how about drinking?

There is nothing but mint in my herb garden. It is the only thing that seems to thrive on neglect and the gophers apparently don't eat it! Now I have a use for all that mint!

Wow, I take the weekend off and you all go on a rampage!
Good luck, HD, we're rootin for ya!
Kittykat - I had my hysterectomy at the same time as my DIEP surgery. Saved me weeks of recovery, not to mention the anesthesia. I'm glad you are researching the surgeon and have questions for him!
I'm doing well, we had some friends over on Saturday so went on a cleaning frenzy in the morning. Of course, I over did it and ended up spending most of the evening lying on my bed. But at least I have a clean house now!
Some lyrics to send you all on your way:
A very good friend of mine
Told me something the other day
I'd like to pass it on to you,
Cause I believe what he said to be trueHe said:
(CHORUS) We're here for a good time
Not a long time (not a long time)
So have a good time
The sun can't shine everydayAnd the sun is shinin,
In this rainy city,
And the sun is shinin,
Ooh isn't a pity?
That every year has it's share of tears,
Every now and then it's gotta rain(CHORUS)
And the sun is shinin,
In this rainy city,
And the sun is shinin,
Ooh isn't a pity?
That every year has it's share of tears,
Every now and then it's gotta rainConnie

Hi all, just popping in real quick to let you know that HD got through surgery okay. She is resting and will try to be on tomorrow. She said she will be hunkydory by then
C y'all later tater!

Thanks, Dee, for letting us know! And HD, we all can't wait for you to be hunkydory again....remember to take it easy!!!!

Dee--thanks for the update! Hunky--"one toe over the line..." LOL--baby steps for a couple of days as you heal. Guess it's time to pull out the Percotini fountain again! Let us know what else you need!
We had the 1st boat ride of the season last evening with some friends. The lake was beautiful and enjoyed cruising along and seeing everything blooming and greening up. But, the pollen really did a trick on my sinus' from being out so long and breathing it. And, have a stiff neck today from getting cold. I took a jacket with me and of course got lots of kidding for having it but as soon as the sun dropped over the hills it got COLD! I could have auctioned it off to the ladies wearing shorts! LOL. Had the windows open today to catch a nice breeze but no attic fan because of the pollen. Have had to close up totally because now there is a fire somewhere close and the smoke is adding to my breathing misery!
And, to continue my whine, think we heard coyotes howling just after dark. Will just need to keep a closer watch on Pancho when he's outside--he thinks anything that moves is his new best friend!
Gonna share one last thing then I promise to shut up....The absolute WORST drink I ever had in my life was a Mint Julep. A true, traditional Mint Julep at the Kentucky Derby (in that prior lifetime!) It was awful! Poured it out but kept the glass for many years as a souvenier of a fun, fun trip. And, no--I wasn't sitting in the stands wearing a big hat! I was one of the common folk sitting on the ground in the infield....
Gonna go drop a couple coins in the slots then mosey out to the pool. No bucket tonight, Jocks; just one cold one. You get busy getting all the needed fountains set up and flowing for tomorrow!
huggsssss to all

Miss you, HD. Hope you are having a restful night and will be back to your spunky self soon. The HTL just isn't the same without you!

I went to see the gyn onco today. I really liked him and felt really good after meeting with him. I scheduled my surgery for May 14th. It is perfect timing because it's the end of my company's fiscal year (so I can finish my sick & vacation days) and use some time if I need to go into the next fiscal year! The doctor said I should be feeling good within 2 weeks. They're going to test everything for cancer (of course), which means another pathology report! UGGHHHH!!!!! They don't suspect anything as my ultrasound was clear and my CA125 test was a 3.
Wish me luck! I've decided to try and lose a little weight before this surgery. I've gained 10 lbs since last year!

Lori - they're doing the hysterectomy because I'm BRCA1 positive and have a cyst that keeps growing (now 4.5 cm wide).

Hi all....so glad our HTL is open 24/7....as I woke up in the middle of the night and can't sleep. Glad you have your surg date set, kittycat! Sounds like perfect timing to me too.
HD, Thinking of you, and sure hope you are able to sleep tonight, and are comfortable, and taking your pain meds....OR going to the percotini fountain that junie reminded the wenches to set up for you!
junie, FUNNY about your mint julep experience! I had the opposite experience...when my mom and stepdad moved to AL after he retired in HI (he was originally from AL), they planted a magnolia tree right away. Well, when it was just about 5' tall, and we would visit AL....his big thing was to make traditional mint juleps (they grew mint just for that)....and so we would stand "under" (actually "by) the magnolia tree with drink in hand, and take a picture. Then when I moved here and would have out-of-state visitors, we would do the same thing...by this time it was a tall tree! NEVER drank them any other time...but was fun doing that. Not quite to my liking, but enjoyed drinking it anyway, just cause it was not done too often! He was SUCH a southern gentleman, so that was perfect. Hope you will use that neti pot for your sinus probs....and that all the pollen will soon be gone! I made the mistake of spending too much time scrubbing the deck, posts, shades, etc....only to have the pollen start falling the next day....yucko...yellow crap on everything!!! Of course when it rained it only made it worse....
Maybe I better try and get back to bed before I ramble on and on and on and on................. OOPS, just noticed that Dee posted our drink of the day while I was writing this. And HOW appropriate....about the stars...they are still out right now.....
Nite Nite (I hope),
Kathy

Hey, Kathy, I am not sleeping either. Can't tonight. I REALLY appreciate all the thoughts drifting my way yesterday, At one point I thought I had a spitball in my pocket....LOL!
AStorm, I can't wait to get back with it too. You girls held the place together just as I knew ya could. Texas Tea....Hmm could get dangerous. Kitty, good luck on your surgery! That means two in May or so I think. Guess I will have to jump back a couple pages to find out! HD0 -
Lost my post again! Gonna have to start making them in word and then posting them! Grrrrrrr.
HD, glad to see you back already, but sorry its cuz you can't sleep and are in pain. Like J said "One toe over the line"
Connie is having her surgery in May too, but she better learn to take it easy. Bad bad girl C. Enjoying friends in a messy house would have been so much more fun than spending it in bed in a clean house!
KK, I believe you did mention your BRCA before. I don't know much about that or if I was even tested for it.
Darn deer have been back. I have a little spot up by the warehouse/barn. I just have some transplants in there and in the middle a lilac bush, that I have been growing for about 8 years. It has just started producing flowers over the last few years. Well, that is what the deer went for. Missed some on top, so they either couldn't quite reach them or will be coming back for seconds!
Oh Junie, I sure hope your little pooch will be ok and stays away from those coyotes. We have them out here, but we don't have any pets, so only see them on occasion when driving out. Hear them all the time as a pack, howling. But when you see them, its always just 1, maybe 2!
Texas Tea.......wonder if that's the same stuff the Beverly Hillbillies found!
Lori

Thanks, now I have the Beverly Hillbillies song in my head. (And I wasn't even alive then:).
HD, glad you're back and hope you partake of the percotinis as needed. Isn't this a great bar? My client canceled for today and I'm supposed to be studying but my daughters are driving me absolutely freakin crazy so I might join you in the fountain!

Dag Nabit! Now it's in my head too! LOL
Come listen to a story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
Then one day he was shootin' at some food,
And up from the ground came a bubblin' crude.
Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.
Well the first thing you know ol' Jed's a millionaire,
His kinfolk said, 'Jed, move away from there!'
They said, 'Californy is the place you oughtta be.'
So, they loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly.
Hills, that is, Swimmin' pools, movie stars.
Well now its time to say goodbye to Jed and all his kin.
And they would like to thank you folks fer kindly droppin' in.
You're all invited back next week to this locality
To have a heapin' helpin' of their hospitality
Hillybilly that is. Set a spell, Take your shoes off.
Y'all come back now, y'hear?0 -
How is our precious HD doin'?

I am out here by the cement pond soaking up some rays. Pretty quiet here today. Got the whole shebang to myself I think. Cheers to Texas Tea...HD

Hey, Hunky--welcome back and move over, I need some warm sunshine by the pool or a spot in the hot tub, it's sunny but chilly here today. I got so spoiled by the exceptionally warm days a few weeks back.
0 -
Save me a spot I'll be there soon. Hope you are all having a great day. Welcome back HD.

That Texas Tea sounds a lot like Long Island Tea--those were pretty good! One would knock me on my butt and after two, I wasn't responsible for anything I said or did! Hunky--glad you're up and about. We've let you enjoy some quiet pool time but watch out!
Lori--our little pooch is the size of a small pony and probably weighs more than I do--and is a weird mix of scared-to-death over everything and super friendly. He would enjoy being friends with Snookie--but not laying in the snow!!!
AStorm--hope the daughter conflict has settled down-if not, meet me in the bar!!
huggssss to all....

Nope. They're still troublesome. Texas Tea time. Once you have one of these you don't have to worry about mixing your liquor do you? I'm headed for the bar!

Lori, I was following Drs orders - he said I was no longer restricted. And really, how can I know I'm over-doing it until I do?
Glad to see you are resting comfortably, HD! I like happy endings.
Yes, my next surgery is May 11. Creeping up very quickly. I haven't even finished healing from this one...but what the heck, let's get it all over with at once. I'm really really looking forward to going shopping for new clothes after I'm healed!

I noticed that a lot of us have our pets in our profile pic! Maybe there's a correlation between happy drinking people and pets!
So, I am now paranoid that I'm going to gain a bunch of weight after having a hysterectomy. One of the girls at work warned me about this. She's really nice, but very honest! Did anyone have these issues?
Lori - being BRCA1+, I have up to a 60% chance of getting ovarian cancer - lucky me. So, now that I have a growing cyst, they want to remove everything to be cautious! I am more scared about this surgery than the BMX.

kittycat, what is scaring you about the hysterectomy? I've just had one so maybe I can help a little.
My kitty's name is Copernicus. I've had her for 11 years now!

OMG Dee...I have VIVID memories of drinking these in high school (shhh....don't tell anyone!). Esp one night at my then boyfriends (later became 1st hubby) bosses house...oh were they potent (the DRINKS were potent gals...get your minds out of the gutter...LOL)! Dh and I have enjoyed a version of these that also has Baileys Irish Cream in it.....just the vodka, kahlua, and baileys.
HD, Hope today is MUCH better for you! And that your followup appt goes well. I know you must still be in a lot of pain, so keep trying to take it easy!
Have a good Hump Day gals....my DH has to have 2 procedures done today at the hospital....not fun. And I will be babysitting g'kids during most of it....busy day!
BUDEM ZDOROVY!

Connie, HunkyD had her surgeries pretty close together. So she can maybe offer up some advice, or maybe there really isn't any to give! Regardless, we are for ya and KK too. Ohhhhhh and ......... BACKATCHA!
Hey Miss Gaga, out by the cement pond....ya gotch ur critters with ya. Maybe we should call ya Ellie Mae Dory!
KK, thanks for explaining. I did not know that was what BRCA was. I did not gain any weight after my hyst. But like I said, I only had my uterus taken out.
I don't have any pets, can I stay???? PWEEZE! I had them growing up as a child, and my kids had a dog. Can I stay, can I stay ???
Great pooch description Junie....LOL!
Gail, how old are the girls? Sounds like troublesome teens? Which can be expected, especially with girls!
Happy Hump Day....heading out to the cement pond with my Russian....I mean my White Russian (the drink) ha ha!

So funny Lori. Ellie Mae Dory. I wish I had a figur' like hers. I think I will have another day by the cement pond today. I don't think Ellie Mae would have had as many options for fat harvesting as I did for the lipo and fat grafts. Just amazing the different colors you turn after lipo. Kathy is up there talking in tounges or something in her signature. Either that or I need to cut back on my drugs. LOL! Have a good day all! Even you girls working! Later! EMD

Good hearing from you HD!!! Hey, after your PS is finished, I bet you WILL have a figur' like Ellie Mae Dory's~! Hoping this will be the end of the surgeries.....or does your PS have another one in mind??? Actually, I wish mine was as much a perfectionist as yours is! Not tongues, but Russian, for "My name is Kathy".....now try to SAY IT in Russian....nah I won't even try!
Of course you can stay Lori! In fact, we will let you pet-sit when we are on vaca. My mom and I toured a no-kill shelter yesterday (The Ark)....where she rescues pets from the animal shelter, etc. BOY was that an amazing place....looked like doggy day care. The dogs get walked out to long covered grassy runs to stay awhile, then they get walked to huge covered pens on sawdust, THEN at the end of the day they go back to their individual inside pens....with soft cushions and TREATS waiting for them! I mean, my dogs would LOVE to be there....it was amazing. I wonder if they board dogs there too (wishful thinking!).....
Well, off to the hospital and babysitting.....enjoy the day, girls!

Goldie, stay.
My girls are 18 and 14. The 14 year-old is an old soul and hasn't given me too much trouble yet. The 18 year-old on the other hand... yesterday I went virtual shopping for a virtual tour bus. Tour bus = my own space + it's on wheels. I found one with a wet bar but I'll still be hanging out at the HTL for the company!

Yum-White Russians! Another fav drink! Hope Hunky didn't hurt something laughing when she saw Ellie Mae Dory--great job, Lori!! AStorm--condolences on the teen years!! I had a couple really rough years when my dau was 17/18. She was hell on wheels! We get along now, but she can still push my buttons too fast!
Heading out to the pool and soak up some rays. Hunky, I'll be careful not to splash you as I float around.
