TT: Have fun in Savannah. I went there over 20 years ago with a group of Girl Scouts bc it's the birthplace of Girl Scouts. We had a wonderful time.
It was a cold weekend/Monday and didn't do much exercise wise. Totally different today as it's gorgeous and 73 degrees. Walked at a county park that has a flat walking trail. Dh walked with me to work on gaining his strength back since his surgery. I need to encourage him to go with me every time I walk. The county just added outside weight equipment at the park. No one was using it so we worked out on the machines. Will definitely being using this equipment.

Celebrating St. Patrick's Day a little early with the Wednesday Walking Women.

Wow what a great WWW, love those green pants and the green weights!
Day 3 in Savannah, lots of walking, lots of fun…what a relief 70-72 degrees feels like in March!
One more day in town, before our long drive home on Friday.
Wonderland…they are ALL over the Girl Scouts here, very cool.
It is 14 years since I've been in Savannah…so much is familiar and also new given the time gap…actually a combo that I like as I sort of know some things and find news ones that are nice.
Take care everyone, TT

Ruth: Luck o' the Irish to your WWW group!
TT: I bet they sell a lot of cookies in Savannah! Safe travels tomorrow.
Had my mammo this morning and also teeth cleaning. Will take a couple of days to hear about mammo.
Worked almost 2 hours trimming a Camilla bush, an azalea bush, and figs. Arms are sore.
Edited:
TT: Can't believe I forgot that Girl Scouts was founded today, March 12, 1912. Sounds like Savannah was all decked out for the occasion.

Wonderland, I had my yearly mammogram Monday. I still get nervous waiting for the results.
This afternoon we helped our 100 year old friend celebrate her birthday & took a nice dog walk in the country.
TT, glad you've had a fun trip!

Question. I am not very fit. I have mild CP. I have arthritis fairly bad in my right thumb. Please check my signature. I was resting my right thumb, which also meant resting my pectoral muscles, which meant that the points of attachment of my implant got weaker and were causing pain. Got it replaced yesterday, as well as cortisone shot in thumb. Once I am healed, I need to work those chest muscles more. I have a therapy dog who gets me out walking. What kinds of exercise can I do as I regain strength? I want to know before I have my appointment with NP in a few weeks. Thank you.

I can give some general recommendations, but am not a doctor & you have some special needs; so run anything I say that sounds interesting past yours. Maybe a wrist brace would be helpful (I have a friend with bad arthritis & she wears one when she does yoga or lifts weights). With any weight lifting, you want to start very slowly. First just doing the motions & then adding very, very light weights (maybe even soup cans) & working up from there. It's okay to feel normal soreness from not using the muscles for a long time, but if you feel tightness or are very sore, back off & go back to lighter weights for awhile. As with anything, it's the consistency of doing the exercises that's important. My biggest recommendation is that you should work with a physical therapist as you start you fitness journey. They can help you develop a program specific to you that will help you regain your strength. As far as getting more active overall, a walking program is a great way to start! Again, start where you are & work up to longer, faster walks.

Yeah, a few visits with a pt will certainly help. I have a pair of three-pound weights, as well as some bands. With the weather getting better, he will definitely lead me further. Expecting a brace tomorrow from Amazon. I have two others, but couldn't find them. Doctor recommended a brace, rather than total resting of the arm because of a thumb. LOL!! Thank you!!

Start with 1 pound weights at first!

Hi McBaker. Ruth has given you some sound advice. Glad that you ordered another wrist brace as that will help with your pain along with the cortisone shot. Hope you are resting well after your revision.
I met a friend this morning for a walk and talk session.

I took a dog walk & went to Dance2fit.

70 deg. We walked to the fairgrounds ( a nice walk). I let him off-leash, but he stayed close to me. More cuddly at night. I am using this as an opportunity to teach him "owie hurt." Will transit to buttons when I get some more.
Nurse called. I told her about my desire to get brief PT referral once cleared. Eager for visit with PA.

Sounds like you are headed in the right direction, mcbaker!
I went to pilates this morning. Then we took Bruno (the dog) for a recheck with the orthopedic vet (he has a muscle strain in his back leg that wouldn't heal), he is making progress but still has a ways to go. We got some more exercise to do & he's still restricted to leash walks only, no roughhousing etc. but at least he's making progress). I took a walk when we got home.

McBaker: I had to look up buttons and dogs. Had no idea there was that type of training for dogs. Looks interesting. I have 2 cats who are untrainable but have me quite trained to serve them. Glad you let the nurse know that you want PT once you're cleared.
Ruth: So happy that Bruno is responding to treatment!
My mammo result from Wednesday is BIRADS 1. I'm one happy wonderland!
Walked this afternoon and worked out on weights.

LOL "trained me to serve them" Tippy was walking all over his buttons this afternoon. He just wanted attention. I told him that I was going to take a nap. That made him happy. Yes, he has trained me well.

It is VERY cold & windy here. We took a very short dog walk & I went to Yoga. I will eventually have to go outside again, but I'm not looking forward to it!

I found some exercises on Utube yesterday. Today I went to Zumba, HIT & took a little dog walk.

Birads 1 - Perfect Wonderland!
Got to the gym on Sunday and won't be back until Thursday due to work, so walking is my gym this mid-week. Just read an article about wearing 1lb leg weights while walking as the "new" sport! So does that mean the 20 lbs I want to lose make my walking the "new high intensity sport"
Welcome McBaker and Ruth, glad Bruno is responding well.

Got a new fitbit. Delivered by Amazon in "a safe location" out by the street in the grass on Saturday night. 4,400 steps on Sunday, 6,600 yesterday. It is exactly a half-hour walk to church.

McBaker: Good grief! What a terrible delivery.
I'm learning how to play Mahjong. It all started when I was at the beach with my friends and one of them had the game. Didn't really like it. Found it difficult and lots of rules to memorize.
When I got home from the trip my local friend found out that I played it and was determined to get me to play it with her. We have met 3 times and I now feel more comfortable playing. I still have so much to learn and I'll slowly getting the hang of it. But geesh, all those possible patterns you can make is overwhelming.
Walked and some weights today - 70 degrees.

Geez, I probably would have never thought to look in the grass for a package! I think you will like your fitbit, mcbaker, I know mine keeps me honest.
I don't know anything about Mahjong, I will have to look it up.
I went to Core & Zumba tonight. On our dog walk today, Bruno was very naughty & started running around in circles (even though he was on a leash), so now he's limping again tonight. ARGH!
I finally got my mammogram results back; and like wonderland, I 'passed'. WHEW!!

YAY on your mammo results Ruth!!!

5,500 steps yesterday. I had a fitbit before, and my doctor kept telling me to beware of obsessing about my sleep stats. I finally got the right combination of meds and routine. My mind gets really erratic when I don't get enough sleep. When it refused to charge, I put it aside. They reminded me that fitness watches have afib scores on them now, and with the circulatory diseases rampant in my family, my parents and all my grandparents, I decided it was a no-brainer.

Here's today's Wednesday Walking Women picture. We walked, had breakfast at a local coffee shop, which is attached to a boutique (both owned by local woman). After we ate we did some shopping. The boutique owner gave us 15% off everything in the shop, which made it extra fun!

McBaker: I have afib and purchased a Fitbit Charge 6 as part of my AFib arsenal. Mine doesn't give an AFib score but it will perform an ECG. I'm so thankful this technology is available so I can keep track of my heart rate and rhythm. Last month I had an ablation and really really really hope it has taken care of this horrible condition!
Ruth: Cute clothes and so nice of the owner to give a discount.
I didn't exercise today bc dh and I hosted the Red Cross blood drive at our church. There were 2 drives yesterday near the church and I think that keep our numbers down. We only had 16 to sign up and 7 of those were deferred due to low iron, blood pressure and other reasons. They have a new way of doing the iron test. No more finger pricks. They have a thing like an oximeter that wraps around your finger. Donors really liked it.

Dog walk, now off to Dance2fit & Yoga.

Walked this afternoon. March has roared in like a lion - lots of wind.

Our March weather has been bouncing around like crazy. I went to the pilates/stretch class and on a dog walk.

We just got back from our second walk. He was begging and begging for attention. Told me he had to poop. Which I knew was a lie (he does this regularly, but, hey, it gets results). I told him we could go out and listen to the birds. He needs youtube birds all the time. He did poop a tiny bit. Then we came in and threw moosie around for a bit. 38 deg, Now he is whining at the parking lot. I removed his car button and changed it into kibbble.
