NOT! (April Fool's)...The devil made me do this....I remember saying the same thing about me last year on this date! But he really is in Tunica....hope he does well there, and hope everyone is having a fun April Fool's Day...now I gotta think of a big joke to pull on DH when I talk to him!

Wow, dee! It's like a tropical paradise. I'll take a little hair of the dog, myself.

Bring me the drinks, one at a time, starting from the left, please!
I vote for #2 and #5.
A little down in the dumps right now, my weight is up and my armpit is hurting like crazy (even with the drugs) in the crater the surgeon left. Which is leading me to feel - well, I can't even describe it. I know I never felt this way when I had colon cancer but all I had after that was a huge scar running up my abdomen. I'm sure this will pass, too. At least I hope it will!
Ok, when the drinks run out, start back at the left, please!

Very sorry to hear about your pain, Connie. Sure hope it is temporary! Have you asked your dr about it? Smart idea to have ALL the drinks....should definately numb the pain. This is a good place to escape from dr. visits, surgeries, pain, etc....nice place to chill out and be waited on!
Tomorrow is my 2 yr cancerversary....so the drinks will be on me!
Ciao,
kathy

My vote is for #3--with her roller skates, she can get our drinks to us faster!!!! Hooray for tax refunds!!! We're getting back from fed and state this year--but were warned to expect to pay on fed next year...well, that's a worry to put on a back burner!!! So, I've been working my way one by one through all the yummy drinks!!!
It is good to be home--very windy but have doors/windows open. Part of my daffydil bed is flattened to the ground--think a deer must have spent the night in them while we were gone. Dang critters!!!
Gotta get laundry done/put away...neaten things up a bit--company coming tomorrow.....the B&B is up and running for the season!!!!
hugggsssssss!!!!

Happy Thirsty to all, I mean Thursday. Sorry about your pain issues Connie. I think I can relate a bit. My dang mouth is still sore from dentist yesterday. He was worked on for one tooth for an hour and 15 minutes. He drilled so much I thought for a minute he was going to hit oil. Thanks for the bib Dee..I was honestly drinking with a straw all night last night. As far as the chicas go.....I guess I will vote for 1 and 6. Happy Cancuhversary Kathy! And oh happy tax day for Junie and those that got a spot of money as a refund from Big Brother.
Glad to see so many staying around the place....and I also am glad NM did not drink all those beautiful drinks!!! AStorm, I am still trying to figure out your avatar...I can see it's a cat....I think? Jaybird...glad you are safe and sound. It is hard to keep up with your flight pattern, but I know you are in Moscow a lot. Hope Avery likes her new bed...wow...my kid was out of his crib by one. He would climb out and so we upped him to childs bed early. I didn't want him breaking his arm or head climbing out of crib. Maybe he did fall on his head now that I think about it. LOL! Today is his birthday...bet he has had his share of the ol' April Fools jokes today. Lori, hope you get done with your tile so you can party a bit more. Hey, where is E? We had a skiff of snow today and the wind is blowing about 30mph so I am headed to the hot tub. Love and hugs to all....HD

hunky, My avatar is a cat wearing a reindeer costume. WHAT THE HECK is yours? Is you human under there? There must be a good story...share, do. Sorry about the dentist. I got a new dentist today and he said I had a very clean mouth. Well, I should cuz I sterilized it last night with those WTHs!0
-
AStorm, LOL! That is funny I don't care who ya are. I am not sure what my avatar is. It changes fairly often but always with my same face. Don't ask me why I chose it, because I don't know. I also am close to 2 years out from diagnosis. Glad you have a good clean mouth because sometimes we can get a bit foul from the mouth in here. LOL! Glad to know what your avatar is....HD

Thanks everyone. The pain is my nerves re-awakening, I think. The ones that were damaged by the surgeon who did the mast. I see my PS tomorrow so will ask him if everything looks ok.
How do you decide on the cancerversary date? Date of MX, date of removal, date of chemo being done? I'm 5 1/2 yrs out for my colon cancer and 1 yr out of the breast cancer. Totally missed the 5 yr mark last year because of the chemo/buying a house/moving fun we were having.

Connie, sorry you are having pain. I think you deserve a celebration every day!

Connie, I read an article awhile ago that mentioned your "cancerversary" or "survival" years start when you first found out you had cancer. Makes sense to me, as every day after that day is a survival day, and surgery, etc. was done to help you survive the disease. I had my core biopsy on April Fools day and was called the evening of April 2, with the "news", so that is my dx date. Who can ever forget when they were first told they have cancer....surely is a life-changing moment! I plan to celebrate in some way tomorrow.
HD, Hope your son had a fantabulous birthday!!! And I'm sorry to hear what a time you had at the dentist, and that you are still in pain. Yikes! Maybe you should've gotten drunk first...
Jaybird, YAY that now you have your own room again, and Avery is getting used to her new bed!
Might let DH stay a 3rd night in Tunica....didn't get as much done as I had hoped to, here at home. I bet he won't mind that one bit...lol.
Very best to my breast friends!
Kathy

March 7th, 2009 at 5:40 pm. That's the date and time the surgeon called with the needle aspiration biopsy results. That's the day/time my life changed forever and that is the date I use for my cancerversary. All I have to do is say that date and I start crying.
Ah, enough of that crap. It's a beautiful day, I have the day at home, it's time to catch up on some housework and possibly get a start on the spring yard work. In between lecture writing for next week! I should have been more disciplined duruing break last week! So, Boys, Wenches, what have you got for me that involves coffee, or at least caffeine? I've go one load of laundry out on the line drying but I've got lots more to do and I need some energy--

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!

YAY, DEE!!

Kathy, I wasn't buying your April Fools Joke! But I do hope DH came home with some winnings. I must admit, I do not know the date I was told I had cancer. I guess it's because it was something I didn't want to remember! It may have been last month. I think I had surgery in March 08 and started chemo in April....dunno. I do have all my paperwork, so if I looked, I could find dates.
Connie, good luck today and I hope you are pain free soon. And I hope the pain isn't from "over doing it".
Gail, the new HunkyDory....we call her Miss Hunky Gaga. And yes, she changes often, the lady never looks the same.
J, glad the BB is up and running for the season! With that tax money, you had better get the leak in the roof fixed! And you know I am right there with ya on "those darn critters".
Jaybird, I'm sure you and Avery are very happy to have all that work done and new beds to boot. Any more big projects coming up? Seems like we always have something going on, but ours are mostly for fun, kinda like the old west town and the greenhouse.
Hey Miss Gaga, a big Happy Birthday to your son. As for the tile laying, I am only about a quarter done! Since I start so late in the afternoon, around 4 or later....I don't have much time to get much done. I just figure its better than not getting anything done!
NM, maybe a jager bomb? But if you don't like jager, you won't like the bomb. Wow, they told you over the phone? I went if for an appt and was told face to face. Darrell nevers goes into my appts with me and he did that day. He said he knew it was going to be bad. And here I was sure it was going to be ok, as I had had a biopsy done on my other breast and it was calcifications, so I just knew that was all it was going to be......WRONG!
Off to town today. Good Friday! Hope all of you that are working, get to have a 3 day weekend. Dee, I'll put my drink on hold....dealing with some major heart burn or acid reflux, can barely swallow my own ...... nevermind, TMI!
Lori

Two gorgeous days off for me but I have to work Sat/Sun/Mon. Oh well. The entire crew will be in the "this sucks" boat so maybe we'll somehow manage to have a good time?
Lori, there's always something to 'do' to my fix-her-upper house but no actual projects planned for now, just the usual springtime yard cleanup, but I definitely need some painting done and now I need to find someone to re-do the main bathroom.
I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend! Cheers!

My breast surgeon calls all biopsy results the same day she gets them. Otherwise I would have had to wait for another 3 to 4 weeks for the next appointment. When the biopsy showed cancer my follow up appointment got moved up to a couple days after the call. For me, it was better this way. I wouldn't have remembered anything else she told me. Getting athe rest of the info a couple days later gave me a chance to get my head in a place where I could listen and remember what she said about next steps and options. And it let me have hysterics privately. Over the phone was MUCH better than waiting and waiting and waiting. . .

Good Friday everyone! I'll have some strong Irish Coffee, Candie....with whipped cream and creme de menthe on top. Later on I'll try that beautiful drink that Dee posted....yummmmmm. Lori, like NM, I was also told on the phone....at night....was sure I was going to hear good news...DH heard me answer the phone and ran upstairs and stood in the doorway of my office...I kept trying to motion for him to leave (of course he wouldn't budge)....as I was trying to write down everything and ask questions, between quiet tears streaming down. We were both in shock....he later told me how proud he was at how I handled it all... BUT I am so very thankful to be here, and that the cancer has been removed (thats what my drs say and I choose to believe them!), that those surgeries are behind me, and that DH (and my family) helped me through it. LOTS to be thankful for!
Like I mentioned yesterday, today the drinks are ON ME.....so come on wenches and TT's, lets keep everyone with a full drink or full buckets of beers. And fill up those mimosa and martini fountains please! For those whose cancerversaries were missed this year, I am toasting to you also! Actually I am toasting to all of you here, for I am very thankful for all of you....
ChEARS Big Ears,
Kathy

Good morning!
Just getting ready to head out to the PS. Have lots of questions for him.
The first time I was in the hospital when they told me, so that was face to face. The second time was over the phone and she was asking me where I'd rather have the surgery and who I wanted it with and it felt really rushed. And we ended up with a surgeon that I can't stand - so I just don't see him anymore. We did end up with a great oncology team, though.
I hope everyone has a great day and keeps the guys and wenches busy pouring drinks and massaging whatever hurts!

Dee thanks, I'll need that today! Getting my staples out in a couple of hours. I'll be back around this afternoon to enjoy it early and often.
Goldie, LOL! Yeah I get the Gaga vibe. Very creative. I just love this thread!
Well, gotta go study for a bit so I can enjoy the libations later.

Happy Friday Happy Hour everyone!!! DH just came home..I didn't get to tell him he could stay another day...he arrived with a big bouquet of flowers for my cancerversary! Nice surprise! Plus it was 80 today, so tonight we had happy hour outside with the dogs....gorgeous weather! Seems like we didn't have spring though....cold winter to summer....strange!
AStorm, Hope your staples came out with no pain! And that you are healing well.
Connie, I know, it seems they rush you into everything as soon as you hear the "C" word. Sorry you had a surgeon you didn't like. I had one too (real bad PS)...but cancelled the week of surgery...and am so glad I did, cause I really like my PS. It makes a big difference if you like and feel you can trust your surgeons! But its a shame they don't tell us to take our time with those very important decisions!!!
Its still Pau Hana time,
Kathy

have my bucket filled and on my way to the pool but will toss out a few thoughts....I always considered the date to be from dx--cause that's when you first go into survival mode. I actually heard my dx from hubby! He was home and took the call from the surgeon (I was probably out to happy hour somewhere!!! LOL!!) Somehow, DH talked surgeon into telling him so he could tell me--know that is not protocol but did give me a bit of space before I called surgeon back the next day with a ton of questions that I'd had time to think about. There was no bc.o then so I winged it through surgery, chemo, rads, Found bc.o after I'd been on Tamoxifen for a year and was going nuts and researching Tamoxifen...it's interesting to hear such individual experiences.
gotta get out to the pool--my ice is melting.....oh--no problem--Jocks! Candie!--more ice, please!!
I've got to chuckle--scared to death that one of these nights I'll look at hubby and say, "Jocks, another beer--please"...
everyone have a great weekend!!!!!

junie--you could tell your hubby that Jocks' is based on HIM--thoughtful, supportive, caring, willing to run interference. This is just your way of sharing your DH with the rest of us who don't have one of our own!

HAPPY EASTER!

Oh Dee...that is SO cute!!! No choc easter bunnies here, but I did use icing to make a cross on blueberry muffins that DH made. Was thinking today's drink could maybe be Tequila Sunrise (like Jesus rising, Sunrise service, etc). Is anyone having a big easter meal today? We're going over to DD's home, for just a simple meal this year....then lots of work to do this afternoon. Hopefully can stop in at the HTL later, and relax!!!! Wishing all my breast friends a HAPPY EASTER!!!

Not exactly a special meal, but I did splurge and get a leg of lamb that I put in the slow cooker this morning. It tasted sooooooo good, and I've got lots of leftovers to put in salad to take for lunches this week. Maybe a stew from the bone and meat scraps later in the week. It has been a beautiful day today, and I feel so peaceful this afternoon.
How about a Golden Sunrise for today?
1/4 oz Amaretto
1/4 oz Spiced Rum
1/4 oz Raspberry Liqueur
1/4 oz Wildberry Schnapps
1/2 part Orange Juice
1/2 part Pineapple Juice
1/4 oz Tropical Fruit Schnapps0 -
