Saltmarsh: That's great news! Have fun on your bike.

Ruth: What a wonderful celebration for your aunt and uncle. 65 years is amazing! Good picture of the WWW. Looks cold!

M0mmy: I need your energy to clean my house.

Karen: I can feel your happiness all the way in North Carolina!

Heidi: A sailing trip sounds like so much fun!

Hi Everyone! It's been hot and mainly humid here. I've walked/ran the last 5 out of 7 days. The humidity is stressful so I try not to overdo it. It also has driven me inside so I've been painting and even crafting some to stay active.

This is an old oyster shell that said "I'm a turtle" when I saw him on the beach. He's on my deck railing now.

    Wonderland, that turtle is amazing.

So, I got cleared to use my bike as a stationary bike (on a trainer), but I don't actually *have* my bike right now because I lent it to my son's best friend. He'll be bringing it back by Sunday. Meanwhile, I've been getting exercise trying to clear the space in my attic I have designated as an exercise area! Interestingly, one of the things blocking my path in that corner is an old bin of Christmas decorations left by the last person who lived here -- Christmas decorations that included many small red felt "gifts" that actually were bags of sand! When I first found it, I was like, "What the heck? I have to carry 50lbs of sand out of our attic. Thanks a lot, former owner. Also, why the heck did you store sand on the third floor when you had a gardening shed just off the living room???"

However, that sand is about to help me out! Because a while back, I ordered a punching bag...the kind that's weighed down with water or...sand... in the base. And something made me so mad today that I was like, "You know what I need to do? Inflate that punching bag!" So I lugged all the sand downstairs and went and got a funnel, and started filling it. Unfortunately, I was interrupted by my beagle, who decided I was sitting still long enough for her to crawl into my lap. But this is a good project for me to do bit by bit anyway, so pretty soon I'll have a punching/kicking bag!

Also, the woman from the local Livestrong program has finally gotten back to me and said they are starting up a new program in mid-October, and I am IN! Which means I'll get to work out twice a week for an hour with other people with cancer, and hopefully have encouragement and camaraderie!

Beautiful Bruno! Wonderland, your artist antennae are spot on - a turtle indeed! Good news Saltmarsh, Livestrong is an excellent program.

It's been quite awhile since I've been here and I am a busy bee. September is the January of the fitness world with gyms are open and trying to thrive, despite Covid numbers. I've signed a year contact with Parkinson's UK and started a class last week in a community center for those with advanced Parkinson's and their carers. Teaching new BodyBalance/Flow #93 release and my Pink Ribbon Pilates is going through a quiet phase with roughly 5 showing up per class. Yoga For Cancer class is small and strong as are Pilates and yin yoga. Dh's heart issues continue, son still looking for a job and we are experiencing a a warmish' Indian summer here in the hinterlands of Kent, UK. Let's keep at it!

I did a lot of things yesterday, but none of them involved exercise. I went to PiYo this morning (the instructor had taken the summer off, so it was good to be back) and hiked with dogs. We are invited to a big wedding later this afternoon, but with all the Covid numbers going up (and the number of vaccinated people in my state), we have decided to skip the ceremony, stop briefly at the reception & get the heck out of there. Argh! This is the second year of ruined wedding (and we are at the age where many of our friend's kids are getting married, so it is discouraging.

I rowed yesterday (not much time left to be on the water Bawlingand once again I flipped. My balance has been getting worse since I had anaplasmosis this summer and I am so darned discouraged. I have an onc appt tomorrow about it -- since it is likely the neuropathy getting worse, I just don't know why since I finished the kadcyla on New year's Eve. I am certainly hoping it has nothing to do with mets. I can't get in to neurology (for a video visit!!!) until November. In the meantime, rowing has really been my mental salvation, so this is discouraging. I did tell my coach I will probably be more comfortable in multiperson boats for the time being. I can row a single with pontoons, but I tried it once it it felt like I was perched way above the water and it was awkward :(

My strength training I put on hold for a bit as I have developed tendonitis is my elbow, but I did training again on Friday and will try to get some in today, but I have MOUNTAINS of laundry yet to put away (and in some cases, iron) and the kitchen and dining table I need to really really tackle. And I am just now getting breakfast :D

I have been lurking here a bit but have been too busy to post. I LOVE seeing everyone's photos and hearing about adventures near and far!

The picture shows my workout partner of 6 years, Wylie. She has missed our six days a week runs and walks while I recuperated from surgery on 08/18. Sundays are our rest days, and we stroll to the lake to spend time in the sun and close to the water. We both carried that same face of joy this morning, getting back to what we both love after a month away.

Yeslama, how frustrating! I hope your doctor can give you some answers. Yes, do the multiple person rowing for now!

What a great exercise buddy you have, wondering44! Glad that you are both back in action.

Here's my hiking companions today. I also went to Barre Sculpt. I got zero else done but better do a load of laundry if I want to go to bed tonight as the sheets are in the basket!

I'm pulling for you, YeslamaDragon. I hope you are able to get some answers from your oncologist tmw, and that you are able to keep rowing.

Wylie is a cutie! We went to a street fair today, and I chose to avoid all the junk food and focus on dogs instead. Among others, there were two beautiful Great Danes, one giant basset hound, a beautiful Great Pyrenees/Newfie mix, and Aussie shepherd puppy, and the most adorable, scruffy little terrier with terrier fur and beagle coloring. Oh, my heart!

So, I finished making space in the attic for my stationary bike set-up and for my punching (well, for now, kicking) post. And I've put all the sand into the base of the post, but after hunting everywhere I could not find our bike pump today to inflate the top part. DH says he has a pump in his garage we can use tmw. I've got my Livestrong assessment a week from tomorrow, so all that's left for me to try to schedule now is my PT appointments now that I'm out a couple weeks post-op, which I will be doing first thing tomorrow!

I did not walk my dog today (I was up all night last night for no evident reason, so my husband took pity on me and did her walk this morning), so I've just done my PT and a couple minutes of yoga, and now I'm off to bed.

I tried a new class called SH1FT and L1FT. It's a combination of body weight and light weight exercises. I wouldn't say that I liked it, but it was good for me. DH, Bruno & I then went on a fun hike and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather.

Okay, so I'm on my new schedule. Monday I got up and walked the dog and did a half hour on the bike. Yesterday I got up and walked the dog and did a 22 min yoga flow video. Today I got up and walked the dog and did 25 min on the bike. This is the new pattern. Plus PT. Plus Livestrong when it starts (I may adjust the mornings I have LS days).

    This feels good.

Went to my yearly check-in my cardiologist. With all the walking I did between getting to and from there and a side trip to Dunkin afterwards for a treat, I did 5,000 steps. Now sitting for a bit before I get a couple of things done.

    I love everyone's pictures.

I have my Livestrong assessment today, so I'm excited for that! Well -- nervous, too. I'm scared I'll suck at everything. I'm scared I'll be the weakest one in the program and will just feel pathetic. Part of me just wants to be like, "This is too hard, I'm running away!" before it even starts. But I'll make myself go. I'm trying to remember to just be grateful and that I really need to do this whether I enjoy it or not.

My kiddo came back from a weekend away with his dad with a cold, so he's home sick today. Wheee! That said, I'm super-glad my DH works from home, so when I have my assessment, my little guy won't be home sick, alone.

Let us know how the assessment goes, Saltmarsh. It doesn't matter where you start; it matters THAT you start, and the results will be very, very satisfying!

I went to a fun Pound class (my favorite teacher was subbing) and am now doing the dreaded cleaning the house thing.

Did the Livestrong assessment. RHR was 78 and after the warmup was 98. Much to my surprise, when they tested my lower body strength, the upper range of my squat presses was 250 lbs. Which is basically my weigh plus my son's and since I still pick him up and hug him from time to time, I guess that makes sense. I just never would have guessed I could do that much without thinking about it in context.

There will be six of us in the class - 5 women and 1 guy, and the guy is my neighbor (who's had esophageal cancer), so I'm looking forward to meeting the other women. I'm glad I didn't write this off and I'm happy to have a plan and some accountability built in!
