    PINA COLADA SATURDAY!!!

    ALL TOGETHER NOW SING:

I was tired of my lady, we'd been together too long.

Like a worn-out recording, of a favorite song.
So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed.
And in the personals column, there was this letter I read:

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
I'm the lady you've looked for, write to me, and escape."

I didn't think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean.
But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine.
So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad.
    And though I'm nobody's poet, I thought it wasn't half-bad.

"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne.
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape.
At a bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape."

So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it's you."
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew"..

"That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."

I missed karaoke -- lucky for you guys. Spent the day in San Fancisco with my daughters and then then did some wine tasting and dinner with DH. The Pina Colada looks great!

I'd LOVE to plan a Cinco de Mayo celebration! Any suggestions are welcome. And yes, lots of parties between now and then.

Mariachi bands and Pinatas filled with gold coins for our Cinco de Mayo party!!

I'll start my song now 'cause I'll still be singing it by happy hour........."99 bottles of beer on the wall.  99 bottles of beer.  You take one down and pass it around, 98 bottles of beer on the wall.  98 bottles of beer on the wall,   98 bottles of beer.  You take one down and pass it around......"

What number are you at now, junie! Seems like it might be time to start at the beginning again... "99 bottles of beer..". I'm taking the plunge and will ATTEMPT to sing parts of 2 of my fav songs....here goes (cover your ears everyone!)....

Yeah, they was dancin' and singin' and movin' to the groovin'
And just when it hit me somebody turned around and shouted
Play that funky music white boy
    Play that funky music right
Play that funky music white boy
Lay down the boogie and play that funky music till you die
    Till you die
    Oh ya, ya

    and....

Mississippi in the middle of a dry spell
Jimmy Rogers on the Victrola up high
Mama's dancin' with baby on her shoulder
The sun is settin' like molasses in the sky
The boy could sing, knew how to move, everything
Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for

    Chorus:
Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
    Black velvet if you please

Okay now....try to hold down that applause....LOL. (I also like Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie"..but I'm afraid mine would!). Pants, puleez fix me a double....I need that after embarrasing myself trying to sing those songs.....What fun though...who is up next singing????

A long, long time ago... I can still remember how
That music used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance,
That I could make those people dance,
And maybe they'd be happy for a while. But February made me shiver,
    With every paper I'd deliver,
    Bad news on the doorstep...
    I couldn't take one more step.I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside,
The day the music died.Soo..Bye, bye miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinking whisky and rye?
Singing this will be the day that I die
this will be the day that I die
Did you write the book of love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so
Do you believe in rock n roll
Can music save your mortal soul
Then you can teach me to dance real slowWell I know that you're in love with him
'Cause I saw you dancing in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Then I dig those rhythm and bluesI was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
but I knew that I was out of luck
The day the music diedI started singin'...Bye, bye miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinking whisky and rye?
Singing this will be the day that I die
this will be the day that I die
Now for 10 years we've been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rolling stone
But that's not how it used to be

When the jester sang for the king and queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean
In a voice that came from you and me

And while the King was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown
    The courtroom was adjourned
No verdict was returnedWhile Lennon read the book of Marx
The quartet kept practice in the park
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music diedWe were singin'Bye, bye miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinking whisky and rye?
Singing this will be the day that I die
this will be the day that I die
Helter Skelter in a summer swelter
The birds flew off with the fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fastIt landed foul on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass
With the jester on the sidelines in a castNow the halftime air was sweet perfume
While sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance'Cause the players tried to take the field,
The marching band refused to yield.Do you recall what was revealed,
    The day the music died?
We started singingBye, bye miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinking whisky and rye?
Singing this will be the day that I die
this will be the day that I die
There we were all in one place
A generation lost in space With no time left to start again
So come on Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candle stick
'Cause fire is the devil's only friend.

As I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
    No angel born in hell
Could break that satan's spellAnd as flames climbed high into the night
    To light the sacrificial rite
I saw satan laughing with delight
the day the music died.I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned awayI went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before
But the man there said the music wouldn't playAnd in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were brokenAnd the three men I admire most
The Father Son and Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music diedThey were singin'Bye, bye miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinking whisky and rye?
Singing this will be the day that I die
this will be the day that I die

29 bottles of beer on the wall, 29 bottles of beer...take one down, pass it around, 28 bottles of beer on the wall...

How fun, thanks Dee. Kathy tell mom and dad we all said aloha and you'll have to show them my Xmas card, if you still have it! LOL.

Looks like the crew is setting up for a very nice champagne breakfast tomorrow morning.

18 bptt;a bedr om tjw wakk...18 bptt;a bedr om tjw wakk!!!!!

LOL!!  This has been FUN--will let Lori sing it down to zero--I'm ready to pass out!   Wahine--think we were posting at the same time earlier and I laughed out loud!!!  "Play that funky music, white boy" is DH ring tone on his cell.....he gets the strangest looks when it goes off in odd places and people see this "old, gray-haired geezer" grab for his cell!!!!

Taking over the mike for one of my old favorites.......drum roll......Brewer and Shipley......

One toke over the line, sweet Jesus, one toke over the line.    Sitting downtown in a railway station, one toke over the line.   Waiting for the train that goes home, sweet Mary.........

What is so special about that song is that back in the day I thought it was saying, "one TOE over the line..." so I mentally had a different interpretation of the lyrics...(another one of those must have been a blond in a previous life things....)    It took my grown-up kids and DH to educate me many years later.  sigh   Jocks is taking me out to the pool and putting me in a floatie lounge.  Hope he turns me face up--if you hear glub glub glub, someone yell at Pants or Skate to save me!!!

    huggggssssss to everyone!!!

LOL junie....I thought it was "one toe over the line" also...till now! Boy the things I learn here!!! Remember the Beatles song "Norwegian Wood" (isn't it good...norwegian wood)? Well, a few yrs ago I had to tell DH what the words were....for all these gazillion years he thought it was "isn't it good, knowing she would"! I about died when when he was SO sure he was right....LOL.

Fun night at the HTL....think I'll be sleeping in tomorrow, then partaking in that nice champagne breakfast Lori mentioned. I mean, we CAN eat breakfast whenever we wake up, right? And for those of you STILL singing....please tone it down a bit so the rest of us can sleep! J/K....after all, someone has to finish junie's beer song!

    Nite nite gals,

Thank goodness I missed karaoke.  Your ears would have never been the same!  LOL!!!  Seems like everyone's having a good weekend!  I had a glass of wine with dinner - was ok.  Tried my mom's Blue Sapphire martini - pretty good (and I don't really like gin).

I went to the obgyn on Friday.  Ended up being more confused and frustrated.  I've decided to have the hysterectomy.  The thought of having any kind of cancer in the future is scarier than menopause (although menopause really does scare me). My obgyn told me I shouldn't be on birth control - oh great because her office prescribes it.  But seriously, all the other doctors told me that birth control greatly reduces my chance of getting ovarian cancer.  Since I don't have breasts anymore, I have a very slim chance of getting breast cancer.  Plus, my cancer was not hormone receptive.  Then, the ob told me she'd do a bikini line cut....  OH WAIT... NO...  I told her I wanted the laproscopic surgery.  Well then the gyn onco that specializes in that surgery will have to do it with her.  I forgot to mention that she asked me if I delivered my children vaginally.  I reminded her I didn't have any babies (she did my 2nd D&C when I miscarried).  She apologized and I could tell she just put her foot in her mouth.  She's a really good OBGYN.  She took very good care of me when I had my miscarraige and did everything possible to see if my pregnancy was viable and had great bedside manner.  We realized that the cancer thing isn't her specialty.  Another reason to have the gyn onco do the surgery.  I looked up his hospital affiliations and he's at the same hospitals as my PS.  Hmmm....  I wonder if they'd do my fipple surgery at the same time????  One less time to have anesthesia!!!

kittycat-such decisions to make!  I don't blame you for wanting laparscopic surgery, so much less invasive and I would imagine an easier recovery.  I now menopause is scary, but most women go through some form of it and survive, and have for millenia.  Menopause effects eventually fade away; cancer doesn't.  And the hot flashes can be modified with medications if needed.  I don't see why you can't have the fipple done at the same time.  It might take some time to coordinate their schedules, but I bet it can be done--so go for it!

I'm sorry I missed the kareoke, i love to sing.  Don't know how good I am, rarely sing in public, but it's sure a lot of fun!  I opened a bottle of the Strawberry Reisling wine I made last night and I was surprised how good it tasted!  I'm givng a bottle to a friend in a basket with some homemade bread for her birthday today.

Since Breakfast means breaking the fast of sleeping time, then Yes, we get breakfast whenever we wake up, no matter what time of day it is!  I love this place!

WOO HOO Dee....FINALLY my drink of choice is the drink of the day!!! BUT since its Sunday morn, I will partake in the mimosas from the fountain today, and indulge in my Seagrams7/Diet Coke during evening happy hour. I LOVE that you give us our daily drink....I really look forward to that! I am waiting for someone to post a pic of how the HTL looked this morning or last night....what a scene it was!!! Such fun though, and thanks Dee, for suggesting karaoke. Now in the "real world" you would never catch me singing in public!!!!

kittycat, I am glad you came to a decision. Now you can go forward with scheduling your surgery, etc. And don't forget if you decide you do want children later on, that adoption may be an option. Or foster parenting(?).....I have such admiration for people that do that...so hard on them, but the good ones seem to really enjoy it and are blessed. Not sure I could do that though cause I'd love the kids, but then possibly have to give them up. Oh well...we travel too much for that option. I am raising my champagne flute of mimosas to you, for making that tough decision!!!

NM, I think we ALL need to tell you our birthdays....that basket with your homemade bread AND homemade wine sounds fantastic! I know your friend will love it. Maybe you can spare a bottle to bring to the HTL so we can all try it. Great that your efforts paid off!

Looks like junie, Lori, and HD are STILL sleeping it off...shhhhhhhhh....let's not wake them....and puleez don't anyone step on them!!! Fun, fun, party....seems like old times here at our lounge....loved it! Thank God no one gets hangovers from drinking here....

    To Seagrams Seven Sunday.....

I'm up! And was posting the same time you were Kathy, then lost it! Grrrrr...hate when that happens!

Anyways, I was saying......That I wasn't sure if I knew how the song ended, but here goes.....1 more bottle of beer on the wall, 1 more bottle of beer, take it down, pass it around......LOOK AT ALL THE BOTTLES OF BEER ON THE GROUND!

Junies last version cracked me up! And Darrell used to think that Olyvia Newton John was 3 people. The Beatles song "8 Days a Week"... I used to think was "Hey Say Louise"

Heather, glad you and hubby were able to make a decision. I had a hyst. when I was 40, but it was only partial, they left my cervix and ovaries, which is why I probably didn't have a time with menopause. You mentioned having a miscarriage, I am terrilbly sorry for that. But I truely believe they happen for a reason and I will leave it at that. You and Mark have each other, and as husband and wife, will get through this together!

I am heading over for some champagne and breakfast. Sure had some fun yesterday and last nite....WHEW!

My birthday is August 27! NM that is so sweet of you, there is nothing better than to receive a gift like that, sooooo very special.

Well, I think I will try and clean my pond out today, since it hasn't been done all winter! Can't even see my 2 little goldfish in there. Seal the grout in the green house and start organizing in there.

Wow, you would have all drank twice as much if I sang too.  That's why I hid in a dark corner last night.  All the mistaken lyrics are hilarious.  I had one song and still today think the lyrics should be what I thought they were.

Manfred Manns "Blinded By The Light"

And she was blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night
    I thought was
    Blinded by the light
Wrapped up like a douche another rumour in the night  LOL!

AStorm, sounds like you had a great time in San Fran!. Never been there myself.  Don't ya just love those kind of Days?   Kitty, hope you can get the surgeries scheduled together.  I think they pump your stomach up with gas for the lap surgery though and I don't know how that would affect your boobs.  Hope you get it all worked out my friend!  NM, you make me hungry this morning with the thought of homemade bread.  Yum!  Lori, glad you are almost done with your work.  Can you play now?  Kathy, glad your folks made it.  Hope you have a good happy hour this afternoon.  Are they coming over?  I woke up with one eye kind of swollen and my lid very painful.  Did one of you gals punch me last night.  Junie I swear it wasn't me who got you off count in the song 99 Bottles O Beer making you start over!  LOL!    I started taking my anitbiotics today,  Dee, your a good likker picker!  Have a great Sunday.  I missed Jaybird last night.  Bet she could have taught us all a song or two we didn't know.....whooooot!  Cheers to an Ear (for music)  HD

Well I have to say that even though this week has been full of drama, I would say it ended well.  We went to Arizona and helped my mom move her antique phones, her bed and other items from her house.  She now has another couple interested in buying her home (which is good because the original buyers have some lender issues).  We got home safely and my friend came over and took care of our animals.

For the first time in about a year.... I WENT INTO THE HOT TUB!!!  Woo Hoo!  I had a nice BIG glass of wine and relaxed in the hot tub with my hubby.  We haven't done that since the whole BC thing last year!  it was really nice.  :)

I'm going to call the gyn onco tomorrow.  I'm putting together some questions for him.  I read up on him and so far am impressed with his experience!  I'll make it through all of this.  Cancer is much scarier than menopause - I'm sure!

Cheers and happy Sunday to you all!  :)

I have chocolate mint, will that work?

NM, that is just so awesome all the different wines you make, I wish we could sample them all. You will have to keep a list of all the different kinds you made/make.

Heather, yes you will get through this! And we are all here with you. But after looking at your diag. I am confused as to why the hyst. if you are ER- PR-. I thought that was done on those that were positive?

Gail, The HTL is open 24/7.....so no worries there. And ya never know who might be here.

Better run.......got to make to HD's so I can tag along. Not sure what I'll tag along as, but I don't think I want to be a ball o spit! I know, I'll be a mint!

    Huggles to all.......Lori
