    Christine,

Good luck with the surgery. Cyber hugs and positive, healing thoughts being sent to you!

I swear Avery will be here sooner than later. The day after court approval the birth mother signed the papers. She obviously wants to move forward as soon as possible and that's just fine with me! It's slowly sinking in that my life is about to change 180 degrees. It's going to be so much fun!

My aol e-mail is unrestricted so anyone can contact me anytime. And just so that everyone knows, I am asking that if you send a gift for Avery you have to include some sort of picture of yourself so I can put it in her Life Book. I want her to know that she's loved by all her aunts (and uncles) and see/know who you are!

p.s. to Ter: I need a better pic, one I can either print or one of the old fashioned type taken by an old fashioned camera.

Cheers ladies! I'm off to work. Taking in my old portable black & white tv so we can watch/listen to the game. GO BEARS! We're hoping that everyone shops this morning so we can enjoy the game. We're getting some snow here so who knows how busy we'll be as yesterday we were swamped!

Christine - wanted to wish you well before your surgery tomorrow. Please keep us posted.

We have about 8" of snow on the ground so plan on staying in today and watch the games with a few drinks.

Janis - I am cheering for your BEARS!!!!

Yea Bears!!! I had to work but managed to watch the game nonetheless! Now, will it be the Colts or the Pats? Both good games! We got some slushy snow here but no more than an inch or so I'd say. Mostly slush.

    Cheers to Da Bears!

    Janis,
How old is Avery now? What kinds of things do you need to get the Nursery ready? What theme are you going to use? What colors?
Are you registared anywhere? If not you need to go to Target, Babies R Us, Toys R Us, and where ever else you have there in Chicago and then let us know! We need to get moving! You're going to be a MOMMIE very soon!

I'm happy to say that my daughter Avery is now 5 months old!!! She's small, not as big as American babies, but healthy and H/W proportioned. I expect to be picking her up in about 3 weeks since her birth mother signed the papers the day after the Guatemalan gov't approved the adoption! Woo-Hoo! I already have a crib (but she'll be sleeping with me for a while) and lots of clothes for her age/size. I registered at Babies R Us and at Amazon.com (for books!!!). We're set for now since she's not a newborn and will be eating mushed-up solid food soon but anything for the months to come would be great! My working (and getting a discout) at Whole Foods helps as we carry so many things I'd want to buy anyway plus I get my discount!

This is definitely Life After BC!

    Thanks Ladies!

No drinking last night as I have a slight cold and a bit of a sore throat. Trying to prevent both from becoming full-blown by not drinking but downing echinacea tea.

I'm not sure about the registries. I think they can be accessed by typing in my full name?

    Well, I'm off to work.

    Cheers!

Oh Janis...Your baby is coming HOME! I can not tell you how thrilled I am for you. I don't stop by for a drink very often, but I will pop open a bottle of the good stuff to toast your new happiness. If you would PM me your address, I would love to send Avery a little something. Oh, she is going to have SO many Aunties...

Well, she's "officially" mine as of January 18th which is the day her birth mother signed the adoption decree!!!

Yea!!! It should only be a few more weeks now before I can go back down there and get her. You have NO idea (well, my reproductively challenged moms do anyway!) how frickin' exciting this is for me. It's not so much being post-canser, (but is IS) but being "infertile for unexplained reasons" AND being post-BC that makes this thing/event so much more important and precious to me!

I'm making no sense at all I'm sure as I'm tired, have had two bad days at work and have to work three more before it's all over but none of that is important since I'm FINALLY going to be a mom (at age 46 no less) after wanting this my entire life! Now, if I could only find a way to be home with her full-time, THEN I'd be the happiest woman alive!

Thanks everyone for all your good wishes! And, and I stated before (I think???), IF you send anything please include a picture (recent or high school, whatever you're happiest with) so that I can put it in her Life Book. She will be thrilled to have so many aunties!!! I'll send a pic or post a pic of her with the gift(s)!

    p.s. to Shel:
If we wait for the "right time" it just might never happen. I waited long enough for Avery and have gone into MORE debt to get her but that just makes her MORE precious to me!

I wish I could figue out the best way to post my "info" but I guess I'll just PM all of you individually for now.....

    Cheers!!!
    (Let's all salute Avery)

Don't forget to PM me. I'm so thrilled for the both of you. The debt is only the beginning. Wait 'til she goes to Prom and wants a $500 dress or gets to college. LOL!! It's all worth it.

OMG- Janis!!! I am so thrilled for you and your new daughter. This is the most awesome news. I am so happy that your dreams are now becoming reality. PM your addyor last name, so I can go on line shopping. We still should plan an on-line party, with a drink or two, before you bring Avery home.

I am home from surgery and going into work for a few hours today. They took the right side of my thyroid, it was a benign tumor, woo hoo! As far as the doc could tell, it has still been sent to pathology, but he thinks he looks good. He is hoping I will be fine with 1/2 thyroid and not have to take meds for it, but the levels will be checked over the next few months. Thanks for the prayers, they work!

Still have to check in at the circle thread, but now I am so pleased to read the news of Avery here. This is not only the "funnest" thread it also now the "sweetest"

YEA Christine!!! Good news for you!!! If you do need the meds it's good to know they're out there for you!

I'll PM you but remember I NEED A PIC OF ANYONE WHO SENDS A GIFT! This is for Avery's Life Book and I'll put your pic along with a pic of the gift in her book for her to look at now and when she's older. Who wouldn't want to feel all that love even from years past? Oh, this girl is going to be SO spoiled!!! I'll definitely post pics of the gifts, too. I'll open them with her here and have someone take pics at that time! How fun!!!

Did I mention that she "officially became mine" on January 18th? So, we'll celebrate that day as her Adoption Day I think. Perhaps we'll celebrate her pick-up day, too. Not sure. Still waiting to hear when that will be.

Other than my waiting for her I've been drinking less (too stressed-out to drink! ) and just getting ready to get her here. Looking for another job but today my supv. said he'd accomodate me as best as he could which was nice.

I have a date with Mr. Huge Saturday night which I'm really looking forward to. He is a nice guy despite being a gov't employee! Did I mention that he's a federal air marshall? Gotta get my fun in now, before Avery gets here!

    Cheers!
