Be safe in the storm clean up…the clean up is frequently just as dangerous as the actual storm

The power finally came back on in our part of town at 11 Saturday night (although it's still out for some). I found s stretching routine on utube last night because I am definitely sore!). I'm glad I'm not in charge of anything because so many trees are down, I wouldn't know where to start! My fitness center is back open so I will go to Zumba this morning.

Last night the Thursday Strength and Core teacher taught the Sunday Candlelight Stretch and Center class…and boy o boy, we had a Sunday-Thursday! A great class, but she clearly didn't get the memo or read the class description!

Good for us that she will be subbing for 4 weeks straight, we will be real strong by then.

Stay safe in the heat…all in the heat dome, which includes us here in Virginia. TT

Ruth: Glad you and your family are safe from the storm and that you didn't have any property damage.

TT: You're going to be so strong at the end of 4 weeks!

Taking it easy bc of the heat. Our blueberries are starting to ripen so this morning worked in the bushes before the heat was too bad. I have a list of indoor projects to keep me busy. A major one will be going through, organizing, etc, photo albums that were dh's aunt who passed away 6 years ago. She loved her photos and there is so much family history in them. This will be a long term project.

Got to the gym Monday noontime. Today, going to a funeral of a colleague who…just didn't wake up last month! He retired a couple of years ago… approx 10 years older than me, but wow! Enjoy each day.

Here the actual temp is 100 with a heat index of 114…I'm melting…(picture wizard of oz)😀

edited the temps as it actually got hotter than what I had posted this morning…🔥

It was actually cool this morning & it rained for awhile (now it's supposed to heat up with more storms possible Friday). The Wednesday Women walked some nice paths around our regional medical center. We knew someone who was going across the parking lot when we were, so he took a serious & a goofy picture of the group (his idea).

Got to the gym last night (Thursday) and today at lunchtime. That makes 4 times this week…after a string of 3 weeks at 5x/week…next week is a business trip to DC, Wed - Sat, so I won't even make 4, but with DC I am always guaranteed to get 12-15K steps.

After what seems like forever with high 90's temps and heat index of 110+, today we are at a balmy 82 with a 92 heat index and it feels…if not cool…at least very pleasant/livable. I guess you get used to it. We are going back up to high 80's/low 90's but staying away from 98+.

Have a good weekend folks, TT

I went to a circuit training class & a dog walk this morning & then finished cleaning the house. We may have severe weather again tonight, so I am pretty sure I will be dragging hanging baskets & pots back into the storage shed & garage before the night is done. Tomorrow, we are supposed to go to a family reunion in South Dakota.

We went to DH's family reunion in South Dakota yesterday. It was fun, and I can't imagine how many calories I ate!!! A dog walk today.

Went to my new Sunday class of strength and core…and will go today at noon for my regular Monday yoga class. That will make 21/30 days for June, woohoo. TT

    Great job, TT!

I went to a strength class this morning & will walk with the dog later. We have lots of classes canceled due to the upcoming holidays.....speaking of which, I need to go grocery shopping for our annual 4th of July picnic!!

TT: Sorry about your colleague who died. My uncle died the same way. He laid down for a nap and never woke up. It was such a shock. WTG on your gym workouts!

Ruth: Hope you didn't have any damage during your last storm. Family reunions are always fun - glad you had a good time. I know you're looking forward to your annual 4th of July picnic. Wish I lived closer!

TT can attest, this heat has been brutal. The dew points have been in the miserable/oppressive range. I've been staying inside as much as possible. Last Wednesday dh and I were hosts for the Red Cross Blood Drive at our church. We had a good turn out and met our goal for blood units. Yesterday ds, his partner, and my grandaughter came for a visit. She's 8 months and such a good baby - crawling, pulling up. She will be walking soon.

I decided I wanted to walk this evening even though it's hot and the dew point is high. I took it easy and was fine. Glad I went.

I went to Dance2fit, did a dog walk, and CORE tonight. I did yard work all morning (starting at 6 am to beat the heat), and bought some more groceries for Friday……when it is predicated to be steamy with a chance of 'severe storms'. 😡

Fingers crossed that the weather prediction for the 4th will change, Ruth.

Picked blueberries this morning for close to an hour. Dh and I walked this evening. Thankfully it's raining now bc we need it.

    Happy July

Started July with a Pilates class this evening.

If I’m good (Wed/Thurs) that will allow 5 classes this week before July 4th closures

Did yard work & watered at 6:30am. It is very hot & humid with a possibility of storms, so we shall see. I have to finish up the groceries this afternoon & I will go to Dance2fit.

    Happy 4th of July!

Walked yesterday. Today I only did 30 minutes of yard work. Dh grilled hotdogs for our 4th party (party for the 2 of us).

I got 12,000 steps yesterday setting up & taking down everything for our 4th of July picnic; which consisted of 13 adults & our neighbor's two sweet little girls. We were under a severe thunderstorm watch, so DS kept the weather ap open on his phone & shortly before 3:00 (just when we were going to play lawn games), he said we better shut things down. We zoomed around putting food, tables etc away, everyone left, DH & I got the plants into the garage and storage shed just as the rain & 65 mph hit! It stopped for the evening fireworks, but we were pooped out by then!

Oh no, Ruth! Glad you were able to put everything away before the storm came. 65 mph winds are scary.

Yesterday I went to a family gathering for my side of the family. Got to see my granddaughter again!

Rained during most of the day. When it stopped dh and I went for a short walk. Temps are in the 70s but so is the dew point and I could really feel it.

DDance2fit this morning, Core just now. Tomorrow Bruno has another rehab boot camp so I will miss walking with my friends. I hope they will give me some answers because I am not seeing that much progress. 😥

got to they gym Sunday/Monday…I leave for DC in 2 hrs for business the rest of the week, returning on Saturday. So I will be walking lots…it's the time of year where it is so hot and humid with daily T-storms…hard to "dress" for business as I want to wear my rain boots on the dirty streets, but then need to change into something less "rain boot" for days of work. It always reminds me of the 80s/90s when women would wear sneakers and carry heals to the office…but I just wear flats and then change to other flats but don't stay in the wet ones all day! Yes, it is because I am old, but also have the advantage of being 5'8" and have gotten over heals long ago.

The TX floods are heartbreaking. It seems like every friend group I have(work, church, gym, etc.) knows someone killed in the storm. My closest work friend lost a friend from college who had just brought her 9 year old granddaughter to the camp…both gone. Prayers all around. Stay safe, TT

The news from Texas is heartbreaking 💔

I'm at the 'only wear flats' stage of life stage too. When DS got married, I was very happy when instructed to look for a long dress because then I didn't have to deal with heels or nylons either!

Bruno has been dropped off & we're heading to the nearby town for a long walk in a beautiful park.

TT: Have a good time in DC. Give me flats or tennis shoes and I'm happy.

Ruth: Hope Bruno got a good report today.

The flooding has been heartbreaking. Ds lives near Chapel Hill where they also had flooding. He pumped water from his basement as long as he could on Monday until the electricity went out at 11:30pm. Luckily it came back on the next day.

I think Earth is trying to tell us something.

Haven't been walking or doing much exercise bc of the heat. We had terrible thunderstorms tonight and torrential downpours with more to come. I've received 3 weather alerts on my phone about the severe weather including possible flooding.

Hope you are okay with all the horrible weather, Wonderland. Bruno's knee is getting better, but he aggravated the sprain in the big muscles in his hip (not surprisingly as our town allows for 5 days of fireworks. So, Bruno had 5 days of being startled, jumping up, barking & running around the house. It's a long haul.

    HIT this morning, Dance2fit tonight.
