Tink - Where are you going and on what cruise line?
1openheart - Sorry to hear you had a bad experience on Carnival. We usually go out of Galveston but I did not want to do that route even though they have a brand new ship there. I wanted to try Royal Caribbean but DH thought the prices were higher and the cabins smaller.

Just wondering how bad are the mood swings and how long do they last?

All this talk about cruises sounds heavenly. We took a Carnival cruise a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. Want to try Royal Carribean to see which we like better.
Jo - Which ship are you going on? We went on "Carnival Dream". Nice ship.. Bet any bruising will fade and be a faint memory by the time you set sail.....
Speaking of dreams, Sherry - wishing you sweet dreams aplenty this evening.
June - I'd have chimed in sooner on the neighbor issue but didn't think "kicking ass" would be the best option however would be happy to help .
I understand the dilema and would have DS play with his friend outside (not in my pool) if her or her parents continue to be so disrespectful and hateful to your daughter. Wishing all my sistas a wonderful evening and happy Friday!!!

Cruise? So jealous! Hope you enjoy it greatly.

We go out of Galveston too. The port and terminal are pretty awful, but it is convenient. Yes, RC is a little more expensive than Carnival, but we feel it is worth the extra money. We found Carnival to be party central 24/7 and they constantly pushed the drinks while on the deck. RC is a more low key and we prefer that kind of atmosphere. But, a cruise is a cruise and I love them! Especially the days at sea... sitting on the deck with the wind blowing... maybe a pretty drink or beer now and again and reading a good book. Ahh.....heaven!

Odie - We are sailing on the Legend in 87 days but who is counting?? LOL! I hope I am all healed by the time we go. Revision is on the 6th of Aug and we leave home on the 30th which is my 2 year cancerversary. I just want to be able to go snorkeling.
1openheart - Here are some pretty drinks for us to share.

Yummmmmmm......
Jo, did you ask your surgeon how long it will before you can swim after the revision? Mine said about 6 weeks before I could get into a pool, ocean or lake water. I could bathe before that, but that is clean water.

1openheart - No I did not. Have not asked too many questions yet since I am still in a hurry up and wait mode. The revision will be done in the office. He said he will make an incision and move the muscle over a bit to even me out. Right now it looks like I have a bubble handing down on the bottom side. But I will add that to my list of questions.

All this cruise talk is making me jealous. Update I did not sleep well again last night. Woke up at 3:30 with jitters and racing heart feeling but no nausea. Dosed off a couple of times but no real sleep. Once I got up and started getting ready for work I started getting nauseated. Have taken prilosec and zofran and it is a little better. Also my eyes are a little blurry but I also have a terrible cold right now so I don't know which is causing it. I told my boss I don't think I'll make it all day, I'll probably go home at lunch. I called the nurse and the Dr was not in yet so she is going to talk to him and call me back. I don't know if my body will get used to this Effexor and also I have taken it at night maybe I need to take it in the AM. I'll see what the MO has to say when the nurse calls me back.

Sherry - What you are describing is some of the side effects I was experiencing when I started Effexor. My eyes did get blurry and the nausea was terrible. I never did adjust to it - went off it after about 3 weeks. I did try taking it at night and in the morning. Be interested in hearing what you MO says.

Sherry....so sorry last night was not better. Hope you were able to leave early and get some rest!!! Hugs
Jo...you bet!!!

Tink... you will love the Disney cruise. The Fantasy is an absolutely amazing ship. We have gone on 3 Disney's cruises without a kid in tow. And Castaway Cay is beautiful. The adult beach is a little bit of heaven on earth. Have fun!

Oh Sherry I'm so sorry that your having a hard time with the Effexer. I wouldn't blame you one bit if you stopped taking it. I was the same way with the gabapiten. I only lasted 3 days on that.
All this cruise talk sounds like fun. I know I will never go, so I love getting to live thru all of you!!!

The effexor is well known for bad side effects. One word of caution- IF you do decide to go off do so slow and soon. I have heard it is THE toughest anti- d. to " hop off of ' after a few mos. time.
Will celexa or lexapro help you at all?
(Perhaps ask your DR ?)
Good luck to you!0 -
Paula now why is it you would never go on a cruise? I know for me, I get nauseaus from the motion and don't do well. I do hear the big boats are not that bad but I don't want to be stuck sick the whole time and hubby thinks being in the middle of the ocean is too freakish for him. SO he would be a real downer to go with.
Sherry I am so sorry you are having such a hard time with this. Is there anything else you can take with less SE?
Oh okay I am a little embarrassed to tell you that I went out to lunch with hubby yesterday and had 1 too many martinis and ended up sicker that sick yesterday. So no more alcohol for me for a very very long time. And trust me as I never thought I would ever say that.......and Paula stop laughing it was not funny!

June - I think it is hilarious!!!! I would have loved to see that one. You don't have to wait for a very, very long time. Just limit yourself next time.

June, just read your post about the douchebag "parent". I feel for you. I've been thru it before with a neighborhood parent. I just told my son that if she ever started ragging on him, he was to tell her that if she had a problem w/him, that she was supposed take it up with his mom. It stopped the crap to the face, which was good for her, cause I woulda beat a bitch down!

Lori I love your phrase douchebag parent, you are too funny! Good advice. We still haven't talked to the idiot yet, my thing I want to stress to him is to be an adult and stop acting like a child.
Jo you crack me up, not sure I want to think about alcohol for a while now......my husband thinks I got alcohol poisoning as he says I have consumed 3 martinis and never got sick before....oh well!

Does any one get an allergy looking reaction on their forearm and top of their hands? I'm attributing this to the T. It doesn't itch but has gotten worse over the past several - not my imagination, my boss at work sees it too. Pharmacist felt should call the Dr but will see Oncologist on the 20th and GP on the 18th.
I'm thinking it's the T or but the thought it might be Lupus showing up jumped in my thoughts. No, haven't ever been dx'd with it previously but we know I have something autoimmune no one has ever been able to pinpoint. Have been having more swelling problem with the non-SNB side for LE which is the same forearm acting up with skin reaction too. No itch, no fever.
Have tried switching back to previous body soap/wash but doesn't make a difference.

JUne I could not help but laugh at your martini story.
Jo this neusea has been the pits
purple I don't think you can take Celexa with tamoxifen. Lexapro may be OK but not sure if it works for hot flashes. Seems all the MO's want to put you on effexor for the hot flashes.
So update came home at lunch friday after I finished publishing the newsletter. As bad as I was feeling I probably have mistakes, but oh well. Nurse finally called me back and i don't think she communicated very well to the doctor because his instructions were for me to double the dosage. I felt to bad to argue with the nurse, but no way was a doubling my dosage. But I thought about it later and one of the SE's I was having was jittery, heart racing, nervousness. I think he must have thought I was having an anxiety attach. Anyway I did not take it friday night and waited until Saturday morning to take it and then kept my Zofran on hand. Took 1/2 a pill 3 times on Saturday but was able to keep ahead of the neausea and get my tomatoes canned. Did the same thing today but so far only 2 dosages. Did not sleep well at all. I'll see how tomorrow goes and If not much better I'll probably just have to go in and see the MO. The alternative I have is Megace and I'm not comfortable taking it without sitting down and talking to the MO about it. I have not taken my tamoxifen since Wed as I had to have some relief from the hot flashes. Thought I would get the effexor in me and then go back on it. I have said lately how I hate drugs!!!!!!!!!
Hope all of you have had a great weekend.

Hello Everyone,
It's been months since I have been on here but here I ago again with the same old questions to everyone.
Has anyone out there been able to loose weight since being on Tamoxifen? I went through chemo at Age 42 and haven't had a period in 2 years. I gained weight during chemo and more since being on Tamoxifen. I was doing really well at working out several different times but get discoursed and give up because I never loose an ounce no matter what I do or what I eat. I used to be a size 2 and now I am creeping into a 12. Don't get me wrong, I am so grateful to be alive but I am having a horrible time with what I am left with where my body is concerned. It has taken it's toll on my husband too. I have no desire for sex because of the way I feel about myself as well the Tamoxifen has effected my drive as well. Sorry for TMI!!!
Appreciate any comments!

Sherry - I'm sure it has. Effexor really messed with my stomach and me in general. Felt lightheaded, nauseated and jus plain out of sorts.
OKAY Ladies! Pocket party first thing in the morning. Going for my 6 month MO appt. Nothing earth shattering. Will get labs and my bi annual grope. Whoopee! Thank goodness my MO is absolutely gorgeous. Bring breakfast and coffee if you like.

Scarlettohred ~ when I started Tamox I got real serious about losing weight and started a walking program which I was able to drop 20 lbs. within the first 5 months. Well after a year of keeping the weight off I started noticing I was packing on a few lbs each month and within a year I am pretty much back to where I started. Now I am actually on a break and I think from stopping the damn Tamox I put on at least 6-8 more lbs. It is really frustrating but I never had to do chemo and i hear that can totally be a weight gainer. You look awfully tiny to me! Hang in there and lean on all us women as they give me the strength to carry on each and every day.
Sherry my heart aches for you as I cannot believe you cant seem to catch a break!! I don't know how you do it. You are an amazing woman! Hang in there.

Yes, you can actually, My MO had advised me it was okay, but I did check for myself. ( see link above)
Thx anyways, though :>)

Hi June
You said : "Scarlettohred ~ when I started Tamox I got real serious about losing weight and started a walking program which I was able to drop 20 lbs. within the first 5 months. So, are you saying then that tamoxifen may have made it *easier* for you to lose weight ?I'm a little confused since most ppl. seem to complain of GAINING with it. Having said that , it seems many ppl are (also) on effexor or another anti-D which are notorious for weight gain.
Thx for any clarification.
