Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz Jose Cuervo Silver Tequila
•1 oz Orange juice
•1 oz Cranberry juice
•½ oz Margarita mix
•½ oz triple sec
•Fresh Cranberries
•Margarita salt
•Simple syrupDirections:
1.Add simple syrup to a plate, set to the side.
2.Add margarita salt to a plate.
3.Then roll rim of the glasses in the simple syrup then into the margarita salt.
4.Set glasses aside.
5.Add Ice to your glass.
6.In a bar shaker add your tequila, orange juice, margarita mix, and triple sec shake to combine.
7.Pour your mix into your glasses and top with cranberry juice.

Hi ladies- midweek pop in to say hi! Busy as Cami says, but am keeping up with my social schedule. I have a dinner tomorrow night, shop and stroll Friday night and jazz concert on Sunday I will do with friends. Tis the season to be jolly?
Got my ACA stuff going for 2019. i talked to the insurance company on Monday ayem and found my BS is still in network, but the new cataract surgeon is not. The practice group is in network so maybe that provider is just new to their group. My apt with the eye surgeon is not until Feb so I will check again in Feb to see if she is in network and then will call them to get another doc if I need to. It takes months to get an apt with these specialists. I am sure many of you can relate. Got my tax stuff figured out with my accountant yesterday too. I am off to get a tune up on my Outback this morning. Busy, busy......
Cami- I hope things are better with Leslie. Is Joey doing okay? Does he love Xmas? That Dan is a good guy. Are you able to do any Xmas parties this year? How are you feeling friend?
LomLin- welcome to our thread. It is very frustrating/hurtful that no bothers to ask us how we are doing after everything we go through. I am a self employed consultant and kept my dx private. But even the small circle I told had some unbelievable behavior towards me. All I can tell you is that this stuff teaches you a lot about people (as well as yourself). People acted like I had the flu or something and was just "over it" and to get on with things. I let go of a few people along the way, limit my conversations with others around cancer. There is no way you can make people understand what you go through with a cancer dx, treatment and recovery. I did not feel well for a long time after treatment. I still get comments from people how I am "all done with it" and it just reinforces not everyone has empathy. But the way people act has more to do with them than anything to do with us. So that boss of yours may just not be an empathetic person. Take care of yourself friend.
BTW, I like vodka and tonics and they are one of my summer drinks. I am a fan of flavored vodka's and pear vodka is my fav.

Thanks Jazzy, Goldie, NM and everyone else for your support. It does get to me that people around me just act as if I had a cold or flu like you say. They don't get it, and they never will if they don't ask questions or show any concern. I had a relative ask me what they could do, all I said is just call me once in a while to see how I am doing, especially mentally, not one phone call. One guy in the office went off talking about one of his grade school teachers who had big boobs, not sure where he was going with that.
It is not a warm environment. My boss, female and I are the only women here. There are 5 guys, two of them barely shower, one smokes, so maybe that is why he sticks. One is a sales guy whose ego is so large I am surprised he fits through a door way, he goes by ask for forgiveness not permission. The other two are CRMs, one is a cry baby the other has his ego right behind the sales guy.
I tried Boodles Gin last night, kicked my butt! 90 proof vs 80 - Gordon's. I am looking for a real juniper berry taste. Gordon's has it, the Boodles was a bit different.

Lomlin- I have worked in science and technology my whole life and thus, have worked with ALOT of men. I am working on a contract right now with a male dominated consulting group (most of them are really nice guys too) but could never see myself telling anyone about anything personal here. Men are clueless.
I lost a brother in my 30s whom also died young and never told anybody at work about it, but had to for the bereavement time off when the time came. So they found out, I could not believe how awful they were to me but they were not nice people to begin with at that job. It was a hard thing to go through at the time, I have learned to just say "I have some things going on" and leave it there.
That guy making a comment about someone having big boobs is unbelievable. I have large breasts and people told me I probably was at higher risk for it given my size. Eye roll.
Anyways, what I found does help is to refocus around my own well being. What do I need to feel well each day? Good food, lots of rest, lower stress (if you can), and no stupid people if you can avoid them. Also, the ones who say "what can I do?" really do want to help. Having them check in with you or asking them to get you out once and awhile for lunch, etc. are all things that help.
It is really shocking how people act sometimes. i remember it well. Hugs sister.

Thanks jazzy, sorry you went through what you did at the office, I too now will just say I have something to take care of instead of details. Except when it takes so much time away you do have to fill out a FMLA report, so someone eventually knows. Like NM said keep drinking gin and tonics at the end of the day to celebrate your success in being the better person at work! I like that. Yeah, men are clueless.

LomLin- right, when there is FMLA going on things happen. Here are some other crazy stories about people I know going through cancer treatment and dealing with work:
My sister is a doc and kept her bc dx very private. She got a wig and saw patients a bit between chemo rounds. One of the techs asked her what was going on with her and grabbed the back of her hair. A clump of it came out. She looked at my sister and my sis said "do not ever touch me again."
Another friend told her boss about her cancer dx as she had to go on FMLA. The woman went and told the whole office. I said she should sue and she went through a process with HR about loosing any confidentiality about it. The woman apologized and said she was having a bad day. She is having a bad day? I told my friend I could never work for that person after that. But alas, the friend said she would finish out and retire there (I think soon now too?)
People really can suck sometimes!

Yeah Jazzy my boss told the office too, I thought there was some sort of Hippa thing. Not happy. I felt like it what up to me to say anything. But like your friend, I am close to retirement as well, however I am looking for a job, but at 64 with bc I don't know if anyone would hire me. When I did get around to saying anything about, they all said, I know. People suck.

Jazzy, sure sounds like you are super busy right now, so I know you will be ready for the trip to the hot springs! Anyone going with you? You are large breasted and got cancer, as for me I was flat as a pancake, but also had inverted nipples and I got it too. Case solved, size (in this case) doesn't matter! The hair that came out on your sister, was it hair from the wig, or did she not have the wig on? That is horrible!
Lin, funny about the peeps you work with. We have nick names for our neighbors and we do have one that stinks, and he will be at the party. Plus he smokes. So he reeks of that too. Some of the names are Poop Boy, Easy Peezy, The Old People, Itty Bitty, The Kids, Chew Tobacca, and Butch and Sundance. As for cancer, I think sometimes people just don't know how to act around people that have and had cancer. I tend to be the complete opposite of Jazzy. I tell everyone I have cancer and let them know if they ever have any questions, not to be afraid to ask. I also will approach others that I think may have or had cancer, if nothing else just to wish them well. I once approached a gal at the gas station that was bald and asked if she was in treatment for cancer. No, she had alopecia! When looking for a new job, you don't need to disclose the fact about cancer. I see you are on Tamoxafin, I thought they gave that to the younger ones that are not menopausal, and Arimidex for those that are.
Heading to the neighbors later, a couple hours early so I can help her get things set up, as I know how nice it is to have some help! Or, how horrible when you DON'T get any help.

Goldie, funny you should mention the Tamoxifen, I thought the same thing. I asked my oncologist about it, he put me on it because I have osteopenia, he says Tamoxifen helps with that.

Good morning friends- well this consulting group asked me to help with another project into 2019 but the kind of work I want to be doing so that is pretty good news. Their client asked for my help during a meeting this week, pretty nice huh? I can't wait to get past one of the other things they pulled me in to (a move project) but done with that in a few weeks. There is another testing event tomorrow night but told them I am not available to be on the phone with them. They don't need me there really, babysat something last Friday night and have another one next Saturday. I am not willing to be their 24/7 contract girl....
I have my biz dinner with the hospital client tonight and sort of glad my plate is full so we can keep it open and light and not about securing any new work. The last two times she asked me to come do work for her, I never could get a final confirmation on the approvals. I personally think she has lost her power in her position. But I need her for reference stuff, so we will enjoy a tasty meal and catch up. I have another call in the morning for other work in January and think 2019 is going to be a banner year for my business after some slower times. Santa is being very good to me and my consulting work this holiday season!
Goldie- people have weird ideas about this cancer stuff. One friend says I must have grown up in a place with environmental issues and got it that way (because my sister and I both got it the same time). Comments about weight. Comments about large breasts, etc. If you had only done colonics, the colon is the key to your best health.
Cancer taught me that people have their ideas about who gets it, how it should be treated and how to keep it from coming back. My response to people now is that I only discuss my health with my medical team and sister. And of course you guys but I rarely talk about this place either because well, I am all done with cancer so why am I on a bc on line support group? I wish people would spend less time judging and just listen.....The clump of hair story was from her very first chemo session and her going back to work after being out a couple weeks. The administration just told people she would be in and out for the course of the year for personal reasons. Well those medical types figured it out.
LomLin- you are correct that is an HIPAA violation. Most healthcare orgs have to be super careful about not releasing info to people about other's health. Employers seem less educated on it. There is no benefit to us to have these things shared by people. I am self employed and told a couple friends who I confided in and one of them told me pretty non-nonchalantly she had been talking about my health issues in a card group with people used to work with. It became clear to me that gossiping with the card group was more important than keeping my health issues private. We are no longer friends and really okay with it too. Problems show you who your friends really are?

Good Morning, Loungettes!Yesterday's last day of class was pretty cool. The students all brought in food and turned it into a party to celebrate the last day they would all be together as a group! Enough food to feed a small army, let alone 10 of them and 1 of me!I even got a box of chocolates as a thank you for "putting up with us" and "making it fun."I had bought a roast beef sandwich for lunch but ate lunch from the goodies and gave the sandwich to Sadie when I got home so even she could enjoy the party goodies!
Goldie--side conversations are students talking among themselves during class when I am talking or another student is talking to the group. They make it hard for other people to hear everything being said to the class. Have you heard about all the ruckus about the song "Baby It's Cold Outside"? And how it's being banned in some places?I LIKE the scenery!Oh boy, looks like the Claus's are getting up to some hanky panky!

LomLin--regarding job searching and bc--bc qualifies as a disability under the Americans With Disabilities Act. No need to mention it during interviews and application process unless directly asked if you have any disabilities (which is a violation of the ADA Act by itself), if you qualify and are hired the company is required to make accommodations, including time off for medical appointments. The age thing is harder to get around.

Hi All! Had plastics today and we are a go for reconstruction tomorrow. I'm scared to start up with the pain again but it must be done! Got my drains out today (I'm getting 4 new ones tomorrow though...bummer).
The best news of the day is my pathology report. Margins are clear, lymph node benign. No additional cancer surgery or radiation needed. My right breast was clear and my left breast has LCIS and DCIS in addition to the IDC that we already knew about...largest tumor size 1.7 cm. So, onward I go. Will not know about chemo until after they run the new tumor markers on the DCIS/LCIS. More waiting, but I'll be healing from Fake Boob Friday while I wait!

Wigging- your pocket tomorrow and hope all goes well. I know the procedure after procedure are wearing on us, but you won't have to have any rads (whew) or any more surgery and that is great news.
I had DCIS with my IDC and think sometimes that is the way it begins (but it does not always grow either). They are getting on top of the in-situ stuff earlier now too, my BFF had DCIS diagnosed last year and they took that out and she had rads. The earlier the stuff comes out the better on all fronts.
When you are ready for that next cocktail, we will be ready to cyber celebrate with you! Sending good vibes your way!

Sorry I've been absent the past few days--between shopping, appointments and cable-news addictions things have gotten away from me.
Saw the breast surgeon yesterday for my annual checkup. My regular BS was booked all the way out till April (I made this appt. in Sept.) for existing patients without new pathology, so I saw the newest BS, who specializes in oncoplastics. She said everything looks and feels fine and I can safely go another year if I want. I asked about a left reduction, and she said I am definitely a candidate if the asymmetry really bothers me ("Thelma" is half again as big as "Louise," who is pretty large herself). She suggested I wait till my next annual mammo in June to make sure all is well on both sides (she won't mess with Louise, who looks round and perky with a front-pointing nipple, as if she'd been the "healthy" one) and that I've gotten down to a weight I feel comfortable maintaining. (Lost 3 lbs. over the run of the Bar Show, what with exercise and fewer eating opportunities. Back in my size 16 jeans and Large/Chico's size 2 pants).
Had a minor setback today, though. Happy--my orange patch tabby perma-kitten (he's 11 but still thinks he's 11 weeks old)--was cuddling and nuzzling me as I sat on my recliner multitasking. He was purring and kissing, and I gave him some smooches; but all of a sudden he got over-excited and bit me on the cheek, immediately running away afterward. I washed the wounds with soap & water and then hand-sanitizer, applied direct pressure, and put some antibiotic ointment on them and then Band-Aids. Looked up "treating facial cat bite" and was shocked to learn it was a medical emergency because of the danger of infection. Called Bob, who said I'd better get looked at right away. So I walked over to the urgent care center, where they lavaged the wounds and told me to leave them open, not bandaged. They prescribed a combo of doxycycline and clindamycin (and insisted I double my fermented-foods intake as well as keeping up the 3 probiotics I normally take). I was able to put concealer on the red surrounding blotches and it looks okay. Will wash them twice a day and follow up on Sat. & Mon. Was flabbergasted when the P.A. told me that though "not all cat bites get infected," 90% do! Happy has been very sweet to me, but doesn't seem to understand why I don't want to nuzzle and cuddle with him tonight.

Sleigh Ride White Christmas Cocktail
Ingredients
- For the Optional Rim Garnish
- ½ cup coarse sparkling white sugar
- ½ ounce white crème de cacao, such as Marie Brizard®
- For the Cocktail
- Ice for cocktail shaker
- 2 ounces Godiva® white chocolate liqueur
- 1 ounce Cointreau® orange liqueur
- 1 ounce Frangelico® hazelnut liqueur
- 1 ounce white crème de cacao, such as Marie Brizard®
- 1½ ounces half-and-half cream or coconut milk
- 1 ounce fresh squeezed orange juice, from 1 navel orange
- For the Cocktail Garnishes
- Fresh whole cranberries, currant berries or pomegranate arils
- Fresh sprig of rosemary, sugared (see Tips below)
- Fresh orange peel curl
- Freshly grated whole nutmeg, optional
- Special Equipment
- Cocktail shaker with strainer
- Martini glass
- Rimmed shallow plates for rim garnish, optional
Directions
- Prepare the Rim Garnish: Place sparkling sugar into a rimmed shallow plate. Pour crème de cacao into a rimmed shallow plate. Dip rim of martini glass into the plate with the liqueur, then immediately dip into the plate with the sugar to evenly coat rim.
- Prepare the Cocktail: Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add remaining cocktail ingredients and shake vigorously, about 20 seconds. Strain into prepared martini glass and garnish as desired. Serve immediately.

Jazzy, I hope you aren't considering leaving BCO. You have lots to offer others, you always have such good advice. I have made so many friends here on BCO, and this subject is not something I carry over to FB and when gals leave, you lose touch. I see that with many that have left, specifically this thread. I hope ,you stay. On another note, I'm glad to hear that 2019 looks like it's going to be a good year for you, work wise. And good for you not allowing them to take advantage of you, just like they did to NM.

Kitty bites OK so far. Redness gone. No scars--they're not lacerations, but puncture wounds, with a little scab on each. They look like the remnants of old drained zits I haven't covered up. Only thing I'm worried about at this point is c.diff from the clindamycin, which I usually take only once before a dental procedure 3-4x a year, and I'm on it TID for 5 days. Gotta load up on Activia and kimchi. (Not simultaneously).

Hi friends- hope everyone is having a good weekend. Went to the shop and stroll friday night with friends and had fun (pics will get posted from my phone later). Today is a jazz Xmas concert.
But yesterday I got a real treat and was able to cuddle with two baby labs a friend was fostering. One yellow and one black and were going back today to have their neuter and spaying, to finish their shots (almost there) and then up for adoption. For those of you on FB, you probably saw the photos of them and will upload some pics too. I would have loved to have taken the female (a baby Sadie by the name of Judy) who stayed in my arms for quite some time yesterday.
Wigging- glad you are on the other side of the recon surgery. You keep feeling better friend and know the cocktails will be waiting for you when you are stronger and off the pain meds.

Cami, my twerk don't work.
Saw the doc at Urgent Care yesterday, who said the bite marks were healing so well (one's gone) that he was on the fence about my continuing the abx. But since it's only a 5-day 'scrip, and that the bacterium responsible for "cat scratch fever" (no, not Ted Nugent) is indeed a nasty one that can lead to systemic sepsis, better safe than sorry. I see the P.A. tomorrow, but the doc says that's optional. We may give amoxicillin a go next time I'm in danger of a potentially serious infection, but only with an Epi-Pen at the ready (and preferably in an in-patient setting). The micropapular rash on my inner forearm (looks like a heat rash) last time they did a trial of it is similar to the "amoxicillin rash" that even non-allergic pediatric patients sometimes get. They're somewhat skeptical, because my son's not allergic even though my sister is.
Dispensary had a "buy two, get one free" sale this weekend. Menu was limited, though, to the stuff on sale--so no RSO oil, tinctures, CBN capsules, honey, or transdermals till tomorrow. I'm pretty well-stocked now: got 3 "Mindy's Kitchen" (from famed Chi. pastry chef Mindy Segal) blue raspberry 25 mg. indica gummies, which I cut into eighths and take with CBD at bedtime for sleep; milk chocolate-covered dried blueberries w/5mg. ea. THC (probably sativa); 1:1 20 mg. mandarin and peach gummies; and one bottle each of 2.5mg. tabs of all-THC, 1:1, and 14:1 CBD:THC when I want to microdose w/o the sugar. I'm on the fence about sticking with that dispensary, because even though it's only one neighborhood to the south and everyone is so sweet (and there's always at least a metered parking space), it's much smaller with a smaller menu than the one in Evanston. (In IL, you can buy only from your registered dispensary, and can be registered at only one dispensary at a time). We're going to Vegas in Feb., where "anything goes" at the world's largest recreational dispensary--though bringing any of it home across state lines is verboten (and sometimes TSA looks for it). Technically, you can't carry pure CBD across state lines either--despite its being legal in all 50 states under state law, it's still technically Sched. I Federally; but there's still an understanding at the DOJ that state MMJ-permitholders will not be prosecuted for possession of medical CBD, CBN or THC products, at least within each state. FWIW, I had no problem flying into & out of Albany, NY with my regular store-bought CBD oil, gummies, & balm.
DODT yesterday was a 4pm cappuccino--no appetite for alcohol. Going to a friend's holiday open house in a little while, and he brews his own IPA...
