DH and I went to the mountains for a couple days.Left Tuesday and arrived to rain, lucky to get a walk in after dinner. Two gorgeous days yesterday and today. Yesterday hike a trail that is about 1 1/2 hours straight up. Lots of stopping and huffing and puffing. We do that trail once/year. Today hiked our favorite trail. It will only let me post 1 photo at a time. Came home this afternoon.image

Beautiful picture, Karen! No formal exercise for me today unless I can motivate myself to do something yet tonight.

I tried something new this morning; Poolside Yoga. Good teacher, good class, but it was in a very hot, humid room around a therapy pool. I do NOT like being that hot so it won't be one I'll go to very often. I had my carpets cleaned yesterday, so went I go home from class, I started putting things in place, cleaning as I went along, so that is done for awhile. This afternoon, DS & fiance have invited us, her folks & two friends of theirs (also engaged) to go to an Open House for a new wedding venue that is opening in town. A perk of getting along really well with your future DIL is that you get invited to do some of the fun wedding 'stuff'!

Ruth - do they have a wedding date yet?

Broke record yesterday 100F and 100F forecast for today. Way too HOT for me.

    Have a great Sunday.

Heidi: Congratulations!!!!!!!! So good to hear from you!

jo: Hot and humid are a terrible combination for exercise. I do what I can in the summer during the cooler part of the day.

Karen: Pretty picture! Looks like a great place to hike.

Ruth: Did your ds and future dil like the venue?

Hi All! Back from our beach trip. Had a fabulous time. It only rained on the 4th but stopped in the afternoon so we were able to enjoy the fireworks the town put on. Went swimming and walking every day. Ate and drank very well - probably a little too well. I'm staying away from the scales for awhile.

Edited to add: It's been raining on and off today. So needed! We haven't mowed in over 3 weeks. May do it this week depending if this rain makes it grow. It's 66 degrees and cloudy now and I'm loving it.

We had a crazy storm early this morning. Along with branches all over the yard, and a couple of my flower pots being tipped over and thrown to the ground (smashing the flowers within), it split the big tree by our deck almost in half and the whole top of the tree in splayed across the roof. Not good, we will have to get a hold of the insurance & tree removal people tomorrow.

Glad you had fun at the beach, Alice! The wedding venue was awesome. On the edge of our town was an old abandoned church camp right by the river in a beautiful setting. Some young entrepreneurs bought it. Razed some of the old buildings, restored several others, landscaped, build a brand new events building, and will be renting the place out for weddings, reunions etc. etc. They do all the set up, take-down, catering etc. etc. etc. all for an reasonable rate. The kids (and we all) loved it, and they booked a date: September 30, 2023!

The building in the foreground is one of the old buildings being restored as a chapel. In the back is the event center.

This is the old building they are restoring to be the chapel. They are putting in a new stage in the next couple weeks, will get rid of the old lighting and put up twinkling lights around the ceiling. The awesome part is that all the walls, except where the stage is, open to the outdoors, as does the ceiling, and can close up if the weather is bad. White chairs for the guests are part of the deal. I put in a picture of the river just for fun.

Ruth - how exciting!!! the venue sounds lovely! The wedding date seems so far off, but the time will go so fast. Look forward to hearing details of the wedding.

101F today! Yesterday, 100F broke a record. Thankfully tomorrow will only be in the 80s.

Walked early this morning and around 8 tonight - spent the rest of the day in the house - packing. Tonight spent just shy of 2 hours on hold with AC to be sure we can leave the airport between flights with a 17 hour overnight layover. Thankfully we go a YES! The reason we were worried is that the letter we got and the AC reservations both said can't leave!!! At our age, sure didn't want to sleep in the airport. Tomorrow my plan is to get a mani/pedi - my finger nails are awful. Will putter in the house before then. We leave Tuesday afternoon. My checked bag is just below the 50# limit - but the bottom half (duffle bag has 2 parts) is filled with stuff for DD#2. Have some things in carry-on for DD#1. Because so many stories of lost luggage, DH and I each put some stuff in each other's bag and have a few days change of clothes in carry-on.

    Have a great Monday!

    Sweet dreams.

Oh Karen, how exciting that the trip is nearly at hand! Fingers crossed for uneventful travels. Once you get there, I know you will have a wonderful time.

I am going to Dance2fit this morning & Pound later today. My body & scale both tell me that I need to get back into a normal schedule. We are getting a break from the heat, but it looks like it will be back by the weekend.

Karen: Have a FABULOUS trip! Happy that you received the Okay to leave the airport. Wouldn't want to stay in an airport for 17 hours!

Ruth: Did the tree damage your roof? Love the wedding venue! The open or closed walls are amazing. And you have a date! YES!

M0mmy: Congratulation on selling your house and getting to move back to your home state!

Walked/ran this morning. This afternoon I made 3 loaves of zucchini blueberry bread plus zucchini soup. Our blueberry bushes were loaded when we came home from the beach. Froze plenty of them. Probably have 2 to 3 more weeks for picking berries. Lots of giant zucchini were in the garden thus the bread and soup lol.

Tried to check in online and realized my first name was spelled wrong - Kaaren instead of Karen - first flight is on United and they made a note in their system. Air Canada are the rest of the flights and they said they couldn't do it on the phone unless I cancelled the ticket and bought a new one at today's price - thanks but no thanks. Sure hope I don't have problems. The gal at AC seemed to say that United would print my boarding passes with the correct name. I guess I'll find out tomorrow!!

Much more pleasant weather today - in the 80s but 90s again tomorrow.

Will walk early in the morning, then walk in the airport before our flight.

    Sweet dreams

    Safe & Happy Travels, Karen.

Wonderland, the tree is leaning on the deck railing, I HOPE that braced it's fall & that it is gently lying on the roof. You can't tell from the ground & the tree people can't get here until Thursday, so time will tell.

Tomorrow my Book Club goes on our annual field trip (for the first time in 3 years). We go to a larger city 100 miles away and shop, eat, spend time at Barnes & Noble, shop & eat some more. I am not sure if I'll get any exercise in, depends on what time we get home.

    Great picture, Ruth!

Walked/ran yesterday but not today. Ate the first tomato from the garden last night. So good! Dh came into the house today with yet another zucchini that grew into a baseball bat over night lol. It's crazy fun!

Rant: I so hate what has happened to BCO. Logging on is a ridiculous process. My dx of er/pr is still wrong. Should be er+pr-. I have reported it but that's as far as it's gotten. Really feel for any new people here. They have no idea what this used to be.

Edit: Well, I take back my rant about my pr. The mods had sent me a pm yesterday about it and I didn't see it until today. They had me change it under my profile page. It worked. Still don't like what has happened to the site. Very sad.

Ruth: It's difficult to log on both my phone and computer. Too many steps.

Met a friend this morning for walk and talk. Her son is also engaged and getting married September 2023. He lives in Boston and getting married at a similar place as your ds, Ruth. It was a camp that they have converted over to a venue. Guests can stay in the cabins.

All went well with the flights - except leave Denver, our flight left 2 hours late - all after we boarded. Traffic slowed the departure from gate, then lightening strike shut down the ramp, then backed up traffic to leave the gate and once we left the gate long line for runway. We didn't arrive till midnight then it took an hour to get our luggage. We didn't want DD to drive to airport at 1:00am so took a taxi. Got to her house and didn't get to bed to 2:00am. Up at 8:00. Ran a couple errands with her, then off to the airport. From time we left airport to returning was 12 hours and half were sleeping!!!! At least we'll have 5 days with DD and SIL in 3 weeks. Second part of trip was uneventful but long. The row behind us only had one person so I told the kid at the window thinking he would move - but nope, he was happy to be 3 in a row with his window seat. DD#2 met us at the apartment for dinner last night. It was great to see hear and get one of her big hugs. We will spend Shabbat together then take her to her apt Sunday morning and we will head north for 4 days of vacationing. She is busy with finals.

The tree people are coming to get the tree off our roof this morning; the guy says it will be 'tricky' & will take about 4 hours and a whole bunch of money. DH will stay around to supervise & I will bring Bruno over to DS's as I am pretty sure he would not be very much help!!!

    Have a fabulous trip Karen!!!

Ruth: How did the tree removal go? Good thing Bruno left the property. You may want to touch base with your homeowner's insurance to see if they will pays towards the bill.

Dh and I pushed mowed today. I did 80 minutes of it. It's been exactly 4 weeks since we last mowed. Very unusual! Parts of the yard really didn't need it. We need rain.
