A little faith goes a long way in clearing my mind, in restoring inner peace, in allowing me to function as a person who is capable of great things, for indeed I am. Faith in God in me and in others develops courage, patience, understanding, hope, and so much more. It strengthens me and every aspect of my life. Each thought or act of faith is like a single fiber that, when woven together with others, creates a lifeline that connects me to health, peace, prosperity, and great opportunities. -unattributed

Justices are 'losing patience': Brett Kavanaugh skewered as a 'lightweight' in brutal analysisStory by Travis Gettys • Yesterday 12:43 PM

The U.S. Supreme Court has a clear intellectual liability in Justice Brett Kavanaugh, according to a legal analyst, and the other justices are sick of "lightweight" opinions.
Patience is wearing thin for the Donald Trump appointee, who rarely writes important or noteworthy opinions – in fact, he wrote the fewer words than any justice in the most recent term -- and his colleagues keep calling out his lack of rigor in their own opinions, reported Slate.
"[Clarence] Thomas, [Amy Coney] Barrett, and [Neil] Gorsuch aren’t the only members of the court who are losing patience with Kavanaugh," wrote senior writer Mark Joseph Stern. "Justice Elena Kagan memorably castigated him for treating 'judging as scorekeeping,' whining about 'how unfair it is' when he loses, and repeating the same bad arguments 'at a higher volume.' Justice Sonia Sotomayor has repeatedly accused him of outright dishonesty by misrepresenting precedent and dangling false promises. In a fed-up dissent in just her first term, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson compared a Kavanaugh majority opinion to the children’s book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. [Samul] Alito’s rebuttal to Kavanaugh’s dissent in Sackett v. EPAconsisted of exactly one sentence: Kavanaugh’s argument, Alito wrote, 'cannot be taken seriously.'"
The only justice who hasn't blasted his opinions is chief Justice John Roberts, with whom Kavanaugh has voted the same in 98 percent of cases, but Stern found the few opinions he does author tend to sound more like backlash management than legal analysis.
"It wasn’t supposed to be like this," Stern wrote. "During his 12 years on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, Kavanaugh styled himself as a brainy operator who combined intellectual firepower with affable moderation, in rhetoric if not in substance. He wanted to be the conservative whom liberals could respect — Justice Antonin Scalia without the volcanic temper — and the high-minded jurist who could sell right-wing legal theories to the public as common-sense constitutional principles."
"Over the past five years, that version of Brett Kavanaugh has receded from view," Stern added. "In its place has emerged a man with seemingly few fixed convictions and even fewer interesting things to say. To the extent that his colleagues think about him at all, they seem to view him as a fixer who can cobble together five votes for a diaphanous majority opinion that decides almost nothing."

I am poor and naked, but I am the chief of the nation. We do not want riches but we do want to train our children right. Riches would do us no good. We could not take them with us to the other world. We do not want riches. We want peace and love.

I absolutely CANNOT stand RFK Jr.’s voice. Kinda like how Mary Hart’s voice on Entertainment Tonight was once reported as giving some man seizures (which was the parodied on an episode of Seinfeld back in the day), Jr.’s voice makes my spine curl. It’s like nails on chalkboard.

Grandson Of John F. Kennedy Blasts RFK Jr. As ‘An Embarrassment’ To The Family
The Kennedy family has had enough of
Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s
presidential campaign and his ridiculous remarks about vaccines, his blatant anti-Semitism, and his willingness to be a stooge for House Republicans.
Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of President John F. Kennedy, posted a video on Instagram today in which he called RFK Jr’s campaign a “vanity project” and “an embarrassment.”
“He’s trading in on Camelot, celebrity,
conspiracy theories
and conflict for personal gain and fame. I have no idea why anyone thinks he should be president. What I do know is his candidacy is an embarrassment. Let’s not be distracted again by somebody’s vanity project.”
Schlossberg also endorsed the reelection of President
Joe Biden
, noting that Biden has “appointed more federal judges than any president since my grandfather. He ended our longest war, he ended the COVID pandemic and he ended Donald Trump. These are the issues that matter. And if my cousin Bobby Kennedy Jr. cared about any of them, he would support Joe Biden too.”

Kennedy Jr.
Earlier this week, his sister, Kerry Kennedy, “I strongly condemn my brother’s deplorable and untruthful remarks last week about Covid being engineered for ethnic targeting.”
Back when RFK Jr. first launched his campaign, Kerry noted, “I love my brother Bobby, but I do not share or endorse his opinions on many issues, including the COVID pandemic, vaccinations, and the role of social media platforms in policing false information.”

I hate to in any way defend RFK Jr, who is an absolute discredit to the legacy of his family, but his weird voice is due to a medical condition called dysphonia; which is caused by an abnormality with one's vocal cords. So I don't fault him for the tone of his voice, but for the stupid words that come out through his vocal cords!

Ruthbru, I don't know if you listen to NPR, but there was a woman named Diane Rehm who had a weekday show for several years. She had spasmodic dysphonia, although it manifested itself differently in her voice. She had to take a week off about every 2 months to get Botox injections in her larynx to treat the problem. I can't imagine how painful that must have been. It's a pity for her to have it, because her show had wonderful guests and fantastic content.

Oh, I had no idea. Thanks for the info. In a related note to my previous post, I mentioned Mary Hart, former host of Entertainment Tonight. It made me wonder what ever happened to her, so I looked her up. For those like me who didn’t know, it turns out (ew) she’s a big time Trump supporter, hosting his 2020 fourth of July celebration at which she was accused of making a white power sign which she denied. Her son worked as a special assistant for Trump. Hart converted to Judaism when she married her film producer husband in 1989. All this leaves me shakin my head.

I knew (didn't know the name for it) RFK had a medical condition and that truly is sad, but none-the-less I still can't imagine anyone running for president and having to sometimes talk for days on end. It is still difficult to listen to what often sounds like such "labored" speech at times. I'm left with the feeling that it is all more about his being able to spread conspiracies while hoping to cause upset for other candidates.
I tend to think no one should be running who doesn't have much of a chance at all and is clearly doing it to make distress for others and take away votes. Guess I'm a spoiled sport that way. Then again, I'm in the group of people who feels the electoral college should be done away with as well.
Didn't know much of anything about Mary Hart either so thanks Divine. Just truly weird people.

Buried deep in the maze of commonplace, the pearl of
true happiness lies. And those who rejoice in little things,
find the pathway that leads to the prize.

I had to laugh about the "self-appointed savior" of a baby, that ends up in DCS custody and most likely a lifetime of being shuffled from one foster home to another, being named as the preferred placement. Her reaction is a the telling reaction of most of those anti-abortion mongers. It was her reaction that made me laugh because it was so expected. Another form of NIMBY or in this instance NIMH (Not in my house). No love there for a child she insisted be born nor compassion for what the child will endure before it becomes an adult. Makes me sick that all she is concerned about is the impact it would have had on her life……selfish bitch.
If they make fun of Biden's stumbling over words, they would have a field day with RFK, Jr and I am surprised that the Loon hasn't already lit in to him. While I feel sorry that he has to deal with this condition, it does not sway my opinion that he is a total whack job with all his conspiracies and the play on his family name to lend cachet to his campaign. He is not a Democrat by any way, shape or means. He is a repugnican by virtue of his conspiracies, anti-semitism and over all slimeyness.

Trump likes Kennedy because he's nuts AND might take votes away from Biden. Speaking of horrible & crazy people:
Hunter Biden's Attorney Files Ethics Complaint Against Rep. Marjorie Taylor GreeneA lawyer for the president's son filed the complaint after the Georgia
Republican displayed nude pictures of him at a House committee hearing.By Ben Blanchet July 22, 2023, 01:30 AM
Hunter Biden’s attorney Abbe David Lowell filed an ethics complaint against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Friday, just days after the right-wing congresswoman showed poster-sized nude images of the president’s son at a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing.Lowell, in the letter to the Office of Congressional Ethics, wrote that it previously
contacted the office over Greene’s defamatory statements and “bizarre
dissemination of conspiracy theories” toward Hunter Biden, adding that
she “lowered herself and by extension the entire House ... to a new
level of abhorrent behavior” with her actions at Wednesday’s hearingGreene displayed the sexually explicit images at a hearing where Internal Revenue Service whistleblowers made claims that the Justice Department interfered in an investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes. Biden
recently reached a deal to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges.Several Democrats have since taken aim at Greene for showing the series of nude photos, including Reps. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) and Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), a ranking Democrat on the oversight committee who told The Washington Post that the display was “completely irrelevant” to the hearing.
The attorney claimed that Greene violated House ethics rules along with
standards of official conduct at the hearing, calling for the office to
“promptly and decisively condemn and discipline” Greene.“While the faces of other individuals in the photographs were blocked with
black boxes, Ms. Greene (or her staff) took great care to ensure Mr.
Biden’s face was not blurred for the American public,” argued Lowell,
who noted that Greene suggested without evidence that her posters showed
Biden “making pornography.”“None of heactions or statements could possibly be deemed to be part of any
legitimate legislative activity, as is clear from both the content of
her statements and her conduct and the forums she uses to spew her
unhinged rhetoric.”Lowell also slammed Greene’s posts on social media in the days since the
hearing, noting that she’s shared clips of herself holding the naked
pictures and distributed a link to a video with the images through her
fundraising email. The attorney also suggested that Greene’s actions may have violated federal, District of Columbia and Georgia laws, as well.

Looks like MTG is the one "making pornography"

Smut and filth =Reps. Someone recently opined that the Reps. party (though still operating) isn't a real viable party anymore. With people like Gaetz, MTG and Bobert, just to name a few that sure seems to be the case. They seem hell bent for going totally over the edge.

A Trump supporter was caught on tape being kicked out of a Walmart and appears to have been arrested. The woman is heard screaming that she was unhappy with America right now after a Walmart employee tells her she needed to leave and couldn’t buy her items. “This is my America and I’m taking it back,” she shouts. “We’re going to have Trump in office.”She then turns and screams “TRUMP IS COMING BAAAAAAAAAAACCKKK”…before being led away in handcuffs. Cuffed on a scooter in Walmart. Can’t get any more ‘Merica than that! You can bet she’ll vote. Make sure you do too!!

Didn't know what was going on here but apparently Mr. Aldean did a recording about how people that are not liked are treated in a small town — with violence. This is definitely something I'm not interested in hearing since I am definitely from a small town — and we aren't ugly to others here either.
