I was up and out early this morning. For nothing. My next-door neighbors in the campground, Mary and Lyman, asked me to pick up Lyman in town at the Chevrolet dealer. Lyman thought he had an 8 am appointment to drop off his truck for a major repair. When I arrived at the dealer, Lyman was sitting in his truck. The repair dept. didn't have him down for an appointment. So I drove back to the campground and resumed working on Spelling Bee on my laptop.
Lyman is a Vietnam veteran, a lung cancer patient, and a heavy smoker. I think he is developing some dementia. His wife, Mary, is a domineering woman and badgers him unmercifully. The dementia may be self-protection. At any rate, I won't be going to the gym as I normally do on Friday. I will do a load of laundry and enjoy a nice morning. I may walk for exercise. A change of routine is probably good for an elderly person, and I qualify.
Dh is off at the golf course. Otherwise, he would have been tapped for pickup duty.
There are major changes in the works for this resort/campground, but we are committed to secrecy as far as the other renters are concerned. The older owners, in their 70's, want their son and his family to take over. One possibility that has been hinted at is that the campground will be phased out. We have been reassured that our site and Mary and Lyman's site will not be affected. I guess we can continue coming here until nature cancels our contracts. DH and I aren't worried. We live day to day, year to year. It wouldn't break my heart to stay home year round.
Enough rambling. Happy Friday to everyone.

Hi @cindyny and @l1ttlec, I lurk here but have info on Reflux Gourmet. My voice therapist gave me some free samples when he saw my hospitalization medical record for upper GI bleed. The alginate works for only four hours so it is not a substitute for PPIs or H2 blockers. The therapist takes it before bed when he eats dinner late at night or after an evening of drinks and snacks. It wouldn't help me any since my reflux is asymptomatic; my gastro said acid killed the nerves in my esophagus long ago. I never have anything but water after dinner, follow all the dietary/lifestyle GERD recommendations and take omeprazole. Reflux Gourmet tastes OK and might be something to use after eating close to bedtime. I wish they could get it to last 8 hours (the time frame needed for medication approval) since it does not have the scary SEs of forever PPIs but they have been trying without success for over 15 years now.

Thanks for the info maggie15 🙂

Ditto on thanking you maggie15!
My MRI was this morning. I was over and back before noon. After lunch I headed out to continue painting the sunflowers on the garage. I got in a little work before it started raining. So far 3x I’ve been in & out, and it’s so dark out, it looks like it will pour again. I’m done for the day.4 -

Ladies,
Thank you all for the welcome. I am usually pretty private, so this is all new to me. How long does the "out of body" feeling last? I am trying to eat healthy and cut back on sugar. I am thankful I didn't put off my mammogram (like last year). They found architectural distortion and it all started in June 1 of this year.
I need to get out to weed, but just don't have the energy yet. Here in PA, its humid and tons of mosquitoes are around.
I love the artwork and cross stitch. Wish I'd have learned how to do it!
One day at a time.
Take care and prayers for a great weekend all.

My kids, 2 of my granddaughters and I and I did a 5K breast cancer fund raiser today. I had never done anything like this before and wanted to do it to celebrate my last day of radiation. It was overcast and there was a breeze, but by the time we were done my hair was dripping. It’s so humid here. Came home and we celebrated with lasagna I made. I’m such an introvert that I didn’t go up for the group picture. Now my back, hips and knees are killing me but I’m so glad we did it. Hopefully we’ll be able to do it again next year.
I haven’t heard of architectural distortion. Mine was found by MRI and hadn’t shown up on my last mammogram. I was eligible for the high risk clinic because my mother died of breast cancer. Because I was diagnosed my daughter will be screened twice a year now.
I grew up in PA, just in the western part. Anytime we go home to visit my brother I’m amazed at the horrible amount of gnats! We didn’t have that when I was a kid. We lived in the country and I was always in the fields and woods and never saw a tick. Now, apparently they’re everywhere, too.Hang in there, susieq, and keep yourself in God’s hands. Everyone enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hi to all. Its been a quiet August. Swimming 3-4 x a week, knitting a new blanket, avoiding cleaning my office, and hosting a bit of company throughout the summer. Move to the beach and they will come. (We do love it though). Also saw Graham Nash in concert recently. Pretty awesome for 84. Betrayal mentioned their crepe myrtle and I had just taken a picture of mine. Have a happy rest of the weekend.

I’m beat! I took a 2.5 mile walk this morning, sweating through my clothes. When I got home I had to get out of my clothes they were so damp. But that’s not what has me beat.
Tiny beetles - we have them again. You’d never guess the food source!! It’s a large neck heating pad, full of rice I’d assume. I bagged it quick and took it to the outside trash.
Then I emptied the linen closet, 6 shelves full, and so many tiny beetles! Sesame size and smaller, alive & dead. I’ve got probably 6 or more loads of laundry to go.
It never ends. Wiped everything down with Clorox wipes. I’ll check again before putting items back in there. And that’s my Sunday!!

Tiny yellow beetles invade the campers here during the winter. The door to our camper is very tight when closed. It's hard to imagine how they squeeze themselves through the cracks. One chore on arrival is to vacuum the beetles. They haven't been as numerous the last two years.
Yesterday dh and I went bicycling for the first time this summer. We transported the bikes to the village of Dorset and biked to Park Rapids on the Heartland bike trail. 6 1/2 miles. Then back to Dorset. The return trip was much harder for me than in the past. I was "tuckered out" by the time I arrived at the truck. As expected, I had leg cramps later, back at the camper. A hint from dh's cousin, Cindy, who ran marathons, is to eat yellow mustard. I consumed a couple of tablespoons, drank lots of water, applied Voltaren. Something worked because the cramps stopped gripping my thigh muscles. I slept well and didn't get up this morning until 7:30.
Off to the gym this morning and then to Walmart's with a list. My Monday routine. I'm hoping the dire weather forecast for tonight doesn't bring high winds and huge hail.
Happy Monday. The NYT crossword puzzle is easier on Mondays. I can usually solve it. Each day afterwards it gets harder.

Yesterday was my family birthday party at Bonefish Grill. My BFF was able to find someone to drive her and her guest turned out to be quite sociable. He thanked us for welcoming him and the great meal.
My DGS and my step GS also celebrated birthdays this month so it was a real family occasion. I ordered Bang-Bang shrimp appetizers for the table to share, for my BFF it was a first and she was in love. DSIL had the appetizer and also ended up ordering the Bang-Bang shrimp tacos for her entree.
We had the private room to celebrate in and it was so nice to be able to talk without concerns of bothering other patrons. DGS discussed what he wanted to order with me because of cost (he added on a lobster tail) and wanted my okay. Of course, he can order what he wants to eat. Each guest ordered their meal from the menu including drinks and dessert so there were no regrets.
My DD and DSIL decorated the room and had mini bouquets from Wegmans for each adult female guest to take home. They were lovely and each was in a small wine glass. They had balloons, table runners and it looked lovely. My DB and DSIL gave me 2 bottles of my favorite red wine and 4 gift cards: 2 each for Uno and 2 for Bonefish Grill. Both are close to us and we enjoy having meal there.
All in all it was a nice party and our favorite server was in charge of our room. We love when she is our server when we go for meals and to have her yesterday was a bonus. She's attentive without hovering. Handling 13 guests is not easy either.
DGD had lobster for the first time and loved it. I think lobster was one meal which was ordered most. DH always gets fish.
We had thundershowers last night with some downpours which we really needed. I won't have to water the new plantings much this week since more showers are predicted.
DGS volunteered to help spread the last 11 bags of mulch so he will be coming down for a day or 2. He starts school next Monday and I think he feels bad he didn't help with the other 80. Now he's 16 he can get a job. He did apply for one and is waiting to hear back.
Tomorrow I take my car to the dealer for the annual inspection and an oil change. I'll do drop off because I don't want to sit around at the dealership even though they have this elaborate barista bar where you can choose your favorite and offer snacks as well. I most likely will snag a biscotti though.
Hope everyone has a great day and waving "hi" to everyone.

Tippy got tangled up in his harness yesterday. I should have been watching closer. Since we have had it for a long time, I decided to cut it off rather than fight him. So today we are taking our walks with his collar, and can't do "bike-ride" (he runs alongside me while I ride the trike). He was upset and mad/sad. I had to hold him on my lap then sit alongside him so he could settle down for his afternoon nap. Usually a bike-ride tires him out enough that he doesn't have to demand use of my time and body in order to get to sleep. In case you don't get it, he is not a toddler, he is a dog with buttons. At times, his favorite is "NOT!"
I got a floor fan and a dehumidifier. Tired of stale, smelly air. Going to get out the serger and cut some old kitchen towels into quarters for use as mini-mops. I don't want to be using paper towels anymore.
VERY nice party, betrayal.
EEuw!, Cindy.
Welcome to our newcomers, lurkers, and otherwise still new people, Maggie15, littlec, reader425, susieq64, intolight, and littletree. I was beginning to get worried about the thread. Keep on posting, folks! We don't bite!

Later developments with my toddler. He finally talked me into a bikeride with him in the basket. Then we joined a conversation circle in the courtyard. He wanted up, so I petted him on my lap for maybe 20 minutes.

Lost a long post a couple days ago and didn't have the patience to redo it. See if I'm better tonight.
l1ttlec - good for you and your family on the walk. I don't think I could do that much anymore.
Belated happy birthday, Betrayal. Sounds like a fun party.
Our anniversary was Friday. Ken was actually weepy when he opened his gift. Made me especially happy I did it. Debbie will open her copy Saturday on her birthday. Couldn't believe how much it cost to send it to her.
These pictures are in the opposite order than I intended but….this one taken New Year's Eve.
The dining room chairs were from a book that had 12 patterns. Each flower arrangement was in a different vase. It was basically counter needlepoint. Sure couldn't do it now. The ladies were my last project.
Had a 4th cortisone shot in my right hand yesterday. I don't think it's going to work. I had hoped to put off surgery until next spring but don't know whether that will turn out to be the plan. I'll give it a few more days but if I need surgery soon, I'd like to do it as soon as possible so I can golf this winter.
Be careful in this crazy weather everyone. Glad to see you new folks here.

Belated Happy Anniversary, Taco.
We're running the heat pump this morning. It got down to the 40's last night. The sun is out and it will warm up during the day.
Happy Wednesday.

A wedding anniversary is the celebration of love, trust, partnership, tolerance and tenacity. The order varies for any given year.

Taco, belated happy anniversary and your book was a true labor of love. Today's quote was dedicated to you and Ken. Lovely photos. I missed what is happening with your hand, but hope you get some relief from the cortisone.
carole, seems funny to have to use heat when you have had such hot weather where you are.
Chris, glad you were able to find something that was acceptable to Tippy for his missing walks. I enjoy your stories about him and how he communicates his wants.
Finally weather where I can go outside to try to finish mulching last year's landscaped area. I finished the area that is not fenced in and abuts this year's new section. I need DGS to assist with finishing the fenced in area since it is really steep. It doesn't require a great deal of mulch, a bag or 2 should finish it. I spent the next hour weeding yet again. I cleaned up some beds I had already done including being mulched, and then addressed some areas I had not yet done. I have a 3/4's full large leaf bag. I forgot my sweat band so decided to quit when I began sweating profusely. I was using my shirt to wipe my forehead to keep it out of my eyes. The humidity is supposed to be about 50% so it was the heat that was the issue. So 9 more bags of mulch to go for completion. Hoping DGS can help with those.
There is a small crape myrtle down front that is white and the deer discovered it this year. I want to put an enclosure around it to keep them off it. When I came back from the dealership yesterday after a car inspection and oil change, there were 3 deer having a snack in this area. So that is now on the "to-do" list.
Waving "hi" to everyone and wishing everyone a great day.

Hello everyone,
Taco1964- Happy Anniversary ! 60 years is just fantastic.
May we all persevere thru this season!

wow 301 posts since I was last here. Congrats to Taco and 60 yr anniversary! I’ve been busy with my exercise routine, work theatre and my wee gardens. Love this time of year. No fires near me except the smoke from Spokane as it just south of Victoria somewhat. Many friends sadly lost homes in the Okanagon with the Bald Ridge fires. 😫
I am on stage in October in the stage version of Clue! I play the iconic Mrs Peacock. I’ll post pics once I have some.
Health wise I had my colonoscopy and I’m all clear there. Phew. Awaiting ENT for my chronic cough as my lung function was normal. Phew. Wishing everyone well and enjoy summer and life! I’ll go back and read more posts.
here’s a photo of my cats enjoying the catio6 -
@canarycat love the cats and the patio. Peaceful.

Taco - happy belated anniversary! Love the photo book.
betrayal - happy belated birthday. 🎂. Your family dinner sounds wonderful.Canarycat - nice to hear from you. Will be interested in hearing more about your theatre production.
Cindy - your Cape Cod trip sounds wonderful.
Carole - 40’s actually sounds nice.
Just the usual stuff here. Weeded one section of garden today - I definitely do not have betrayal’s stamina. Last time I got out on my bicycle was 10 days ago, but I got in 20 miles. My right knee was not happy. Will likely stick to 12-15 miles in the future.
Waving hello to all.

Taco, joyous happy anniversary and congrats on completing your book.
We took a trip to Seneca lake in the Adirondacks. Had beautiful weather and should have booked longer.
It was a free night so I was sure I’d be looking at the parking lot, but no - they gave us a lake view. Weather was great - cool enough to walk all the shops, and stop in for a beer on a rooftop brewery.
As the sun set it cooled off, kind of damp being next to the lake.
Then off to the fire pit to get rid of the chill. I did run in to put my bathing suit on and got in the hot tub - indoors. Great time.
