kittykat--if it's any consolation I had a meltdown at work today, too.  Actually is was "spring institute" day, a collection of seminars, presentations by publishing reps, and included a tutorial on the new version of a web program we will be using come fall.  Well, the day started out with me hunting down where the meeting was starting since the organizers didn't see the need to provide that info--"It's ALWAYS in the Library Conference Room, EVERYONE knows that" (except last year it was in another building, and the year before it was on another campus) and the day went down hill from there.  By lunch time I'm frustrated and woud up in tears when I couldn't find a diet soda at lunch time!  Pretty bizarre, huh?  I guess it's international Women With Breast Cancer Having a Meltdown Week!

Heather, Sounds like maybe it was a good thing to have that meltdown with your boss....maybe now he will understand a bit more of what you will be going through (and have already gone through!). I hope so....cause you sure need support there at work, and not to have any worries about your job being in jeopardy. I am glad he said to trust him that it would never happen! Yeah, when feelings and fears run amok (sp?), you never know WHERE or WHEN you will breakdown. Did your mom get all settled in her new home there? I know it must be so nice having her there while you are going through all of this. I sent Pants over with several tall drinks for you.....bottoms up!

HunkyD, What a FANTASTIC "where's Dee?"! I found Waldo first, but then found our dear Dee. That was fun!

NM, SO sorry to hear about your meltdown too! That sucks. Bet you're glad the day is over...hope tomorrow will be much better! I thought you wrote "dup" on purpose!! As in emphasizing the need for spell check....LOL. Got me there! Yeah, it's so sad coming home to an empty house....try to be patient....your new baby will find you soon! In the meantime, you can have cyber hugs from all of us.... Big (((HUGS)))) for you!

Grandkids are being so sweet.....we had fun taking them around and going out to eat, then they played with the dogs. HEY WAIT A MINUTE.....just realized I missed "Happy Hour"....WTH is that all about...lol. They had so many plans of stuff to do....I am T-I-R-E-D...but happy. Got 'em in bed....now what about that party at the HTL???? I know the kids will be up at the crack of dawn, but I have a few hrs betwn now and then........

Here's to all my drinking buds!

I'm baaaacckk!   Not a winner by any means--well, maybe I am since didn't have to hit the ATM on Day Two!!!    Anyways, fun trip--but never did find the $$$ Kathy left me at the Hollywood Casino!!!  Drove home through storms--godawful rain/wind about 30 miles from home.  Basis news tonight, we may have been driving through a tornado!   All is calm now but another round is moving in.   Hope to be sound asleep when it hits--I'm really tired!!!   Will read back closely tomorrow to see what you all are up to.  Taking my bucket out poolside for a few relaxing minutes (hours) and see who's out there to chat with.

    Huggsss to ALL--play catch-up tomorrow!!!

Hundy -- Cool! Ok, my eyes are going bad... I found Dee but I had to change the resolution!

Wine class was canceled... no viognier tonight. I'm going Comfortably Numb instead.

Heather -- I told myself at the beginning of all this that I would allow myself one good cry, so I saved my meltdown for when I really needed it. I'm still holding that in reserve, but then I don't have a boss (just clients who have been very supportive). You are certainly entitled to your meltdown and maybe your boss learned a little sumpn.

NM -- I recently decided to take the CPA exam - my way of moving forward. It has also helped me focus outside myself.

wahine - my mom's house hasn't been built yet. they should be breaking ground any day now.  It'll probably be around August.  She left and went for California for a week.  She probably wanted a break from cancer drama.  LOL!

Junie - sounds like you had a lot of fun!!!  :)

Junie, YAY....you're baaaack!!! Glad you made it safely thru those horrid storms....and thankful you didn't end up being tossed around in a tornado....yikes that was tooooooo close! Hard to know what is predicted when you are traveling...or even what county you are in if you hear a weather update. That was fun yakking it up by the pool last night.......

Heather, Oops, I thought your mom had sold her home and was moving right into another one! Much nicer to be building her new home and getting what she wants. Is she staying with you till her house is ready?

Dee, OK, we found you in HD's puzzle, but now puleez show up in person! We miss you!!!

DH is making blueberry pancakes, g'kids are going out to play with the dogs.....hmmmmmmmm might be a good time for a mimosa.......

Heather and NM.....sorry about your meltdowns. Hate when that happens. I am a super big cry baby. Heather, you should have opened a bottle of whoop a$$ instead of wine!

Junie, welcome home. I guess someone else got Kathy's money. Sure glad you missed that tornado. But hey, it might have blown ya back to Tunica!

K, I'm always so jealous of the time you get with your grand babies. I SOOOOO wish I had that.

HD, you are awesome as always with your photos. Dee needs to print that one off. I found her too, but it took awhile! What fun.

Dee, come back and just say hi......please. We love and miss you girl.

    Drink for today: Aggravation!

We are staying home today and going to town tomorrow, as there is also an auction to go to! Oh yeah, my maters are good K, but the wind beat the heck outta my beans, peas, squash and cantelope ;(   We had started them from seed in the green house, and just put them out last weekend. Guess we were too early. Now we have to start all over. Guess next year we will wait longer before we put them out!

And.....after this stupid dx a few months back and being told no more drinking- got kind of ticked off. Needless to say- I have not given up my nightly pinot noir and I have no intention of doing so. So.....here I am. Cheers. Nancy

    Hi Ladies,

Just a quicky to let you know I'm doing ok. We took the dressings off this morning and I had a shower. Sure helps to feel better when you don't feel as icky.

In answer to the colonoscopy question - I have to have one every year because I've had colon cancer and I have a gene mutation which pre-disposes me to cancers. I believe the protocol for people who are low risk is every 5 years after 50 and for higher risk ones every 3 years. I think one of your Doctors should be able to figure out which risk factor you have. Please do get them at the recommended time - none of us needs to face more of the C-beast!

Off to sleep - or maybe I'll delve into the chocolate basket my MIL sent me. She got it right this time - lots of milk chocolate!

    Ciao for niao,

    Connie

Thanks everyone for allowing me my meltdown!  I've worked for my manager for several years (he hired me 11 years ago).  He moved onto another sales group and hired me into that group, so I've worked for him a total of 7-8 years.  He was probably thinking, that was a bad hiring decision!!!  Just kidding!  I've had my fair share of issues while working for him - 2 miscarraiges, losing my dad, my sister getting bc and then me getting bc TWICE!!!!!  So, I am deserving of a meltdown now!!!

Yes Lori a bottle of Whoop A$$ would have been more in order.  Love the drink.  Thanks for everything!!!!  You are awesome!  :)

Nancy - Welcome to the bar and our fun group!  I love pinot's too!!!  Have you had any Oregon pinot's?  We came across Willamette Valley about 5 years ago. Best wine tasting trip ever!!!!

Just a quick "good evening" to my breast buds!

HD.......Who is sane? Am I missing someone?

Connie, you certainly deserve some chocolate. I'll bet NM would share some of those truffles with you, if you asked real nice. (as for the colonoscopies, as UNFUN as they are, you are sooooo right, we need to get them done) I had mine!

Ok Kathy, you know we have picture professionals here....what were you trying to post?

Nancy, you don't have to ask to join, just pull up a bar stool or go grab a floatie and jump in the pool! I don't know if you have to back to the beginning for reading, but it would make for some interesting reading, for sure! I believe Junie has been here since the beginning. We are all there for one another, but most of all WE HAVE FUN! Hang around and we'll tell ya more!

NM, substitute what ever you want, just don't let your dup runneth over!

Heather, hope the meltdown helped....they usually do! As for "fair shares", you've had MORE than enough girl.

    Junie.....you still reading?

Huggles to all my girls and Nancy too............Pants, get that girl a glass of Pinot!

Too hard to catch up when I miss a few days!   A big welcome to Nancy!  Hope you'll pop back in--we have some great parties here....speaking of which, when is the next one?

Meltdowns are very therapeutic--lord knows I've had quite a few!  Jocks is icing down my bucket and I'm headed to the pool...need to get a tad tipsy to ignore the rain that is pouring right now--another 2-3 inches predicted tonight on top of the 2 we got yesterday.   We may have trouble navigating low areas tomorrow, but have all the "necessaries" on hand in case we're stuck for a few days.   Always something!!!   Hope everyone has a great sunny Saturday!!!!

I say it's time to have a Melt Down party!  Let's celebrate the expression of honest feelings to idiotic, insensitive, stupid people!

On a side note, there is now a 2 year old yellow lab/hound mix on the floor beside me, name of Sadie.  We're trying each other out for a week.  Very pretty, very smart girl--I think we're going to work out ok!

NM, How sweet to have already found Sadie (or she may have found you first!)....hope it works out to be a perfect fit for both of you!!! The meltdown party sounds like a good idea! Just mention it to the TT's and they will take care of everything.Wink

Nancy, Welcome to the HTL....there are cool pics of how we designed everything......but several, several, several pages back! Drink all you want.....the Tattie Tenders and Wenches are at your beck and call......casino is free....there are mimosa, percoset, and also martini fountains...swim up bar.....etc. Stay awhile and get to know us....we're a good bunch of gals (my opinion anyway!).

Junie, Puleez don't send that rain our way...maybe it will dissipate...hope you aren't getting too much! Taking the g'kids to soccer practices and games in a few minutes....will be in the sun all morning....boy are we tired! We get to sleep tooooo late to be up at 5 and 6 am...... DH mentioned "having the kids over sure is hard work"...lol....but HE doesn't do the baths, etc! I think it is wearing us out because we just had the others over right before these. Needed more time in-between! Mom leaves a week from today and there is so much we want to do this week....want to take her out of town to see friends she hasn't seen in years, etc. Time has flown!

Happy Sunny Saturday To Us Sassy Gals!

Anyways, we are off to the auction but wanted to say I saw a drink yesterday, (I think it was yesterday) called a Meltdown Margarita. I think we should have those if we are having a Meltdown Party!

I've been feeling like I need to blow up something. Sometimes I use totems or fragments and burn them but I've been warned that this can bring bad juju so I haven't done it in awhile and things are starting to amass. I actually find it quite cleansing. It is a way of getting the stuff out of my life and making room for good things. Anyway, I've got a stash: a part from my broken washer, a truancy letter from my DD's school, mastectomy bra, receipt for the roadservice call from the dead battery, broken switch from refrigerator, a bill for my windshield deductible, bill for new vacuum cleaner ... I'm thinking it's time to head for the desert and have a little bonfire.

I think I was led to Sadie.  I saw a dog online that I wanted to look at, she was at a shelter about an hour from me.  When we got there (a friend went with me) the shelter had closed 10 minutes earlier.  My friend knew another shelter was in the general area, we got directions, and that one was still open. Had 3 dogs, a german shepherd with issues going to a  German Shepherd breed rescue organization for special handling and placement, a big black furry thing that snapped at me, and Sadie.  She is just so beautiful, strikingly pretty.  We pretty much chose each other within 30 seconds of meeting.  This shelter has a "Slumber Party" program--adopted dogs go home with adoptive parents but the adoption isn't finalized for 1 week.  The shelter doesn't process the fee, gives copies of the medical records (in case of emergency), and lets the dog and family take a week to make a final decision.  If it doesn't work out the dog has to be returned to the shelter and info given about the dog's behavior during the time in the home.  Sadie had been surrended by a family that couldn't afford her keep anymore.  She had a 4 day "Slumber Party" with a foster family with a child with ADHD and did pretty well but was having a hard time dealing wiht the child's constant petting/playing/tugging/pulling/pouncing on her so the foster mom cut the visit short before Sadie could become too aggravated/upset.  She's crate trained, housebroken, spayed, all shots up to date, de-flied, de-wormed, de-everything.  She's also very smart.  This morning I tied her out to potty and stretch while I put on coffee and generally woke up, left the kitchen door open so she could come back inside whenever she wanted.  I didn't realize she had gotten a little tangled until she picked up one of my crocks sitting just outside the door, looked at me to make sure I saw her with it, took it off the deck and put it on the ground, and came back to the door.  When I went out to retreive the crock I discovered she was tangled, untangled her and let her in. She looked VERY pleased with herself.  We just had a lively game of fetch with new tennis balls outside, then came inside and had a lively game of fetch with her battered sqeaky toy.  Then she went into her crate and is currently stretched out taking a nap.  She LOVES belly rubs.  She takes treats very gently.  I've re-arranged the entire living room to make room for her crate.  I picked up a new tag with her name, my name and phone number engraved on it.  I don't think I'm going to need a whole week to decide if we'll get along.

NM -- congratulations! Ok, if it's engraved it sounds like she's a keeper! We once had a dog from corgi rescue that didn't work out (they told us it was a male and it was female and didn't get along with our female corgi). She was a sweet dog but she wanted my attention and my dog was really jealous and would attack her if she got near me. I felt really bad about sending her back but one day on my way to a client's office, I saw this corgi that looked like her (down ears which are really unusual) so I pulled over and sure enough, it was the same dog! She remembered me too. Her new person was an elderly man who had recently lost his wife. Corgi resuce told him about me and I had gotten a couple of follw up emails. He thanked me for giving her up because she was meant for him.

Had a kitty mishap this morning. Not sure what happened exactly but DH says he ran into the house at full speed and slammed his head into the glass door in the pantry. Then he ran back into the garage and hid. This cat is always in my lap but I called him and searched for an hour before I finally found him hiding by the furnace. Now he is really skittish and runs and hides every time there is a sound. Maybe he is just embarassed?

AStorm:  I can't imagine how hard it was for you to take the Corgi back, and so glad you got to find out first hand that it worked out so well!  And your poor kitty!  Is it possible for a kitty to damage it's hearing with a hard knock on the head?  Sometimes with dogs a hard knock on the head can cause sound sensitivity by damaging the ears or irritating the part of the brain that processes sounds.  If kitty isn't better by Monday maybe a call to the vet would be in order.  But probably it's just kitty being embarassed or a little rattled.  Hope he's better after a good night's sleep!

First I'd like to say I love you all on this thread - so upbeat and fun but at the same time supportive. It seems more like a vacation from bc's non-stop worries and wonderings and yet being in this boat all know what everyone is going thru when bc and its life details pop up. Oh shoot that doesn't really make a bit of sense and nope haven't had a glass of wine or anything.... perhaps that is the problem.

I am so glad you found Sadie- she sounds lovely and just who you need. My little dog is 14 and I can't imagine being without her.

I also have a cat and since he doesn't seem to be hurt I'd vote for embarassed. Cats are so goofy. Ours loves my daughter but if she isn't around will pick up someone else for a bit but as soon as my daughter returns then she bites, not too hard, and looks at you like why are you sitting next to me.

Astorm -  Being in the Las Vegas area, we camp in the desert, so I know a lot of good spots to have a burn!!!  :)  There's a few things I'd like to burn, too.  I have a whole drawer of bras that I don't know if I'll wear.  I started wearing a normal bra until I got this d&$% cancer again!!!  I just took a ton of stuff to Goodwill.  could probably take a lot more!

I hope your cat is okay.  Our dog ran into a start/finish gate when we used to have them play flyball.  He was okay, but took him a while to get over it!

Stanzie - do you want a glass of wine or a cocktail.  I can make you a pomegranite margarita.  That's what I had today out by the pool.  Feel asleep until my dog started barking inside!!!

NM - I hope Sadie works out for you.  Dogs are so wonderful and loyal.  :)
