First--I need to clear up my "drain" question!!  I was toasting to Linda's getting her drains out.   Sorry for the confusion.   When I was in tx, that damn drain was the worst experience for me--worse than surgery, chemo, and rads!  I poured a lot of anger and hatred into that little plastic bulb!!!

okay now--Donna--you just keep that damn old tornado watch in OK!   I'm watching the weather and think most of it is going a bit north of us--we'll get the rain (oh, joy!) and wind, but hopefully no severe weather.   I'm flat weathered out!!  And our spring storm season is just beginning!!!   Looks like this storm may hit Susan's area again!!!   And, maybe, Sam...The Island Girl drink sounds good, we'll have to try it!

    chug a lug!!!

That Mother Nature is sure one bitch when she gets riled up!   Thought we'd blow away early this morning--high winds; lots of hard rain (just what we need!)   Lost power a couple of times--still don't have all the clocks and electronics set for proper time...but, the really bad weather was south of us today, near Little Rock...but, we're okay, all is fine, and have a good stash of ML on hand if need be!!!

hugggsssss to all and chug a lug!

    Girls,

I believe all the hype about drinking and BC is regarding  the fact that alcohol breaks down in to esterol, or one of the three forms of estrogen our bodies makes.  So they theorize that this is another invasion on our bodies of estrogen.  So for ER+ people that would not be good and those who don't have BC they introduce yet another estrogen into their probably already estrogen domant bodies!!!

Well, ladies I will not give up My michelob ultra!

Okay, no laughing, hubby says it is not a real beer.  But it is!!!  I had 6 the night before my bilateral and cigs!  So "f "cancer!  I know that is not the right thing to do before surgery!  But hell if it was my last night with my boobs I was going to have fun!!!! SEX,CIGS and ALCOHOL!!!

Had other surgeries and toasted those nights too!  This week I had 5 beers in one night for no real reason except they tasted good and I was holding dinner for hubby and watching the kids play baseball and relaxing with my "near beer"on a beautiful sunny evening! LOL!

Do everything in moderation, is my motto!  I have always eaten very healthy and still I got this and now diviciticulitus or however you spell that and a colon polyp!  WTF!  I am slim and had great BP,great heart rate ....nurses asking all the time are you a runner...no I am a mother of 5...a different kind of runner!  Cholesterol is fantastic!  But guess what I ended up with serious PVC in right chamber of my heart that I had to have surgical ablation on in March.  So what the hell I have been doing everything right and now I am falling apart!  Maybe it is like the song.... only the good die young.... so I will try to be the bad see if I get healthier!!! JK!

Seriously look it up girls everything around us can expose us to estrogen....Lavender products..yes your lotions, candles, detergent or softener.  Fabrics in our homes can break down to one of the estrogens the list goes on ....soy.....blah blah blah.  The milk we consume has estrogen added if you do not buy the organic kind!  Which I do highly recommend!

So if it a higher risk for BC because of estrogen and we don't have boob tissue anymore than what is the risk?  to our other female parts?  Well mine come out May 20, so drink on I say, although in moderation!  (Not like my 5/6 -pre-surgical or what the hell nights)

BTW-  For some miracle I did not get up with hangover bilateral morning, but this week of yes there was a bit.....you know the old tummy going, man something does not feel right!!!LOL!

Enjoy....... they can take our boobs, our hair and everything down there, but they will not take our happy hour!!!!

    Hi All,

WTF, I must have missed a whole conversation ! May 1st thru the 5th! Must have been drunk. LOL I'm sure my post was odd after Junie explained about her drains!

Dani - I certainly agree with you on the happy hour! I quit  listening to all of the things they say can cause cancer. Most of the time I think they really don't know. My Grandma lived to be almost 99, she ate the way she wanted ( cooked with lard, etc, ) the only exercise she did was chase after the kids, which could be quite a task! I figure if she could do it hopefully I can too!!

Hope everyones weather is beautiful, ours is today.

    Back to work for me,

    Cheers!

LOL @ Lynne! Better drunk than dead! (can I write that here, in the "humor" section???)  Surprised

Yep, I drink. So what? Europeans drink, too. Is their incidence of BC higher? (I'm guessing not)

    Par-tay on!!!

It's deary and rainey here.  There's a possibitlity of tornadoes later GREAT!  Thank God I went to the licka sto the other night and stocked up on wine....

Well, I have had the headache from hell today. I did not drink last night. So I think when I get home I will try the Island Girl drink that Donna created and see how that works out for me! Tylenol is certainly not helping today!

Hope the weather doesn't turn to bad for you Donna!!

Hooray to lite beer and cigs!!!   Glad someone else admits to drinking more than 2 or 3 beers in one evening!  Thanks, Dani!!!

Donna--again, keep your damn tornados!   We've had rain the past 2 days.  Today, it has rained all day long; chilly and foggy--more like October than May.  We are never going to dry out.  Lake needs to drop another 10 feet before they can even install the ramp addition that will let us access the marina.  Fat chance of that happening any time soon!

One time in a doctor's office, the nurse asked me if I drank and if so, how much.   I told her I drank socially.  Then I looked her in the eye and said, "And, I am a very social person!"   She cracked up!!

hugggssss to all and chug a lug!!!

    Hey girls,

Sorry I haven't chimed in too much on this thread, I've just been bitchin. I do have it so these posts go into my email so I burst out laughing at least once a day thanks to you gals!!

I asked my onc why "daily" wasn't an option on the 'how much you you drink' question. He thought it was pretty funny! Like Junie, I am very social!! Well, not as much as I used to be but, it's like this: you want me to go somewhere? Will alcohol be served? If yes, I'll go. If not, I won't. Tongue out

    Cheers everybody!

I just read some new research that shows that even two drinks per day can lead to increased risk of bc.  I drink regularly and love it. I had a bilat mast in 2006.  My mother never drank at all and had bc at 40, died at 43.  Her sister hardly drinks and had bc when she was in her 40's.  We have had the brac test and don't have those genes (although it is highly likely that we do have some sort of mutation).

Life has been hard enough living with cancer in our family.  I am not going to deny the joy of a cold glass of wine at the end of the day while cooking dinner.  Or a beer at Sunday lunch with friends.  Or a celebratory glass of champagne, or three, at my son's wedding.

    salute.

Research research research -wtf does anyone know - it's all a crap shoot.  I say live for the day.

Donna & Junie - please send Noah my way if you are finished with the arc, think we may be floating away soon.  My sis called last night and a funnel cloud went directly over her house but never touched down.  I'm so sick of this rainy weather already.

Junie - I am also a social drinker - can't stand parties that don't serve alcohol.  I am also a social smoker as well - only drink when I partake in drinking.  My friends don't understand how I can only smoke when I'm drinking.  I just don't have the desire unless I have a cold one in my hand.

    Cheers

ps - my new foob is blossoming - must be the spring rains making it grow!!!

    Hey Buds~

Sam - so glad to hear the foob is blossoming!  I'm still waiting for the pics LOLSmile  As far as Noah goes....I'll send him way...he was just here....

Lynne - on the "Island Girl" drink - sister Kristi pointed out that I can't possibly create a drink called the Island Girl that doesn't have rum in it.  She's totally right of course....so If you've already mixed the original recipe I posted, just add a spash (or two) of rum. Cool

J - where are you? Do you ever come to Tulsa?  Unlikely.  It's named Tulsa International Airport, but I don't know why, because you can't fly anywhere outside the US from Tulsa.  WTF?  How is Avery?  If you email some pics to me, I'll try to post them for you (emphasis on TRY).

Traci - just like you and Junie - I too am quite social.  I have a feeling several of us here are!

The tornado sirens were going off here earlier, so as a responsible pet owner, I rounded up the two cats and put them in the middle bathroom, my "safe room", where my weather radio, cell phone, flashlight, etc were then managed to lock myself OUT of the room!  The sirens were going off, it suddently got VERY dark outside....I have an allen wrench trying to pick the lock and finally got 'er done!

The storms weren't nearly as bad as portrayed on TV, but they usually aren't.  The shitty part is - you never know if the storm could actually crank out a tornado.   That's why I had to shut the bathroom door (when it inadvertently locked) because I had to refill my wine glass, and I didn't want the cats to get out  Surprised

A girl has priorities, ya know....

    Cheers,

    Donna

Laffin, and thank you all for giving me some laughs!   The locked bathroom door--well, not to tell stories on anyone, but one of the sisters that some of you have met--her dog managed to shut the bathroom door and lock it--she finally had to call the fire dept to come open the door.   And, another sister, that some of you have met, locked herself inside my bathroom and couldn't get out.   All the noise and music was at the other end of the house and outside, so no one heard her pounding on the door.   Even we didn't know that someone had hung a door backwards and the lock was on the outside, not inside.   We've left it that way on purpose!!!

Donna's tornado is almost to us.   We have no safe room--or place to go that there isn't a skylight.   I've only been through one many years ago that took off part of our roof when I lived in Kansas City...yes, they sound just like a freight train!   I will be so glad when I can start complaining about how hot and dry it is!!!

Chugging one more lug--to Sam and her new foob and glad you're happy with the results--and looking forward to seeing you again, soon!

    hugggssss to all!!!!

    Hi Girls!

Hope everyone made it safely through all the bad weather last night!

Junie - I'll keep hoping that you will dry out soon! Is it typically like this for you in the spring?

Donna - Your story was funny, probably wasn't so funny at the time, but since everyones safe it is now!! I don't have a computer at home so I did not get the message about adding some rum, guess I'll have to have another drink tonight!!

Sam - Hope you dry out as well....the weather....not you!!

Traci - nice to hear from you. If I remember correctly you were going to be moving, how is that going? I also check to see if alcohol is going to be served at " functions" that we will be attending.

    Well better get to work!

Cheers to all of us social drinkers!!

The Island Girl recipe that Donna came up with is so simple!!

Lime vodka mixed with Fresca and a fresh lime wedge.

You have that one night ....and the next night as Kristi pointed out we need to add rum to it! ( island drinks must have rum!)

I have to do that tonight, I had the original last night. I think the night following that maybe we should add a few cherries just to make it look pretty!! Don't know what we'll do the night after that!!

Tonight I drink for Marin's cat (((Marin))) and for my puppy Stella who was spayed today. Stella is feeling poorly and I can't give her anymore pain medication until the morning! Frown

As soon as Summer hits I'll be into the Summer cocktails but until then it's red wine (which isn't so good when it's 90+ degrees out).

bumping this thread--no way should it be on page 2....

    drinking to everything right now!

Was thinking to make a few jokes, but decided not to do that.   Been a few rough days here, weatherwise.   On Sat, had tornado 20 miles west and 20 miles south--way too close for comfort.   All the death and devastation in NE Okla and SW Missouri, was about 60 miles from us...

...severe weather predicted for tomorrow...Donna, please try to send it further north!!!   we seem to get everything you get, only more intensified!!!

...thinking tomorrow morning warrants a beer run!!

chug a lug and everything else I can think of!!!

And people say our earthquakes are bad?! I think I'll keep them over tornadoes, hurricanes and heavy rains. Rain? What's that? According to the news, we may be on water rationing soon. There goes the lawn. I wonder if I can use beer to water the lawn???
