alowen - I have to wonder why you are taking 40 mg when the standard dose is 20 mg. Some split their dose - others take it all at once. I take mine in the morning with breakfast. You should ask you MO about this.
June - Aw! Thanks. That is my four legged baby on my lap.
Paula - I know I could count on you for some eye candy for tomorrow. If you can't leave the brownies alone, would you please keep the mess to a minimum? LOL!
Tink - Hey stinkerdoodle - where are you????

Seriously just check out those abs......damn!

I was taking 20 mg. I'm still on my break until I see my MO in a couple of weeks. I wonder what she will suggest for me?

I had a busy weekend and was not on the boards. My oldest GH graduated HS so had to make a day trip to Houston for that. Then yesterday I spent the entire day putting up pickled okra a fresh sweet corn. I still have green beans to work on tonight then this week I need to get the black eyed peas and creams peas shelled and then put tomatoes up next Saturday as I have them running out my ears. Then I can relax and take a break.
Alowen congrats on finishing the savi one more thing to check off your list
Tink and Chaba happy belated cancerversaries
momx3-your rib thing could be caused from rads you should ask about that.
purple good luck on starting tammi
Jo and openheartand purple I'll be in your pockets for your party
Jo I love your new picture with your puppy
Ok so now I have a whine. The last couple of weeks my hot flashes are out of control. They had gotten like this right before I took my tammi holiday for surgery. I was so hoping they would not come back this bad. They were so bad coming back from Houston on Saturday that even DH made a comment about how many of them I was having. It was turn the a/c up full blast then turn it down. I have had to turn my a/c at home down really low at night but then it is a constant take the covers off then I am freezing and need them back on. At work I have to turn the fan on my desk on. I am not sleeping and refuse to go back on lunesta just because of tammi but I am not getting any sleep either. Weekends are better because I least I can sleep in and kinda make up for what I don't get at night. Oh here goes another one as I reach for my fan. I also refuse to take effoxer for the hot flashes. What's a girl to do. At least I am not having the achy joints this time around. On a good note I am getting a new desk at work today. Should make my computer use much more comfortable.
Happy MOnday all!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good MONDAY morning, except I'd still rather be sleeping!!! Long night.
I am so terrible today that I cant think straight and I am typing words 2 or 3 times to get them right... With that said, technically this is VERY long!!! HA HA HA HA!!!
Good luck with Dr. appts. today!!! We are hoping for only GOOD news:D
Sherry, as for my chest, I have no clue but my PTO did give me a "vibrator" (FUNNY) to work on my LE and different sponge attachments for my scars. I guess it's one those 'wonderful" gifts that I'll always keep! Oh well.

Hi all. I have been taking Tamoxofen now for 7 months. I recently started getting a pain in my hip area. I got a bone scan in March, negative, then had an xray about 3 weeks ago, negative and my blood work and calcium levels were fine. Onc is not worried but I kinda am. Is anyone eolse experiencing any joint pain from the tamoxifen? I have full range of motion but it aches, no particular time of day. I have been running the past 2 weeks and all the sudden I have terrible knee pain??? Any thoughts?

Back from my PS appt. Everything is settling nicely. Revision is scheduled for Aug 6th. Just a little tweaking left to be done. Didn't want to wait that long but that is okay. I get a break from the long drive and the appts.
Sherry - So sorry the hot flashes are back and making you miserable. At least you don't have the joint pains to deal with.
0 -
Sherry so sorry to hear you are so miserable. Sending you gentle hugs.
Jo I am so glad that things are looking good for you. That eye candy Paula gave you made you ohhhh so flirty today.. he he he Oh and sweet lady I never said I was innocent......that was Tink and now you can really laugh as we all know what she does with all her boy toys....just look in her closet!
Cheryl alot of my joint pain and achiness came well into my 2nd year. It got to the point that going down a flight of stairs was such a chore and I felt like a little old lady. I am only 46 and thought WTH, I cannot live like this for the next 3 years. I did suck it up everyday but now I am on a break due to stomach issues. GOOD LUCK and keep us posted.
Ok, rainy rainy day here as the whole week is supposed to be gloomy. I am so tired and want to nap.
Hugs all!

ckgrayoh, a lot of us have joint pain develop when taking tamoxifen. And we all seem to be searching for an effective, non-habit forming remedy.

June, you hit the nail on my head!!!! The aches and pains of this 46 yr old body makes me fear 86!! Stairs stink and so does the weather changes!!!
I don't think the onc worries about it because even though it's new to us, he sees it ALL the time!!!
June, go take your nap!!! You deserve it

Sherry,
My hot flashes have been TERRIBLE lately. It seems no mater what I do, I start to sweat. I was in the frozen food section of the grocery store the other day and normally I am FREEZING in that area, but I was so hot I couldn't stand it. And it seems like as soon as I get into bed every night I get one. I doesn't help that I have a Tempur-pedic mattress and those sleep hot anyway, so I kick the covers off as soon as I get in. Then I start freezing and the covers come back on. Hubby thinks it's a riot as I am always usually cold but when I get a flash, I want to stick my head in the freezer. But if he doesn't stop teasing me about this, I'm going to stick HIM in the freezer!!!!

Jo glad your appt went well and you have a date for your tweaking.
Deb I have a memory foam mattress so I know what you mean. As soon as I lay down the covers are off and then I am cold. This morning when I woak up with a hot flash I looked at the clock and I was to get up in 45 minutes so I said what the heck and got up and exercised, otherwise I would have just layed there waiting to cool off anyway. It does not help that it is so hot here in Texas. Everytime time I go outside and would be hot anyway I then get a hotflash on top of it. Sticking my head in the freezer sounds awefully tempting.

Just a quick note to check in. Am with all of you in pocket parties as needed. Jo, glad things are settling in!
Have been off tammi for over 10 weeks and hot flashes are finally settling down a bit - still have a few but not the frequency or severity. According to package info, hot flashes occur in about 20% of women on it, but I think that is a tremendous underestimate!!!!
Still having trouble with overall pain & fatigue and that damned (can I say that here??) neuropathy, so am not typing much, but think of you all often, read the boards, send up silent prayers & thoughts of lovingkindness for all of you.
I am headed for a 2-weeks in VT vacation in a few days. That is my healing place, and hope things will look much better after that R&R. I will check in periodically - in the meantime, try to get along in the pockets, share the chocolate, and Paula, keep that eye candy coming!!!

I have an upright freezer out in the garage. I bet if I removed all of the food, I could put my whole self inside. I would just need a hole for the breathing straw to stick out of!
I know the feeling of the covers on, covers off routine. I, too, was always the one cold in our relationship. Now, my poor husband cannot get with 5 inches of me in the bed or I start sweating....and NOT in a good way!

Well I have picked up my script for Tamoxifen and now the next thing I have to figure out is when should I start taking it?
Should I start tonight or wait until next monday (I'll be 40) to start taking it???
OD said I should take 10 mg 2X a day...

Lisak7290 I did mine at night thinking I could avoid alot of the SE. However I ended up with insomnia and then started taking in the morning. I wouldn't wait, I would just right in and take it from there. We are all here for you when and IF you develop problems. Good luck!
Linda are you on a break or off for good. I have 2 more weeks left to see my Onc as I am on a break as well and I have finished 10 weeks as well.......have fun on you vacation as it sounds like you really need it.

Sherry- yes...listening to our bodies is a good thing...we just don't always understand the messages...
Heartandsoul - glad you are considering the osteopath....i have not had hip issues since going...my flexibility is back...makes paddling easier too and ...well....sitting!
Just had a quick trip home to Ottawa...couldn't find my 85 year old 'aunt'...called on her birthday, called nt on her birthday..no answer...called at odd hours...no answer...booked a ticket home and tracked her down...hospital. Ends up she had a stroke on the 8th of May and was on her floor for 10 hours before anyone found her...and then only because she has a pact with a couple of girlfriends to call each other every morning at 7am....I got there in time to say goodbye to her...I think she knew I was there...and she died 6 hours later just as I was getting on my plane last night...found out at noon this morning and have been shattered ever since....just needed to tell my Tammisisters...too sad to go and paddle....mammogram #2 is next Tuesday....might need a pocket party!
Jo- glad things have worked out well...you have come a long way baby!

Oh Sandee so sorry you had to go through that but at least you got a few more hours with her. What a wonderful person you are to go to such great lengths to find what was wrong. My heart aches for you, luv ya!!!

Sorry, I did mean 20 mg, a typo. I found an article that discussed the possibility that lower doses may be as effective. They are doing clinical trials on this now. The lower dose would be 10 mg a day or every other day.
Randomized Trial of Low Dose Tamoxifen on Breast Cancer.. (google)

Sandee - So sorry for your loss. I sure it must be hard right now. (((HUGS)))
Yes, I have come a long way. The past 22 months have been long and hard. I know I would not have made it this far without the help of all my wonderful Tammi Sistas. You all are the best. Even with my recon revision 2 months away, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
June - How are you girlfriend? I see you on here more often and I think it is great. I would miss you when you were gone for long periods of time.
Tink, Paula, openheart and all the other Tammi Sisters - hope everyone is doing well.
Love ya'll

Jo - Glad the PS visit went well. Hang in there as each day you are closer to the end of treatment. Love the picture with puppy. He's adorable...
Sherry - I am sorry to hear you are having such a hard time with the hot flashes. Seems I freeze all day in my office only to hot flash the night away!
Sandee- So sorry for your loss. I hope your memories of your aunt will comfort you in this difficult time.
Lynda - Missed you girlfriend. Hope you have a wonderful time in Vt with tons of R&R!!!!
Was a rough day for me today as I was betrayed by a family member who I really liked and respected. As much as it hurts, I have to let go of things that are not good for me. Luckily I am a simple person so as long as I have my hubby & my puppies, life is good.
Happy Tuesday ladies.
