My condolences, TT. Sorry about the toe.
We went SUPping yesterday morning as a trio on one SUP (DD, the dog and me). It was quite unstable so ended up in the water a few times. Sammy had a vest on but he still did not look like he was enjoying the water. I ended up paddling while on my butt or knees and DD swimming alongside.
Had a morning stretch routine today and going off to the gym while DD, DH and the dog are off hiking.

out on Little Narragansett Bay! Feeling great.0 -
Back from my cycling for oysters adventure. I beat the heat as a deligtful breeze off the Samish Bay and the oysters were sublime. So was the geoduck (a large clam, pronounced gooey-duck). Quads are trying to have a conversation, but I am ignoring them. Pictures and more later. Total of 35 miles.
Will be cooler tomorrow. Suspect that I will sleep super-well. One bonus of the ride is that I got to the fabulous bakery in Edison too late to snag the bread I ususally buy. But they were closed and baguettes were in a basket for the taking. I could scarcely believe my good fortune and was able to attach it to my paniers. It made it back to my car intact, no small feat. Had with my salad tonight and fresh local peaches and will have more for breakfast.
Just divine. Signed "Blissed Out in Seattle"

Blissed out, sounds like a great day. Martaj, must have been fun out on the bay.
Went paddle boarding in the afternoon, this time on calmer waters, with no passengers. Did some cardio kickboxing in the morning

Claire - I don't see you ever being a lady of leisure - maybe not fully employed but you will always be busy and moving. I think Labor is in 3 weeks - it's September 6. Rosh Hashanna starts Labor Day night, so that is why I know 3 weeks - need to start planning meals etc.
Summer vacation has officially come to an end (what little I had - I worked 14 days this summer). Tomorrow is first day for staff and next week for students.
It's been HOT here - yesterday afternoon I went for a walk and I was soaked when I got done. We walked early this morning.
Have a great rest of Sunday

We had a wonderful sending off for my aunt yesterday. It's very, very good to be able to spend time with my mom's family! This morning my brother and I took a 5 mile walk across a bridge from Minnesota to Wisconsin. I fly back home tomorrow afternoon.

Ruth, great pic with your bro. That is a looong bridge!
A stand up paddler found this dead 30 year old fish yesterday. I actually paddled by this same spot. (Picture courtesy of the newspaper Blick)
Heading for the gym today.

Wow, that is one really big fish! (And that man is braver than I and must be scent-challenged to be willing to be so close to it...)
I am happy to report that after a series of small and ridiculous trials and tribulations that nearly derailed me at multiple points this morning, I DID A THING! I did a HIIT workout -- the first Zombies, Run! workout. I walked the dog for an hour and then it was so weirdly lovely and cool out that I thought, "I'd better take advantage of this first beautiful day in a long time, quick, before it gets hot or I change my mind!" -- and I did it!
35 min of walk/jogging later, I came inside, stretched, did some PT exercises, stretched some more, and was ready to start my day. It feels good to have that done, and my current plan is to try again Wednesday, barring extreme weather.

Well after a too too slow yoga class yesterday, the lunch time class today nearly kick my butt! Felt like leaving half way through but stayed so feel good for that.
Agree that fish is WAY TOO BIG to be swimming with (and I scuba dive so that is saying something).
Happy Monday all...first day back to school. TT

I would fall off my board if I came upon a fish like that!!
Good job, saltmarsh!
Good luck with the beginning of school year, TT!
My brother, SIL and I took a walk around their lovely Victorian town (including down & back up the steps in the picture). Now I'm in the airport waiting for the plane to take me home.

I didn't even like looking at the photo - I'm a wimp!!!
Ruth - great photo of you, brother and SIL
It's hot out - walked when I got home from work - didn't walk during the day so was stressed when I got home.
Met with a gf the other day for lunch and then again last night with her DH - we were friends over 30 years ago, but lost tough over the years after they moved back to Germany in the early 90s. When we met for lunch it was last week that we saw each other. Nice to catch up and get back in touch.

Zumba and Barre Sculpt today.

Karen, nice to get back in touch with old friends. Ruth, I love your hats! Saltmarsh, good job. I used that Zombies app to get me from couch to 5K. It is still rare that I run 5K but 4K is somewhat normal and that's way better than 0K, sitting or even walking (unless it's steeply inclined).
After my first foray into a Zumba live class in 18 months, I am not going again until the pandemic is over. I left after 5 minutes. It was more crowded than I had ever seen it and people were supposed to register in advance at that. No one was checking though. Ugh. So I ran on the treadmill which is at least separated by acrylic barriers and in front of open windows. In general I'm not sure I will renew my summer subcription for another 3 months with the delta variant going around and vaccine hesitancy here.
0 -
Geez, that is discouraging, Heidi. We still have to register for classes here AND you have to check in at the front desk to verify that you have done so. If we were crammed together, like we were before Covid, I wouldn't be going either.

We walked out by a lake & had break on the deck of a cabin owned by a member's son. I am posting this particular picture so you can see how weird the sky is with all the smoke.

My exercise for the day was to put the new cat tree I got for my cats. Just finished and I feel likeI need a nap already!

Went to Pound this morning, did errands & yard-work this afternoon. No exercise tonight; it's DH's birthday & we're going out to dinner!

Wow, ruthbru, that picture from yesterday is beautiful and also eerie!
Walked the dog for an hour today. That's all.

Happy Friday,
Gorgeous Colorado day - not too hot, blue sky and light breeze. Looking forward to a long walk later this afternoon. I'm treating myself to a mani/pedi so I want all the cooking and cleaning up done. Most is done, but making cookies.
Survived first week of the school year. The kiddos start next week.
Denver's mayor is requiring full vaccination for health care, schools and several other fields. I'm looking forward to getting my 3rd shot end of September. At our synagogue, we've had at least 12 people who are fully vaccinated test positive for Covid. Our synagogue is now implementing the same rules as the spring. I went to be tested today, as I was in the building for a meeting Monday and I don't think it will be positive, but I"m going to start every other week testing now that we are back in school till cases decline. Masks are required at school for everyone and meetings are staying virtual. Covid is a moving target and still lots not known but we have more cases now than in May. It's got to get better!!
Have a wonderful week-end.

Hi everyone!
Yesterday I walked my dog for and hour and then got very lucky! My dad was able to borrow some kayaks for us and he and I and my teenager went for a paddle. My kiddo isn't much for nature (apple:tree) but even he enjoyed getting up close and personal with mallards, Canada geese ("They're so BIG!") and a blue heron. And any time he and his Grampi can spend together is all to the good.
Today, walked my little dog for 45 min before the mosquitoes did me in. We're giving a tour in an hour, and that usually means at least a couple kilometers of walking, and we'll see how I feel after that. I *should* try to do my PT exercises today.

We hiked with the dogs this afternoon & I did a 45 minutes toning DVD. No exercise yesterday as I out of town, but we got some glorious rain (for the first time this summer!)

No outside activities today. Hurricane Henri bearing down on us big time here in Westerly, RI. We live on shore line, storm surge is supposed to be big. Stay safe my New England friends

Martaj and all the other gals back east stay safe.
They are saving booster/3rd shot 8 months after 2nd shot, so that is late September for hubby and me. I can't wait. When we had serology tests, my numbers were way lower than my hubby -he had more than 50% more. If antibodies decline with time, by the end of September, I won't have many left.
DH wants to get a new front door - I told him not till we paint the outside of the house. Front and back doors are probably the original, almost 40 years old. Last time we painted, our son did it. He's working too many hours to do it now. I'm going to suggest to hubby that find find a reasonably priced painter to do the outside before the end of the year as he is thinking or retiring - and would rather spend the $ now than after he retires.
Yesterday, I sat outside all afternoon reading and finished a book in one day - i've read 3 books by the same author and love them all. Need to find more books. I still did my cubii, hour walk in the morning and 30-45 minutes in the afternoon.
Have a great Sunday.

Oh, goodness. Martaj, hope you all were spared any damage. The storm ended up basically washing out for us, so after getting up extra early to walk Little Miss Dog in the dark today in order to make sure she had a decent walk, it turns out it wasn't necessary after all. But I'd rather have a storm be not-as-bad-as-expected than the alternative!
Does anyone else here feel like they wake up in the morning with all the energy/good intentions to exercise and then family stuff just gets in the way? I have really got to find a way to put myself/my exercise first in the mornings. I don't even want to type this, but: when my dog dies, it'll be super-easy to put myself first, since I'll get my first 60+ minutes of my mornings back all to myself. But I don't want to think about that, and having a workable plan in the meanwhile would be a win.

Hope all you East Coast ladies are staying safe. Very scary!
Karen, I already wrote down the first date I will be eligible for the booster on my calendar (November 18th). What intriguing book are you reading>
Saltmarsh, it's always a trade off, isn't it?! I adore Bruno & he's lots of fun, but things were sure a lot easier without a puppy!
I went to Barre Sculpt & did 30 minutes of dancing with Marshall Fitness. Bruno did a couple different play-dates with Ivy, our neighbor dog & his girlfriend. Ivy's family will be out of state for a family wedding so she will be at a kennel for a week...which will make Bruno pretty sad!

Hope Henri does not wreck too much havoc and everyone stays safe. Supposedly Henri is just half the strength of Sandy (in terms of wind and storm surges).
I will be due end of December for a booster shot. I may delay a few months with the thought that two shots will likely lower risk of severe disease anyway whereas vaccine inequity deprives someone from getting a life-saving first shot. And if I do get a breakthrough infection, than I probably won't need a booster shot for another six months if at all. Who knows. I wish reality were a whole lot neater (in moral terms).
Went hiking this weekend in the French part. I was at a place called "Le Lieu" or The Place, at the border of "Le Revers" or The Reverse. Funny names. Sammy made great progress on coming when called.
I had my sprint exercise snack along with the dog's morning toilet run. More sprint snacks later as well as Zumba online.

Well, I'm glad I hopped out of bed early this morning to walk the dog! The bugs drove us back in after 45 min. After that we started getting tornado alerts and then warnings, and it didn't seem wise to leave the house. We had a few dicey hours here, with a tornado actually visible both one town over, and then another one in our town. It set my nerves on edge for hours, but I'm finally starting to relax a little.
Hope y'all had good days!

Hi everyone,
Trying to keep a work-exercise balance going. Had to bag my planned ride on Saturday because of a (lucrative) project that showed up on Thursday and was due this morning. So downsized to a couple of good walks that I could do from here. Had a BBQ with a friend and his son/parents/dogs on Sunday. Population density in his smallish house plus downstairs apartment has increased from 1 adult, one teen to 4 adults, one teen and from one to four dogs!
He bought the house just before prices went crazy from the Covid market, and I had helped them move in.
Yesterday, I got the answer to one of the questions that I was wondering about: I had exercised throughout chemo and radiation and I didn't experience chemo brain other than a what would normally be associated with general tiredness when I needed a nap. It looks like I had been onto something! In general, my brain works better when I am well-exercised which was true before I was diagnosed and it's true now.
Here is the research. Very interesting and more reason to keep it in gear! Physical activity linked to stronger cognitive function among women with breast cancer (healio.com)
Just glorious weather here. The past 3 days were quite autumnal and it's in the mid 40s right now. The hot days are history. We should get much-needed rain towards the end of the week. I snacked on blackberries during my walk yesterday. Divine.
Got to get my brain revved as a busy day today. BTW - one way to up mileage walking is to do errands on foot where possible. Usually, only adds a few minutes and it's easy to sneak in a mile or more.
Happy exercising! - Claire

Claire, I completely believe that continuing to exercise and work is what kept my brain (and the rest of me) healthier during chemo, radiation, AIs etc. etc. etc.
We had a big wind storm last night; so Bruno & I picked up branches and twigs for an hour before I went to Zumba. Barre Sculpt tonight, errands & dog stuff in-between.
