Keeping my distance from NM....but reaching real hard and careful to just dip my cup in for a taste! ..............Got it! One sip and I got a buzz! No wonder you're having all those mood swings!

All kidding aside..............hope you have a  better day tomorrow!

Well, doesn't look like we are gonna make River Dance. It has been in the 40's so the snow is melting and then today it rained pretty good. So too muddy to venture out Cry. Trying to find someone we can give the tickets too.......so far .... no one! We could go out if it were to freeze, but temps are only suppose to go to 30. So I am really bummed!

Someone distract NM........I need to dip again! ...and with that dip, I toast Watson!

Hang on, NM--grabbing your hand so I can laugh, scream, cry with you!   OK!  Have your hand--what are we going to do first?    Lets laugh, then hug and cry...then jump up and down and scream and stomp our feet !!!     Feel better???   I do!   Hang in there!   LOL!  Snookie and Pancho are running for cover.

Lori--so sorry that you will miss your River Dance show.   Friggin winter weather!!!  Flat out friggin' everything!   And, a toast held high for WATS--thats what I called her in the chat room.

I've been hearing that we may have tons of ICE before the snow hits.   Ready for everything--food, booze--but if we lose power, I will go ballistic!!!   Maybe we'll just get some of Lori's rain!!!

hugggsssss to all...staying in the hot tub--can't get pruned in cyber world!

Glad to announce the tranquilizer drink worked it's magic--that plus nearly 12 hours of sleep and I feel much more stable.  I tell you all, getting up at 4 am for work, then being on my feet non-stop for 6 hours, and dealing with frightened students, plus chemically induced menopause and a backache from being unbalanced "up front" makes for one very, very tired me!  When I get that tired I have no control over the mood swings and any controller between the brain and the mouth disappears into the woodsy wilderness of my back yard.

Lori--sorry you won't get to see Riverdance.  I've always wanted to see them live, but they haven't come to Maine that I know of.  Or if they did I wasn't in a position to go.  I hope you get a freeze so you can go after all.  (I can't believe I'm actually wishing for freezing weather!)

junie--thanks for teaching me the moody swing dance--lots of fun and a good way to burn off "moody" energy!  Or at least exhaust myself to the point of being able to fall asleep!

I've given the Tranquilizer recipe to Jocks and Pants.  They've agreed to keep a small batch on hand for any of the Lounge Ladies who need/want a dose.

How about a Warped Thursday for the drink of the day?

    Warped Thursday Recipe

    Ingredients My Bar
    5 oz Vodka Vodka
1/4 packet Tropical Punch Kool Aid Juice
    6 oz Cherry Cola Mixer

DON'T DRINK THIS TOO SOON AFTER TASTING THE TRANQUILIZER DRINK!

Well, no freeze here! Bummer. And to make it worse, I can't even find anyone to GIVE the tickets to! So now I will see if anyone I know down there, that can't go, knows of anyone that can use the tickets. Hate to just throw away $120. On the commercials here for River Dance, they say they are breaking up, so doesn't look like I'll ever get to see them! Oh well!

Fun dance there Junie! Should burn off some calories too! NM, glad you are feeling better. This is certainly the place to come to!

    Happy Thursday All

    Good morning gals!

NM, Glad the drink worked and you were able to get much needed SLEEP!!!! Hard to cope without getting enuf shut eye.

Lori, Sorry about the weather making you miss seeing Riverdance, esp since you already bought the tix! That sucks.

Dee, Hope you are feeling better today! Think you need some R&R around the pool. Maybe a big blowout party tonight will help! Remember all those "Thunderous Thursdays" we used to have? Of course, then we'll all pass out and look like the gal in NM's pic.

Donna and junie, Has the storm hit either place yet? Stay warm, and hope you can stay inside and don't lose power...please let us know how you are doing today.

OK...WTF....guess I will have a nice steamy, Irish Coffee w/ whipped cream and laced with creme de menthe. Sounds like a good way to start the day....

I am (finally) home from work.  The 1 hour 65 mile drive took dang near 2 hours with the new snow that's falling.  I know I made a bunch of people mad by driving at the lowered speed limit on the interstate--several gave me the finger.  At least I didn't come across any of the idiots off in the median!   I am sooo tired tonight, not sure why.  Slept well last night, good day at work, but wiped.

So, boys, what can you whip up for me that's warm and energizing?  Maybe a latte with a shot of cinnamon schnapps?  Or better yet, a double shot of cinnamon schnapps warmed up with some latte?  A couple of NoDoz with a cinnimon schnapps chaser? Oh, wait--French Vanilla Kahlua!  That's what I need!

NM, so funny.  I would go as slow as I wanted on shlick roads too.  I'm tired also tonight.  Road rage is very draining indeed!  I have just enough energy to twist the cap off the cold bottles of Coors Light the boys have brought me.  They could open them for me I guess.  Lori, sorry about your River clickers.  Hope you got some money for your tickets.  I am more worried about you running out of booze at home.  Jaybird!  Help.....drop some little liquor bottles out of the plane over Loris house.  Junie, getting close to your vacation time..guess I will make sure we are well stocked with your Miller Light upon your return.  I know you will have a good story or two. Hope you can log on to that netbook every now and then.  Miss Casinogirl....so glad your back is a lil bit bettter and great to hear from you.  Dee, hope you are doing backstrokes in that wunnerful cooler of elixir NM made up.  I know your new implants will keep you afloat. Kathy, do you enjoy rubbing salt in a fresh wound?  All of us gals dragging our butts out too work can almost writhe in pain knowing your are swilling at the lounge all day....LOL!  You know I am kidding.  And, to those with the Feb. surgeries...we are here for you!  I know I leave names out but I am here in spirit with all of ya.  Clinking for Watson....my gawd when will this shit end?  XXX's and OOO's to all.....HD

Good evening drinkin' buds! I'm back from cold/rainy London and am off for 2 whole days before I have to head up to Minneapolis (like I'm not already cold enough in Chicago???) on Sunday for my annual training Monday and Tuesday. Wish me luck, if I 'flunk' I lose my job! :(

Anyway, here's a 'new' drink that I'm calling the Moscow Special. I can't tell you why but I CAN tell you that it's yummy and you'll be duink before you know it!

You'll have to portion it accordingly, but here's the recipe: take one liter size water bottle, add 4 minis of vodka, 4 small pomagranite martini mix bottles (okay, like stirrings brand obtainable everywhere but the mini size), add one can of sprite and top off with (cheap?) champagne. It's like a kiddie cocktail/fruit punch. You'll have to experiment with portions (unless you use my recommended water bottle!) but it's a really good party drink! Cheers!

Stay warm and stay safe everyone!

    Morning ladies!

~Throwing a sheet over NM to cover her up as I walk by~

NM, I am HD......I would be driving as slow as I wanted. When I lived in MI, we had bad snow storms on occasion and my drive to work was mostly freeway. I drove a camero and was the slowest one out there. What skeered me was, was always the fear of a semi truck coming up behind me too fast, and not being able to slow down! Thank gawd it never happened.

HD, how sweet of you to be so concerned of my imbibifications! But for now, this is my only imbibery!

Jaybird, I have no doubts that you will pass your test with "flying" colors.(punn intended) Good luck to you.

Junie, I don't know if you got any of that storm, but news this morning is talking about OK. Donna hope you are ok and didn't get blasted too bad.

Kathy, whats going on with that unwanted, 4 legged critter that's been taking residence in your attic? ......and I think I'll one of those what you had yesterday morning...sounds yummy. P.S. What is Slaint?

Well, it is still too wet here to get out and not sure about tomorrow. But if we can get out on Sunday, you can be DAMNED sure we go AFTER 10am! I did find someone to give our River Dance tickets to. A neighbor who comes up from Phoenix. I think she is about 70 and lost her husband about a year ago, but now has a beau. So the two of them were gonna go, and she told me that this is actually the first thing they have been able to do together as a date. And last summer she gave us an old barn door, that she paid like $200 for and wouldn't take any money for it. So, all in all....I'm happy with how it turned out.

Might have to roll NM in the pool......what do ya think girls?

If my drink made my clothes fall off it also made a lot of blubber in the butt and tummy area fall off too!  Hadn't thought of it as diet aide, but maybe. . . .

If you roll me off the picnic table can I request being rolled into the hot tub?  Waking up suddenly amidst a multitude of miniature ice bergs just seems too truamatic for my delicate constitution. . .

Well, I thought the picnic table was next to the pool, but I suppose it could be next to the hot tub.

Just to let you know NM, others have been known to be foung floating in the pool! Won't mention any names tho!

    Luv you all!

Brrrrrrrrr......hope everyone is safe and warm today, and none of you gals lost power. Donna and junie, worried about how the storm might be affecting you both....looks like quite a wide swath of snow and ice! Now they think it may not hit here till about 4 pm, but seems like we will get rain/sleet/ice and then snow. Already feeling the cold! Brrrrrrrrrrr.......PLEASE bring me a nice warm, strong drink, Pants! (EDIT: Sleet already started at 10am, and schools closing at 11am!).

Lori, Glad you found just the right person to give those tix to....nice way to get to repay her for her kindness in giving you that barn door. Disappointing for you, but a nice "date" for her and her beau! Oh, "slainte" means "cheers" in Irish..... I did an Irish cheer since I had the boys make me an Irish Coffee.

Careful MN...hope they aim right and you get rolled into the hot tub and not on the tiles around the pool! How I WISH it WERE a diet aid...I would be drinking it like mad. I have been doing 30-45 min on the treadmill 5xweek for over a month now, with NO results..just heard this morning that it is recommended to do an hour a day, for weight loss. Yikes.....need to amp up my game!

Jaybird, we all KNOW you will do great on your exams! That drink mix sounds yummy, but too much math for my brain to handle....would be easier with all those minis from the plane. Think the stewardess will slip me some minis when I go to Hawaii....? Nah....didn't think so! Would love to be on your flights, but not going to europe anytime soon, and it seems like you have been doing those intl flights lately.

Cheers to Sun and Fun (Jeers to Snow, Sleet, and Ice!),

    Good morning ladies!!

Have any of you ever thought about moving to the Pacific Northwest?? We don't have snow and it's not even raining right now! The grass is green and my rose bushes have leaves. Cool

    Ok, enough bragging!

I actually have had a pretty good but busy week! My gyn oncologist met us for the pre-surgery appointment and I'm feeling much less scared. Sadly my PS isn't seeing me until a week before the surgery - which really sucks!

I think I'll soak in the hot tub for a bit before I get started, though. Pants, my glass seems to have a hole in it...I'm sure I asked for more Irish cream! That's a good man!

I think I found a new primary care physician, too! We met with her on Thursday morning and although we had to wait 20 minutes past our appointment time, everything else was good.

We're turning our attached garage into living space - 4 more pieces of sheet rock to put up and then we can start with tape and mud! We're aiming to have it finished and the furniture back by the time of my surgery - keep your fingers crossed for me! Sadly, my husband has bad allergies and is sick a lot so it's slow going.

I'm starting my pre-surgery lists - what to take, what needs to be done before I go, and what I'll need for when I get home.

we had a patient at the clinic who was losing a LOT of weight during chemo/rad --not eating...the nurses kept hounding her about eating & using supplements like boost.  one day she came in & they started in on her...she got kind of huffy & very loudly told them yes i ate this morning--i took my boost, added an egg to it and some kahlua.

    still makes me laugh..........

Welcome grndslve, nice for you to join us here at the HTL! I agree with you and Connie, your part of the country is very beautiful, and weather is usually mild. My mom and stepdad lived in Tacoma for a few yrs, and my step-grandma was born and raised in Tacoma, then she and my grandpa moved there for about the last 20+ yrs of their lives. Yeah, it drizzled a lot, but that was ok....however my mom noticed she would get rather "blue" after so many cloudy days during winter. I love where I live though (northern AL)...when people find out I moved here from Hawaii, they are shocked....but I really would rather live here. We usually have a very mild winter, but I guess we are paying for it right now...had too many mild years! Nice mountains, lots of lakes and rivers, and BLUE skies most of the year. When it is hot and humid, I stay INDOORS....LOL.

    Ciao,

    Kathy

Hi grdnslve! I had my chemo with Dr. Gjerset out of Arlington, but he works in Mt Vernon, too. We moved to Sultan after my chemo was finished. I still see Dr. G every 3 months now.

We had a rough winter last year...over 2 feet of snow dumped very quickly and stayed for a couple of weeks! It was interesting watching from my window all of the people who had to go out in it. There are no snowplows here so getting the roads cleared was slow! Then we had a couple of weeks in the summer of 90+ temps. Very odd for this part of the world!

Arkansas checking in!   We are officially snowed in--about 6" and no letup in sight.  Am enjoying the day.  Got our netbook up and running this morning so I'm  having a blast playing with it.  (excuse the typos--I'm bad enough on a full sized keyboard.)

Be back later for happy hour--did someone mention PARTY tonight???

If no one has mentioned PARTAY tonight, I will.  The weather man just said that the wind chill is going to be between 15 and 25 BELOW the donut tonight.  I've been shivering ever since.  I need something to warm me up--what are Pants and Jocks recommending tonight?

NM, I think you need Pants and Jocks on both sides of you....THAT should warm you up! Brrrr that is cold weather you have there. Stay warm at the HTL....always nice here! The PARTAY sounds like a great idea.

Junie, Glad you checked in, and have power. Wonder how much snow you will end up with? The snow missed our side of town, but we had the sleet, hail, and rain. Might get more of the same tonight (so may have power outages), and a little bit of snow tomorrow. Not the storm they thought for us here, but still have to stay off the roads...so many elevated roads here, plus the ever present "black ice". Will prob have to forgo our Sunday trip to Tunica!

Connie, what will your turn your former garage into? A separate retreat for you (yes!), or more family room area? Sounds great, and I have my fingers crossed that it will be done way before your surgery!

All the warm drinks Pants and Jocks can think of, are on me tonight. Enjoy!

The room will be the TV/console game/board game room. My craft room is just off of it and is my retreat! In about 5 years we'll be enlarging the house and my craft room will also get bigger and have a door on it so I won't be disturbed as often. I have no idea how people with kids at home do crafts - the interruptions would bug me to no end!

Partay sounds great! Count me in!

Dang!!  Did I miss the PARTAY????  No problem--having my own!!!  It is STILL snowing!   Haven't lost power so not sure if I am toasty or toasted!!!   Been a long day--but a fun one.   Sure does make a big dif being retired and not having to fight this crap to get to work (big sorry and huggsss to those who do!)

I have been fortunate to visit the PNW area and it was a lovely trip--managed to hit it on a week with NO rain or gloom.  Beautiful part of the country!  So many beautiful places in the USA....

It is so quiet that I think Jocks is taking a nap--wake up!!!!!  need a bucket of ML....thank 'ya darlin....back out to hot tub and will be hoping to pass this snow storm east as soon as possible!!!

Good morning, all!  The world didn't blow away duirng the night, although a lot of branches and a few shingles are down in the back yard this morning.  With an extra comforter and Snooke for a bedmate last night I was toasty warm.  I'm very happpy to still have power and hot coffee to sip.  I'm still a little bleary eyed, just got up.  Gotta get to work baking some cookies, got a freind coming over to help me with some heavier household maintance chores and he does love his cookies.

Sending warm thoughts to the sisters south of me who are getting the kind of weather I'm used to up here.  Stay home if you can, stay warm, and go slow if you must go out!

Kinda feeling sorry for myself and since my husband stayed up with me most of the night I thought I'd come here for some comfort.

During my first cancer in 2004, they had to remove a part of my stomach. Since then it hasn't worked very well, although by late 2008 it was mostly ok. Then I had to have chemo again last summer. It stopped working - food doesn't digest and it hurts and I can't eat and. Been to a GI guy and he's done a bazillion tests which contradict each other. One had food that was 20 hours old. Another showed that I was digesting normally. So last night I was feeling like maybe it was ok to go back in the water and I had *gasp* an apple. I've been up all night puking and feeling absolutely horrid.

Why does my body hate me so much?

I'm sorry to snow on the party but I needed to vent. Thanks for listening.
