how about drinking?

Lori - of course you can stay!!!! Do you want to walk my crazy border collie dogs? LOL!!!
I am just scared of going into surgical menopause. Is it not that scary???

It's your favorite choice today! Drink em if you got em!

Ahhhhhh....the teen years! Unless you are blessed with perfect children, I think teen years are the hardest, on both the kids and the parents. You better be taking some of us on your "tours". And maybe we can grab a Tattie Tender or a Wench to take with us to man the wet bar! Sounds like fun to me!
HD, hope you pain is easing up and you're able to get some rest. Are all those different colors starting to fade, or are they getting more vivid?
KK, you should not be afraid of menopause. I don't think it will be too bad on you. Now when its chemo induced and you have to take hormone blockers.....NOW THAT SUCKS! I think the worst part will be the surgery, and surgery is just never fun. But you already know that. Also because you are ER PR neg. I think you might be able to do HRT? As for pooch walking, I'll walk with ya! But only while its relatively cool out. I can't handle those 100+ temps. I think Kathy's dogs are border collies. I don't mind animals, it's the hair that would just drive me bonkers. Plus we go away quite a bit, and where we live, there really isn't anyone to come take care of them. I do have 2 gold fish out in my pond!
Kathy, I hope your DH did well with what ever he had done and all is ok. Oh, I did get your email about the poochies in Phx, then forgot to email you back. Unfortunatley, I do not know anyone to take them I hope they find a good home.
Unfortunately my drink of the day is water. Suppose to load up on it for my tests tomorrow. Otherwise, my choice would be that first drink, it looks like a mohito....YUM! Doctor appt today for female things, can't wait to get in them thar stirrups! NOT. When are they come up with a different way to do this????? We will be heading out early in the morning, so I doubt I'll have time to check in.

Hi Lori, BEST of luck with your tests tomorrow! You're right...NOT FUN to have to do that!!!! Thanks for asking about my DH...poor guy....had 2 very invasive procedures...not all looked good, so will find the biopsy results next week. Was there most of the day (babysat in-between). You are close about my dogs.... Maverick (pictured) is larger and looks like English Springer Spaniel/Border Collie. His sis Molly is much smaller....looks like English Springer Spaniel/Cocker Spaniel. Looks like their mama must have gotten around! They are both black/white long haired, but Molly has the cocker spaniel shaped face and cocker spaniel ears...sooooo cute! And she is our squirrel chaser...she thinks that is her job...I just have to whisper "Molly...squirrel" and she runs to the bird feeders sooooo fast.....squirrel high-tails it outta there onto the fence or a tree! She also chases them on her own...points and stands still watching for the right moment! Doesn''t catch them....but comes close. Just glad she doesn't chase any birds away....except they all scatter to the wind when she chases the squirrel. Maverick is our "lovey-dovey" one...he lives for attention, and sticks right by us. Rolls over in a heart-beat to have his tummy rubbed and sits by me every second if we're having happy hr outside...he is closer to me than to DH...very protective! And he is the watch dog...Molly just watches for critters!
Jaybird, Just heard about all those planes being grounded in Europe because of the volcanic ash....I hope you have not been affected by it. Stay safe!!!! (And make sure you are near a bar!)
Looks like some fun drinking today!!!! To Thirsty Thursday!!!!!

Lori, good luck with your tests tomorrow. Have fun at the gyno today also. I still have to make that appt. It is going to be a few weeks away though now. Kathy, hope your DH's biopsy comes back OK. Still don't know why we have to wait so long for tests. You need a rest day today. Bring your critters and join me out at the cement pond. AStorm, sounds like you need a break from teenagers....ohhhh....I remember those days. I drink more now. LOL! Heck, there is room for everyone. Connie...NM, anyone else want to ditch work? KK, I think you will be fine with the menopause. Well, maybe not pleasant, but fine. It is harder I understand, when you get thrown straight into it, but sometimes we just don't have a choice. And a big thanks for today's likker lineup Dee.
Junieeeeeee......bring yonder yur bucket. HD0 -
Joining you HD! Gawgeous day at the "cement pond"....as Ellie Mae Dory puts it! Just came in from weeding and planting petunias...what did you say about a rest day today??? KK, when I had my hysterectomy I was 43, and didn't go into menopause right away...but did go into it earlier than I might have....was prob around 49-50 or so. I went on HT, so didn't really have many symptoms....till I got bc 2 yrs ago and went "cold turkey" on quitting the hormones. You know we will try our best to help you through it, don't ya? AND you will get pampered here by Pants, Jocks, and the Wenches!!!!
Jumping in the cement pond now...."SPLASH".....oops sorry HD...hope I didn't dilute your drink...I'm sure Pants will refill it though. What fun drinks today!

Just checking in briefly. Have had spotty Internet connection in hotel which is SO aggravating when I'm used to the almost-perfect DSL connection I have at home! Am in Detroit, on a 6-day trip. First layover in Frankfurt, then Detroit, then Frankfurt (heading there tonight). I seem to usually miss the 'bad' delays and aircraft groundings. Usually. Can't wait to get home Saturday night and then be home for 4 days. If the nice weather holds I'll be doing a lot of yardwork!
Cheers!

Lori -- everyone is welcome in bus. When i figure out how to upload I'll post a picture. And you can borrow a pet from me anytime... at present we have a sweet corgi, a not so sweet mini dachshund puppy and another orange cat besides my avatarself (I'm the cream-sicle cat).
I just experienced my first horrid night of hot flashes last night and I'm blaming it on tequila. DH talked me into a margarita last night (I only have one per month now). Of course, it could also be the tamoxifen. Yeah, I like that better.
Jaybird -- you can over my house and do yardwork. There's weeds as big as me and I used to be a 'Martha Stewart' type.

Lori - what is HRT??
I am just chillin at home! Enjoying a glass of iced tea (not wine) - saving the wine for tomorrow!

OOOH, yummy! I needs lots and lots of drinks today. Wednesday morning I get up at 4:15 am to go to work and find the fridge has died. As in dead, dead, dead, give it an honorable burial and move on. So after work I had to go fridge shopping. This afternoon the new fridge will be delivered and the dead one carted away. Cons: I've got to clean up under and behind a fridge that hasn't been moved in 30 or so years. I've got to figure out what's salvagable and what's got to get tossed. My back up account is down $500. Pros: no more avacado fridge, fridge with all the shelves intact, AUTOMATIC ICE MAKER!, energy star efficient appliance. Still, not the way I want to spend my day off. Oh well, such is life! Keep the hot tub hot for me, I'll be in later this evening, I'm sure.

Hmmmm...Where is everyone today? I guess you did not like the drink or maybe off galavanting somewhere.

Actually Dee, that drink looks sooooo "ono" (delicious) that I think I will really try to make it someday. Will let the TT's make some up later on tonight.....sounds like a good dessert drink....yummmmmmmm.... Not sure where everyone else is, I've been busy working...it is a supercalifragilistic kind of day!!! AND just got good news from DH's biopsies....everything looks fine. Had been waiting to hear from the nurse for an appt since yesterday morn....but it was good to find results out...no worries now about a later appt. So we'll be at pau hana with my parents tonight. Keep the lounge hopping......should be a crazy party there tonight, right? I mean, it is..... TGIF day!!!!
Sorry about having to "put out" for a new fridge NM....boy of all things to have to put out for...LOL. We just bought one too...for my parents garage here...although they are only here every so often, they need 2 refrigerators here....go figure! I know you'll enjoy the auto ice, and the color!!!
KK, in case Lori can't respond for awhile (she is having dr visit), "HRT" stands for Hormone Replacement Therapy....same as I put as "HT" in my post.
Lori, Hope things went really well today and everything is A-OK!!!!!
And HD, hope your bruising will subside, as well as all that pain! You sure are colorful, though. You can order the Wenches around all you want...let them wait on you hand and foot....or Pants or Jocks.....don't try to do anything yourself till you are ALL well, ok?
Till pau hana time,
Kathy

HA HA and LOL! So much for thinking I'd be in Frankfurt today/tonight - I'm in Milan! Milan was one of the few European airports open today so that's where we landed.....
Went out with some of the crew tonight, had some wine, and am now just waiting to see where we end up next.....
I still hope to get home Saturday but will set my sights on Sunday, which is more realistic. The yardwork (and mothering and poop pick-up and R & R) wll just have to wait, unfortunately.
p.s. to Gail: I'll whack your weeds as soon as I whack mine! I have some tree limbs that I have to tackle also. At what age is child slave labor allowed/not allowed???
0 -
Jaybird, I was wondering about where you would end up! Actually I thought you would still be at home, since so many flts were cancelled betwn US-Europe. Hope you are enjoying Milan! And that you can home this weekend. I really feel empathy for ALL the thousands+ travelers that are stranded because of the volcanic ash. How horrible. One time this same volcano erupted it erupted for a YEAR....hope that won't happen this time...and that the winds will die down and not carry the ash such distances. Glad you're safe though!!!! OF COURSE you can have Avery help with yardwork. My DD's still remember when they were kids and we were trying to get up the millions of small rocks in our yard when we moved to the farm....kept the scale outside and paid them by the pound. Didn't pay much though...so much for child labor...they wised up and didn't do that for very long...LOL. But at Avery's age, she would probably LOVE to rake or pick up things....at least I think she would! Enjoy your travels.....

Jaybird,
Child labor? Do you mean birth? That is the most exercise my kids have ever gotten. They pretty much just watch TV, facebook and text. I'm hoping HD will get outside and make himself useful this weekend.
NM, last month my computer died... dead dead and it was less than 2 years old and I need it for work... and to talk to you ladies. Thankfully I had just done a full system backup. Before I could replace the PC, our "million-dollar" fridge AND the washer broke. The fridge was repaired (which cost as much as the average new fridge I'm sure). Always hated the washer and was glad to see it go but it took some cash with it... then the other day we woke to no hot water. Water heater was replaced last year with one of those pricey tankless units but there was no 220 power to our house. Also resolved but I had a PS appointment and had to take a cold shower after my miserable night of hot flashes. I think my house is finished tormenting me for awhile. If not, I'll just hang out at the HTL more!

Bit of an odd TGIF day for me--heading out poolside quickly with buckets and buckets of beer on order! Jaybird--no child labor laws are violated if it is made a game or the child is paid for her work!!! LOL!!! Kids catch on waaay too early to some of our "games". Sorry that you are currently stuck in Milan--this volcanic ash thing is creating quite a mess! Have always wanted to spend a few days in Milan, but it was only a stop to change trains. First time there, it was fashion week and not a hotel room to be had in the entire region-not good planning on our part. Another time it was to change trains enroute from Venice to Dijon, France. Only problem was--we got on the wrong train entirely and ended up in Geneva, Switz. We had a lovely coach; served champagne, hot snacks; lovely meal--and much bieres! (yeah--I was stoopid enough to think what a bargain that EurRail Pass was!!!) You should have seen/heard the conductor when he finally came through to collect our tickets! It first looked to be throw momma from the train, but we had enough USD on hand to cover the horrendous cost difference of the tickets-enough to get to Geneva where we hoped to find a bank or ATM--plus, I had a friend living there, thinking we could crash and regroup. She was on vaca, traveling at the time, but we found a hotel that would accept our plastic and regrouped the next day. SO!!! Who wants to take a trip with me??!!!!
NM--know a new fridge wasn't on your list, but you will really like that ice-maker! We have a fairly new fridge that I really like. The vintage one is in garage and is so handy to keep beer cold, freeze extra stuff, hold food that won't fit in kitchen, like on holidays. But, it is making dying noises--not sure what we'll do when it gives up the ghost!
Wahine-great news on the biopsy results for DH--that's a big relief!
AStorm-have often wondered if our house was possessed--have you ever wondered that??? HUGGGSS
Hunky--wondering what colors you are today! Hope you're on the road to recovery and are fading to that sickly yellow!!!
Hope everyone has a sunny Saturday and a super Sunday!!
0 -
@ Junie -- yes, have wondered. my teenage daughter is definately possessed.
I need a lounge chair but no drinks for me... ate pork :<

I already love the ice maker! Not quite so crazy about the gunshot like noise it makes when the ice hits the bin, but I'll get used to that. I've also got to get used to wondering if the fridge is running--it's so much quieter than the old avacado beast.
When I bought the house there was a dead fridge in the basement/garage. I thought about haivng it hauled away, but then decided to use it to store paint thinner, gas cans, and other 'fumey' things that I wasn't comfortable having hanging around loose in the basement. Now that I've gotten over that particular fear, I think I may clean it out and use it to store extra paper goods and things that I don't want the mice to find, sort of an extended pantry. The door still seals well, so it will be great for that, even in the damp basement. Besides, I need the shelves that currently hold some of the extra canned goods and such for wine storage.
I took a taste of the maple syrup wine that's currently fermenting. It's a bit sharp right now, but it has promise! I need to let it fement a bit longer, the temp on the sun porch hasn't been warm enough all the time so the primary fermentation isn't quite done yet. It's currently a very odd sort of color--cloudy, yellowish/brownish. This may be a batch to bottle in green bottles, but it may look better when it clears, too.
Junie--I'll travel with you! Some of the best times I've had travelling were when the plans didn't work out or changed at the very last second. As long as I'm not by myself I can really enjoy that kind of adventure!
Astorm--I can't tell if you've had the traditional set of 3 bad things or are starting on a second set of 3 bad things, so I can't tell if you are safe for a while or need to look out for however many more crises to bring the total to 9! Hang in there, and maybe a horseshoe over the door would help?
So, what's the drink of the day today? How about Salty Dog Saturday?
Salty Dog
1 1/2 oz Gin
1/4 tsp Salt
5 oz Grapefruit Juice0 -
Girls, its Pau Hana Time!!!

NM--pack your bags!! First stop will be beach that Wahine posted and we'll go from there!!!! I surely do wish I had the means to fulfill all my dreams and take you all with me!!!! Maybe we have the winning Powerball Ticket tonight!!! Yeah, right!!
Had a bit of rain so hoping it has knocked some of this pollen down. Dh wanting to clean up deck and deck furniture and trying to tell him to wait another week or so...or, you'll be cleaning it twice!
Found a virgin bottle of Khalua in da likker cabinet...have a pint of half-n-half on my grocery list, so you might not see me for for a bit!!! (slobbering, just thinking about it!!!)
Jaybird--did you get out of Milan??? Read today that aprt was closed. If you're still stuck there, hop a train north to Como--wonderful side trip from Milan....
grrrrr....hubby says tomorrow, weather permitting, we'll go down and clean the boat from the winter dirt/crap/spider shit.......I'm like WTF--where'd this come from? Solly, Cholly, but the checkbook's in my purse--give me a pen and find someone else to scrub it down!!!! Tomorrow may be an interesting day!!! (Pray for rain!!!)
hugggsssss to everyone!!!

Nothing bad happened in my house today so I guess the storm has blown through! I did have some bad tequila the other night... I think I'll stick with HTL drinks from now on -- they never make me feel bad.
0 -
Junie--a virgin bottle of Kahlua!!!! Cause for celebration! I had to clean out the stuff under the sink to get a the water line to hook up the ice maker in the new fridge and found 2 bottles of Kahlua I made back in October, and I've got half and half, so I'm joining you int he slobbering!
Astorm--I'm so sorry the tequila didn't agree with you. I agree the drinks here are always yummy and NEVER cause hangover or tremulous tummies.
0 -
Yummmmmm NM and junie.....sounds like a Kahlua party to me! Nice that it lasts like forever! Either of you made a "tootsie roll"? Just kahula and OJ....really tastes like one. When you get tired of Kahula and Cream that is!
AStorm, my DH is now SO picky about his tequila....we used to buy just anything, now he wants the pure stuff, like Patron or CabaWawa. VERY different, smooth, and better tasting. He asked ME for Patron ($$$) for Father's Day...I am like WTH...I am NOT your father....LOL. His always broke DD surely won't even buy him a drink!! (Yeah, I know...I will prob get it for him)!!! A good discovery re his espresso coffee...he drinks a STRONG cup and grinds (burr grinder) his beans fresh every morn....was stuck on having Kona Coffee Beans...so expensive. I bought him some Starbucks Espresso Coffee (only Ground, as they were out of the beans), and he tried it today and said it was BETTER than using Kona Coffee!!! Yahoo....will finally get to save money there!!!
Yeah, Jaybird, are you still stuck in Milan? Been sooooooooo very worried about you!!! Good thing you are with the crew and not there alone. Hope you can get home soon, or take a side trip like junie mentioned. Although, I imagine all the trains are overbooked right now with travelers scrambling to get to their destinations. At least you're not their on your $$$....and the airlines should take care of your expenses...thank God for that, at least! I feel so sorry for the travelers that are stuck with no money. Let us know how you are doing!!!
junie, did it rain there? LOL. Hope you aren't stuck with boat swabbing duty today! Think DH will feel sorry for your pollen allergies and just do it all himself? (I know...I am ROFL at that comment too!). Hope you're feeling better! We're taking parents out to a crab house (seafood....lol) tonight, after happy hour at OUR house....so I need to start cleaning....
Happy Sunday to all my breast buddies here......

A somber "hello" from Milano. I was supposed to be off of this trip (and home) yesterday. We are currently 'lost' to the company (they have us listed at a different hotel from where we are) with no flight out. I'm sad to not be home (I miss the craziness of my daughter and two dogs!) and sad for the funeral in Poland and the Polish peoples' loss, I'm sad for all the recent losses here on BCO(too, too many already this year!) and more than ever before I'm sad for all the crap that the people living in third-world nations are dealing with (floods and deforrestation, unsafe sanitation, no clean drinking water, etc.). I think I've been watching too much CNN but it is the only English language station available.
Junie, if the company ever gives us an exact date out of here we can do a day trip otherwise we're kind of on a perpetual stand-by, meaning they could call us at anytime and tell us we need to leave in a few hours, thus our need to not stray too far from the hotel for too long.
But we have been enjoying the local wine, beer and prosecco/moscoto, no it's not all that bad.
Cheers to all!

Good morning gals. Sorry to you Jaybird for your stand-by predicament. What a pain in the a$$! Hope you can get home soon and monitor your child labor first hand LOL! Kathy, glad husbands tests came out OK. Worries over. Hope you have good seafood dinner and great happy hour. We don't have good seafood restaurants here for the most part. Lipo Report: I am still pretty colorful and wearing compression gear. Go to PS tomorrow mornigng to get stitches out I guess and see what he says. AStorm, save me a seat on that damn bus. I am ready to get on right now. We are looking for a new kitchen sink and faucet at present. Still trying to decide between stainless steel, cast iron, granite/composite. A lot of choice these days. Anyone have any imput, I would be glad to hear it. We have a stainless steel now that is 12 years old and looks like crap. We will be replacing the fixtures also and they are not cheap either. Oh well, it has to be done. Guess I don't have anymore to say. I haven't been feeling to happy these days. Don't know why. Maybe I will feel better next week! Hugs to all....don't mean to leave anyone out and hope you all have a great Sunday. HunkyDory

Kathy,
When I met DH he was drinking generic beer and eating cheap pizza. Now he likes imports, or really good wine, and gourmet food. I guess everything improves with age!
0 -
Jaybird, Glad to hear you are ok, and at least have lots to DRINK!!!!! Hope you can get home soon. Weird that your airlines has you listed at a different hotel....kinda makes you wonder! I remember how crazed we are for english speaking channels when abroad, and yeah, it is easy to watch CNN nonstop and see all the tragic events in the world. VERY sad.
HD, You didn't mention the pain level, so I hope it has tapered off a LOT...or else the pain meds are working really, really well. Maybe tomorrow the PS will let you out of that armor. Hey gal, you have had MAJOR surgery....normal to feel down in the dumps....hang in there, you will be your normal self soon!!!! And chill out here in the meantime and be waited on hand and foot!
AStorm, Funny about your DH! I guess you also could say meeting you introduced him to the finer things in life (you included of course!).
Sunny Sunday to all....
Kathy

HD, the bus is gassed and ready to go. Had the wet bar fully stocked yesterday and the lounge pillows fluffed. All we need is a driver. any suggestions? and maybe a destination... can we drive to Hawaii from the HTL?

ROFL.....you should wait till they finish building the bridge!!!0
