No, no theme for her room as she really doesn't have a room yet. She'll be sleeping with me in my room until I have the upstairs remodeled and then she'll have her own room. I have two rooms upstairs but they're kind of joined not separate so it's more like one huge bedroom and her crib is there but she'll be sleeping in my bed until she wants to sleep in her crib.

She looks good in pink (oh, how girly!) and her crib has a pink gingham bumper and ruffle so if that's a theme then 'pink' perhaps?

Gotta head on off to work. No drinking tonight as tomorrow I work the early (6 a.m.) shift. Blech! Oh, I'm definitely going to get MORE sleep when she gets here as I'll be able to nap during the day!!!

    Cheers!

Cant believe I havn't read this thread!! Bit scared thought by the "how about drinking" it may have been questions about drinking during treatment etc and that all the answers would be telling me I am not doing myself or my body any favours by not reducing the intake.

I have stumbled here feeling very shabby after a friends 40th birthday last night and my DH and I rolling in the door at 3am. (kids stayed at Nana's) thought I would take a look here today as it may make me pull my head in and start to behave. Thank goodness it wont!!!!!!

Its Australia Day today and what else should you do on your national holiday than try and get over this hangover and have another champage and a sausage on the barbie.

okay time to go and LOVE MY COUNTRY.

Thanks, Vickie, but I'm not too busy - not yet!

Tonight I had a big dinner of pencil thin asparagus sauteed with sundried tomatoes and a little no-chicken broth served over pasta. Sometimes I'm a pretty good cook! Some French wine (a syrah/grenache/carignan blend), laundry, vacuuming and that's my night. Got adjusted, got my face threaded, Reiki tomorrow and Sunday and Mr. Huge Saturday night after a Mexican dinner and that's my weekend!

So, Cheers to all! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Okay, haven't had more than one glass of wine or beer for quite awhile. I'm on number two and really feeling it. Yes, I've always been a cheap date.

My dinner tonight was bbq'd chicken breast, Trader Joe's Brown Rice Medley, and Green beans with almonds. Yum!! Can't remember what wine I'm drinking. Was on sale, but is actually pretty good. Sauvignon Blanc of some sort.
Guys went to a basketball game, so home alone. Kind of nice.

Janis-Haven't been to Babies R Us site, but will check it out when I have a chance. Love the smell of babies. Miss the smell of babies. Only have the smell of testosterone around here lately. Eek!! Need to rid myself of estrogen, but afraid of the fall-out. Decisions, decisions!! By the way, did you get to pick out Avery's name? How'd she get such an American name? My adopted niece and nephews have very Ethnic sounding names given by their birth moms.

Grubby- Call me if your home. I'm home alone until about 9-ish. Oh but you're probably enjoying alone time with DH.

Maybe Shel will pop in for a visit. It'll be just like old times. I'm really worried about RobinTN. Has anyone heard from her?? Does anybody have her number??

Wow- so much happens when you disappear for a couple of weeks! Janis a Mom! Can't wait to see a pic of lucky little Avery. ChristineK I'm sorry you had to go through yet another surgery but thrilled with the news. Lini I was in CA for the holidays and actually looked at houses this time. (But nothing serious.) Started a new job a few months ago which is part of my absence. I'm working with a Hospice company- if you can believe it. Greatest job change ever. Hugs to all... teena

I always knew there was a reason I wanted to go to Australia

I have a couple of friends from MO (Joplin) coming today. It's "girls weekend" as we call it. No men or kids allowed, but heavy drinking is not only allowed but stronly encouraged. Compliments of BF, we have a masseuse coming to the house tonight WooHoo!

Janis it's been so much fun looking at baby stuff! I picked up some things I was looking at for my daughter and got to look for things for Avery too! Now I just have to clear off the sewing table and get busy so I can get it all done in time! Avery's comes first since she'll be coming home first!
Well I'm off for now these meds seem to make me tired a lot lately.
    Have a drink for me!

    Hey Ladies (aka Drinking Buds)!

Okay first and foremost, thank you all SO very much for all your well-wishes and gifts for Avery. She will be SO thrilled at the out pouring of love (as I am!). And, please send a pic along with the gift so that I can include it in her Life Book. Then I will gather all the gifts, take pictures and post them here on this thread.

As for my weekend, I'm having some wine now just to relax. It's been an eventfull two days and I'm needing the relaxation help that the wine is giving me. For the past two days I've attended a Reiki class and I'm about wiped out! It was so wonderful. I hope to eventually turn this pursuit into a vocation. It's indescribable but if you know Reiki you know what I mean.

I had fun with Mr. Huge last night. Okay, actually it's not all THAT huge but not all that small either. He's a nice guy and we enjoy each other's company so hopefully we'll see one another again. He saw Avery's crib but didn't say anything. I haven't told him about her so who knows what he was thinking - I didn't ask and neither did he! So I guess next time I'll just have to get Grandma over here to babysit while I visit him at his place.

That's all. Just chillin' after a 9-day stretch at work and then my exciting weekend. Just waiting for the Guatemalan gov't to tell me when I'm all cleared to pick up my baby girl! I'm freezing my ass off here in Chicago and hope the rest of you are at least moderately warm!

    Catch you'all tomorrow night!

    Hi all,

Jezza - glad to hear it was your DH cleaning up the BBQ on Australia Day so you could enjoy your drinks.

Donna - Your girls weekend sounds fabulous, how was the massage? Is this a common occurance as Qantas flies daily!!
    and I pack quickly.

We just had a weekend away down the coast as my MIL lives there and it was her 80th birthday. My goodness these little old farming ladies can sure throw down the drinks.
The party started at lunchtime at a resturant then spilled back to her home. I could of gone to bed then and there at 5.30pm but the old dears wouldn't hear of it as well "your 3 months post chemo and have to celebrate"

I made it to 7.30pm and crashed on the couch and couldn't believe it when I woke up at midnight and the 80 year old season performers were still at it. BLESS 'EM

    Hi yowyow,

I always knew that I wanted to visit Australia!! Now we can be drinkin' buds till we are all old and gray .
I had a little too much of the old vino last night. I was supposed to get blood work done today, but I postponed it until Wed. I was afraid the alcohol would throw off the test results !

I was talking to a friend this morning, and she told me that she had a case of the "cocktail flu" yesterday. Old chemo-brained me...it took me a few minutes to get it. I will have to remember that for future reference.

LOL Jan- I did the same thing (twice) with my pre-op appts for my recent surgery. I was afraid, they would draw blood and when I finally went, they did. They didn't say anything about my blood being alcohol thin, I did not drink for a few days before that last appt.
Cheers to all, saw endo today, path reports clean- thanks for your well wishes. Seeing surgeon tomorrow. On the road to recovery, woo hoo.
Hey Teena, good to see you. Why would you wanna leave this frigid Mid-west weather? BTW Lini, I still get into my flip-flops about 1-2 a week. We have been pretty lucky here. Alot of the icy stuff has gone all around us.
Keep Warm where ever you are!

Hi Jan, postponed the blood work and not the drinks, gota LOVE that!!! Why should this crap control us!!

The "cocktail flu" thats fantastic!! I think its been going around my house for way tooo long. It may hang around for a while here though as my youngest son starts school for the first time tomorrow. I will be very very very sad for about 5 minutes. I cannot think of anything better than waiting for school pick up time in my garden that has been neglected for 6 months and sipping on a chardy or Sav'Blanc.

Cocktail flu,,gotta remember that. Its much better than the "virus" that gets me sometimes.

Also glad to know I am not the only one that has postponed blood work because of what might show up,,lmao. I guess we have to have a little bit of control left in us.

Christine-It's been too cold for flip-flops, still wearing my toesie socks.

Teena- Where in Cal are you looking?? I've never lived anywhere but here so I have nothing to compare it to, but I can't picture myself anywhere else. I live an less than an hour to the desert, mountains, beach, Los Angeles, well without traffic.

Janis - Going to try and find some shopping time tomorrow. I guess I need to take a pix of myself, too.

Amy - Yep, I often have the feeling that I'm talking to myself, or killing threads. LOL!!

    Everyone else - Cheers!!

Well, ladies, it's time to celebrate!!! I am heading back down to Guatemala on Monday (officially starting my "Avery leave") to see and pick-up my baby girl!!! Yea!!! I am SO fricking excited! My coordinator called me around 5 p.m. and at first she noted how calm I was but shortly there after I started shaking and had major butterflies in my stomach. I managed to eat some dinner and then started packing! I'm having some wine now to calm my nerves but am NOT heading towards being drunk - I'm too excited and busy for that tonight.

So, it's official - I'm a mom at age 46, 2 years post-BC dx and 30 years of yearning! Thanks for letting me share!

Laura, I'm glad you found me (and this excellent thread)! I am still planning on doing the AVON 2-day walk in June, providing 1) I raise the $2k, 2) I have a job where I can get the time off, and 3) I have a babysitter for Avery!

Cheers! I'm off to bed as packing/planning and getting up at 5 a.m. this morning has taken its toll on old me!
