    Hello ladies!

One week and counting for the surgery. I go in next Tuesday and tomorrow I do the CT scan and pre-op appointment with the PS. I'll remind you again closer to the date! The idea for doing them both at the same time is so that I don't have to spend all of this year recovering from surgeries! hunky, did you have a DIEP? I wish I could find out better what to expect but figure it's kind of like giving birth - no matter how much you hear you just can't imagine it until you do it.

All of you suffering through the snow storms - I hope you are safe, warm and don't have to go out!

We're close to putting the primer coat on the walls!

Jaybird, yikes that is some storm...cannot believe how much snow has been hitting parts of the country!! Awww....Avery is in preschool.....bet she looks so precious....she is so cute!! Hope you can get around as needed, this week!

Connie, You are like me...I did soooo much till the day of my surgery, knowing it would be awhile till I could do any physical work. BUT, have you gotten things ready for when you come home? There are a lot of threads here about what to do to prepare, tips for dealing with drains, etc, having things low since you won't be able to lift, etc. Besides adding pockets inside shirts for my drains, (some gals get camisole at hosp, but I didn't), don't forget the pillow to pad yourself from the seat belt on your way home, and to have stool softeners handy as you will prob need them after surgery. My PS also told me which gauze, tape, ointment, etc to get for changing the dressings at the drain sites, but your dr may do things differently. Just saying this, to make sure you have time to prepare. We will all be right there alongside you next Tuesday, making sure the surgeries go well, and the nurses take good care of you!

Junie, Have an wonderful time in MX....enjoy the sunshine for us!!!

Hope everyone is safe and sound tonight! Snow, snow, go away, and DON'T come back another day!!!!

Connie, I don't have any suggestions for you, since I had a lumpectomy...but wish you the very very best. Please check in as soon as you can, just to let us know you are home. And don't hesitate to come by and complain, bitch, cry or anything else. We are here for you!

I see AK was getting more snow. Chatted a bit with Junie last nite from her hotel near the airport. Junie, I hope you got out!

Well, I am suppose to leave tomorrow morning, but MI is suppose to get hit by this storm. Up to a foot of snow! I sure hope it doesn't delay me. And if it doesn't, I will still be scared! I'll have to make sure I have plenty of my free drink coupons!

    Good morning to y'all!

I'm sitting here at work looking at the massive amounts of snow falling, and wondering if I will have as much luck getting home as I did Friday. Connie, I had bilateral mastectomies with tissue expanders and saline implants, so I dont know anything about the procedures you are having. I do wish you the best and a speedy recovery. I hope you can get out for your trip Lori. And I hope Junie gets out okay as well. HD our apts are the same day next week! I just realized it when I checked the calendar.

Cheers to snow, it sure does blow and needs to go!!

Lori, Hoping for the very best, so you can leave on your trip, as planned! Hope you can get on a puter while you are gone, and let us know how you are doing. BTW, not sure if AK (Alaska) got more snow but AR (Arkansas) did...LOL! Yeah, I was able to chat with junie too, and soooooo glad they were able to get to the airport motel....hoping she got out ok this morning too!

Junie, Let us know that you made it to your hotel in MX! And what a good time you are having...just don't rub it in too much....still cold here you know!!! I hope you have perfectly wonderful weather there....and you enjoy it thoroughly!!!

Jaybird, Dee, E, Hope you all are coping with all that NEW snow....sheesh cannot believe more snow on top of all you had. Our city would be paralyzed...of course we don't have the snow removal equip you have there, so a lot of businesses, schools, and malls would be closed. When we got flurries-1" of snow yesterday, the elevated sections of our interstate spur were all closed...and that is a main artery here. Stay warm!!!! Hugs to you all that are dealing with snow!

Bottoms Up (but not on the snow!),

Congrats, NM!!! What kind of recon are you having?

I had my pre-op appointment today. My PS was in surgery so I saw a resident, instead. I'm a little less nervous but will definitely be glad when it's over with!

    Off to paint a room!

    Good morning to all!

We got at least another 8 inches of the white stuff and it took me and Julz a couple hours after work to shovel the driveway enough to get into it. Driving was touch and go this morning. Never thought I would be glad to get to work..LOL  They are calling for even more today and very high winds, we will see what happens. I hope everyone is doing well and has a great day!

    Cheers to big ears!

OMG Dee, So hard to envision that much snow....till they show it on tv...and it must be sooooo cold. Glad you made it to work safely, and are doing ok. Do you have a lot of snow on your roof? The newscast mentioned how much weight that snow is, and some roofs can't handle that. Hoping and praying for the best for you and E, and anyone else caught in this blizzard mess!

HD, Love your idea of junie making a sand angel...boy they will really think she has lost it then! Since its an AI maybe junie can get enuf booze under her belt and THEN try it....LOL.

NM, Very glad to know your recon has been set up...I celebrated with you in spirit(s)!

Connie, Yup, you and I are a lot alike....I do most of all the painting, repairs, and building stuff. I know you are so excited to have that room almost finished...did you mention wanting to finish it by Saturday?

Lori, Hope you were able to go on your trip today, and none of your flights were affected by all those cancellations! Have a great time!

Same goes Big Nose! (completing Dees cheer),

Hi ladies - I would love some champagne to celebrate NM's date on the calendar!! Thankyouverymuchsir, mayIpleasehaveanother?

Hope everyone with travel plans makes it there & back safely! I can't imagine going anywhere right now, but I'm very happy with the kids at home today - think I'll go make some cookies. Anyone want some?

We were supposed to get high winds & subsequent wind chill factors last night, but I slept so soundly I have no idea if it even happened!  Today my back hurts a little and I'm cursing that snow shovel!! But, no rest for the weary as they say. Lots to do around here in anticipation of surgery, so please wish me luck.

Stay well, stay warm, xo, E

But I forgot when your surgery is....must be all this champagne from celebrating NM's recon date........ Hard to keep up with everyone!

Hi Kathy - thanks for asking, my exchange is sched for 2/22. I am trying really really hard not to think about it too much until late next week, or I will most certainly freak out. So not looking forward to another recovery, and my shoulder is just now starting to feel normal again *sigh*. I just hope & pray that this is my last surgery...can anyone go with me? I'm needing a little strength...

Connie - wishing you the best in your procedure, and wishing all of you safe travels. xo, E

grakenmon--Here's a toast to an easy recovery and lots of strength and good drugs!

ConnieS-I'm having a "risk reducing" mastectomy on the right and bilateral DIEP reconstruction--left delayed, right immediate.  What kind are you having? And if you run out of rooms to paint I have a sun porch I'm thinking about painting!

Hi E, OF COURSE we will go with you....we are known to show up in purses, pockets, you name it! Want to make sure those drs and nurses treat you well. Now, we prob will have little flasks with us, so we can party, but will also make sure you get your pains meds as needed!!! Just leave us some room on your hospital bed! And BTW, my exchange surgery was a "piece of cake' as compared to bilat mast & recon. Oh, and don't forget everyone, to get your hosp to add "jello shots" to the menu, as was mentioned earlier.

    NOT stuck in a snowbank,

The room is painted! We'll be moving tools out later tonight and moving the furniture back in tomorrow!!!! I am so glad it's done and that we don't have anything major planned until the summer! My hubby and father-in-law are great and do the lion's share of the work, thank goodness!

NM, I'm having DIEP (delayed) on the right side and later will have reduction and lift (gotta get it put back where it belongs!). I'm looking forward to being much smaller than I am now, too!

I asked about the jello shots but the nurse figured it would be a non-starter!

    mmmm, pizza's here!

Yeah, I'm running into some resistance to the jello shots, too.  Something about alcohol not playing well with pain meds and anesthesia.  Since I'm terrifed of pain and morally opposed to throwing up I guess I'll pass on the jello shots while in the hospital.  Hope the pizza was good!

Here's to pizza with booze and smaller boobs!

This thread makes me smile.  I was a social drinker before, wine or a cosmo when out to dinner, three times a week. Stopped everything with treatment. Am halfway through chemo and asked my onc if I couldn't have a little drinkie the weekend before the next chemo because I am tired of being designated driver...geez, no one is as funny as they think they are when they're drunk! LOL

Anyway, had a date on Saturday. Drank one cosmo. Drank two cosmo. Should have never drank third cosmo.  Went home and threw up three times (hadn't thrown up at all during chemo)!

I've found wine tastes funny now, and beer bloats pretty bad. So I guess I'll stick with ONE cosmo.

    Cheers!

Welcome to our lounge, crs! IF you go back many, many pages you might see the pics of the "Hot Tatties Lounge" we made up, as well as our hot "Tattie Tenders", Pants and Jocks. And their friend "Hunk" who resides in Tunica. Drinks here are free, as are massages, gambling in the casino, etc! Oh, and the wonderful pool, swim-up bar, and mimosa and martini fountains! Whatever your heart desires. We are here just to have fun and support each other. That really sucks that when you finally had some drinks, it didn't sit well. Yeah, after so long, and with the treatment, better to just have one. At least for now! And heck, sometimes we drink so much we can even drink FOR you! Stick around, and enjoy the fun!!!

Connie, Wonderful news about finishing the room!!! Yay!!! Nice place to relax after your surgery.

Junie, Hope you are having a ball in Mex!!! Don't forget about us here in this brrrrrrrrrrrr cold weather. Really looks like we have to cancel Tunica, as we may get snow, and Tues am it may be in the teens. Was really looking forward to that special Val day dinner. So, please have fun for us!!!

Lori, Hope you were able to go on your trip! Let us hear from you if possible. And have a great time!

Dee, HD, Jaybird, NM, E, CAZ (where are you Caz???),and everyone else, Hope you are safe in this horrible weather! Stay warm!

Hey girls, I made it! Plan on surprising my mom later this afternoon. My brother has told her he was going to take her to lunch, her choice of place to eat. So she chose Outbacks. My brother is going to drop me off there and then go pick her up. Once they get seated I am going to come over and pretend to be the waitress. It will be fun to see the look on her face.

Kathy, thanks for correcting on my state abreviations! But gosh, don't you think Arkansas should be AK, Alaska could be AL, then Bama should be AB!

Anyways gonna make this short. I'll leave my suitcase packed so I am ready for all of girls having recon. Dee and E, stay warm...I think my brother said they got about 8" here too. Welcome CRS, so sorry you got sick on your cosmos, but you can do some catching up when you are done with treatments.

Love ya's, big ear and noses and all!

We got some bad news about my sister yesterday.  Her petscan showed up as possibly having cancer on her chest wall.  Sucks!  We were on our way to go camping, when I talked to her. When we arrived, I downed about 3 beers and then had a glass of wine with dinner.  This cancer thing is driving me to drink (more)!!!!!

Lori, I'll have one of those delicious blooming onions they have there at the OB. MMMmmm It's awesome that you will get to have fun with your mom and Bro later on!  Hey E,  just give me a holler if you need anything for your upcoming exchange. I honestly can't remember much of that day, they gave me hella anesthesia and all I remember is having the crazie itchies when I woke up. I still have more "work" to go on the girls but not for awhile thank goodness. So sorry to hear the news about your sis kitty, sending all my good thoughts for you and your family!

    Luv to all!

Dee, Funny you mentioned the "crazie itchies" after your exch surgery, cause I was just thinking about that yesterday! I had that right after my bilat mast/TE surgery... my DD was here for that, and when I came to in the room, I kept asking (ordering is more like it!) her and my DH to scratch my itches, esp on my face. Of course, I "thought" I was saying maybe "left eyebrow", but it prob came out as gibberish, and they never could scratch the right place! So, I was frustrated, they were frustrated, and I think I finally asked them to leave!!! But I do think the dr presc something to help the itchies after that. BTW, I like your more beer cheer.....

ROFLMAO Dee! Soooo funny.....I haven't experienced that! Are yours still numb? Mine are about half numb, and I hate getting poked by a branch or something if I am pruning bushes, and I don't know it till I look down. Thought the numbness would be hard to get used to, but other than trying not to get hurt accidentally, it isn't so bad. I have a funny image in my head...Dee, shoveling snow, and these 2 gigantic boobs hitting her in the chin...LOL. Maybe they'll work like "water wings" when you go swimming.......????? J/K...boy these things we have to put up with! BUT I still think it is amazing that they can make us look pretty good, in spite of everything.
