This is a 7 day cruise on Carnival.

Ok I am having neighbor issues again with the same people we always have them with.  I just find out from my daughter that they have been treating her like shit to her face and telling her "Now Paige we are gonna be nice now, aren't we?"  And then her daughter who is 2 years younger than Paige tells Paige that "you know my parents hate you!"  Who the H does that?  I am so freakin mad and the sad thing is their daughter and my son are the same age and tend to hang out together especially when they are bored and she is always at my house swimming.  Now I am not sure if any of you will get this, but my little guy likes to hang out and play with her and I hate to take that away from him, but I am so mad that they have been talking shit about my daughter right to her face.......

     Sorry I had to vent!!!

June - This is the place to vent.  Not sure what to say since I don't have kids and not sure I am a good one to give advice on this subject.  I know there are other moms that will come along and offer some words of wisdom.  (((HUGS)))

June, parents like that astound me; I mean, really?  Glad you are able to vent here.  I,sadly, have no advice, since Madison got along really well with all her friends parents.  Now, with the friends, that's another story.  arguing and fighting with them was a regular thing, but that's because she couldn't ever be wrong.  She has changed.  Okay, so didn't mean to turn this into a me thing, because YOU are the one with the issue.  Give me their address and I can kick some tuckuss!

Hi Jo, yes I am beginning to think it's the TAM as well. Went ridign last night and walked around with horses giving some lessons and my knee is killing me!! Oh well, small price to pay, I will not give it up. I only hope that when my onc puts me on the Arimidex after he does the hormone level check to ensure it is perm meno, that drug will not be as bad, or will it?? Still, I will take whatever he wants me to.

ckgrayoh - I understand Armidex is much harder on the joints & bones.  I have postmenopausal and the AIs are not for me.  Tried 2 of them so will be on Tamox for the full 5 years.  I know there is at least on thread for Armidex.  May no be a bad idea to find it and do some reading.

ckgrayoh, my onco said that as long as I was OK on Tamox, he would just leave me there because it's easier. Just how much, I have no clue. I have to take mine at night because of the nausea.

Broke down and took the effexor last night. Woke up at 3am with major hot flash and by 3:30 realized I was neaseated.  Drank some milk and laid back down. By 4 not better took a reglan.  By 4:30 still not better took 1/2 Zofran and took the other half at 5.  By 6 was better but got up and ate some toast.  By the time I left for work I was doing OK.  Brought sprite with me to work just in case.  I think my body hates drugs.  As long as it does not get worse my body usually gets used to these things.  I wonder if I stepped on the scale if I would have gain 5 lbs last night, haha.

JO your next cruise sounds wonderful.  I bet your will be all healed and bruises gone.

JUne I don't have any advice but I'll come kick some A$$ for you.

All you ladies are too funny!  Thanks for letting me vent about not BC stuff.  This is the part of parenthood I hate the most.  As my daughter is being affected but my son like to hang with the girl......what to do?  We live on a busy street and it is someone to hang with and he loves to be outdoors like her.....I think I am going to talk this head on with the Dad tonight and if this doesn't get anywhere, then we will all done.......

Luv ya ladies and I love also love the fact you are all ready to kick A$$ as Sherry would put it!

momx3 - I had nausea issues in the beginning with Tamox and discovered if I took it with a glass of milk and some food in the morning I was alright.  After a year and a half, I can take it anytime with or without food or milk.

Sherry - So sorry the Effexor is already giving you problems.  Hope your body adjusts to it over time and that the meds take care of the hot flashes.

Sherry....sleep tight.  I've been doing the covers on covers off dance too.  And last night my feet were curling up they were cramping so badly.  And I'm off the tamoxifen...have been for almost a month now.

Jo...are you going to Roatan (Honduras) on your trip?  The second largest barrier reef in the world is there and the snorkeling is amazing.  In fact it is the best snorkeling we have ever done.  Tons of huge brain and fan coral and lots of fish.  And the best part is that at Tabyana Beach, they actually have people out in kayaks protecting the reef from stupid people who want to stand and walk on the coral.

1openheart - Yes, we are going to Roatan and I love to snorkel.  I am almost certain that Carnival does have a shore excursion for that.  Sounds like it would be loads of fun.

June - No!  You do not have to take a class first.  The first time we went, the guide told us how to put on our flippers, the mask and mouthpiece.  You have to breath out of your mouth instead of your nose.  I had a hard time with it at first but he told me to just relax, lay on top of the water and just look at the scenery.  It worked!!  Heck, come along with us and I will teach you - we will have a great time.

Jo...you must snorkel at Roatan.  We usually do Royal Caribbean and they have a Tabayana Beach Break excursion.  There are a couple of little shops at the beach that sells beautiful wooden bowls and containers for not very much money.  They also have some beautiful hand made hammocks.  I would have bought one but we don't have a place to hang it.  One bit of advice...don't buy the coffee beans.  They were awful.  But the wooden items are beautiful and well worth the money.  I have several around our home.  I also bought a beautiful vase that has sea turtles carved on it.  One of my favorite pieces.   Wish I were going!

1openheart - Okay!  You have talked me into it.  Snorkeling at Roatan.  Thanks for the advice on the coffee beans.  When we went to Jamaica, I would load up on the Blue Mountain coffee.  It is not cheap but oh so good.  I will have to look and see what excursions are available.  I can book at any time now.  The trip is paid for.  I usually wait until we are closer to going so I can use as many of my Carnival credit card points as I can.  When we went last year, all of our tours and my massage was paid for with points.  Gotta love it.  You are more than welcome to join us - the more the merrier.  We are sailing on Sept 2nd.

I would love to Jo.  Two things though...Sept. is not a good month for us this year and I'm not a Carnival fan.  We had a pretty bad trip on Carnival out of Galveston.  We have really enjoyed Royal Caribbean.
