A nice day here too. I had a haircut, met friends for lunch, took Bruno to the Dog Park, planted some of the 5 flats of flowers I was given, went to Zumba & Yoga. Whew....a busy day! Happy Summer Solstice! I love the long days of summer!

Ruth, thank you for sharing your experience with Covid. You hit the nail on the head when you said you would hit a wall and could not push through. That describes exactly how I feel now. When I hit that wall, I have no choice but to rest on the sofa with a blanket until I get my second wind. It is a weird feeling but you give me hope that in time it will pass. I did go to line dancing today for the first time in almost a month so that was progress. I also was able to start back up with my at-home PT strength exercises for the hip and core. I have a very weak hip and the PT has helped. I missed doing them but got back to it today and it feels empowering.

I hope everyone stays safe in this heat. It is really brutal lately.

The NP called with my parathyroid results - they are elevated. Last year it was well within normal limits. She has referred me to an endocrinologist. The doctor is across down from me (1/2. hour or so), but she is part of the system that my PCP is with so she will have access to all my records. NP is not sure what Endocrinologist will do. CT scan of parathyroid? Wait and watch or who knows. A lot of issues that apply to elevated parathyroid apply to me!!! I will call tomorrow if they don't call me and hoping I can be seen before we leave in 3 weeks.

Worked in my office/spare bedroom. Don't see as much difference as I did in the under the stairs closet. Main difference is that the futon is no longer a place to put stuff. I put my work stuff in the under the stairs closet in a box easy to access if I need something. I still need to empty my backpack. Next is dusting the house - a task that I avoid.

Mostly cloudy today so wasn't as hot as predicted.

    Have a great night.

sarahmaude: I'm impressed that you are reading, running errands, and being creative! Keep muddling through and this will all be behind you soon. Heart

coffeelate: Sounds like you're doing exactly what you're supposed to do - rest, rest, rest when you hit the wall. It's promising that you were able to go to line dance and start back on your hip exercises. Heart

Ruth: That's a lot of flowers!

Karen: Oh no! Hopefully the Endocrinologist can figure out what's going on.

Had my wisdom tooth extracted on Monday and was expecting to be in a lot of pain. Luckily it was a simple procedure and by the next day I was fine. I don't even go back for a checkup appointment.

It's ridiculously hot here as in so many locations. Met dd late this evening for a walk. Not as fast as we usually walk bc of the heat.

Keep doing what you are doing, coffeelatte!

Karen, I hope they can figure out what is going on before you go on vacation so you don't have to have it hanging over your head.

Wonderland, glad your wisdom tooth gave up without a flight. I had a horrible wisdom tooth extraction experience that I will NOT share!

It was a beautiful day to walk. Here's the Wednesday Women having breakfast on our friend's deck afterwards. We climb back into the heat & humidity tomorrow so I got ALL the flowers planted today!

Walked this morning with a girlfriend for an hour. It was HOT when I walked around lunch and before dinner for a short walk. After dinner we waited till 8pm to walk and it was lovely out - not too hot and nice breeze. Hot again tomorrow and then 70s over the week-end.

I called the endocrinologist office today - she has not seen the referral yet to determine course of action - but the office said it would probably be August till I could get an appointment. Went back to PCP to have Vitamin D lab drawn as she forgot to write it on the order with the parathyroid. Two years ago, it was on the lower end of normal - and I don't remember if I was taking Vitamin D then or not. I'm taking 2000iu daily so curious about the results. I just don't remember when I started back taking Vitamin D.

I can't believe that it's only been 3 weeks since school got out. It seems longer but then again, the rest of the summer will fly by!! The special case I was working on, may be back on so I will have to finish my reports. I'm only available for 2 more weeks till just before the school year starts.

I've been enjoying working in the house as I can see the results. Finally emptied my work backpack. Cleared off the futon and the mess on the roll top desk. I'm going to put the quilt that was in my late MILs guest bedroom on the futon tomorrow.

We didn't plan petunias in the water fountain garden this summer. DH wants to put ground cover type perennial plants and we need to move a blue spruce. My son gave me this gorgeous plant for Mother's Day. I can't remember the name but it is long - the leaves feel like crepe paper and are a deep pink. We moved it more into the shade and it is doing great - so many blooms. When we are gone, we will have DS take it and the two hanging baskets to his apt as they will need watering more than once/week.

Wonder - sounds like you had a fun time with your DD.

    It's late. Sweet dreams

Yesterday I went to Pound in the morning & Barre Sculpt in the evening. In between I did more 'flower stuff'. A local greenhouse was having a big sale, so I bought a few more zucchini and pepper plants (for $1.00 each), a flat of little fill-in flowers (marigolds & petunias.....also for $1.00 each), two hanging baskets (for $10.00 each), a little wagon planter, a wind chime, and two lawn ornaments. After buying all that stuff, I then had to put it all in place. Today is very hot & humid with a threat of severe storms, so I may be spending time bringing everything inside!!!!! I haven't decided yet what I'll do for actual 'exercise'.....probably something not outside!

Karen: You are really making a difference in your home! I always feel good after going through purges in the house. I overheard a woman talking today about when she and her dh downsized their home. She couldn't believe all the stuff she had to go through in her attic.

Ruth: You're the envious of your neighborhood! Everything looks beautiful and colorful. Great job on getting it all in place. Bruno misses Ivy!

Walked with a friend this morning. Then we talked for 2 hours. Lots to catch up on.

I did 30 minutes of dancing & 20 of toning from utube yesterday. I went to a combination Pound/PiYo class this morning, did some yard work & swept out the garage. Tomorrow we go to South Dakota for DH's Family Reunion, the first one they've had in three years, so that should be fun. I've been instructed to bring games and a dessert!

Ruth - love the pic of Bruno. He is so regal. You flowers are lovely.

Got my Vit D levels back and they are great - big improvement from 2 years ago. Went from borderline normal limits to well within the average range. I take 2,000iu/day. Finally a lab that is great!!! Still waiting to hear from endocrinologist

Cloudy outside with only 70 for a high and maybe rain this afternoon. Not going to complain as the 90s again by Tuesday.

Need to get into the crawl space and get out old chairs (go with the table my son took but he didn't want the chairs) and any other large items and Tuesday is "large" item and extra trash day - which is the 4 Tuesday of every month.

    Have a great Sunday.

Evening update 12 hours after my morning post

DH and I went into the crawl space to get the chairs out that went with the table my son took - the chairs are not in good shape at all, so will go out with large trash pick up. We also took out the frame for a fold away bed we had when I was a kid. Mattress is long gone so not sure why we kept the fold up frame. I then spent a few hours in the basement throwing away old work stuff. Found a few more boxes that I need to go through - I think it is work and/or kids school work. Either way its getting shredded or thrown away.

Watching game 6 - Colorado Avs against TB Lightening. Hoping the Avs can pull off a win.

    Sweet dreams

I spent yesterday eating, visiting, playing board games, and eating some more at DH's family reunion. This morning I went to Dance2fit & Pound tonight. In between I made lists & went shopping. We always have friends over for a picnic on the 4th of July, plus my brother & SIL will be here for a couple days, so I have to start getting organized......and getting the house cleaned too.

Karen, congratulations on the big win yesterday!

Ruth - the reunion pictures look like everyone had a nice time. I don't normally watch sports, but we've been watching these games. Last night was a great game and of course the best outcome for the Avalanche.

Found 3 boxes (paper ream size box) in the crawl. space with test protocols from 2000 to 2004. I started to rip them up and then decided I've had enough and put them on a coffee table that is in the crawl space till I can get to a shredded event. A local realtor does one around tax time, so it's fine with me if they sit there till April. At least I know that they are there so I won't forget. These boxes were behind other boxes so out of sight out of mind!!! I'm done for now.

Nice weather today - not too hot, sunny and blue sky.

Nice weather here too. Some friends of ours are camping at a little park about 45 minutes away. They invited us down for lunch & to hang out for the afternoon. As they have a dog, Bruno was invited too. We did a little hiking, but there are SO many wood-ticks this year that it is not as much fun because you have to pick creepy insects off when you return!! I got home in time for Zumba.

Karen: Love reading about your deep cleaning. Very motivating. I need to get back in the mood.

Ruth: I would have creeped out with all those ticks! Great picture of WWW.

On Sunday we went to visit my ds for his birthday. Saw the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once. It's a crazy movie! Plus, I haven't been in a movie theater since 2019 and maybe 2018. Today I met a friend to walk and talk.

Nice long walk with gf yesterday morning - about 10K steps - 2 laps around Wash Park takes at least 1.5 hours. It was hot, but not baking as the sun was not out. Hot enough that my hands swelled up. She is a former work friends from my old district and she retired as a health para after 25 years. We've stayed friends in the 13 years since I left.

Thought I had started a report - at least the graph part - spent an hour looking for it and couldn't find it - so started over. Doing a lot of copy/paste for the write up and still need to do the graph. We have an internal team meeting this afternoon and then figure out when the IEP meeting will be. With my travel only a couple available dates before hopefully we leave. It might have to be right before school starts.

We are flying AC and a little worried as we got a generic email from AC stating all their woes as with all airlines and ultimately they are going to be cutting flights. They said they wanted to do it sooner than later so people had time to prepare instead of last minute cancellations. Tme will tell. Its 12 days away.

Today is DH's last day and then he is retired. They had a 'happy hour' last night with his co-workers and he heard lots of positives and then a few personal phone calls. If I don't mind saying so myself, DH was in a league of his own - one of the best in. his field!! They will be hard shoes to fill. I got DH a great retirement card and a gift that he will enjoy.

    Have a great Thursday.

Congratulations to DH, Karen! Retirement after a rewarding career is something to celebrate! I hope your travel plans come off okay. A good friend of mine & her two daughters are on a three -years- delayed trip to Germany. She has been posting pictures on Facebook so I know she has made it there in one piece! Pound, Dance2fit, dusting and vacuuming are on my schedule for today.

Karen: Congratulations to your dh! How exciting for him and you! He sounds like an amazing man with a brilliant career.

Ruth: Please come clean my house.

Walked early this morning. We go to the beach Saturday so I have been busy getting ready, packing, etc. This will be the 34th year we have been vacationing at the beach with my side of the family. Didn't go in 2020 but we did last year. Because we didn't get together for Christmas in 2020, we played Dirty Santa (it's like White Elepant, or Yankee Swap) while at the beach. Instead of calling it Dirty Santa since it was July, we called it Dirty Sandy Claws. Didn't get together for Christmas last year so playing DSC again this year. Looking forward to next week!

Have a wonderful week, wonderland! I really hate cleaning so will NOT be coming over and doing your house (plus, it wouldn't be that clean because I cut corners!). We always have a big backyard picnic on the 4th of July so I am getting ready for that, plus my brother & SIL will be here for a couple days, so I have to do bedding etc. as well. Today I want to get the rest of the food, wash windows, clean the kitchen & bathrooms. It is a lovely day, so I will go for a dog walk as well.

Wonder - have fun at the beach. Ruth have a fun party on the 4th.

Our July 4 plans are grilling chicken wings - no plans. We hope to go to the mountains for a couple days on the 5th to do some hiking, then it will be time to start getting ready for our trip. Getting a little nervous as I hear the national news about all the airline problems - that things won't get better till after Labor Day then come Thanksgiving things will get bad. Just heard that airlines are cancelling flights and their schedules today :(:(

Slow start this morning. Woke up at 4:30 and should have gotten up then. Went back to sleep and didn't get up till after 6. It's now after 8 and time to get busy!!

Have a great Friday and long week-end.

I have been off on an adventure, not exercising, but doing a flying trip to Seattle staying with one friend and catching up with others. The great news is that the city appears to be recovering from its low point though still has a way to go. Since I still have a transit pass, I bussed it in. I can say that the ridership of the #21 bus is "colorful." I picked up my wine club shipment. Exercise was walking around the city and lugging stuff.

Got home Thursday afternoon and yesterday was getting my bicycle flat fixed and finally a new type of rim tape to prevent this. I am a bit annoyed that they didn't do this in the first place to my front tire. Will be off in a bit to get in 20 miles before it heats up outside. Then farmers market and I think I will launch my kayak in the river where the current has now calmed down. Or I may go for a swim. My water shoes come tomorrow which will make the whole kayaking thing easier.

Bruno is quite the handsome young man. I got in quite a bit of doggy loving this past week as well including the doggy who normally doesn't like people. I feel so honored.

This fourth, I am doing something that I never done before, an evening out with friends which includes a buffet dinner and front row seating for fireworks over Lake Coeur d'Alene. It should be fun.

I am with you Ruth on taking cleaning shortcuts where possible. I have to say that I am enjoying having mop-able floors in the living room and trafficked areas. No more off-white carpet, a losing battle. Having an electric broom to pick up crumbs, etc. is a life saver as well. So easy to keep it all under control. Though with stairs up to my car, I do take more trips to unload everything.

Think of you with the files. I need to refile everything from the move into my new cabinet and toss about 70% of everything. I now have a deadline before company comes at the end of the month. But I shall pay Staples to get rid of everything even though I do now have a shredder. My goal is to keep current going forward. Speaking of cleaning, I think a trip through the fridge might not be the worst of ideas.

I don't think I posted this.... Pictures from last week's kayak adventure. Happy adventures! - Claire
