Cute, HunkyD.....just cute!!! Glad you thought of that...hey, whatever works! Sounds like we need the guys to make us a "Funky Monkey" drink for the occasion....

1 oz Mount Gay® Barbados rum
    1 oz creme de bananes
5/8 oz dark creme de cacao
    3 oz coconut milk
    1 banana
    coconuts

Blend with ice until smooth. Pour into a hurricane glass and garnish with coconut flakes.

Now THAT should help put you to sleep also....lol. Still haven't caught up on posts...sorry....but new upstairs a/c has gone out and haven't gotten our repair guy out here yet (he SHOULD replace the unit as its brand new!)....and I use the upstairs computer, so its been quite hot and that makes it hard to think (good excuse?)??? OR I may just still be brain dead...lol.

    ChEARS to Big Eared Monkeys!

    It's raining...it's pouring...

    That's really getting boring....

    It's lightning; quite frightening...

    Thunder's rumbling; I'm grumbling...

    Wind's blowing; I'm going...

    C  R  a  Z  Y....................

Jocks/Pants--please, please some cold ML soooooon...Lori--hope that ark is about finished; think we're going to need it.

Lori--just a little heads up about chemo curls and ocean air.......always, my hair frizzes up around salt water.  But, we were at a beach in Mexico when my chemo curls were about a year old--I could barely get a brush through my hair--I was a tangled, frizzed mess--but so happy to have hair--just wore a straw hat or doo-rag.....know that's not what you have in mind for your wedding, and don't know how your hair will react--just be prepared for gorgeous, uncontrollable curls.....gentle hugs....I am so excited for you--and it is going to be so beautiful and wonderful...

Sock Monkeys.......did not know anyone still made them or had them.   Both of my kids had them, made by their great-grandmother...wow--that memory goes back waaaaaay too many years.   They are still adorable and most useful in our current world.   I could be a Cox Cable ad--"and, what else don't you know?"   (sorry, probably all don't have cox ads on their tvs, but some of them are funny...)

I might have to ask Jocks for a Funky Monkey--wow--that sounds so yummy...getting one now and heading out to the pool.

We have so many fun cheers going on--to big ears, beers, etc...CHEERS to all of YOU...bottomsup...

    love, junie

Hey gals.  Sorry I haven't been around.  I've been keeping up with the drinking though.  I think I had the equivalent of a bottle of wine, while watching football last night!

Hunky, congrats on no more fills.  I can't wait until I get the spaceships out!!!  :)

Hunky, how cute. I am with Kathy....whatever works! And a drink to go along with him!

Junie, I can't get a brush through my hair now and we have no humidity to speak of! I am going with the thought that it is what it is. I am alive, I am getting married, IN HAWAII and I have hair. The worst that will happen, is I end up with funky pictures! I can live with that! And look at you with your poem, we have quite a group of poets here!

Kathy, you are roasting, Junie is going to float away and it snowed in CO. Can you beileive that???? Hope you get that AC fixed soon. Is Dad doing ok?

KitKat, glad to see you were able to stop by,  no need to apologize tho! Gheesh. Pull up a lounger and stay awhile. Pants, could you get Kitty some wine please.

Dee.......LMAO about the "strap ons"......and will leave it at that!

Looking forward to the day that we are free of spaceships, here at the HTL.

    Hi Gals,

I've been back from my Mom's for a few days now.  I had lots of catch up work to do.   I'm glad to see that Kathy is back.  I hope your Dad is doing well.

Jaybird, I love renovation (especially other people's).  I hope it's not too inconvenient.

Lori, wow the wedding is almost here.  It will be a blast.  I'm sure.  We're leaving on a two week road trip through CA and OR culminating in a visit to my brother for a few days.  I'm looking forward to it.

Hunky, the monkey is a hoot!  Now if it only held alcohol.  I hope you won't need him for long.   You and Dee will look back on this someday from over your abundant cleavage and barely remember the pain.

Hey Kitty, what's your football wine preference?

By the way, did someone say 88 degrees was hot?  We're down to a pleasant 104.  When I get back from the trip the 100 degree days should be gone (please, please, please).

If I don't stop in before the trip,  I'll have a beer for each of you at Russian River Brewing Co and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co on the way.

The rain finally stopped here today..yay! Flooding in the lower areas, but not as bad as Atlanta. Hope Dee and junie are dryed out now too! PAU HANA time...on my 2nd seagrams/diet coke...where is everyone??? Finally cooler upstairs...apparently a leak in the line, and not in the new a/c, so hopefully it is all fixed. Will catch up soon. BTW, loved your poem, junie...nice to have 2 poets in our group! And thanks for all the concern everyone; my dad is doing well. Still has a cough, but feeling much better. After staying in the hotel room for days (all of Melbourne and first day of Adelaide), he ventured out on my birthday...we all took the tram to the beach. WELL it was frigid cold and with gale winds off the ocean....we froze...so glad no one got pneumonia! Had an $$$ lunch over the water...but I was so worried about him getting worse. I think my parents are healthier than I am! They are coming here for a visit in about 3 wks, then we will meet up with his 94 yr old sister who will drive 5 hrs to Tunica to meet up with us!

CAZ....have fun on your trip.  Sounds like you have the breweries scouted out.  Are you going up I5?  I must reply to your comment on cleavage, I don't expect much....I think you are thinking of Dee.  I appreciate your sympathy with all of us going through this, and know you all probably get sick of hearing me complain.  I know we will get through it.  I wish I could take that darn monkey to work but he just doesn't hide real well under shirts.  Kitty, hope you don't get the expander pain.  A lot of women don't I guess.  Glad you were able to enjoy some vino during the game.  Is it next weekend you are meeting the Ta Ta girls at the Pink Square event?  Sounds like fun.  Junie, you are quite poetic, which reminds me, I hope you actually aren't going crazy with the rain....LMAO!  Bring yourself to the lounge girl.  Maybe I can put my little monkey to work over in a corner dancing and playing the cymbals for some coins, while we enjoy some beers.  Dee, strap on your 40oz coozie and get your self to the lounge.  That goes for you too Kathy, and Lori.  Lori, I don't really know how to tame the curls in hair.  I am sure you have researched it though. Jaybird...bet you enjoyed your time off.  Now it's back to work right?  Check in, and keep us posted on your new renovation.  Don't buy a cheap American Standard plebe toilet!! I know from experience.  Happy Tuesday to you all...tomorrow is my PS appointment and hospital pre-op so no work for me.  I always worry when they xray my lungs that there will be a big ol' spot in there.  Wish me luck!  XXOO HunkyD

Joining you all for Pau Hana.

I have a small dilema. Regarding finger/toe nails for the wedding. I do my own nails, always have them polished. Fuscia pink on both (always matching). Thought a french manicure would be nice for the wedding. So I bought the stuff to do it about a month ago, and did fingers and toes. Well a few days ago, Darrell says he has a request. He asked if I would do my nails like usual for the wedding that he didn't care for that "fancy" stuff! I am just worried how a somewhat bright pink polish is going to look in pictures, with both of us in white. Should I look for a soft pink? Take the stuff for french manicure, along with polish remover and just do the french for wedding? Or say "the hell with it" and wear bright pink? My hands are like my ears......BIG! ....and feet too! LOL

Hunky, sending GOBS of good luck your way, for the surgery and any tests you have to have prior, and of course wishing you a speedy recovery. I know you can't wait to put this behind you!

WE LEAVE 1 WEEK FROM TODAY~ OMG!

ChEARS to strap ons and funky monkies!

Lori, you are asking the wrong person about french manicures.  If I wear polish at all on my nails its very close to my own nail color. I have never had acrylic or strap on nails either!  LOL...I know you will be lovely in what ever you decide.  I would spring for a manicure at the hotel or local salon I guess, as I am horrible at doing my nails myself anyway.  Pau Hana....glad you joined in tonight.  Monkeys tails and painted nails!!!!! Hey Lori,

I would have to agree, why not do the splurge thing and get them done at a salon? Maybe instead of fuscia, go for a frosted pink? Whatever you decide it will be great:)

Hunky sending you all the best wishes in the world, you will NOT have a spot in there!

Kathy so glad you are home safe and getting re-combobulated.

Caz have a fun safe trip! Junie hope you've dried out some, and Kitty keep up the good work! lol

Cheers to no fears, monkey rears, ice cold beers and all of you dears!

    Hugs,

    Dee~

had to row a boat to get here--still raining--all day--am totally CRaZY by now.    Where's my ark????

will chime in on the nail issue.   I'd stick with what is familiar and "you".   I doubt your nails are going to glare out in any pics, and if they do, a bit of color might work well with all the white.  (Can't remember the appropriate acronym, so just my humble opinion......)

Big hugggssss to all--I'll be packing tomorrow for our little wedding trip (still would rather be going to Hawaii...) but will try to row back over tomorrow night to check up on you all--then will be MIa for 4 or 5 days.   I am horribly bad at addressing the correct words to the right person, so will just say...only good news and sunshine and warmer, cooler temps tomorrow, safe travels, and if I could, I'd gladly send this friggin' rain wherever it's needed........

    love all y'all

Hi all, junie remember it is Lori that is getting married on the water...hope you don't end up taking all that rain with you to your stepdau's wedding...don't think she would appreciate that...lol! Just have a sec, but wanted to ask HunkyD when your surgery is scheduled for? I know you have the preop tomorrow, but not sure of the surgery date. Hope all goes well tomorrow! Lori, as far as nails, you are safe either way.Hawaii is a very colorful place, so if you want bright nails, it won't look out of place. If you want lighter nails, I FINALLY found a good polish that stays on 10+ days! Worked well on my trip.It is Revlon Color Stay, and I have it in a pale pink...comes w/ a polish and a topcoat. I was surprised at how long it made my fingers and nails look, as it is very subtle. My mom kept commenting on how good it looked too.

Promise to catch up soon! Hi to all. Couldn't sleep till 5 am this morning, so I think I need to take something tonight to help things along. Have an appt tomorrow, and can't be home sleeping! I have never had this much trouble readjusting before....aaarrrrggghhh.

    Good night hugs to all,

    Kathy

Junie my dear quit hording all the rain.  If I we're you, I'd have a back pack with a mini bar for the wedding.  Best of luck.

Hunky, you are not complaining any more than the rest of us did through the tough patches.  We're here with a beverage in hand for you when you need to vent.

Lori, I doubt your nails are the thing people will focus on, but I guess marriage is about compromise.  I am extremely lucky that my husband and I are compatible to the smallest detail.  Whether you planned on it or not, you have a bunch of virtual bridesmaids here with you.  What color are we wearing?

Kathy, thanks for the update.  I'm glad your Dad is better.  My Mom is doing more than she should after surgery.

    My only poem:

And when you die or so they say your fate will be fulfilled

You'll be hung by your toes in a vat full of booze from the drinks that you have spilled

And if you survive, well it's Heaven they'll give

But if you don't, well Hell

    Here's to survivors

CAZ, LOVE your idea of virtual bridesmaids!!! Yeah Lori, what color(s) will we be wearing? Should we all be in different colors to represent a Hawaiian rainbow? And maybe Jocks and Pants can escort us down the aisle, along with their gorgeous guy friends? Boy that will be some reception!!!

Note: Did anyone see what happened to Sydney yesterday? Covered in 1/2" of red dust/dirt. The harbor bridge we walked over (in pic) had a gorgeous view THEN! My relative said the dirt covers everything even came INTO her home and garage and covered her car in the garage...yikes! FLights were diverted away from Sydney....only 1 runway open and that is a BUSY airport. Here is the link.... http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/09/23/2693955.htm?site=local Looks like we left just in time! The video "Sydney awakes to red dawn" on lower left side is good.

And yet another morning of laughs......what a great place!

Junie, sending the fire crew over to help oar that ark. You may have to go over and rescue Kathy, if she is still getting rain. Try to have a good time at the wedding, can't let that $30,000.00 go to waste!

Kathy, hope you get acclimated soon. I shouldn't have too much trouble with that, I there is just a 3 hour time difference between AZ & HI.

Dee, I don't know if I would actually have time to do nails at a salon, but will keep that in the back of my mind. I may shop for a lighter pink and just take polish and remover with me.

CAZ, of course I will have all of you there with me as bridesmaids, but not sure what everyone will think if I start talking to you guys....LOL! Hope your mom doesn't "over do" it and end up causing some kind of problem. And great poem too!

Hunky, hang in there girl! And know that we are all with you too! No acrylics or strap on nails here either!

Well, if I do go with the pink polish, maybe you girls could wear pink. Nothing to do with BC, I have always been a pinky. Love PINK, always have!

I may look like an a$$, with nails of pink, but raising my glass for another drink! No acrylics or strap ons for this bachlorette, just lots of fun with these friends that she'll never forget!

LMAO.....there is my poem! A poet I am NOT

    Ode to the Tissue expander:

The TE is a wonderous device

It makes your chest feel like it's in a vice

One or two, it really don't matter

I hope the percocet don't make me fatter

At the end we will be thrilled

because we don't have to get more filled

A B C or D, which size is best for me?

I guess we will just have to see

Little by little we slowly blossomed

The end result had better be AWESOME!

a quick hi--then bye.......Love the idea of cyberly being at Lori's wedding--can't wait.   Gave me the idea to just pack you all along with me, too.   I'll put you in my wedding clutch, appropriately next to my flask.....no doubt I WILL start talking to you.

Think I am all packed and ready to load up car in the morning after DH takes dog to "camp".   I suspect there will be some fussing from him....he nixed my wearing jeans/sweatshirt to the rehearsal in park and dinner at a BBQ place after--so, I pulled together some mix-match dressier things and have a choice of 4 or 5 different combos to wear, depending on the weather.   Of course, I need different shoes depending on which combo I go with, so have a bag with 4 pair of shoes, plus the ones I'll be wearing in the car.  Several purses, too, depending on which shoes...LOL--when he starts loading the car, he'll probably wish I was wearing a pair of sweats.

Kathy--glad you all missed that dust storm--a bad one can be horribly dangerous.

You all hold down the fort while I'm gone and keep my ML cold for me....

    big hugggssss to everyone.

junie, Glad you are taking us with you! Funny about all the accessories you have to take now, since DH nixed the jeans...lol. Now, if you feel like saying something catty to DH's ex, just remember we will be in your purse and will back you up totally!!! I hope everything really goes well, no rain for the wedding, and enough booze to tide you over. Hope your flask is big enough for the ceremony! And can't wait to see pics.

CAZ, very glad your mom is doing so well, but wish you could get her to slow down a bit till she is recovered fully. Nice to hear she is up and about though.

HunkyD, at least the preop is over with now! Enjoy the next few days,b4 surgery....maybe that means you can party late every night at HTL!!! Surgery is a b*tch, but we will all be here thinking of you,and helping you during your recovery. Unless you would rather have Pants help you....hmmmm that might not be a bad idea....lol.

The duststorm in OZ reminded me of tv shows showing the dust bowl back in the 30's(?) when it would blow so hard, and come into the homes, etc. Imagine it covering up cars that are in the closed garage....yikes...the relatives sure have lots of cleanup to do. And dangerous breathing levels too right now. Got out in the nick of time.

    Aloha All,

    Kath

Shoes Junie........I could use one suitcase just for them! Have a good time, and we'll keep your ML's on ice for you.........2 buckets!

Kathy, glad you missed the dust storm and hope all your relatives get through it with out too much trouble.

Lori, ROFL....hope junie gets to read your post before she leaves...she will get such a kick out of it. Just want to wish everyone a great day....and good drinking! Brought some ice wine back from OZ, and can't wait to try it. We love the ice wines from Canada, (the Toronto-Niagara Falls region), but haven't tried any from anywhere else. Prob is you are just supposed to use teeny tiny special glasses for it....I happen to prefer larger amounts, so no teeny glass for me....lol.

A great day for me, indeed! Get to see my brother. We are staying at our favorite hotel with the "free" happy hour and cooked to order breakfast. We will only have a few hours together as he doesn't get into town until 5:45pm and his plane leaves at noon on Saturday. BUT I'LL TAKE IT!

Bought myself a flat iron to play with before the big trip to HI. Hope I can manuver it! Probably won't be back on until Sunday morning. So you all have a great weekend.

    Aloha, Lori
