Good morning to all my breast drinkin buds. I hope this week finds our HD and Dee feeling better, and Junie....how's that tummy doing?
Kathy, love the picture. However, I could not pull that off, as I don't have any neighbors!
Pulled up a couple recipes for the Tattie Tenders to put in a fountain, The Raspberry Martini, and for you chocolate lovers...........A Chocolate Raspberry Martini.
Raspberry Martini
Ingredients
1 1/2 oz. Stolichnaya ( Stoli ) Raspberry Vodka
1 splash(es) Cranberry Juice
1 splash(es) Sour Mix
3/4 oz. Chambord Raspberry LiqueurInstructions
Shake the ingredients with ice (or stir if you prefer) until well chilled. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a raspberry.
Ingredients
- 3 ounces vodka
- 1 1/2 ounces Creme de Cacao
- 3/4 ounce razzmatazz raspberry liqueur
- 3/4 ounce Kahlua
- fresh raspberry
- ice
Directions
- I prefer Absolute Vodka (actually I prefer Grey Goose or Level, but I can afford Absolute).
Combine all ingredients in shaker.
- Strain and serve in chilled martini glass (easy way to chill a martini glass is to let it sit a couple of minutes with ice water in it).
Drop a couple of fresh raspberries in glass.
Junie, this ones for you. YOU CALLED IT! Check out his ear!

Welcome back Lori. Poor, Tiger, NOT! LOL. I hope his wife helps him change his dressings! I am so thankful I have some vacation time left. Husbands xmas party this weekend was ok. I am thankful with this economy that they still have a party for us. He has a very generous boss. I was as sore as could be this morning. I wanted so badly to just turn on my side for a little bit, but whilst < (not a word?) rolling on my side to grab my medicine bottle off my nightstand, I knew that front and center are my only options still. I think the tattie tenders are slacking. I wish someone with some strength here would slap them into livelyhood. Kathy, you are probably in the air now or perhaps even in Vegas. Hope you can find some free wifi and keep us posted while you let your buffets digest. Dee, darling, are you at work today? I hope you are feeling better today. Kitty, get your whiskers in here and let us know how you are doing. Husband brought me a nice hot Latte this morning before he went to work....love that man. It is 9 degrees and snowing here. I am a slug. To all the rest of you gals, would love to keep this place alive while I am on vacation, so join me on the grounds of the wonderful HTL. I will hold a stool or a floatie open for anyone. Come and get you fills here! Later all, cheers to the HTL, where the fun never sets! HunkyD

Hi Drinkin'Buds~
Lori - that raspberry martini sounds delicious!!! JOCKS! PANTS! Get off your lovely asses and whip up a pitcher please!!
It is winter here too. Junie, sorry I sent that drizzly crap your way. We've had a very pleasant fall though, but guess it can't last forever.
Welcome newbies! It's always fun, free and no hangovers at the HTL!
HD, glad your surgery is over and that you're in recovery now. Soon you can have a shot of Baileys in that cappacino. Yummy...
Kathy - gorgeous picture!
Stay warm everyone!
Cheers,
Donna

Native Mainer...
Thanks for the info.... I'm glad you are doing well with the Arimidex.
I just read about another study which seems to indicate that the women who are doing well on the AI's are not very good metabolizers of Tamoxifen. They seem to think that if you take these women into consideration, maybe there is no 'real' increased benefit to switching to an AI, unless you are not metabolizing Tamoxifen very well. But, no one really knows for sure....Two things concern me about the AIs...
1. AI's raise your cholesterol levels...
2. AI's are not very good for our bones... I had a bone density test many years ago that showed I have very low bone density. I know I'll have to have another test when I switch to the AI...
I also don't like that they make our hair thin. but, of course, this is a minor se... I'll have to live with it.
Thanks for your opinion. I know that since I gotta take something for FIVE years, I feel better about having the choice, and it makes sense to me to NOT stay on ONE drug for the FULL five years.
I'm waiting to have my celebratory drinks, til AFTER my onc. appt. on FRIDAY!!
Hope you are ALL doing well, and keep drinking...

Pretty quiet day at the HTL. Seems like somethings sniffing around here though...

OMG! I don't know how you gals post all the great pics here but I sure do enjoy them!
It's winter here, reason enough to drink! Got about 1.5 " overnight and tomorrow we're dure for some "wintry mix" which means anything/everything. Have to get my butt to the airport and to NY early so that I don't miss my Manchester trip.
Cheers to our new puppy! I just had to get another cocker after our old girl died this past June and while I had every intention of waiting until after the new year that didn't happen and she came home with us yesterday. She's looks just like our old one, mostly white with some beige spots. She's a cutie but I sure did forget what having a puppy around is all about. My lab/mix was a bit older and not so puppy-like but for once she's actually acting 'older' and not so crazy!
Too busy to be drinking anything complicated so the open-and-pour easiness of wine and beer are what I've been enjoying lately. Would love to have a fancy martini mixed for me though!

Harley--I haven't had any hair loss from either tamoxifen or arimidex. I have arthritis in my knees that has actually gotten better since I've been on arimidex. Maybe I'm more active and I have lost a little (little being the operative word) weight so maybe that's making a bigger difference that I ever thought it would. As to the bone density issue, I'm getting my first bone density scan in January. If weight bearing exercise really helps then I have nothing to worry about, simply walking around with my weight will take care of that. I keep looking for some real scientific research that connects cholesterol and heart disease and haven't found it yet. I'm really suspicious of the whole deal since the pharmacuetical company that created simivastatin also decided what a normal cholesterol level is supposed to be. But I won't get up on that soapbox tonight.
goldie--thanks so much for the recipes--definately going into my drink mix recipe box!
hunkyD--glad you are recovered enough to move back to the lounge! Take all the pampering you can get here, and there seems to be a lot available, you deserve it. Set yourself up where you can supervise the entire lounge without lifting your head!

HD has her new puter...............Woooo Hooooooo!!!!! Looks like that could be Dee or Caz, sitting poolside! Calling in our fire crew, to get rid of what ever that is snooping/sniffing around the pool! Eeewwwwww.
Jaybird, I'll bet Avery is just loving that puppy to pieces? You are sooooo behind on pictures girl, its not funny!
Donna, you hit the 5 yr mark and are still talking hot flashes? Did they take you off the arimidex? I was so hoping the hot flashes would go away when we went off the armidex. How about the clonadine, you still on that?
Dee, just sending you gentle hugs girl. Hang in there, we love you.
Kathy..........what can I say............WIN BIG!
As for the martinis, I just googled them.....so I can't take credit for them. But they do look yummy! I'll bet that thing that's snooping around is looking for one. I'm not sharing!
Think I'll hang out around the fire for a bit, then heading in to the indoor pool.
ChEARS, Lori

Native Mainer-
I have a theory about the whole cholesterol lowering drug industry and the drs.... they have a deal, and are making LOTS OF $$$$$ by telling us that EVERYONE needs to be on these drugs. My primary care dr. told me that MY cholesterol was high... I got a copy of the results, because he didn't tell me ALL the #s... it was in the NORMAL range.... just as I figured...
I walk and run, sometimes, but my 1st bone density showed bad #s... I didn't get a dr. who knew what he was talking about to explain it to me, and I refused to take Fossamax... it was VERY NEW at the time...
Are you gonna take Zometa infusions while on Arimidex? I have read that this will help the bones.
Ah, the Hell with all this medical crap!! Let's have another drink!!!

Brrrrrrr....cold and windy here. The storm has pushed through. Flagstaff got 2' -3' of snow! Interstate 40 shut down for 140 miles, between Kingman and Winslow! Concho (where I live) ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Storm is heading east, Donna, Junie......ya ready?
Having me a hot tattie....uh, I mean a hot toddy!

EW, winter weather. We are at 7 degrees here with winds, and just a little snow covering ground. Nothing like Flagstaff. I am staying in bed for a while. I will have a latte please, skim milk.

awww.... sorry you are all having such COLD TEMPS!! It's kinda cold here, too, but still alot warmer than your neighborhood!
I hear you can keep warm by drinking... hot toddies, yes, or even B & B and hot tea! That is my treatment for a winter cold... it soothes the throat...

EEEEEEEEEuuuuuuuuuuuuwwwwww! What IS that thing sniffing around? Apparently we need to beef up security?????? Wow, that was a shocker, HD - but happy to see you have a new computer!! Now if I can just get that picture out of my head...
Sorry to hear about the wintry weather so many of you are having. It's 31 degrees and dry here in central OH, which makes for good driving, even if it is a little colder than we've had in a while. This weather makes me want to curl up in the recliner with a good book (to put my drink on!) and nap the afternoon away.
Had a second fill this morning, Tylenol seems to be working just fine so far. Can anyone give me some info about implants vs. TE's - the TEs seem to extend from the chest centerline to all the way under my armpits - the implants are narrower, yes? They should end up up-front more? I feel like the Michelin Man...
Hope everyone is well - I think I'll have another raspbetini, please.

Harley-I'm going to wait and see what my bone density test shows, then deal with things from there. I am seriously needle phobic and probably won't go with zometa infusions if I need something, unless they will sedate me before starting the IV. I'll go with one of the pills first. Or let me drink a BIG pitcher of raspberry martini first!
Goldie-that storm is due to hit my area tomorrow, starting mid morning, getting worse through the day. I'm kinda wishing it was going to start earlier, then we could have a snow day-I could use a snow day! An excuse to drink a hot toddy!
I am soooo glad this semster is almost over, even if most of the break will be spent going to appointments--mammogram, BS follow up, bone density, med onc follow up, then to Boston for BS consult for reconstruction. . . If this place wasn't open 24/7 I think I would go absolutely ape s**t batty before the spring semester starts!

Erika, I am no expert on expanders but they are different for everyone it seems. Your implants will fit in the way they are supposed to I believe one way or another. Perhaps the other gals can "fill" you in with more info. Glad you are able to manage your pain after your second fill. I hope all your fills go as well. I am stumbling trying to find the hot tub in this place, plus I need a booster seat. Hope someone will join me. Kathy, are you winning millions? XXOO HunkyD

No advice/knowledge to give as I had lumpectomy. Sounds like quite an involved process!! Best of luck to all going through that part of "this".
Lori--we haven't got the snow yet, but is is north of us and holding my breath! We're in the 40's with light rain and huge awful gusts of wind. Guess I better listen up to tomorrow's forecast....
Got my bucket o'beer--heading out to hot tub to find Hunky. Jocks has sent Pants into town to get you a booster chair!!!
huggsss to ALL--junie

Morning, all! School closed due to the imminent arrival of the big snow storm, so I'm headed to the hot tub for a loooonnnnggggg soak and good gab fest with hunky, junie and whoever else is there. A little too early in the day for a raspetini, but I would love a caramel cappuccino. I take it our talended Tattie Tenders are also best-ever Boobie Baristas?

Morning coffee in the hot tub. How relaxing is that? I am glad I can get into the hot tub here at The HTL, as in "real life" it would only cause major hot flashes. And I used to love getting into hot tubs. It might be ok if it's not real hot.
Kathy, I hope you're having a great time. Unless you have your own wireless device, or pay for internet, you are SOL. They don't want you on the internet, they want you at the machines!
Junie, glad you missed the snow.......was gonna say that I was glad you just got rain instead. But after all the rain you DID get, I'm thinking you might of preferred the snow!
NM, you just stay here until things clear up out there. The boys will take good care of you.
Dee, where are you? We miss you! ((((Dee))))
E, so glad those fills are going well. Lets hope and pray it stays that way.
Now look at that cute little booster chair Jocks bought for you HD. It looks like a sock monkey, and you sit on his lap!
KitKat, you out there looking for Kathy?
Hope everyone has a great day, Lori

I am coming in for my morning Latte and some chit chat. A sock monkey seat? Lori, your mind runs wild. Good morning NM! Dee, come get in, cause in a week you won't be able to, or I should say you will need a booster seat too or will be sitting on the edge. Our weather is 1 degree this morning. I am not moving from warmth!! HunkyD

Native Mainer,
I'm with you... the pitcher of raspberry martinis, or in my case, maybe a pitcher of Melon balls, would be the way to go!!
I am scared of those bisphosphonates!! in whatever form.
Good luck... keep me posted.
Hugs

Hooray for variety and for Tattie Tenders with access to unlimited supplies of beer, wine and mixed drink ingredients!
I'm putting in an order for hot chocolate this am--looking at 2 feet of snow before the sleet and rain started last night, still snowing, though not hard. Thank God I have a neigbor that plows driveways for a reasonable fee! Hmm. maybe a shot of Creme de Menthe in the hot chocolate?

NM, I was able to look at the pic you posted by typing in the link tied to "ignore". I couldn't paste it either, but found one that is about the same! It is too cute, good job! I'll join you in a morning drink, but I'll have the creme de menthe in my coffee please, dear sweet Pants.

Hi Drinkin' Buds~
Getting ready to head home for the day (or actually stopping at Target to do some shopping, which is a VERY scary thought).
Apparently that "thing" lurking around the pool has a biting issue...it's wearing that collar thing they put on your dog when it has surgery so it can't lick itself EWWWW
J - New Puppy! How exiciting is that? Does she/he have a name yet?
Lori - yes, I'm 5 years out and till flashing ( or smokin' hot as I like to say LOL). Still take clonidine and they are MUCH better than they used to be, but I still have my moments.
I didn't tolerate any of the AIs well (I think I tried them all) and have been on Evista for about 6 months and have no SEs. It's not as "strong" as an AI but I tolerate it very well.
It was 9 degrees here this morning!! But I got up and drug my ass to Jazzercise. I've got the exercise thing down, now if I could just stop my "hand-to-mouth" disease
I love the hottub at Marks, but it has to be at 98 or 99 degrees at the most. He used to have it at 104 and it was like getting into a stew pot. I would look around to see if there were carrots and potatoes floating by.....
Okay - I'm off. I am POSITIVE that after my Target experience, I will sip something tonight. I tend to like rum in the cold weather. Pussers is so good, so is Myer's Dark rum. Guess I'd better go so I can also get in a stop at the licka sto.
Stay warm my friends!
Cheers,
Donna

goldie--thank you! That picture just cracks me up--I LOVE eggnog (the real thing)! I'm so gald you could help me share the pic!
Donna--I've got hand-to-mouth disease, too, and this time of year is soooo hard--I love all the goodies and don't need a singe extra calorie. Oh, well, I'm not going to deprive myself, life's too short.
Move over, Hunky, the temp's dropping here, too. Not quite your level--only getting down to the 20's tonight, only aobut a 5 mph breeze. One think I really miss is the hot tub on the back deck on a snowy night. Oh, well, one more thing I've got to get used to never being able to do again. Have I mentioned recently that I HATE cancer. . . .

Donna, very funny post! Still giggling...thanks for bringing a smile to me today. I do like my hot tub a little on the warm side, but it does take high temperatures to render fat...so I guess I tolerate it well....God help you at Target my child! LOL! HunkyD

Evening ladies, just time for quickie. Have to pack again. Leaving in the morning for Phx, time to do inventory at our warehouse and I have mammo and bone density tests to do. Heading out as early as I can get my butt ready.
Yes Donna..........too funny. Hope you managed ok in Target! And hey, hand to mouth disease, better than foot in mouth!!!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and stays warm! Get your warm fuzzies out!
