Maybe this has been covered before, but I couldn't find quite what I'm looking for, so I'm hoping some of you can share your experiences! I was diagnosed with Stage 0 DCIS about two weeks ago. I have a strong family history of breast cancer, and I've always known what decision I would make if my number ever came up. So, in…

Hi all, I’m getting my question in very late in the game, I know, but I’m feeling very overwhelmed in several areas of life and I just wanted to ask for some help knowing what to expect. In a day and a half, I’m having a bilateral reconstruction. On my left side, the expander got infected 6 weeks after a lat flap…

After 17yrs….. 2009 double mastectomy, silicone implants and alloderm, I finally visited a plastic surgeon who said I have implant capsular contracture on both sides. I had normal MRI results in 2012 and 2023 to check for implant leaking. I am surprised how extensive this surgery plan is. 1st surgery to remove the implant…

After two primary breast cancers, two major complications and waaaaay too long with a once-infected tissue expander still in, I’M HAVING IT ALL CLEANED UP! Couldn’t do it with a DEIP like I had hoped, so both the expander (left) and the silicone implant (right) will be removed, the capsular contracture tissue will be taken…

I am in treatment and while others say I'm doing well, I haven't felt it. I was diagnosed with triple negative IDC in my left breast at 38 this year. Multi-focal, 2 tumors - 1.6 cm and 5 mm. They said node negative but then later my second opinion team, NCI, saw the first place biopsied the wrong node so I had to do it…

Hi all, I was diagnosed with DCIS in 2010 and had a partial mastectomy and radiation on my left breast. In 2014 I was again diagnosed with High grade DCIS in left breast. I had a double mastectomy including nipples and a Tramflap operation using the skin, fat and muscle from my stomach to create breasts. I absolutely hated…

My Breast Cancer Journey from the perspective of a physician/patient/wife/mom of 3 boys and 1 pup: Dec 2022- First screening mammogram (Age 45, no risk factors) found over a 5 cm area of microcalcifications of left breast near nipple, which then led to 4 additional mammograms and ultrasound biopsy. Biopsy showed DCIS, high…

Hi, I want to get my silicone implant of 16 years removed due to contractures and pain. I recently had a MRI due to finding a lump, but it turns out it is the implant that I can feel. It is uncomfortable all the time and cold. I am considering going flat afterwards and have mixed feelings about appearance. No real good…

Hello everyone. It has been a while since I was on here. But I have questions and need your help and I know this entire community is amazing. I was here everyday during chemo and all my treatments. I had to have an implant removed last year due to infection. Fast forward to now and I had another tissue expander exchange on…

Hi all My partner is scheduled for single mastectomy and implant next week. Looking for advice-tips on what type of things I can expect, what can I do to prepare for after surgery and what I can do to help her though the recovery period?

I’m curious if anyone here has tried any of these. I’ve read some success stories but would love to hear firsthand experiences. It seems like the medical community has been hesitant to share much information about how these options might benefit people with cancer, whether it’s breast, colon, or other types.…

Hi all. I had bilateral mastectomies in 2008 after a diagnosis of bilateral BC. I had implant reconstruction with a successful outcome. However, in the past couple of months, I have noticed capsular contraction on one side. Since my surgery, we have moved to Maine and I need to find a plastic surgeon who is an expert in…

I have a unique history when it comes to reconstruction. I had saline implants prior to diagnosis and my breast surgeon asked if she could re-implant them when she did my double mastectomy. I then had chemo, followed by radiation. Fast forward 5 years later, and I decided to go for reconstruction. The "old" implants would…

Recently diagnosed with stage 1 ILC. Surgeon says I am a candidate for DTI, direct to implant surgery. anyone have this type of surgery, pros and cons?

I've had my current set of implants....mentor silicone implants for 3 1/2 years now...and there are times I feel like I want to claw my chest off...this is mostly in the evening....I haven't been to the PS in 1 1/2 years (or is it 2 1/2 years) and have no plans to make an appt for him to just look at them and say yup, they…

Hi All! I would love to hear from those that have swapped UTM (subpectoral) implants for OTM. I had my mastectomy in 2015 and UTM was recommended. I have since developed capsular contracture, as well as animation deformity which has had a noticeable impact on my chest strength/yoga practice. I also have an overall tight…

Hi- I had breast cancer and bilateral mastectomies 13 years ago and immediate reconstruction using silicone implants. I’m having the implants removed and plan to go flat. The surgeon I saw said that he could only partially remove the capsule since I have no breast tissue. Everything I read says it’s best to have the full…

I’ve had my implants for over 10 years, and lately, they’ve started feeling uncomfortable. I’ve also been dealing with some health issues, though I’m not sure if they’re related to the implants. I’m also worried about the potential risk of developing another type of cancer from the implants. Looking back, I probably…

Hi I had double mastectomy and immediate reconstruction with implants two months ago. I had nipple removed so my scars are across my breast. It’s been two months but my skins over that area are still super red and stiff/hard in texture. I don’t feel anything since I had no sensation over time area. I’m wondering if that is…

I have a recurrence of DCIS in my right breast. In 2017 I had a lumpectomy and radiation. I now need to have a mastectomy and I’m hoping to have an implant reconstruction, rather than the DIEP flap. Most of the conversations I’ve found on the success of an implant reconstruction years after having radiation are pretty old.…

Good evening everyone; I live in Turkiye and my mother inlove has stage 2 hormonal breast cancer. She took chemo, surgical operation then radiotherapy but after all of this, cancer cells again reveal at the same breast (left). By the way she has an implant after surgical operation. Currently she begins to take 2'nd chemo…

I've had a setback with my reconstruction and I'm not sure what I want to do. I had a mastectomy on the right side in November 2022 and had a tissue expander placed, which was swapped for an implant in October 2023 after I healed from radiation. I had mild discomfort from the implant even after recovery and wasn't super…
