Safe & Happy Travels, Karen.
Wonderland, the tree is leaning on the deck railing, I HOPE that braced it's fall & that it is gently lying on the roof. You can't tell from the ground & the tree people can't get here until Thursday, so time will tell.
Tomorrow my Book Club goes on our annual field trip (for the first time in 3 years). We go to a larger city 100 miles away and shop, eat, spend time at Barnes & Noble, shop & eat some more. I am not sure if I'll get any exercise in, depends on what time we get home.

Too hot to exercise here today. Gonna do a quick cleaning of my kitchen floor and then call it quits

Must be Wednesday!

Great picture, Ruth!
Walked/ran yesterday but not today. Ate the first tomato from the garden last night. So good! Dh came into the house today with yet another zucchini that grew into a baseball bat over night lol. It's crazy fun!
Rant: I so hate what has happened to BCO. Logging on is a ridiculous process. My dx of er/pr is still wrong. Should be er+pr-. I have reported it but that's as far as it's gotten. Really feel for any new people here. They have no idea what this used to be.
Edit: Well, I take back my rant about my pr. The mods had sent me a pm yesterday about it and I didn't see it until today. They had me change it under my profile page. It worked. Still don't like what has happened to the site. Very sad.

Wonderland, does it make a difference in what device you using? I can get in fine on my laptop, but it's a nightmare to get here & navigate on my phone. It is definitely very discouraging.

Ruth: It's difficult to log on both my phone and computer. Too many steps.
Met a friend this morning for walk and talk. Her son is also engaged and getting married September 2023. He lives in Boston and getting married at a similar place as your ds, Ruth. It was a camp that they have converted over to a venue. Guests can stay in the cabins.

All went well with the flights - except leave Denver, our flight left 2 hours late - all after we boarded. Traffic slowed the departure from gate, then lightening strike shut down the ramp, then backed up traffic to leave the gate and once we left the gate long line for runway. We didn't arrive till midnight then it took an hour to get our luggage. We didn't want DD to drive to airport at 1:00am so took a taxi. Got to her house and didn't get to bed to 2:00am. Up at 8:00. Ran a couple errands with her, then off to the airport. From time we left airport to returning was 12 hours and half were sleeping!!!! At least we'll have 5 days with DD and SIL in 3 weeks. Second part of trip was uneventful but long. The row behind us only had one person so I told the kid at the window thinking he would move - but nope, he was happy to be 3 in a row with his window seat. DD#2 met us at the apartment for dinner last night. It was great to see hear and get one of her big hugs. We will spend Shabbat together then take her to her apt Sunday morning and we will head north for 4 days of vacationing. She is busy with finals.

Glad that you have made it there in one piece, Karen! Enjoy your visiting & vacationing!

The tree people are coming to get the tree off our roof this morning; the guy says it will be 'tricky' & will take about 4 hours and a whole bunch of money. DH will stay around to supervise & I will bring Bruno over to DS's as I am pretty sure he would not be very much help!!!

Have a fabulous trip Karen!!!
Ruth: How did the tree removal go? Good thing Bruno left the property. You may want to touch base with your homeowner's insurance to see if they will pays towards the bill.
Dh and I pushed mowed today. I did 80 minutes of it. It's been exactly 4 weeks since we last mowed. Very unusual! Parts of the yard really didn't need it. We need rain.

The tree removal was actually very interesting. We were just leaving when the guys showed up, so we sat and watched from the car for about 20 minutes. One guy was on the roof sawing off big pieces with a chain saw. Then he & a guy in a bucket on top of a crane attached a rope to it and lowered it to the ground. They kept doing it until the roof was clear & then went into the backyard to finish the job. They did a great job and cleaned up nicely, although DH & I spent 3 more sweaty hours there finishing up. Wonderland, we called and sent pictures to our insurance company as soon as it happened. We are waiting for the roofers to look at the shingles in tell us how much damage was done.

I went to Yoga Strength and walked for an hour this morning. We are headed into a nasty hot, humid couple of days (with heat indexes of over 100....yuck!).

That's an impressive picture, Ruth! He is really high. Makes me nervous looking at him in the bucket. 3 hours of picking up sticks is definitely exercise! Hope insurance pays some if not all of the bill.
I've been going down the Internet rabbit hole looking at you tubes on how to make boutonnieres, corsages, and bouquets. Dd and I decided to make them for her wedding in October. We had already decided to make the the table arrangements. (a team of family/friends will be in charge of this on wedding day). We have farms that grow flowers and that's where we were get the bulk of them. Dd wants color, color, and color. They will be simple colorful arrangements placed in a selection of copper vases my mom and other family members had. I've been buying flowers from the flower lady and practicing. I need a lot more practice!
Walked/ran this evening. It's 79 degrees which feels pretty good.

Just caught up reading everyone's posts. I am starting to get excited about my trip though there are a couple of days of a rail strike that could make things dicey. I have been taking advantage of the river.
Out on my kayak the other evening. Just glorious.
Yesterday, I tried a new place.....Hauser Lake. Very proud of myself for doing the one mile or so across the lake and back. I can tell today that I did something. So this evening is just a swim in the river. Got home after dark so a late evening. Talk about sleeping well!
Hoping to get in some miles tomorrow as essential to keep up the rhythm. I am actually proud of myself for making it across the lake yesterday, and I have learned how to get into the kayak without capsizing. I just need to be a bit further forward.
Off for my swim! Have a great rest of the weekend. - Claire

Lovely pictures, Claire! The heat index here is 102, blah!!! I am going to yoga this evening & will do half an hour of something aerobic (inside!).

Still super-hot & humid here. Dance2fit this morning and Pound tonight. I hope the weather can break without a storm!

I went to Barre Sculpt and Zumba last night and walked with the Wednesday Women today. We had a break in the weather so I am out in the yard with Bruno. 3 squirrels ran up a tree and he's been sitting under it for about 45 minutes staring into the branches. I am pretty sure they won't be coming down anytime soon!

Got in a bicycle ride this morning before things got beastly so caught up on cycling. Also have the arrangements for my trip finalized. Now, it's stocking up on items such as cycling socks.
I can't believe how wonderful it is to have a swimming beach close by. Just a short walk. I have been doing an early evening swim every day which makes all the difference, not to mention adding to my exercise quotient. Tomorrow is kayak day and will explore some hidden beaches in Lake Coeur d'Alene.
Suspect that Bruno would love the beach. Is he missing his girlfriend, or has he found a new interest which I doubt would be difficult for such a handsome swain.
More later. Stay cool everyone! - Claire

Bruno is REALLY missing his girlfriend. Every morning he sits at the top of the deck stairs and WILLS her to emerge from her house!

Claire: So nice to have a swimming beach nearby!
Ruth: Bruno needs a puppy friend in your home.
Been in the NC mountains. Ds solo backpacked for 3 days and 30 miles. It wasn't a loop trail so dh and I said we would pick him up at the trailhead at the end of the trail. This trailhead happens to be located in a boy scout camp. We were there for a couple of hours before ds emerged from the trail. Since I'm still involved in Girl Scouts, I was disappointed to see girls at the the boy scout camp. They need to be at our great Girl Scout camps! (Thanks for letting me have a little rant). Anyway, ds had a fabulous trip and said it was just what he needed.
Walked/ran this morning.Finished about 2 hours ago and some of my hair is still wet with sweat. Ugh.

I went to Pound this morning & will go to Dance2fit tonight. I am still trying to rearrange my yard to look how I want it to with a now missing tree. Today I bought another shepherd's hook & a couple hanging baskets (on sale for $5.00 each) and will be going out soon to figure out what I want to do with them. The grand-dogs will be over later for a play-date, which will be fun for all.

Our yard seems to be ever changing. 2 years ago the apple tree died. Several birdfeeders hang from it. Instead of taking it down, dh decided to continue with the birdfeeders and brick around the dead tree to contain the volunteer sunflowers that grow under it. A tree man has come by twice to see if we want him to take down the tree (for a fee). He thinks we're crazy but the birds love it! And I love it! Eventually the tree will fall by itself.
Walked/ran this morning. Trying to stay safe in the heat.

What a neat tree story, Wonderland! We couldn't really do that since our tree was on our roof! I did a 45 minute indoor walking DVD in my nice cool basement.

We are having a break in the hot weather! Yesterday I went to a Pound class, cleaned the house & then went on a tour of a lovely winery with beautiful gardens & sculptures. Today I will go on a dog walk & to yoga tonight.

That's great that you had a break in the hot weather. The winery sounds lovely. We are still hot and will continue to be. I was going to walk this evening but then it rained, which is a good thing. Now it's really muggy outside so decided not to walk. Going to try to do it in the morning.

This was a watershed weekend. I finally have my fitness level back, a casualty of the past 2 years, particularly last year when I was working ungodly hours. I did what I could, but it took a toll. I was seriously worried about my upcoming Scotland holiday, but no longer. (I didn't want to do the e-bike option.)
I know this because I did two longish rides two days in a row and emerged just fine. Plus, a swim both evenings. It's going to be beastly hot this coming week, so I am glad to get this in. I signed up for a 25-mile event next Sunday just over the border in Washington State. An area that I have never seen. I want to finish by noon which I wouldn't be able to do with the 50-mile hilly course. Not until things cool down.
I will do the other 35 miles early mornings, so will have my 60 miles total. Then just nine days until I head for London and Scotland.
I am so loving my herb garden. For example, I have basil for tonight's salad. Tarragon and rosemary are coming along nicely. Mint, thyme and sage are flourishing. The borage is dying off but has clusters of flowers which are going into a borage-lime cordial of some sort. Wish me luck. It could turn out to be sludge.
I may need to do 2 paddles this coming week. Perhaps Higgins Point tomorrow. It's a place where bald eagles nest and I have been there several times by bicycle. But would be fun to explore via kayak. Then, back to Lake Hauser as I think a bit of peace is in order. This time, I want to explore the far end of the lake, but I need to paddle first.
Tonight is coconut shrimp and a salad, which was supposed to be a green salad, but most of the lettuce was sludge. So a regroup was in order. Now it will be assorted veg on a bed of lettuce with fresh basil. I am trying peanut sauce with the shrimp.
Scotland promises to be cool. Twill be difficult to choose between seafood and game for my dinners. When I get back, it will be late summer, and cooler.
Think it is time to cave and turn on the AC in my place. First time ever that I have it. Even lacking it, it would still be much cooler than when I lived in NYC. Never again.
Not to mention that I have a place to swim just a short walk from here. Life is good. - Claire
p.s. I am almost always up for exploring wineries.

Wow, Claire, you are living the life! I am excited for your upcoming trip, which will be marvelous.
Dance2fit and Pound today. It has cooled off here so we are enjoying being outside as much as possible! Some of the flowers and metal art from the winery.

Happy for you, Claire!
The flowers are beautiful, Ruth.
Walked this morning. The dew point is in the oppressive range and I feel every degree of it. Plan to stay in the rest of the day and make tomato sauce to freeze from our tomatoes.

I'd stay in too, Wonderland!
I've invited my Walking Group over for breakfast tomorrow after our walk, so spent quite a bit of the day getting things ready & organized. The forecast is good so we will be picnicking in the backyard. I went to Dance2fit & Yoga tonight.
