Some good news i think, everyone. After I’ve recently been hospitalized 2 times with very bad Bacterial hemmohagic Pneumonia since May and spent 2 weeks in Hosptitla getting all kinds of bloodwork. I came home yesterday and I also was told by the Hospital onclogy team that they were monitoring my Cancer Antigen 27/29 and when I came in to the hospital last Wednesday my number was low 27, and then the day before I was released it had dropped again to 23. Wow Stage IV bone mets NED??. Now I’m really grateful for this news and no wonder my regular oncologist calls me a miracle dispite my Pneumonia issues… I just wanted to share this with everyone here and all during the last 5 years my mammograms on Right breast show LCIS and they just surveil me once a year diagnostic mammos. So I pray this gives hope to any one here with Breast cancer fears of progression. There are so many treatment meds that have come out since 2017 which give cancer survivors many more years with their loved ones so take heart survivors. Keep kicking cancer’s ass. 💕. I hope @sherri2004 contacts me. I think I know you from way back in 2010 as SherriG. And if that’s the case, hello old friend, sorry we lost touch over the years. BCO has been such a support to me the last few years after Stag IV. Godbless you and congratulations on your Breast cancer survival all thes 20 years. So happy for you.🌷🩵

I’m so happy to hear your good news and that you’re out of the hospital. I know how incredibly boring hospitals can be, and how you end up counting the days until you can go home.
I’m also so happy that your markers are dropping at this rate and that you’ve reached NEAD — fingers crossed! 🤞
Congratulations on reaching this point, and I truly hope the treatment continues to work for you for many, many years to come. ❤️🧡

@shanagirl - So, so very happy for you, and fingers crossed for continued success!

@irishlove - Just saying hello, and hope you are doing well and continuing to enjoy the remains of the summer.
2 -
Shana - 🎉🎉 for some good news!
Mara - hope your herceptin treatment went as planned and hope your DB can do a walkabout with you soon!
3 -
@shanagirl Wow, that is great news on NED status! The advancements have been amazing to watch since my original diagnosis 10 years ago. May we all live longer than ever expected with MBC and may research continue to progress. Cheers🍾
@mara51506 Hope you get that mall walk in with DB glad to hear he reached out.

hi gals,
Just wanted to pop in and say hi, and congrats to @shanagirl . Celebrating each moment with open hearts and joy !
❤️6 -
@shanagirl Yay for NED!! (Boo for pneumonia)
6 -
@shanagirl you've been needing some good news! Wonderful! ❤️
Hello to everyone in the living room
5 -
Hi everyone. @shanagirl Celebration time girl. So very happy and proud of you for NED!!!! I imagine it will take a bit longer to heal from pneumonia that was so severe and frightening. But you are on the right path. You deserve this great news.
Thanks for thinking of me. Been a bit under the weather. The high temperatures keep me housebound. Just trips to doctor appts. Tomorrow hopefully will be exception. We'd like to go by the hospital to go to Mr. Floyd's cafe and check on a worker at the hospital. Dean is in active treatment for prostate cancer and he's not been doing so well.
Waiting on kids to come down from Charlotte to celebrate husband's 80th birthday. It's delayed by 10 days as they are self-employed and have a heavy work load. This is their season for wedding gown design and fabrication. I'm very proud of them. We will surprise DH by going to Billy's in Ormond Beach. It's an historical restaurant that he would go with his parents as a baby. The new owners put money into the place, but kept the historical elements. Can't wait to see his face.
In pockets for all my sweet friends for scans and life in general.
Laurel

@irishlove Very sweet of you to check in on hospital employee, hope you get to see him. Well how nice to look forward to having your family together for DH bday! Happy 80th to DH and wishing him all the best. Hope you get some weather relief soon!
5 -
@irishlove - Oh what a wonderful thing to go to your husband's old childhood restaurant. That will be so great! Thinking of you, and a very happy 80th birthday to your husband. May your whole family have the best time!

@shanagirl After all the pneumonia stuff, hearing you are NED is great to hear. I am still NED from neck down and am glad that I have that peace.
Nothing to do today, will of course hit laundry, floors and putting extra boxes out back til recycle day.
Probably gonna try some quinoa and chia seeds in the rice cooker with some lentils and possible chicken. Season with some of the popcorn cheese flavour. I will see and post later. Smaller amounts as do not need it to go all day. I did find out lost about 15 lbs. Not sure why, not doing as much junk or chocolate but meals are full and good.
MEAL 1 Changed mind and made a full on egg, whisked with bit of mayo and cheese seasoning, cooked in the mini griddle, took it out, took 1/2 english muffin with garlic, toasted on same griddle then mini hashbrowns done in the mini griddle, put all together, put bit of mayo again and some salt, really pretty good.
MEAL 2 will be a Tina's cheese and bean burrito, will sprinkle some more cheese seasoning, and a bit of mayo.I am sure this will taste pretty good. It was good.
Been debating how to handle eating for tomorrow, mostly because my eating cut off for the CT scan is about 3 to 4 hours before the appointment. I want to eat because I just don't like being without food that long. Will probably set an early alarm that gives me a couple of hours to be hungry enough to eat. I will see. My body sometimes withholds on sleep
@shanagirl hope you have had a chance to celebrate NED, notice you have been at this longer than me, my goodness. I do hope everyone has a good day and in pockets for all.
4 -
@shanagirl Joining in on the NED clelbration. It is good to have some good news in the midst of all else you are going through.
@irishlove Happy 80 BDay to your DH. What a nice surprise with the choice of restaurant. Enjoy your family time together.
I have a dental appt today that I am dreading. It is just a few minor fillings to keep things from getting worse, but I have a dental phobia so I am trying to psych myself into a good outcome. My MO and dentist have been communicating and the MO cleared me yesterday for it, but I still dread it. I didn't sleep well. Apparently a dry mouth and chemo increases tooth decay even though I am diligent about my teeth. I have thought about finding a dentist who will provide twilight sleep, but have never gone that route. I don't need extra complications so I will just bear it. The dentist did provide me with special toothpaste and mouthwash and dry mouth tabs so I will try all that. I really like him and his office which helps.

I am really feeling my news of NED is kind of disbeleiving for StageIV bone mets. I don’t know this oncology team from the hospital I was in and have no reason to fully trust their opinions to discontinue the Verzenio. That chemo pill treatment kept me stable no progression for the last 3+ years of Stage IV bone met diagnosis my long time beloved oncologist cared for me since his diagnosis & treatment for Stage IIIA and years of follow ups and occasional scans and lab work every 6 months. I have grown to really trust and care deeply for my faithful oncologist at the John Theurer Cancer Center In HackensackUniversity Medical Center in North Jersey. I will be having my monthly followup with him on August 31 for labs, Falsodex & Xgeva injections after meeting with him and discussing my future treatment , will I feel more secure .🌷🩵

congratulations on NED @shanagirl .
Irish love Enjoy your DH birthday.@intolight i hope your dental appointment goes well. I’ve been neglecting the dentist bc now I go to a jaw specialist for my osteonecrosis. I’m quite scared to go for a cleaning etc bc I do t want anyone to accidentally touch that sensitive area.
Going out for dinner with my DD and Gd.

@tanya_djamila My dental appt wasn't as bad as I thought. The dentist decided I didn't need two of the fillings that were under crowns. Apparently the new x-ray cameras with AI are ultra-sensitive. Once he got into my mouth and probed around they were just starting and could wait, and he would watch them when I get cleanings. He doesn't like doing work that isn't needed and I appreciate that about him. The others were very small and a quick fix although still not comfortable because they were in front and I needed numbing. Still though, he did it without pain. We shall see when I have the chemo side-effect days if they hurt. I get random tooth pain for those two or three days. Afterwards my Dh and I did a rare in-person grocery shopping instead of ordering it delivered, and stopped for milkshakes on the way home salvaging good out of the day.
I'm praying we all find some small joys in the midst of our troubles. Chris

Milk shakes?? Who had a shake and didn't invite me? LOL @intolight I don't think I could handle one after dental work, so you are truly brave. Boy what I'd give for a true milkshake. Wendy's has a special on their Frosty brand, and I enjoy the chocolate. When I started working at 15, it was at a restaurant where I made sundaes and shakes. Our big seller was malted shakes and dusty roads. I bet @shanagirl knows those items. Big following out of Phila/NJ back in the day. Not saying you are old shanagirl. I hear you and feel you when you speak about trusting different doctors. It's difficult for me every since the surgeon that did my dbl. mastectomy told me the cancer would not return, based on this, that and the other thing. There have been errors at the hospitals since then, that also leads me to distrust some of the care givers.
@mara51506 Thought of you day before yesterday as I was making a meatloaf. Had to do some substituting and it came out so good. Roseanne showed us on her TV s
how that you can spread meatloaf with corn flakes. I use that story every time I'm short or missing an ingredient.
Thank you everyone for support regarding our Minnie Mouse. Buddy, the newly adopted rescue gives her some attention, like trying to steal her treats. Hey any attention is good attention otherwise she'd sleep her life away. She is still a sweet girl, but the weight is too much and we have no idea how to get it off her. She eats very little, but slowed down so much and doesn't chase tennis balls any longer. So the weight went on quickly after Pigeon's passing. Buddy is a hoot. I hide treats behind my back and he picks which hand by staring at the correct side and woofing. Not use to a boy dog, who pees on my planters out front, even though he's fixed. Well I guess that's what they make hoses for.
I had bragged about a cooler day a few days back and then had to fuss about the heat that returned. It's been in the 90's again. Today we had a hilatious storm, but I don't mind as it gives me a break from watering plants and flowers. I can only get about 10 minutes out of my back and then the pain is too much. I talked MO into letting me see RO about this. My appt. is about 2 weeks from now.
Anyone else holding their breath to see if their Humana Medicare Advantage Plan is being cancelled? I can't imagine losing my MO and Primary. Plus how on earth am I gonna pick up Medigap with so many preexisting conditions? I know I'd be eligible for another insurers Medicare Advantage Plan without having to qualify, but last check Unitedhealth bailed last year and don't know of anyone else in our area. I was scheduled for women's health clinic appt. yesterday down in Daytona Beach. I waited 6 weeks for the approval and then the appt. They called me one hour before I left for the appt., to tell me they do not accept my insurance. No suggestions for who or whom does. I think I'll let it go till after September passes, which is the deadline for insurers to notify those policies being cancelled. No use stirring Humana up.
Please be well my sweet friends an.d I'll be in your pockets.
Laurel

@irishlove My Humana Medicare Advantage plan is being cancelled as well. It was the choice of my former employer. I am bummed out b/c it has worked very well for me. I get my plan as a retiree and am supposed to have access to a consultant for my next step. My former employer is going with a United Healthcare "Passive PPO" as the replacement. But apparently, if a Medicare Advantage Plan is ended, there is the possibility of getting back on a better quality plan without underwriting. Certainly no one would accept me with my history. I'll let you know what I find. I am fortunate that at least I have the option of the United Healthcare plan but need to make sure it is accepted by most of my providers. I wish you well if you have to change your supplement too.
5 -
Chicagoan, I was surprised to learn from a friend who is an agent that when you leave a former employer 's Medicare Advantage plan, you have a "one-time only" option to enroll in Original Medicare. She also let me know that even with MBC I could get a Group G Medicare supplement plan from AARP, and that the best drug plan for getting drugs like Verzenio was also the one offered by AARP- these have worked out great so far.
4 -
@intolight Glad after the dental stuff happening and app't, you got to enjoy milkshakes with you DH.
Well, my body would not fully sleep. Originally had a CT scan and assumed as had happened with others for years before, could not eat 4 hours before appointment so body woke me up early. I did eat in the original timeframe I thought I needed. Well the CT machine is broken so cancelled Paratransit and was rescheduled Monday, but while I was on with the hospital worker, she said I can eat before my appointment, no fast required. Ok then. No big deal, just have a weekend off.
Nothing on agenda for now, I did have lentils and a couple of mini pot pies. Nothing huge but some nutrition and they were quick. Later I will see what happens. Will most likely have some quinoa, chia seeds, rice and lentils, small portions of each and would start them early since it would take a long time.
Hope all have good day and in pockets for all. Kind of sad about losing Dolly Parton, Tim Curry and Peter Cullen, he did voices on a lot of animated stuff I watched including Optimus prime on the Transformers. A cluster of losses.
I did pull out the rice cooker. It is all about the quinoa, some chia seeds, an egg and some lentils. Got 1/4 cup of quinoa, water, chia seeds first. Put a pat of garlic, been using like butter lately, put in egg and stirred it round since yolk would either pop or just be gross. Put it on the brown rice setting, just a bit of a longer cook. About an hour, just wanted quinoa not stuck to the bottom of a pot which always happened before. If there is shredded cheese in fridge, will put that in later, I will see. Post about taste later.
4 -
@mara51506 Don't forget to add losing Shelley Faberes on Aug 22. Dolly's death kingd of overshadowed hers.
3 -
@cure-ious Thank you. That is such helpful information. I am most nervous about drug costs b/c most other things I could pay out of pocket.

OMG, my lifeline alert has been crazy today. Twice, when opening containers in kitchen, the darned thing was set off so went through the whole no it is not an emergency routine. In the evening same thing happened and the red light would not go out. Did not realize little tiny button I could have used to anyway, I pushed the help button thinking I would get them to resolve the red help button. No they called my DB which apparently caused him to panic according to SIL.
I will make pros and cons of this.
Pro, I know for sure this thing works with a worker contacting DB, that is good.
Cons, DB scared and panicking since he was at work, I need to be more careful about how the pendant is worn so if I can remember, will turn it around so when opening a container in the kitchen so I cannot accidentally press it and when in bed keep it turned upside down, less likely to set an alarm off.
5 -
@mara51506 Do you need to change the battery?
2 -
@mara51506 Sheesh how annoying, poor DB that can be very scary. Was thinking the same thing Barb said , possibly the battery? Hope it’s an uneventful day for 🤞🏻Sorry about the CT debacle but glad you don’t have to fast now!
3 -
@shanagirl @cookie54 I think battery is fine, found that when I opened jars, they would press the button. I shortened the pendant a bit and flipped it backwards, seems like that could solve the butt dial type problem for me, I will see. Debated turning off whilst cooking, decided that would be a silly thing to do. Having it backwards would keep it from being pushed easily and now I know how to turnoff the flashing help button. Just turn it off from back for a moment, turn back on.
Nothing on agenda for today of course that I know about, seems nice enough outside. Laundry, floors, cat area to be cleaned. May whip out the shop vac and give a thorough clean, I will see what I feel like doing.
Meal one was weird, took a meat pie and put on top of frozen meal penne with chicken. Heated in the rice cooker, added some sour cream and onion seasoning and a dollop of mayo. It tasted alright and was filling. tasted alright but cannot say was really good. Still trying to find stuff I enjoy having most of the time.
MEAL2 Got a meal from the burger joint, Harveys, got a snack size cheese burger with cheese and bacon, tomato, onions and olives. Onion rings, pepsi and 4 cinnamon donuts. I love all of it.
Spending today trying to fix my oldest phone, got it charged by holding in place with bit of tape but screen no longer working. Thankfully my Mom had the same phone so swapped out the SD crard. Will see if I can fix it. Watch some videos to see if I can do it.
Have a good day all and in everybody's pockets.

Hey ladies happy Saturday . Committed to walking with a few much younger people on Saturday mornings so far it’s been nice. It’s a nature walk so I can go slow and everyone’s nice.
@mara51506 i do use the neck fan you suggested. It is very nice. Too bad your DB had to be notified. It’s still a good idea for your safety. Hopefully turning it around does the trick.
@intolight thats an amazing dentist. I haven’t had a milkshake since I lived in NY (carvel) 20 years ago. I want one now of course.
DH treatment is giving him nausea se’s and fatigue. Durvalamub (sp). Hopefully it’s shrinking the tumor.
Have a wonderful day.Tanya

@tanya_djamila Happy Saturday to you also and it sounds great that your are doing some walking with a few younger people. I do love hanging with the younger ones and would never want to live in a senior community for that reason. My neighborhood id multi generational Many who’ve grown up here in the neighborhood with adult children & grandchildren living in their renovated homes. Many dogs and a dog walking area with benches and gravel area along the bay, with doggy doo garbage 🗑️ for poppy bags,. It’drelaxing here during the summer because during the day people com to fishand crab over the bulkhead along the water.. . Sadly because this summer has been so brutally hot Iand I’ve been recovering and weak, I have not yet once walked down there the next house up.. that’s why I’m really looking forward to fall cooler weather, and takining advantage of my new walking sneakers for orthopedic ankle issue. Just going down there with my pugs & DG will get me started to walking the Seaside Pk Boardwalk
@mara51506 Yesterday I made fried chicken cutlets with some with some lemon wine sauce,, for DH & my Son. So I made 2 packages and there’s is a lot left over for heating tonight for dinner😋.

Shanagirl, so happy for your Ned status. Hope you're finally done done with lung issues. Those scare me with family history of lung issues.
I'd have just gotten to NED except for the new primary bc 2 years ago. It was only interrupted.
A faslodex shot for me again (still) and restarted Xgeva last Tuesday. Osteoporosis is now an issue with a bunch of bulging discs. Since I'm Ned the xgeva will only be 2x per yr. I hobble around with a good share of aches and pains but Taking 1-2 mile walks weather permitting. Avoiding hikes in woods from fear of falling again.
So good to see everyone else hanging in there.
