well dammit--just dammit!!   Jocks brought me so many MLs that I lost my long, most eloquent post......I had neighbor's houses and boonies story for Lori;  Leaky ceiling woes to commiserate with Dee; first Tarantula we've seen on our deck when kids were here;  hair cut story for Hunky--think with the right gel I can spike my new doo but won't be as colorful!!  Wishes that Kathy's dad is feeling better; and telling KitCat about meeting some of the posters on this thread at a LAS get together several years ago and what a wonderful fun experience that was.........and wondering if CAZ was still zoned out at her cabin!!!

Our casino trip was fun (it's always fun for me!!).   We lost our butts, as usual, but did get dinner comped--which was a first for us at an Indian casino!!    Tried to make the most of the day as it will be some time before we'll have a chance to go again.  We had to leave earlier than planned from casino (grrrrr) but hubby got a phone call that it was starting to storm bad at home and he was worried about the dog.   Of course, by the time we got home, the worst of the storm had passed through but all the deck furniture was blown around; cushions all sopped; and a couple of pretty good-sized tree limbs down in the yard.   Is there some way we could collectively blow all our individual dark clouds away!!!  And it has rained, rained, raining still!

Jocks!  more ML, sweetheart, then I'm heading out to the pool to see who's out there having fun!!

big hugggssss to all and much love!!!

Welcome home Junie.....I am just sorry it was to so much chaos! I sometimes just find it so amazing how some parts of the country just get drenched, and other like us, barely get a few inches all year. It has be more dry than usual for us this year. Hope the tree limbs were small ones and didn't hurt anything!

KitCat, we don't need to be calling 911, but we could send the fire crew out. They help out with those kinds of emergencies, right? Next time have Pants or Jocks open it for you. Glad you are able to meet up with the girls, sounds like everyone is stoked!

Heading down to Phx this morning. Business stuff and doctor appt, to go over CT Scan and discuss what's next. I hate these times and the anticipation of what is to come. But going to keep it on the back burner until I get in there! Will check in when I can.

Cheering to "no fears" this morning,

    Lori

Hi gals, Just a quick check-in. Sorry to hear of all the mishaps.....but seems like everyone is keeping their humor about it...that helps soooo much! My dad is still sick...worries me....he has stayed in his room almost all the time here in Melbourne...but we are supposed to fly in the am to Adelaide. Guess we really did too much walking, etc. in Sydney. Had a nice bottle of Australian Reisling last night. Tonight they have happy hour in the hotel...wonder if their house wines will be good? Well, heading out to look for some broth, etc....we have some meds here...hope he won't need to see a dr. Thanks for all the concern! I miss you all....will be nice to be back home and able to read back on all the posts I have missed (guess I'll need a few hrs for that!). Hope you are having a "Thunderous Thursday" tonight...it is Fri am here. Haven't seen any of those cute boys from down under though.

    Cheerio,

    Kathy

Lori, keeping my fingers crossed for you today.  We all know how stressful it is.  Hope your appt. went well and you have your fingers wrapped around your drink of choice by now.  Kathy, I am so sorry your dad is still under the weather.  It is so hard when a parent is ill and out of their environment.  My mom will be 94 in October.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer at 91 and had a uni mastectomy and SNB.  Her nodes were clear and she is still alive and driving.  I actually couldn't believe her surgeon put her under general anesthesia at that age.  She came through it fine.  No chemo or radiation though...thought that would be too hard on her.  Daughter, me, got the short straw on the breast cancer deal.  I got the full meal deal, just not supersized yet.  I am so glad she is able to care for herself quite reasonably still.  Sorry, didn't mean to turn this into a geneology post.  Kitty, so neat that you will get to meet the TaTa sisters at your home stompin grounds.  Hope you all have a blast.  Glad you got through your fill ok. Junie, hope your dog is doing better with the seizures.  I hate the falling branches and storms too...been there, done that.  Pull up a chair and lets have a beer.  Dee...hugs to you!  CAZ, Jaybird, Casino Girl...hope you are all doing well.

Lori--hoping to hear good news from you soon.  The follow-up crap is so stressful, but necessary--I'll never get used to it!  Thanks for sharing the pics of your house--it looks so nice and restful--my house is so crap-cluttered--gotta get busy one of these days!!!   Kathy, hope dad is feeling better tomorrow (or is it today for you?)  I think it is wonderful to hear that some of you have parents living into their 90's, still being active and functioning well.

Part of the post I lost verified that I do live in Arkansas--very NW part.   A few miles north from the fun, funky resort town of Eureka Springs.   Can drive our golf cart to the club house to play golf.  Car ride is 10 minutes to Table Rock Lake where we have a boat at the marina.  We're barely an hour drive from Branson......getting the idea why we have so much company??!!!   Walk out our front door and drive down our street--looks like a normal surburb......walk out the back door and you're in another country.  Although we have neighbors close on each side, we can't see their houses from our deck.   There is nothing behind us for 40 miles--that's as far as we can see.   A few yard lights at night scattered through the hills.   In the winter, we can see a couple of houses on the next ridge over from us     Many mornings, the valleys behind us are filled with fog/mist--it is like like looking at snow-covered mountains.   Several times during the year, when the sun rises in just the right place, it tints the fog in the hills a deep pink--like looking at a world filled with cotton candy.   Hubby always wakes me up early to come see--it is spectacular but have never been able to capture a picture of it that does it justice.   Some day....

...enough blabbing about our little slice of paradise--grabbing my bucket of iced MLs from Jocks and heading out to the pool.   One quick stop in the casino to play my favorite penny slot--LOL, "penny slots"--what a hoot!!  If you play max bet on some of them (and you gotta play max bet to ever win big) you're sometimes playing $1.00 to $3.00+ a spin !!!!

...it is STILL raining!!--think we are up to 6" in last 48 hours......would love to send some of it to those who need it.    Last time we had this much rain in such a brief time, it was the aftermath of a hurricane......lord knows what lies ahead for this winter....

beer's cold, had fun at our casino--heading out to the pool-------OMG!!  Thought I saw Hunky with her spike hair on fire and the fireman wrestling her down and rolling her to put the fire out...nope--blurred vision--Hunky's in pool and the flames from the pit are backlighting her...but, fireman is hot and deciding to take a quick dip.

Big hugs and chug-a-lugs to all!!!!

I went out for drinks for the first time since my BMX. So excited! Met up with a friend and ended up seeing 3 more friends! I am wearing a blazer to conceal my big pancakes - in our 100 degree Vegas weather - aghhh! So, happy hour was awesome! $5 glasses of wine - woo hoo!

Hunky, I can't believe your mom is 94 and survived bc at 91. That's truly amazing!!!

Off to sleep! Hope I get lots of rest!!

Hi gals! I have written 2 msgs and they keep disappearing. Auwe! I will try again. Anyway, I am sorry for all the mishaps, but so glad you all have your sense of humor intact. Dee, I hope things have improved! Junie, I hope your doggie is doing better...I know how hard that must be.We miss our doggies so much. Kitty, a big welcome to you, I am sorry I did not have time to welcome you earlier. You have come to a great place....all great gals here, and wonderful tattie tenders! And yes, my avatar is Maverick; we rescued him and his sister (or could be his mom as she has had pups). They are so precious. He is half border collie and half english springer spaniel. Molly is half english springer spaniel and half cocker spaniel. They are both soooo sweet. We just had happy hour here...only $2 for beer, wine, champange....of course I had a few glasses of champagne, and the last pupus they passed around were prawn skewers...yummy! Usually it is quite $$$ here, so those prices were great. My dad thinks he is better, so I hope so. He is still staying in his room. Hope he will be ok to fly to Adelaide tomorrow. Hunky, soooo great about your mom being 94 and surviving bc and doing so well. YAY!!! Ok, another new phrase..."no worries" is what they say for "no problem". So....no worries gals! I miss you all and so glad I can check in on everyone every once in a while. Will take awhile to catch up on all the posts, after I get home.

    Bottoms Up Mates,

Grrrrrr.......I too lost my post. Gawd I hate when that happens! And it wasn't short either. Damn it!

Ok, I am fine, all is good! They just saw some arthritis in my back that has formed two herniated discs that I have. So I am good to go for another 3 months and we will do mamo then.

Hunky, that is amazing about your mom, altho sad to have to endure cancer at that age. But my goodness, to blessed to have even lived to that age, amazing! And you can talk geneology all you want!

Kathy, I hope pops is doing much better and able to make that flight! Thanks again for checking in with us.

Junie, your description of the pink fog and mist sounds breath taking. You did a fine job on that one!

I am sorry to hear about the prices you are all paying for Happy Hour. Here it is "FREE". I am sitting here waiting on Darrell's daughter (hate to call her my step daughter) so we can go down for "FREE" cooked to order breakfast. I think I'll have an omlette with ham, shrooms, spinach and cheese, thank you! And then back to "FREE" Happy Hour this evening!

    Junie, I love the "Hugs & Chug-a-Lugs"

    Lori

(copying and pasting this in word before I submit, in case I lose it again. And of course this version is shorter, as I need to go work on my hair!)

Thanks for all of your support, I truly appreciate it!

Hey hunky, I have heard of ribs getting cracked with the expanders, so if you are having alot of pain have it checked out. I have alot of pain with mine too, but it's a also a heavy heard to breath feeling, like I am being squeezed.

Lori, so glad you had good results.

    Cheers to cold beers!

OMG - I hope my expanders don't crack any ribs! That is scary!

I had a terrible day at work. I can't stand back stabbers! Arggghhh!! So, I came home and drank the rest of my wine! Any excuse to drink is good!

My friend is coming out here and will be here in the morning. My house is not completely clean. Sure wish I could have a maid. Anyway, I've got to run to the store in the AM and get snacks and more wine! LOL!

Wahine, your dog is so cute! If I ever figure out how to post pics, I'll have to put one up of mine!

Sounds like everyone had a fun time at happy hour with cheap or free drinks! Gotta live that!!!

Lori-glad to hear all is well.  Sorry I missed your trip through the valley again.  We're traveling a bunch for the next month, but after that you have my e-mail.

Hunky-If you hurt beyond 48 hr after a fill, I would worry about a rib or other complication.  All my grandparents were gone by the time I was 5.  My Dad passed away at 65 from skin cancer.  I'm headed home to El Paso to help my Mom after foot surgery that will lay her up for 6 wks.  Your genetics are astounding.  Cheers to you.

Kathy-sending hopeful healing feelings toward your Dad.  It is bad enough being sick in the comfort of your own home.

Kittycat-Get Down On It sister!!  Glad you're feeling well enough to glow with friends.

I've gotta run, but cheers to the rest.  I'll be back when I can.

    Hi girls,

Still in Phx. Sitting here having a cappachino that the cappachino fairy left me! We found some some old roof tin at the auction, Darrell has left to go to that. I hope we get it. We'll use it in the Old West Town. I am gonna head out for a little shopping.

Hunky, I know nothing about expanders, but sure hope you don't have any cracked ribs. Keep us posted on that.

KitCat, pay no attention to those back stabbers and have fun with your friend......and drink MORE wine!

Hugs for everyone except Hunky, kiss on the cheek for you!

Thanks all for the expando info.  After visiting with Dr. Google, I see that the expander can cause some terrible pain with the top of your ribs.  I feel like its just sore to the touch like a bruise and causes a dull pain throughout the day.  I don't think I am going to call unless the pain increases to the point where I don't want to get up and walk. I only have three weeks to go until exchange and stage 2 revision surgery.  I do have some pain killers to settle it down until then.  I know I get a little wacky on the drugs but hopefully you can endure my humor while I am on them.  Lori, did you get your tin roof material?  CAZ, so wonderful to hear from you.  Hope your mom heals rapidly from the foot surgery.  So nice to have a good daughter like yourself there to help.   Wahine, hope your dad is doing better also and was able to make the Adelaide flight!  I miss you here, and want you to get home.  Kitty, no worries about the triple post.  We don't think you are crazy.  Just fun!  Sounds like the pink square thing is going to happen for all the ta ta sisters.  Nice that you hooked them up with that.  Junie....loved your description of your homestead backdrop.  It does sound beautiful.  Now I know why you have all the company.  My broom doesn't handle long flights, so you won't have to worry about me showing up!  LOL.  We will just have to settle for the lounge here for drinks. I so love your company!!   Dee, hope you show up and can share a poem or two!  We need a little oomph here.  I still am waiting on pics from Jaybird for Avery's birthday.  I am going to go out and order just a few light beers from my boys!  Hope a few of you pop in.  Seems like everyone is pretty busy.  I cooked dinner tonight...or I mean called it in, and went and picked it up.  Out to pool area....join me if ya can!  HunkyD

    Hey kids,

Just swooping in for a quick drink.  Mom's doing okay but is bed bound.  At least that way she won't step in the white wine I spilled on her living room rug.  I hadn't even taken a drink yet.  I think this can remain our little secret.  I think emptying her potty bowl makes up for it.  We're battling the percocet/vicadin constipation.  She foisted a lot of suppositories on us when we were kids.  It might just be payback time.  I had to delete 3000+ e-mails and defragment the hard drive before I could connect to the board in a timely manner.  You know it's scary when I'm the most computer savvy in the house.

Wahine, please tell us your Dad is recovered.

    Have a good evening ladies.

CAZ, can't help but feel a twinge of pain for you talking about the constipation situation.  I swear, after two surgeries in less than two months....I have found that senocot-s is a good friend of mine.  I know its just supposed to be a short term fix, but I feel particularly cranky when I can't evacuate.  LOL!   Hell, those suppositories seem like such a rectal requiem, I can't even imagine using them.  I so hope you can get through this with your mom. Quite a lot of emails she had stored also....your mom must have been one to not to throw anything out.  Good on you for getting that taken care of.  Once again, I say you are a very wonderful daughter.  Thoughts for all of you gals dealing with sick parents.  A little spill of white wine is just a waste...no more than that.  Secret is safe with us!   Take care...HunkyD

Dropping in for more socializing!!   Tonight was our fish fry.   Smaller group than expected but it was really the perfect size--enough seats for everyone between deck and living room and kitchen.  Although rain was in the forecast, it was only cloudy and humid.   Not sure what all is left out on the deck--I suspect the raccoons will come foraging late tonight.  Wonder if they know how to open all the liquor bottles that are out there!!!

Know nothing about expander issues either.  Had lumpectomy, chemo, rads, Tamoxifen.   If a mast is ever needed in the future, I doubt I do any kind of reconstruction.  Hats off to those of you going through that phase just now!!

It will be good to see more of CAZ, but sorry your mom is in recuperating mode.  Great that you are able to be with her and help her out.   My only knowledge of El Paso is flying in there a couple times, renting a car and driving to Carlsbad to visit hubby's mom.

I'm only taking one beer with me out to the pool because I read and understood the poem dee posted!!!   Think I've had a lot of experience at translating "drunk"!!  LOL  (and, prolaby skeaping it!!!!)

    no hugggsss--just a big love all y'all......

have noticed complaints at a couple other threads last few days about lost posts; repeat posts...so maybe some behind the scenes bc.org maintenance going on.   I always assume that it is something stoooopid I've done, but maybe not always.

Here's another I thought was cute, and since it's Sunday kinda fitting: (well maybe not..lol)

    THE BEER PRAYER:

Our lager, Which art in barrels, Hallowed be thy drink, Thy will be drunk (I will be drunk) At home as in the tavern. Give us this day our foamy head, And forgive us our spillage, As we forgive those who spill against us. And lead us not into incarceration, But deliver us from hangovers, For thine is the beer, the bitter, and the lager.
