    Mornin' ladies,

Oh Kim thank u so much especally since u went step by step I won't take credit for all of ur wisdom, I'm just happy I can give them some good advice to help them. U know as I said before she was never a nice person and those kids really had a rough time with her, so there is a probl.em of no real deep love there, but she does have to be taken care of decently somewhere. Leslie saif why don't they give her Haldal to keep her uiet, bjut that seems extreme to me, but I really don't know. Thanks so much. AUSTRALIA, oh what a trip that willbe. Is that the bridge that's so high it's recockulous. This is so exciting to look forward to. And boy if I could take Sadie I would love it. She is so fun.

I woke up this morning really thinking it was Sat. Took a little bit to figure it was Friday. Slept crazy last night. Oh well. Jodie's not coming for my shower Saturday but Les said she would help me, like I said I just need extra balance getting in and out.

Marty's vertigo has started easing up and he's feeling relieved, I don't blame him, it was pretty bad. And hopefully we'll have a quiet weekend sans Joey, I hate that but it's good for him. 1/2 day Monday a nd he's done.

    Well as far as I can see the weather will be all right except lately it changes by the hour. So we'll see;

Happy Friday everyone and welcome to sunny Alberta here we are getting snowfall today!! In the mountain areas, about 1 1/2 hours west of me, there is blizzard like conditions going on, arghh, here in Innisfail it is dark, dreary and rainy, though we really, really need the rain.Take the good with the not so good indeed!

NM - that is great information for cami! I am glad your weather indicates a nice outdoorsy type of weekend for you and Sadie to enjoy, maybe get some yard sales under your belt...

cami - I do hope everyone starts feeling better, so very wearing on you and them for sure, hopefully tomorrow when it is Saturday, you can chill and enjoy for real ;)

I am participating in a Garage Sale at our Seniors Center today at noon, but dont seem to have any energy going on, so hopefully it comes in soon so I can get moving. Have a great weekend everyone. Cheers!

Hello loungettes, I'M HOME! Only responding to a few. I have read everything and all, for the most part, looks like everyone is doing well. We had an awesome time camping with friends that met up with us there and then the friends that we know there. So much fun and laffing. DH really needed it. The friends we know there, well the husband Mike, likes to take pictures and has a good camera. They came by one morning and I was still in my PJ's, he had me post with Castle Rock in the distance, and even picked me some flowers. Oh my, did I feel silly! My phone got left in the truck, so I'll post the picture later. Took a gorgeous drive out to Gateway CO and saw a bear on the way back, a first for me.

Cami, replying to previous posts, you mentioned camping and that you preferred hotel, I can say the my DH prefers that too. Glamping! Sorry to hear there is so much drama going on with the passing of your brother.

Jazzy, glad to hear your eye is healing up. Again, I'm so glad it was just a wart.

Janky, ha ha! I see you perfer glamping as well.

NM, you make your own bug repellent? How so? OMG, that is just too funny about Sadie getting all the canned goods out, wanting her bowl filled. What a smart puppy!

Happy Saturday! Had a great time at the beach, then back to reality. The Neulasta med really hit me this time. My legs are very sore and makes walking difficult. Did have the PET scan yesterday. Will wait until Tuesday for results. Oncologist did a blood test for a tumor marker, CA12-3. Normal is 30 and mine was 41. Not sure what that means, but will ask when I meet with him on Tuesday.

Been raining here. We need it, but not inches in an hour. Will try to do some easy yard clean up this AM before the next round of showers. My helper is not coming due to the rain. Maybe tomorrow...

    Have a great weekend

    Mornin' ladies,

WOW Lori is back, I miss u so much but so glad to hear u had a great time LOLing that is the best thing u can do. So r u around here for a while now or going off somewhere else.

Now I'm missing Jazzy, she always perks thing up too.

JC u sound a little over tired. which is tough to take. I wish I had some good advice for u, but gardening is a great thing to do <from what I hear> My DD's love it so I know it must be satisfying, but this yr. Leslie hasn't done anything.

Kim u have time to do ur thing WITH SADIE I hope this weekend, whatever u do u'd better count on /sadie to tag along. I tell these stories and everyone wants to meet Sadie hahaha.

Has anyone heard from SusyQ, I think of her often. I talk to dara and she's doing kind of OK. Stupid threads coming out of her hole. The worst thing I had ever seem, except now I've seen it on Leslie, disgusting.

Mu puter skills for work are so lacking, I'm trying so hard. I get some of it no problem but I don't see where it's saved, but Matt in the office has seen it....I just don't think I'm saving all of the calls. It';s so frustrating to me cuz really I used to catch on easily now my brain just doesn't hold any info.

Well Joey left last night he already texted me a beautiful pic. of downtown from his room. Chicago does have a beautiful skyline and living here I forget.

    OK great weekend for everyone.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! Sadie and I had a lovely sleep in this ayem. It's a beautiful day here today, going to putter around outside this weekend. So nice to see the sun shining! Sadie has been out on the deck sunbathing. She comes in once in a while to rub her warm side on me.I've got to go out and join her soon!

Cammy Cat--Love the Dancing Kitties! It's really hard to get someone on Haldol these days. l. Something like Haldol can't be used to keep someone quiet, they have to have a diagnosis of psychosis and be under the treatment of a psychiatrist. In the past Haldol and other drugs have been misused to keep people quiet and make it easier to take care of them, so now there are rules and regulations to prevent that from happening, but makes it harder to take care of someone with a real problem. It seems so useless to me to have kids go to school for half a day on a Monday as the last day of the school year. I know schools have to have a certain number of days, but that just seems foolish! Glad to hear Marty's vertigo is easing up. That can't be fun.

Janky--talk about a late application of poor man's fertilizer! That's what we call late snows around here. This really is late in the season for blizzard conditions.Good luck with the garage sale!

Welcome Home, Goldie!! Sounds like you had a great trip, that is wonderful! Yes, I make bug repellent.I use witch hazel as a base, put a cup in a small spray bottle, add Tea Tree, Geranium, Lemon Eucalyptus, Lemon, Orange, Peppermint essential oils for bug and tick repelling, and then any other oils I want to make it smell good.Shake it up and spray it on me and Sadie and it works well! Not perfectly, maybe, but good enough to work outside and not get eaten by skeeters. Making sun block is even easier.I just add zinc oxide to any lotion (20% zinc oxide/80% lotion by weight makes about SPF 20 sun block), add a little carrot seed oil and red raspberry seed oil for a bit of additional protection, then add essential oils to make a fragrance I like (or omit if the lotion already is scented).Last year I made a batch of sunscreen and scented it with the bug repellent oils and made a reasonably decent smelling sunblock/bug repellent combo. Yes, it leaves a bit of the white color on my skin, but better that than imitating a fully cooked lobstah!

Librarian--sorry to hear the Neulasta is making you sore and achy. That cannot be any fun. Have you had any tumor markers drawn before to compare the 41 to? Do you know if it's going up or down or holding steady?

Cammy--the weekend will certainly be with Sadie, no matter what I end up doing! It must be frustrating to not catch on to new stuff as quickly as you used, but think how much you ARE getting! Not bad for someone born and raised before the computer age!I miss seeing Dara on her. Hope she's doing well.

    Great pics, Goldie!

    Afternoon, Jazzy!

Goldie - Loved the pictures! My son spent time in Tucson and went camping a lot. He also visited the national parks in Arizona and Utah on his way home. He really loves the scenery in the western deserts. I would love to visit there myself! Never been much of a camper, but would enjoy seeing the sights.

Camilegal - My back hurt some today as well as my legs. I walked three miles for exercise, then the woman came to trim my shrubbery. I worked outside “helping” her by dragging the clippings to the street. I am now worn out! But I cooked dinner and am enjoying a glassof Pinot Grigio.

Native - I had a discussion with my Oncologist about tumor markers. He is not in favor of them as it is an old technique and they can be misleading. I think this may be part of me wanting him to do something different with the treatment plan. I meet with him on Tuesday and have, as always, more questions!

Poured rain this afternoon. Tomorrow is supposed to be another stormy afternoon. I will probably take it pretty easy, but have to do a grocery run. Take care everyone!

Just checking in briefly here before I get up early and drive to Morris tomorrow to teach 2 workshops at a dulcimer festival...provided it doesn't get rained out again. I feel lousy (had a dizzy spell Mon. night, still fighting a viral sinus & inner ear infection and monster reflux--primary made me give up my PPI for Pepcid & Tums) but too late to cancel (besides, I was hired when another instructor got sick). Was so nervous yesterday I had a few extra systoles in my single-lead EKG. Bob says not a reason to go to the ER, but I have a bariatric consult at N.Shore (part of the cardio dept.) Mon., so maybe they'll do a 12-lead after the intake interview.

Went to the Cubs game yesterday, which was great...except after only 2 sips of water my esophagus felt like Mt. Vesuvius. Had to suck on Tums (can't chew 'em with Invisaligns in) as the hot dog & ice cream vendors passed me by. Went to late lunch after--only thing on the menu I could eat was a shrimp cocktail, hold the sauce; and my DOTD was flattened ginger ale through a straw. (My own silicone straw, as plastic straws are now illegal in Chi. and paper ones fall apart). Dinner was 2% milk, applesauce & 2 plain Italian cookies (not biscotti). Waited 3 hrs till bedtime, slept on 3 pillows, still woke up with GERD. Sigh.

Managed to hold down some oatmeal & half a cup of coffee this a.m., but from now on my only quaff is water (even seltzer might be irritating due to carbonation). Bob says my PPI (Dexilant) is necessary to keep erosions away and prevent esophageal cancer; but primary saw the same research article as I about long-term PPIs raising the risk of fatal heart attack, stomach cancer and kidney failure. (All in all, we all gotta go sometime--and I'd prefer a swift heart attack to a lingering esophageal cancer death. I lost an aunt to it, and I know only one long-term survivor).

Annual screening mammo Tues., and get aligners # 5,6,&7 at the orthodontist Wed. (hopefully, those will be all I need before switching to a retainer).

NM, I hope you were able to get out in the sunshine and enjoy with Ms. Sadie. You have had some horrible weather. You probably thought summer would never arrive, let alone spring.

Cami, glad you are able to keep in touch with Dara, sorry to hear she is struggling. I see Les and Marty were able to go out and have a date night, good for them!

JCS, we have hotels too! I love to go camping, but it's not in a tent. We have a kitchen, a grill, bathroom with shower, beds, couches that open into beds, etc. So not really all that bad. I insisted with my onc that we do TM's, which is how we found my stage IV, as I had no symptoms. It's only blood work, so I don't understand why they don't do it. This is YOUR body, he works for YOU. I say if you want TM's, then insist on it!

Sandy, sorry you are going through so much, my gosh. Wishing you some good health.

Worked outside a bit yesterday, until it got too hot, got up to 90! And I have a have a ton to do inside. Putting stuff away from camping and lots of cleaning.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Another beautiful day shaping up here. Sadie's already out on the deck sun bathing. She wanted to get up and get out into the sun at 5:30 ayem! I did convince her to let me sleep in until 6:30.Gotta love the pooch who has the priorities straight!

Librarian--Tumor markers are known to be a bit dicey to interpret, especially if they weren't tested before treatment started. Please keep in mind that the Onc works for YOU, not the other way around. The Onc's job is to give you information about treatments available, pros and cons of each, possible outcomes and possible complications so that YOU make an informed choice about what treatment you want. If you want something specific done, that is what should be done, unless it is clearly dangerous. If the Onc doesn't agree with YOUR plan, the Onc needs to either shut up and do it anyway, or refer you to an Onc who will. Out of curiosity, if the Onc doesn't favor them, why did he/she order them to be done?Sounds like you are keeping pretty busy despite being sore--Good for you!

Chi--I'm trying to stay off my PPI (prilosec) as it was causing diarrhea, but I'm about ready to live with the diarrhea if that's what it takes to stop the heartburn, especially at night. I've been on a PPI since 1995, so any damage is probably done already. And my father and his father died of stomach cancer. I'm not crazy about the idea of kidney failure, but a quick heart attack is a good way to leave this world, in my opinion.

Goldie--I did get out in the sun some yesterday, going to do so again today, too! Always a ton to do, isn't there?

Fortunately, she didn't go far and decided to get into the car pretty easily. She and I both slept pretty well last night.

Goldie--I have not tried Zypan.I will definitely look into it.Anything is worth a try at this point!

NM, the Zypan doesn't work for everyone. We have a friend who I guess has worse heartburn than what DH had, and it it didn't touch his.

Was really tired yesterday, for some reason, laid down and I did fall asleep, several times, as I kept waking up, darn brain! I thought I had only slept about 10 minutes each time, but it must have been more cuz I was in bed for an hour and a half and then went to bed at 5! Got my bathrooms cleaned, gosh I hate that job! Toilets, sinks, counters, rugs and floor. Also a couple loads of wash and finished putting stuff away from camping.

Good Morning! My son and his wife leave tomorrow for Peru. They want to visit Machu Pichu before it is closed to the public. We will get to babysit the granddog for 10 days. She is a sweet older dog that gets along well with my cats. She does require walks so that will change my schedule somewhat. I also have some social/fun things planned this week. If it ever stops raining 🤪 I will get back to the yardwork. Still kinda sore today. I just cannot sit around anymore! I hope everyone has a good week and plenty to look forward to

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! Boy it was one BEAUTIFUL day yesterday. Temps hit the 80s, 83 is the official high. Warm breeze. Sunshine. I got to take one resident out into the garden for a while and boy was that nice. Getting some rain today, of course. Sigh. Getting lots done at work, though, and that's a good thing. Got to get Silly Sadie's shots up to date so I can take her to work with me occasionally.

Goldie--nothing works for everyone, but you don't know until you try. I ordered some Zypan yesterday, will try it when it's delivered and let you know.Glad you could nap while you were tired yesterday, that will help your body throw off the sniffles!Make sure to take care ofyourself! How kind of your friend to share the virus!

Librarian--you must be sad to see your son and DIL leaving, but it will be fun babysitting the granddoggy! Being sore is not fun.

Morning, Illi!Glad you like the cocktail!

Machu Pichu Cocktail (Photo: Walter Coraza Morveli)

    Machu Picchu Cocktail

    INGREDIENTS

    1 oz. grenadine syrup

    5 cubes of ice

    3 oz. orange juice

1 dash green creme de menthe

1 1/2 oz. of acholado pisco

    1 maraschino cherry

    PREPARATION

Making this cocktail is not easy because we have to create the three layers, the three flavors. If you make an error the drink is ruined and so much care must be exercised to guarantee the creation of three distinct layers and flavors. For the satisfaction of whoever drinks the cocktail we must make it in the proper manner.

First we and grenadine syrup to a fluted glass with three or four ice cubes. Then we pour in three ounces of orange juice. After this we prepare separately the creme de menthe and pisco. We slowly add this on top of the other layers with a bar spoon so that the creme de menthe does not settle and ruin the beverage.

    Mornin; ladies,

Lori I knew u were sick, 102 is high now wonder u were so sleepy and yet u kept on going STOP IT. Give ur body a chance to heal and yes u do have to do nothing for a few days. Why do u make me yell at u all th time.. Glad ur seeing a Dr. today.

JC wow what a walk good for u and the the work. know wonder why u where sore and hurt tho. Usually when ur legs hurt, it's the ack discs or muscles that are really sore I do remember when my Onc. would talk to me about different approaches well I must have always picked what she wanted cuz she'd always hugged me and said she was so glad I said that. But I really didn't know any difference. And out of one of ur paragraphs the only thing that stood out was Pino grigio <sp> sunded good.o

Good going Jazzy, thanks for poopin in and sharing.

Kim our dog is crazy, Marty took her for a ride windows half up, she saw a dog and jumped right out and the car was going about 30 mph. Thank God he didn't get hurt I yelled at her telling how smart Sadie is, he just put his head down and probably thought shut up. I always brag about Sadie cu she's so smart and funny, ours is just a goofball.

Wow Sandy r u driving to Morris, I mean u had that dizzy spell so I hope ur not. U've really been having a crazzy time lately.. I hope u start getting a handle on everything so u feel better. But it doesn't stop u for sure.

JC ur son is leaving today <I think> safe travels for him and it sounds exciting, especially cuz u have his furbaby. As much as u walk that shouldn't be a big problem. <I hope>

Well Joey read my puter instructions and we did a test costomer and it worked great. Then later he wasn't home and I did one myself and screwed it up. I don't know why I can't get this. Joey's no genius but he read the instructions not knowing a thing about this and just knew how to do it and I really thought I finally got it. It's like a block in my head. And I don't know why. Dan has to come over again, he acts fine but I know he can't be.I always thought I was reasonably intelligent with an IQ of 140, now I think mine dropped to a hover of about 95 and all I am is reasonable sometimes.

I get a shower today, can't wait, well at least I don't play football in the mud but I still need one. I actually do pretty good now I can stand for a minute or so with a handle, then sit back down, whereas I couldn't stand at all and all anyone has to do now is hold my hand the other hand is on my cane, it's so much easier for anyone who helps me now.But I still have to take their time, but it doesn't take as long now and I can wash my own hair and rinse it myself. LOL I guess I'm bragging.

Oh Illi I thought u'd poop in to talk about our drinks, they're sounding better everyday.

Ok I hope I learn more today, but at least I'll be clean.

    LUBS U ALL

    Happy Tuesday everyone!

Went to the Oncologist to get the results of my PET scan. All he could see is scar tissue both in the breast and the lung. Great news! He will take my case to the tumor board to see how they feel about a lumpectomy and radiation to the lung. He said that between my research and my fantastic response to the chemo, he would advocate for the treatments. He is still reluctant to say it might result in a cure, but it would lessen the tumor burden and mean a lower dose of chemo.

Tonight my younger son is coming for dinner. I will probably celebrate with some Prosecco. We do walk the dog, but it has been raining so much she does not enjoy it. We are starting the humid days so walking has to happen early. Even late at night the humidity can be 95% so sweating is bad. I enjoy being outdoors, but do not enjoy sweating!

Love the cat picture! Goldie, get well soon. Summer colds are the worse. Take care everyone!

Cami, I AM sick, no doctor. I was supposed to go for labs today and see my onc on Thursday. Well I canceled both until I feel better. Then while shaking my thermomter down, it hit my knee and broke. I can't find the other piece and I know the mercury leaked out. I've been in bed for 2 and 1/2 days, now I'm scared I can get pneumonia! NM....can I?

JCS, I would much rather have a cold. Enjoy the time with your son and that cocktail. Congrats on the good scan, it's what we all want!

Feel better Lori - I hope I wasn't rude with my comment on fb to call your oncologist. I didn't mean to be. Reason I said that is when I was getting chemo, my oncologist made me carry around and Rx for an anti.biotic that if I ran a fever at 101 or more to start the antibiotic. I know you situation is way different. But hugs to you my friend and I hope you are well soon

No Karen, not at all. We are here for each other and to only help. Actually when I did call the onc's office it was just the gal at the desk that said, well lets just wait and you call back when you are feeling better to reschedule. She didn't say, well let me check with the Dr. and I'll call you back.

Well, I can't take it anymore, I'm going to the hospital this morning.
