Janis- I am at work now, hope you're not working too hard, and are able to play hard after work.
TEENA! Where have you been? I have been MIA for awhile, but you have been gone way too long. You are missed. Hope you had a good holiday!
Donna- Hope you are keeping warm, the ice storm is heading my way (round 2, for this weekend and 1 more to pass before Mon)

Christine - the first ice storm has passed us and headed your way with another one right behind it for tomorrow. Don't work to hard and stay safe.

Ice storm? Should I stock up on liquor???

Tonight it's some cheap wine that was left over from a demo at work. It's drinkable. Now, will I have a headache in the morning? I sure as hell hope not!

Work still sucks for me, Christine, because I want out of retail. I tolerate it but just barely some days. If all else in my life is okay then work is okay but if shit happens at home (like my land line going dead this week) then work seems extra aggravating. I'm searching for a new job but it seems I'll be at W.F. a bit longer. I'd rather find something when Avery gets here but if it's before or after I'll deal with that. Now, if she'd just get here!

Tomorrow at work it's our pre-inventory count day so I'll be counting product for a few hours and plan to bring my old, small, portable black and white tv in so I/we can at least see/listen to parts of the Bear's game in the back room! Can I please find a job where I have Sunday's off?????

It's cold here but no precipitation (yet?). I wish everyone safe travels in this winter mess!

we've been on the edge of this friggin' ice storm--but tonight, our temps have finally dropped below freezing. We have ice in the trees--beautiful when the fog lifts enough to even see them-----thinking that tomorrow will be our roughest day.

But, have a garage full of bottled water (???? not sure why...) and cases of my ML, so will be okay!

Naples, FL! We were there early Dec and loved it--we'd move there in a heartbeat--if only could win the lottery! Beeeeutiful area, but exxxxxpensive!

Christine--may be heading up St Louie way in next week or so--will let you know........

Sam-----you gotta let us know when next hubby convention is in Vegas........think we might have interest in a repeat get-together!!! Wouldn't THAT be a hoot!

Hope all in the ice-storm's path(s) stay safe and warm; don't lose internet access (my biggest fear!!!!)

    love, junie

Hey Junie and Sam, my Vegas gals-so glad to see you checking in, We must be on the same wavelength.
So far I have been on the wet side of the storm, it's cold and rainy, even just miles away they are covered with ice and no power, but I have been passed over by this one. Thankfully!
Junie, just pm me, if your coming to town. I am having surgery on 1/22, but looks like only a few days recovery.
I am glad to hear you have stocked up on the ML. Enjoy it, if you get iced-in!

Uh oh! Looks like we're getting the bad weather here in Chicagoland! It was raining earlier but now that it's colder out it's kind of icy. I have to work tomorrow but not until 2p.m. so I don't have to worry about driving or anything. Luckily it's a holiday for many so there shouldn't be too many people out and about. I'm safe tonight and have plenty of wine (and water) just in case!

HUH. Guess I'm the only one here without a life.....

That's okay, my scotch is my friend! Work was slow today. Either everyone was out of town or at the malls. Can I please find a job where I don't have to work every frickin' holiday???

But the good news is that I'll be seeing the lastest stud again! Like scotch, quality over quantity! (I think?)

Freezing my ass off here but happy to not have had an ice storm, just an inch or so of snow. Hope everyone else is well if not drunk!

    Cheers!

Hrmph! Me again replying to my own post! Not really drinking tonight, just finishing off the last of the Vanille Royale which is just like drinking a glass of spiked half and half. I doubt this stuff could get anyone drunk but it sure is tasty!

I have a job interview tomorrow and I believe if I want a position at this company then I can have one as they're hiring a lot of people right now since they're expanding in IL. I'm scared to leave what I know despite truly wanting to leave! The biggest factor is Avery, and when will she get here? Who starts a new job and then goes on family leave? Well, if it's right then it will all work out I suppose.

I hope everyone is staying warm - and liquored up!

    Cheers!

Hi all, Been busy trying to keep up with the Wagon Circle that by the time I get done reading my brain is so loopy that I feel like I've been drinking with out all the side affects?
Haven't had to take the pain pills for a while just plain ol tired and loopy!

Who asked about taking CMF and drinking? I took CMF and my Doc said I could have a glass of wine if I felt like it. But be sure to see what your Doc says!

Janis, there is a couple here in Washington that are adopting two kids from Guatamala, bnut the embosy would grant the kids the visa to come to the US. Something about he didn't make enough money to guaruntee the kids wouldn't become dependent on the state? Granted he did have thriteen kids at home already. But they looked like they were pretty well off for the area they lived in. The story made me think of you and Avery. Any news on when she'll get to come home? I sure hope you don't have any hang ups like this one.

We've been dealing with snow ice more snow and more ice. I'm tired of it. I want the ice to go away! I can deal with the snow just fine, but not the ice!

    Hope everyone is doing well

    Cheryl,

You do have to 'prove' during the homestudy process that you make x amount of dollars over the poverty level and can provide for the child(ren) and the adoption agency should have caught this. Or maybe they did? I don't believe they would actually get to the point of almost bringing them home and then be told they couldn't but what do I know?

No, no new news on Avery. I'm just waiting for the final court prosess to be over and once I get their stamp of approval and the birthmother officially signs off on her (oh, that sounds so cold!) I'll be able to go back down there and get her!!! You'll hear me scream when I get the word!

Other than that, I'm job hunting so wish me luck!

Janis - good luck on the job hunt! You're right - if it is meant to be it will happen!

We're still frozen in about 3 inches of ice here, and they're saying another system could move in this weekend, which REALLY sucks, because this weekend is "girls weekend" at my house, and we've got lots of drinkin' to do!!

    Everyone stay warm & drunk

Checking in with the drinking girls,

Janis-best of luck to you on your job hunt. You will find something that suits you no doubt but looking is never fun.

donna-no ice nor snow here in Alabama but it is rather cool. It was 22 degrees last night and thats cold for us southern girls. I had a few beers but not too many and will continue tonight where I left off. I love it when its cold and can ice down the beer and the ice not melt. there is just something good about a beer in a cooler. its so much better than the fridge.

It was a great weekend and drank my share of beer then. Gotta restock for this weekend coming up but hard to restock when I have a few each night. Oh well,,,lifes fun!

I must say you all make me jealous getting snow.

    bye for now. amy

Okay, my drinking buddies, I finally have some good news! I have passed the final court process in Guatemala and it should only be another 3-5 weeks before I can get my old butt down there and pick her up!!! Now, that is definitely something to celebrate! Thanks for letting me share!

    Cheers,

Great news Janis! You and Avery have been in my thoughts. 3-5 weeks will be here and gone before you know it. Get ready and take a deep breath, when needed. You will be a great mom.

    Baby shower, baby shower!!

As soon as you have her home we will need your address, Avery's size, and a wish list so we can shower you with pretties.

This will be a great shower because we won't have to play any corny, boring games (which by the way I almost always win) and we won't have to drive home toasty 'cause we'll already be home.

I love the idea of a baby shower...please let us know so we can get started...already have some great ideas!!!
We could send you all the stuff and come online one night as you open them and have a baby shower drinking party with, as Lini said, no silly games!

Aw, thanks ladies!!! I am so g** da** f***ing excited about this that I can hardly contain myself! Actually, I'm very good at self contaiment but just had to write some 'bad' words to let you all know that this is totally the best thing ever for me!

A virtual baby shower would be cool. We're asking only for love and positive thoughts for her future here with me! She was a joy to be with that week in Guatemala and I will do my best to be a good mom to her always. I wrote her foster mother a long letter last night (and cried the entire time) as she truly loves Avery as her own but it's time for Avery to be home with me, her forever mother! I'll post pics again when we get back!

As for drinking, I'll certainly be doing much less when she gets here (less dating too! ) but that's okay. Spending less time here, too, but I'm sure you'll forgive me. Life goes on. I'm definitely moving on.

But tonight it's my fave zin in celebration of motherhood and of life and of friendships! Thanks to those of you who have truly become my friend! Cheers to ALL of us!
