NM, glad you got your surgery date.  You other chickies going in.....good luck....I'll come along and set the morphine pump for you.  Lord knows I've seen them do it enough...just need to grab the charge nurses keys before I come to your room......LOL.  Dee...too funny about the shoveling.  Mine however would not ever reach my chin.  I went small, you got it all!  Have I told you guys lately I hate cancer?  Lori, have fun at the outback.  Your mom will have a spell probably.  Welcome all you newbies...can't go back a page and can't remember names (thank you chemobrain).  Kathy, hope you get your valentine trip.  Hell, use your dogs as sled dogs...how far could they get you?  Here's to snowballs and highballs!  HD

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts and prayers for my sister.  She goes in for an MRI tomorrow afternoon.  So, we have to wait the whole weekend to find out what's up.  This waiting thing is the worst!!!

Dee - I love your foob story!  When I get cold and start to shiver, mine tense up and feel like they're going to freeze up or something.  It's the strangest thing!!!  So, I just keep as warm as possible!!

Happy TGIF everyone! Esp for you "working gals"!!! Lori, what a neat pic...total surprise on your mom's face...and you look so nice....your hair has gotten sooooo much longer! Have a wonderful visit.

Funny about the snow here...it is expected to accumulate SOUTH of us, and to the gulf. We may get flurries...LOL. Of course WE would like snow, as it doesn't snow much here. My DD lives near Dallas, and the g'kids had a ball with all that snow...first time in the 2 yrs they have been there. But its been cold here..highs in the 30's....going to an upscale place for dinner tonight, but can't wear my new dress....gotta be pants so I won't freeze my heiny off (or maybe that would be a good thing...LOL). Throwing the diet out the window tonight.....

What is our drink of the day? Something warm and potent??? Maybe a spiked mug of hot choc? You gals stay warm!!!

    Hugs and Mugs,

    Kathy

connie--big congrats on the room--always such a relief when a big project is DONE.  and praying for you for the 16th--hope you like your new ta tas--

lori--have a wonderful time & what a great suprise for your mom...wish my suprise for my mom would be so good.  meeting my folks on sat & finally telling them about me..my dad has been going through treatment & with all they were going through I just couldn't tell them earlier.  was hoping i could just do the surgery & hormone tx & they would never need to know, but unless i can explain not seeing them for the next year, that isn't going to work.

kittycat--running out of words to express sympathy--sometimes my heart just feels so heavy i think it is going to burst.

cosmos would either make me puke on a good day, or end up naked in the lake, or both.  while i'm on the vicodin i'm either not allowed to drink, or have to hide the credit cards.

stay warm everybody, and swim up lounge say 6:00?

grdnslve, It is SO hard to tell our loved ones that we have cancer. My heart goes out to you, on having to tell your parents about it, tomorrow, esp with what your dad has been going through. I think we all remember having that "talk" with our loved ones....and trying to be brave. I am sure tears will fall, but after telling them, they will be able to share their concerns, love, and be able to comfort you. I think my grown kids handled it better than my parents. My dx has been almost 2 yrs ago, and my parents NEVER mention it anymore. I guess at their ages, it is better not to think about it, and hope for the best. Sending comforting (((HUGS))) and good thoughts your way, for tomorrow!

Kittycat, We are all VERY concerned for your sister....please let us know the MRI results when you get them. Can imagine it will be a tense weekend till you know the results. Wishing and praying for good news!

Okay, will be at the swim up bar later on today......glad its warm and sunny there!!! Pants, I feel like some champagne, would you please chill some bottles for us?

    ChEARS,

    Kathy

I think I need a quadrillion triple of those drinks. Sad news again. Just happened. Today they buried the 14 yr old who was shot at school last week. Well, a few minutes ago we had "Breaking News" (never a good thing). And there were multiple shootings at our university. SInce it just happened, not too much news yet. Apparently 10 people went to the hospital (but not all were shot), and then they say 3 are dead and 1 injured. Seems like a professor that was denied tenure shot and killed 3 other professors. My DD went there, (and may know someone who died), and I know a couple of the professors there,so we are very saddened to hear this. We have NEVER had a shooting at a school here, and now to have them just a week apart. What IS this world coming to. Please pray for the victims and their families.

    Stay safe,

    Kathy

Update: Apparently there are several also that are injured, some seriously. Everyone is shocked, cause this has been such a relatively safe city....not anymore.

Thanks E, they sure need everyones prayers.  We just realized that my DD that moved to TX had worked with one of the professors that was killed, back b4 she got married. They worked in research. Said how nice she was.

Had to have some drinks before going out to dinner tonight, was just so sad over these shootings. The whole city is in shock...weird to see it on World News Tonight, etc.

    Hope everyone is doing well,

    Kathy

Good morning to all my drinking buds!

grdnslv, wishing you the best when you tell your folks. I think that was one of hardest things to do. Since I live 2000 miles from my family, I had to do it over the phone. I had only known for a day, so I was still in shock myself. Lots and lots of crying. Keep all of us there with you, for strength!

Kathy, I heard about that on the news. So so terrible. And now a young one killed on the luge, in the Olympics. Another tragedy. Sending prayers to all the families. And I was hoping you would get to make it to Tunica Cry. Enjoy your dinner out with hubby.

    KK, thinking of you!

Junie must be having a fab time, or too busy cleaning the sand outta her pants!

Dee, Hunky, Connie, NM, Caz, Donna, E & E, and OMG I know I must be forgetting some......hope everyone has a yippie ki ay week end.

Those that have my number, give me a call! Or if you don't have it, email me for it.

Good morning drinking buds! NM, what a nice toast. Lori, I agree, soooooo very sad about the young olympian who died tragically while doing his practice luge. Just horrible. Makes you stop and give thanks for being alive, and being with loved ones. You just never know.

We're still debating whether or not to go to Tunica for just the one night. Supposed to snow here, which could paralyze the city....decisions, decisions. Our dinner last night was fantabulous...such great service and food...so many nice restaurants here now that we would never have gone to this one, except for getting to critique it (mystery shop).

Ummmmmm....so nice and warm here already, by the pool. Glad our TT's keep the mimosa and martini fountains full....I think I need a larger glass so I don't have to get up as often. Thinking about jumping in the pool, since they keep the water so nice and warm. Anyone wanna join me???

Raising my glass to victims and family/friends who are grieving,

    Kathy

Goldie - I love that pic!  How fun!

Wahine - that is terrible news!  It's sad to hear when someone's life is taken away, esp so young.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for my sister.  She had her MRI yesterday.  the onco said she's not 100% convinced it's cancer and is not 100% convinced it's not!  They are going to do a bone biopsy, too.  I just feel so awful for her.  She has a daughter who is only 8 years old.  I can't imagine worrying about your mom at such a young age.  My niece doesn't know anything.  Neither does my mom.  We're keeping it quiet until we know everything.  We should know more on Tuesday.

My hubby and I are still camping - trying our best to enjoy our time away with friends and family.  We can't say anything to anyone, so it's nice to "talk" about it on this forum!  :)

Kittycat, Oh I am so glad you are off camping, as maybe that is helping keep your mind off all the worry. I do realize that you and your sis are having a hard time, esp waiting till Tues. I would try to focus on the dr saying she is "not 100% convinced it's cancer"...and try to think positive unless you hear otherwise. Still hoping and praying for NO cancer!!! Not sure what a bone biopsy entails, but it sure sounds like it might be very painful. My heart goes out to her..and hoping she does not have any bad news that she would have to explain to her DD.

    Sending prayers, love, and hugs....

kittycat--praying the tests will be neg for cancer for your sis--so sorry about the waiting, we all know what a killer that can be.

the news has been on the tearful side -  a lot of families are hurting this weekend, for no good reason.

thanks for the support regarding me telling my folks....just got back.  guess i could have saved the gas & ferry fee & phoned them.  my mom did say a couple of times that she is worried about me, but dad just said 'my back hurts & i want some sausage'...so my brother asked him if he had heard me & dad said 'yes i heard her, but i want some breakfast'   --  hubby is a bit put out.... i don't even know what to feel.   by the way, my mom is the one with early dementia..

it's raining out---thinking about cheating & hitting the hot tub--maybe with something cool & frosty like a strawberry marguerita...lots of space if anyone wants to join in...the lake is beautiful even in this weather & the swans are coming in.....heres to sanity

by the way tomorrow is my birthday & neither of my parents mentioned it.........

aw...grdnslve...what a rough day for you....I am so sorry.  We have all been there so we do understand.  That was a very hard day for me telling my aged mom.  I am going to make sure and check in for a birthday celebration for you tomorrow...might start the party myself.  If you need an ear to vent too, this is the place...hit the hot tub...keep your arm out of the hot water for drinking purposes and don't worry about LE tonight!  I'll join ya....XXOO HunkyD

grdnslve, I am SO sorry that your parents didn't think about your birthday being tomorrow....try to remember they love you, but are getting older and maybe it slipped their minds. Guess your dad's way of dealing with the cancer news is to ignore it..I know he cares about you a lot...maybe just doesn't know what to say. Even if they had said the right things, it still would be hard to deal with. Well, you know we are here for you! Like HD said, don't worry about LE tonight, and enjoy the hot tub to your hearts content!!!  Big Birthday (((HUGS))) for you...although I imagine we can have a PARTAY for you tomorrow...we do love to party here!

Love the candles and wine (or is that sake?) Dee...thanks for the nice Valentines wishes! Want to wish all you gals a Happy Valentine's Day also. Looks like our big dinner plans for tomorrow night will not happen...they now predict we will get snow Sun/Mon, and low of 19 for Tues am, so its too cold to leave the dogs out....there went our Tunica trip! Will just have to delay it a bit. Trying to talk DH into going out for some ribeye steaks or tenderloin so we can have a good dinner here instead. Anyone doing anything special tomorrow?

Junie, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY for tomorrow....and hope your anniv vacay in MX is going well. We miss you, and can't wait to hear what fun you are having! Wish you were able to check in, but guess the wifi isn't working well.

Hugs and Happy Valentines Day Eve to all,

    Kathy

What a fun way to start Valentines Day..but we need to pull the lounge chairs AWAY from all the splashes in the pool. Yup NM, looks like you DID make a bigger splash than Dee....looks like a line forming now...see who can make the biggest splash! Love the big Birthday visual for grdnslve's birthday NM...great job! I think the TT's must be planning something too....lots of activity going on here today. Dee, I tried to get that very same sock monkey heart pic, but couldn't copy it.....what do they say about great minds thinking alike....LOL.

Big, huge snowflakes coming down...soooooo pretty since we only had a teeny snow awhile back. No accumulation yet...that might wait till tonight. Bummer we had to cancel our Val day plans, but gotta keep our doggies safe and warm! Are we gonna have a blowout party tonight not only for grdnslve's b'day, but also with a few hearts thrown in for Val day? Oh, and for junie's anniversary too.....busy day and night around the HTL !!! Think I need an icy cold beer....

Love and Suds to my Drinking Buds,
