    Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd stop by for a quick drink before I go to bed.  We are having some friends visit for a couple of days, and I bet there will be lots of 'happy hours'.  They are only staying Tues. and Wed., and leaving on Thursday.  We are trying to figure out a way to stop at all the nicer drinking holes while they are here.

The depression is still with me, but sometimes, I have some bright moments.  It is a process, I know.

    Hi Kathy,

What kind of relieved will you be once those drains are out!!  I hope your PS gives you good news to balance all the c*#p.  You deserve some good karma for starting the May SX discussion.

    Thinking about you,

    Carol

I have depression, too, but luckily it usually doesn't last for more than a day or so and it's not as bad now as it was before BC - go figure! Take care and have great fun with your friends!!!

Kathy - I remember how much I hated my drain - it was 2 yrs ago. I will step up and have some drinks for or with you!! LOL  I've always wanted to visit Hawaii but not in the budget! I bet it's beautiful there!

Carol - the liver thing was funny! I may need to check in to that also!

Hey Jaybird! - you're sober? What's up with that? Love the buzz for the ounce!

Harley - hang in there girl! You will start having more good days and less bad ones soon! The bad ones for me have never "gone" away, but are far and few now. Now most of my bad days are from working to stupid jobs!!

    Hi everyone!

Wow, this can be a fun "happy hour", as we all are in different time zones, so lets see, it must be 5 pm somewhere! Thanks for all the concern about my PIA (named one PIA and the other one PIB) drains! I go to the PS today, and will let you know if they finally come out or not. Second fill today too. That happy hour I had the other night was just what I needed! You all are such fun, I am glad I joined your thread!

Okay, tonight I'm drinking to Hillary! She's my vote no matter what and if she doesn't win the presidency then I vow to continue to drink until she does!!! I think I'll have to stay drunk for about four years.....

I'm off to work tomorrow so ya'll have some fun without me tomorrow night. I'll check back in Thursday night while in NY with a glass of Aussie Shiraz/Cab in my hand! Tongue out

BTW, I'm celebrating finally stepping into the new millennium (sp?) with my new MP3 player. I've figured out how to use some of it - kinda sorta!

Hi Jaybird....it might be a really long drunk! But you'll have fun doing it..I got a chuckle when you said that you'll continue to drink, till she gets in.

Good for you on figuring out your MP3 player! I just got one this weekend and it is still sitting in the bag--have to find a time when my head is clear to figure it out. OR...get one of the grandkids to come over. lol...

I still have PIA and PIB---they wouldn't take them out, cause they are still draining toooooo much. Looks like they are settling in for the summer...NOT.

Cheers everyone (took pain med--can't drink with you),

(((Wicked Wahine)))  That's your new name - get used to it!!! Kiss

I think I figured out my MP3 player!! I guess I'm not the technotard that I thought I was??? I'm listening to ME's greatest hits w/ I Run For Life on it so I gotta make this posting quick before I start to cry.

I actually had a neighbor kid come over to help me w/the MP3 player and even HE couldn't figure it out! Granted he's only 9 1/2 but aren't all kids nowadays born with electronics attached to their hands??? Good luck with youre. I do advise taking it out of the packaging otherwise it will never work! Tongue out

Not drunk now as I have to be up at 5:30 but plan on having a few Thursday night and then again Friday night when I get home and then probably Saturday night and then.....

Gotta go, gotta cry over 'our' song..... Cry (and crying over Hillary too....)

    Cheers all!

Yeah Jaybird, I guess I better get that darn MP3 player out of the packaging....darn I thought it might get lonely and start working on its own! Funny that the 9 1/2 yo couldn't figure it out--I guess we do think they all should be experts at electronics...lol. Ok, Ok, I will try it later on...Undecided

Lynne, thanks for having some drinks for me! Maybe you can drown MY sorrows that way....re the drains. What part of TN are you in--we might be neighbors--I am in N. AL, not far from S. TN.

    Bottoms Up everyone,

    Hey all!

Wicked Wahine...that's funny!..I'm sorry you had to keep your drains in, I will continue to drink for you if I must!! What is your beverage of choice? ( I may have missed this in an earlier convers.) I am actually near middle Tn. Murfreesboro area. It would probably take us about 1 1/2 hrs to get to Chattanooga, just guessing. Hope you get that MP3 figured out! LOL

Jaybird - I heard that ME song the other day and realized what it was talking about....where have I been?  Drunk? Very Drunk?? I liked the song. Hope you didn't have to work too hard! Sorry about your girl Hillary...MIL is supposed to get her pathology back today and her drain out, haven't heard anything yet so hopefully it went well.

    Cheers to all!

It's almost 5 - going to have a drink while packing bags to head to Vegas tomorrow.  DH has been there since Sunday for a conference, my 3 sons, dil, and 2 girl friends are going.  Middle son is going to propose while we are there.  I am in charge of getting the ring safely there - he said he doesn't carry a purse.

Some of the girls want to hang at the pools, don't think I will be doing that this trip - have one enourmous expander that looks like it's under my chin.  Makes it hard to find clothes to disguise it.

Welcome to all the newbies - Kathy, I'll have a drink for you while you are taking your pain meds.

    Cheers

    Hi Lynne,

Actually you can have almost any drink for me....I like most of them (except really strong dark beer, or a martini)! I have been to Murfreesboro once I think....I am in the Huntsville/Madison area, so about 1 1/2 hr from Nashville. OK, I DID take the MP3 out of the box...thats a start, right?

Sam, I hope you have a blast in Vegas! I love going there, but too hot for me except in the winter months. That is so neat that your son will propose to his gf while there!!! Hope you can get a picture of that moment. And pleeeeaaaase don't lose the ring! So sorry you can't put on a swimsuit cause of your expander being up so high. I am concerned about the same thing when I go to Hawaii....not that high yet but I have 3 more fills, so have no idea what they'll look like. I hope you have fun anyway--like having drinks and gambling....that should work! Thanks for having a drink for me too....and have a great time in Vegas.

lordie--I miss a couple days and just look at all that's going on!  A big hello to the new names--rest assured that I will be more than happy to have a drink for anyone who can't just now!!  In fact, I'll have several!!!

Sam--how dare you trot off to Vegas without me!   Have a great trip--and play some 3-card poker for me!!!  Where are you staying this trip?   We're trying to work out a super offer from Harrahs in Tunica, flying out of our little local airport...not sure if the dates will work for us--cross your fingers!   Sad thing is--I've become addicted to playing Keno once a week in a local bar that we go to for "dinner"...not winning jack shit, but having a ball.   But, it's money that should be going into my "Vegas" fund!    sigh...

Wahine--where in Hawaii?  Visited Maui a couple years ago--so beautiful--and expensive!  Would love to go back!

gonna finish my ML and get to bed--we have a Sam's Club run planned for tomorrow--it will take most of the day to get there, shop, and come home.  We truly have a little piece of heaven here, but between all the rain/wind/storms/allergies...has been a rough few months...hang in there all of you!

    cheers, bottoms up, salud, chug-a-lug...

    Hi junie,

Yes....have several drinks for me and anyone else still on pain meds and can't drink yet! I grew up on Oahu, go back several generations on my mom's side...but my dad grew up  on the Big Island, and his parents were from England. Maui is nice, but my favorite islands just to sightsee and enjoy relaxing, are Kauai and the Big Island. Esp with the volcano vent erupting by the sea, it is so pretty to see that, on the Big Island. We usually just go back to Oahu, as my parents still live there, so mostly to visit them (and fit in the beach of course, as it is just a block away from them)!

I am tickled that you go to Tunica!!! We go there a LOT...just a 4 1/2 hr drive from us, and we go so much we get free rooms and food. But not enough to get a free trip there. Where are you flying out of? Seems like Harrah's recently bought out the Grand Casino there, also. The one thing we hate about that, is now Harrah's is owning so many casinos there, that there is not as much competition, and the perks and loose slots are not as prevalent. Tunica still has more perks than Vegas though, with the free drinks, etc. Which casino would you stay at? We haven't been lately because of my surgery, but we usually go about once a month. Anxious to hear more details of your trip there!

    Salud,

    Kathy

Great thread! After my mast in March, I got the usual flowers, cards, etc., but one great friend brought over a bottle of champagne! DH and I just got back from a few nights up north, and it went with me - along with a great locally brewed beer with dinner one night and a mango margarita with Mexican food the next night. Hey - it's the third week of my chemo cycle - my liver should be functioning pretty well, huh???

    Cheers,

    Sue

Hi Sue, Sounds like you are back in the swing of things! That really was thoughtful of your friend to give you champagne---I wouldn't have even thought of that, but how neat to receive it. Sounds like you had a fun trip...and mango margaritas....yumm....my DH used to make them all the time, in big huge mexican margarita glasses. I love them! Hope your chemo is going well too. Oh, for the day (night) when I can get back to a regular drinking schedule!!!

    Take care, and Okole Hau,

LOL @ Lynne! I thought ME's I Run For Life was our theme song???  (j/k)

K aka WW - SO sorry about the drains! What a drag. I 'only' had lymph nodes removed (no mast) and my drain was in for two weeks. I just kept on draining, and draining, and draining...  I feel your pain so tonight I'll drink extra just for you! Tongue out

I'm in NY and hope to get home not-too-late Friday night. Until then, cheers to all!

sshhhhh!!  it's very quiet here--think everyone is sleeping off a week-end of one too many!   I should be, too, but I'll sleep it off tomorrow!!

Hope everyone had a great week-end.   We didn't have any rain, but now, the wind is driving me to drink!  Too windy to even sit out on deck and enjoy the warm weather.  I just stayed in my jammies all day and watched funny movies and cooked!  Oh, yeah--and drank!!

    hugggssss to all!

Good Morning! It has been quiet here! It's been HOT here. We're about 10 degrees above normal. I sure hope another drought is not in store for us this year!! I think jammies, tv and drinking all day sounds perfect!! I was supposed to work and ended up not having to. I had the whole day off! We went out on the motorcycle and just messed around. It was a great day!

    Cheers to all!

Well - back from Vegas.  We stayed at the Luxor and some other friends stayed at the Venetian.  Had a great time, came back with more $$ than I left with but paying for 2 extra rooms and 5 airline tickets didn't come out ahead.  Middle son proposed.  He took her on the boat ride thru the Venetian canals.  They asked him how many tickets and he said I want the whole boat!!!  Quite the romantic.

Junie- missed you this year, no 3 card poker for me, just stuck with blackjack and some slots.  If you weren't playing the drinks were quite pricey.  A bottle of beer is about $6 so we went and bought a couple disposable coolers and stocked them with our own.

I can honestly say I probably had a drink for everyone on this thread.

It's almost 5 - gotta go to the fridge!!!

I was actually going to ask someone about drinking through the construction process and I think you guys answered my questions.

Of course someone had to put out that study about drinking and bc, so I bought bigger wine glasses and bigger shot glasses. That way I can honestly say I only had 2.

Now if I could find a high ball glass for my scotch

Welcome to all the new drinkers! Wink

Tonight I'm drinking light - Bud light with lime. It's hot here in Queens (mid-90's) and red wine just didn't sound so good (for once!). This stuff isn't great but the 4.2% alcohol content makes it palatable! Tongue out I steer clear of additives and artificial anything so my flavored beer/malt beverages are limited. Mike's hard lemonade is also good but definitely heavier than the lime bud light.

    Cheers to all!

Queens in the 90's way too hot for red wine, my cousin is up there in New York City she is just dying up there, you need something cool and frosty.

How is the Lime Bud light?  Have you ever tried the hard cider like Woodchuck or the ones actually from England you buy at the liquor store, must be served cold and frosty.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Hi! to all the newcomers!  Welcome!!   The more, the merrier!!!

Jaybird--I'll have to try the Bud Lite Lime.  ML has something similar, think it's called Chill.   I've tried it, but just wasn't nuts about it.   Think I've drunk plain ML for so long, nothing else tastes right.  ('cept wine now and again!)

Sam--welcome home--sounds like a great trip!   And now, you have another wedding to look forward to!  When do they plan to get married?   Keep your ears open for the Down River Casino and Resort.  We've been seeing ads on TV for it, but the ads don't say where it is.  I found out it is just west of Joplin, MO, in OK.   Not open just yet, but is being advertised as the largest Indian casino in the midwest and when fully operational will have hotel, huge casino, and golf course!!!   Might be an interesting place for a road trip some day!!!

HKitty--have you seen the wine glass that will hold a whole bottle of wine?  Next time I see it in one of my kazillion catalogs, I'm going to get one!!!

hugggssss to all--chuggin' my beloved ML

Sam--forgot one thing--next time, just stick a few kitchen garbage bags in your suitcase.  Put them in the hotel room's waste cans and fill with ice--no need to buy coolers that you just have to leave behind.  Drinker's Travel Tip No. 101  !!!    LOL
