Ooooooo that sounds and looks so yummy. I sure wish I really could try a lot of these drinks!

On the next page, so I can't go back and look. Beans, was it you asking about the 3 way ski? What do you want, Jocks behind you and pants in front? LOL! And aren't you starting chemo too?

NM, I am gonna have the boys take the bus in for a check. Make sure it's already for your day, so we can all be there. We'll even bring Sadie along for you. Have you been making anymore wine?

HD, that's what you get for staying away for so long! Did they come pick up your extra sink and bring you your drain?

Dee.........just shouting out to ya! We miss you! Come out for a swim, or ride on the lake.

Not so sure about all these beer filled garbage cans around the pool! Could we find something a little more attractive? I have pictures in my mind of those galvanized cans sitting around the pool! LOL.

Heather, might as well enjoy as many nice cool drinks as you can until Monday. Hope you are staying cool out there! You must stay in the house all summer long! Do you have a mist system?

I bottled pineapple wine last weekend, have blueberry and black current wines "cooking."  These will need to ferment for a few weeks, than a friend will help me with the decanting, filtering, etc and bottling when their ready.  And thanks for bringing Sadie on the bus--she is sooo entertaining you will all love her and a good laugh is good medicine, right!

Dee--a shout out--will you be ready to take over the drink of the day posting in a couple weeks?  Or should I make up a plan and give it to the Tenders and Wenches?  Hope you're doing well!

AStorm, If you are conducting any kind of research on drinks...please count me in but, I do not want to be in the control group.  P.S.  Your daughter must be pretty smart!  HD

Heather - I can't believe they didn't even offer to set you up with some tequila shots in that port! I've heard that HTL cocktails disolve cancer cells. I've heard the perco-fountain is pretty effective too.

HD, you're in! And yes, she's too smart for her own good. My 14 YO is in a prep school (sophomore next year) where they are required to take a minimum of 6 AP courses to graduate (more is recommended). Next year she has AP Spanish, AP World History, and AP Studio Art, along with Algebra II, an intense English/Lit class, and Chemistry. That ought to keep her out of trouble :)

Did my round of docs the past two weeks and it looks like more surgery for me. Probably a revision and almost certainly D&C (insisted on an ultrsound first). Keep those juicy drinks flowing!

quick pop in then back to clean up job....bathroom finally DONE; thrones installed and working well (no more jiggling handles and taking off the top to attack the innards to get them to stop running!!!--happpy day!!).  'Spensive endeavor, but ohhhh, so nice to look at (and use!).   Now on search for new towels/rugs to finish it off......any suggestions?   I've been looking at some that are made from bamboo and the Egyptian cotton ones.   Holy moly--one set I looked at would have been $500 for a set of 4 towels/hand towels/face cloths.....don't think so.......Any suggestions from you all????

Kitty--sorry your chemo has been held up--but maybe that is good until everyone gets their act together--that Adriamycin isn't called the Red Devil for nothing!

Loved the trash-can size idea for the beer, but even though they didn't look bad, I'm too short to fish my cans out of the bottom of the barrel.....sigh!

Big hugggssss to all....will catch up more tomorrow......

kittycat - Well I am so sorry to hear it sounds like you had an awful time... to be there all ready and your DH took the day off and all, man, that's just the pits. I've had a lot of delays but haven't actually gotten as far as to the oncs for tx. Anyway, it sounds like things are getting sorted out for you, so good luck (again) with your first tx. I will be wishing you so so so so well. BTW, I got a call from the place that does the oncotype dx test today and they still don't even have my specimen for testing yet. It'll be 10 to 14 days from the time they receive it...So I doubt if I'll be ready on the 22nd either. Plus I just keep having so much fluid in this JP, I don't think it'll ever come out. Aaarrrggghhh! A white peach mojito sounds like something I need at dinner too. Thanks for suggesting it!!!

wahine - such a great magnet, made me laugh, "cancer sucks" in Spanish, that is a good one! JP has been hangin out for 16 days now. Wow, 5 weeks, you must have gone crazy. The BS says he won't leave mine in past 4 weeks, so I guess the max I'll have it is 4 weeks. The good news is nothing looks infected and I seem to be healing up okay. I just can't sit still, but I've been trying to use that arm as little as possible. Yeah, I can use all the beauty help I can get and wish I were closer to Earleen. I may have to reconsider and get a better wig, but for now it makes me and DH laugh so that's good. When I pulled it out he said, "I dream of Jeanie!" The hair is longer than my own but not too far off from my color. Somehow I think I may be happier with a more modest doo, though. They also have a short pink wig I thought would be fun and totally different - ha, ha! I did find something through ACS, Look Good Feel Better so have signed up for that help. $219 for a dyson sounds like you got a gooooood deal, so I think I'll keep shopping around. It is so beautiful in WA but the weather gets to ya. It's been all cold and rainy again. I wish I could move to where you are, my DB has talked about retiring there some day. It sure sounds like paradise. I love looking at all the animals. We have so many deer and many different kinds of little birds, plus sea gulls, ducks, geese, raccoons, bunnies, even bears and occasional cougars. I shouldn't complain cuz I love it here but this gray & rain gets old!!!

HD - glad you popped in and thanks for the sympathy and advice and prayers. I will try to just sit here and do nothing. When DH comes home I will tell him I did nothing all day. Can I do dishes n stuff? Or really, just nothing? Ug!!! Hope you are busy with fun stuff and can chat more later. Take care. Cancer Chupa!

NM - Oh, boy you have a lotta funnies today and I really need that White Peach Mojito this eve so now I have the recipe - hurray. I love the non-patient patiet magnet and definitely need that when I see my BS next as we've had a few go rounds. He's a nice man and we've worked it out, but he has his way of doing things and I ask too many questions. Yes, the JP is annoying and it bothers me. It's only pain if you acknowledge it (I heard that on TV watching a documentary on training Marines). Okay, it does hurt too. The max I will have it is 12 more days. If it slows down I can get it out sooner. Where can I get one of those Foxtrot Union Charlie Kilo Cancer t-shirts? I need one to wear just all the time. That is so funny. Wow, you are really getting close to recon, you must be getting so excited. I'm excited for you too. You'll proly get that done before I lose ol' JP - ha, ha!

goldie - ha, ha, ha, No it wasn't me doing the 3 way, but I know who it was...my chemo has been delayed due to JP, healing all these surgical wounds across my entire chest and armpit, and waiting for oncotype dx test results. As of today, it's looking like June 28 to start. Just waiting, trying not to move around, and going crazy. Thank God for that White Peach Mojito, it's going down real smooth and makes me happy.

Astorm - So sorry to hear you may need more surgery. You can complain more if you'd like. I've been complaining an awful lot lately about all kinds of things. I'll be wishing you the best.

junie - too cool, nothing like a well working throne. I've been getting towels and shower curtains at Bed, Bath & Beyond, but then I'm always on a tight budget for rehabs. Last time I just ordered a bunch of things on line and had them delivered which was nice. Good luck with picking that stuff out, I think it's so fun.

junie--check out overstock.com  They have a lot of nice stuff and signficant price reductions.  The inventory tends to come and go so it pays to check in periodically, but I've gotten some nice bargains there.  Congrats on getting the bathroom done!  Must feel really good!

beanie--I got the t-shirt at cafe press (www.cafepress.com)  There is a load of stuff on that site that is hilarious and fun, as well as expressiive! And I pray you get that eFing drain out in less than 10 days!

Someone needs to stop me! I finally got a hand-held steamer and  discovered that my floors are far more disgusting than even I imagined. No wonder the maid stopped coming. Guess this is what happens when you rely on a man and a couple of teenagers to do the cleaning for a year (I can't beleive its almost a year!). I started with the dining room and the kitchen is next... but my shoulders are aching so I'm just taking a little break with a nice glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc... mmm honeysuckle nose and tart grapefruit in the mouth...

Astorm - I would LOVE to have mojitos in the chemo suite any day over chemo!!!  I could just get really drunk and go home and pass out!  I might have a hangover the next day, but heck it couldn't be worse than the chemo SE's!  LOL!

Lori - I don't have misters.  We were talking about getting a patio cover for our courtyard and getting misters.  We do have a pool though.  I haven't been able to go in it completely because of this port! I can sit on the "beach" bench!

NM - that peach mojito looks even better than the one I had last night!  Yummmm!!!  I love that button!!!

Beanius - sorry to hear you might be further delayed.  Sounds like you're in good spirits though!

So, I decided to see the dermatologist today.  She's the only doctor I haven't seen in 2 months.  She lectured me for not seeing her in 2 years.  She cut out a mole off my back.  She tells me, "If you don't hear from us in a week or so, then you have nothing to worry about.  Hopefully we get clear margins."  OK - you don't talk about "margins" with cancer patients!!!  Now she wants to see me every 4-6 months since I've had suspicious moles and breast cancer!

Don't let them scare you, Heather. Statistics are just numbers in this new reality. My gyno wanted me to get a tetanus shot, among other things. I asked what the risk of my stepping on a rusty nail might be... she couldn't tell me but suspected my risk of endometrial cancer is much higher than the nail so I should really think about that D&C. I'm prioritizing getting my house in order and then they can start looking for another problem.

Well I've broken 3 fingernails but my cats are loving the clean floor. At first I thought they smelled something I didn't smell but maybe the floor was still warm or something.

That's funny about your cats.  My mom's cat was walking through every area that I mopped the other night.  She's a little booger!  My cat Shakira was chasing her all over the house this morning.  Karma!!!

Hey ladies, I started checking out your posts last week because I fit right in, and Heather and I discovered that not only are we seeing the same onc but we live just a few miles down the road from each other... happy coincidence!  This board is so refreshing... literally!!!  Hahaha... really, I think I want to come here from now on.

I'm doing TCH (Taxotere/Carboplatin/Herceptin) X 6, then herceptin only every 3 weeks for the rest of the year.  I've finished treatment #5 and I'll start rads sometime in July/Aug.

Heather, I wanted to tell you that I have cats and dogs... 3 of each!!  They sleep with us and I even have a puppy (an 8 month old Yorkie that I'm STILL trying to potty train!!!) and I've had absolutely NO problem getting sick or anything.  Dr. Allison knows we have tons of pets and she's never been worried about it...even knowing the dogs sleep in the room/on the bed (and of course the cats do whatever they want!)  The pets actually give you lots of love when you're feeling rotten :)

Are there any "animal house" theme drinks?!

I keep forgetting I have a  steam cleaner--I"ll have to make good use of it just before leaving for Boston.  Mine's a Euro-Steam, but I've heard of a Stanley Steamer cleaners, so for the drink of the day I submit:

    The Stanley Steamer

    1/2 oz Coffee Liqueur
    1/2 oz Cognac
    1 dash Grand Marnier
    1/2 oz Irish Cream
    12 oz Coffee
    1 squirt Whipping Cream

Has the benefit if caffienated beverages for morning energy jump starting!

PS--somewhere on the boards is a link to a service that provides housecleaning for women getting chemo--anyone remember where that is?

    Edited to add:

Found it!  MBJ posted this in the TE thread earlier this month:

"Have you heard of the non profit group Cleaning For A Reason? I believe they are nationwide and provide women undergoing cancer care to get 1 free cleaning a month for 4 months. You have to fill out a form on line and also fax a brief dr's note stating that you are under a dr's care for breast cancer and then they try and find a service close to you."

Welcome to our lounge, Melanie! What a neat coincidence that you and Heather live so close and have so much in common! Are either of you attending the TaTa get-together in Vegas this year (I think Heather went last year?)....it'll be in October I think.

NM, GREAT drink!!! I love my DH's Irish Coffee, but this one sounds so yummy too. Think I'll have Pants make it and see which one I like better...(the DRINKS gals, the DRINKS....not Pants or DH...LOL).

You all are making me feel like my house is dirty...have not used the steamer on my kitchen floor in awhile...I hate that floor, so as long as I quickly mop it, I just ignore how it looks! I know I'll feel differently once I find the time to replace it. I gave up asking DH to mop it....he'll tell me he mopped it and I find out he used a damp paper towel under his foot and just moves that around...LOL. But he cooks a lot and usually does all the dishes, so I am not complaining!

HD, I miss your posts...nice to see you back here, but I need LONGER posts from you....miss your humor, and knowing that you are okay!!!

junie, SO glad your throne room is finished!!!! YAY!!! And glad you like the results. If I see any deals on towels, etc., I will let you know! What color are you considering? We still need to get someone to do repairs outside...eaves, rotten wood, painting up high, etc....so scary as we always get burned from contractors. But once we get that done, I want to do upgrades inside.

Everyone else...I love how our lounge has grown, and read ALL the posts, and hope and pray and drink with everyone!!! Can't respond to all, or I will take up pages and pages with just 1 post! Lori, good hearing from you also!!!

To the Stanley Steamer (and may it show up during the night and clean my house while I drink in its honor!),

    Kathy

Welcome welcome Lady Madona. How nice that you and Heather are so close! Have ya's met? Hope you stick around, we have SOOOOO much fun here!

Ok Beans...sorry for the mistake. I went back looked, ASTORM is the one wanting a 3-some! I mean a 3-Way. Hmmmm, they both sound the same! Tongue out  As for wigs, I got 2 at TLC. www.tlcdirect.org They are very reasonably priced and look good. There is a picture of me, well lots of pictures, on my profile with the two I bought. And you or Heather, or anyone else is welcome to them. Just let me know, I'll send your way. I also have some of the shampoo and conditioner.

Its a good thing we put in that animal park here at The HTL, as I see we have more fur babies coming in. Maybe we should hire a pooper scooper. I'm certainly not volunteering, especially since I don't even have a fur baby!

Junie, I can just see you with your head way down in the bottom of the garbage can, arse in the air and your feet dangling off the ground...trying to reach a beer! LMAO! I got some of my towels and Bed Bath and Beyond, but would wait until I got a coupon in the mail for 20% off. Then I would have to wait until I went down to Phoenix to buy them. I think Target might have a decent selection with decent prices. But I'm with you, $500 is pretty expensive for towels and rugs!

Kathy, I think dad is getting results today. Praying for good things, let us know. Hope you're enjoying those GK x 2 for me!

NM, that sounds like a nice morning drink. Think I'll take mine and go sit by the lake and listen to the birds. I am putting an order in for the boys to go out and get us a nice cedar swing to put out there by the lake.

    GAWD I LOVE THIS PLACE!

REALLY nice wigs, Lori! I hope one of our gals here can use them!!! So nice of you to offer them to the girls. My dad's MRI was postponed till today, and he had the EEG earlier this wk. But I think they won't know ANYTHING till sometime next week...big bummer about that. My mom lost her appetite too, with all the worry. The MRI place will transport them, since it is in Honolulu, and w/ traffic so bad there, my mom doesn't drive into the city. SO, its nice that ins will cover that. Thanks again for all the concern, we are not out of the woods yet!!!

    Hola!

Welcome to all our new drinkin' buddies!

I'm in Barcelona just starting my happy hour. (it's 7 p.m. here) Bought 3 Spanish reds today, two to take home and one for tonight. Enjoying some Spanish cheese, too.

Been too busy to write. Just work and Avery and the yard and everything else inbetween, nothing unusual. I've been working too much but it pays the bills so how can I complain?

I think my 50th birthday 'bash' is going to be a bust so I may just take Avery to NY for the day and stay near the city and then drag her all over Manhattan. Maybe. Depends on the weather. Are there better ways to spend your time than with your daughter? Laughing

Now, ya'll don't work too hard (Lori!) and happy heart vibes to the chemo girls!

    Cheers!

I want to be in Barcelona! Welcome new drinkin buddies. That cedar swing sounds great right now. DH is in the backyard with the music blaring and it is not something I would listen to if given a choice... and DD2 is asking for a ride to friend's house... don't know where DD1 is which is probably a good thing.

Lori -- love the pix! Both looks are sooo cute on you! Haven't had any chemo but I was thinking it would be a good time to try out new hair styles. And, hey! get your mind out of the gutter... I just thought I might need more than one ski instructor since I am so awkward in water (you know, being a cat and all).

NM  - thanks for the Stanley Steamer!

and yes, we need more hunkydory. Miss the little monkey too.

Jaybird---Hola!   Como esta?   would love to go back to Barcelona--but Venice comes first!!!

Lori--great pics of your wigs--would never know they weren't your real hair!   I named my wigs also--can't tell y'all their names--nicest name was, "Slut".......'nuf said.   Would be happy to pass them on but they have since been used for too many halloween costumes by kids/grandkids...not even sure where they are.  Think there is only one pic of me in a wig and only one of me bald...never thought at the time to chronicle the baldness with pics.

Thanks to everyone for shopping suggestions.   I am totally an on-line shopper--love Overstock.com.    To actually shop in a store requires a major drive and a trip to the closest Wal-Mart is easily a 3-4 hour trip (driving/shopping/grabbing a bite to eat).....grrrrr--living in the boonies does have its drawbacks.

Welcome to the newcomers.  There's an endless supply of barstools at the HTL.  Stick around--there's bound to be a big partay soon!!!   Grabbing my iced-down bucket of ML and hitting the casino (gotta pay for that friggin' bathroom!!)

EVERYBODY--have a fabulous week end!!!   hugggggssssssss to ALL!!!

Lori - your wigs are so cute on you!  Thanks for the offer.  My sister passed on "The Dog" to me (that's what she calls her wig). I also have a few ordered at the wig salon.  It's funny because I tried on a bunch of styles.  I have always told my hairdressers that I don't look good in layers.  My face is too long and they don't look right.  Well, it was confirmed when I tried on some wigs with layers.  I even tried on a bob, which was funny to see.  My hair hasn't been short in 25+ years!  I finally got it to the length I want it, too!  Oh well!

I get to meet Lady Madonna in person tomorrow!  Woo Hoo!  Maybe we can join up with some of the gals in Vegas this year.  I think they're coming out the same weekend as my birthday.  I should be done with chemo by then.

I got a call from my onco's office.  They are running that same test, the MUGA scan, on me Monday morning at one of their offices.  The nurse told me that if my heart is still below normal on th ejection fraction, she's going to give me Cytoxan and Taxol (no Adriamycin).  I'll keep y'all posted!

I sure wish you could all be there with me, when I get my head shaved.  We could have a serious partay!!!!!

nobleanna-- Allen's Coffee Bandy--the Official Maine Drink!  Yes!  It is an acquired tasted, but at the price, an easy one to acquire!  Welcome to the lounge!  I have this thread on "my favorites" list so I have no idea where it is--pretty bad for a site I visit at least once a day.

wahine--my theory, as a single person, is that whenever someone else does cleaning or whatever, I don't even look to see HOW they do it, I just enjoy the fact that it's done and I didn't have to do it!  Since I've been redirecting all my nervous energy into housecleaning before I go to Boston my house hasn't been this clean in years!  And I suspect it will have to last for years before I do all this detail stuff again. . .

goldi--good idea about hiring a pooper scooper--I'll get right to work on that.  Got cedar swings on order, and also a few rope chairs/swings/lounger thingys that are soooo comfortable!

    Love the wigs--you look great!!!!!!!!!!!

AStorm--Barcelona!  Oh, my!  Can you post pics?  I've become a viciarious world traveler through you!

Jaybird--We'll have a 50th bash for you--we need another excuse for a party!  What kind of cake do you like?  How many cakes would you like?  I'm sure the Tenders and Wenches can meet any order!

kittykat--I'm glad the onc's office is going to run the MUGA again, this time the results will be more trustworthy, I hope!

Hi and welcome Nobleanna! I believe we are on the humor and games thread. But like NM, it in on "my favorites" and the only one I post on! And that is pretty much daily! We try to have a "drink of the day" which Dee usually posts, but she is away for just a bit, we hope it's just for a bit anyways....and NM kind of took over. She is having recon in just a little over a week, so we will need some help with those drinks!

Heather, that is awesome that you and Lady Madonna are going to get to meet! I know you can post pics on FB, so if you do...and ok with both of you, I will put in here. Unless Lady knows how. I got my hair cut short at first, then Darrell shaved it 2 weeks later when it started to fall out. He said it was the hardest thing he had ever done.

Naming your wigs.....that is funny! Dog and Slut LMAO! Never occured to me to do that. I used the short blonde one the most and got the longer one later. I got so many compliments on the blonde one. People always said stuff to me like "oh you didn't lose your hair from chemo" they just couldn't believe it was a wig. I had long strawberry blonde hair, so I thought why not try something I would have never done with my real hair! Short, blonde and sassy!

NM, the swings are great, thanks for hammock swings too. Oh, and its Jaybird that's in Barcelona not Astorm, altho I bet she wishes she were!

Junie, I totally know what you mean about online shopping! I do have Wal Mart one hour away, but everything else is 4 hrs, one way! We even bought my Toyota FJ on line, and our quad.

K, still praying for dad. And I can't blame your mom for wanting someone to drive them to Honolulu......that place is crazy! I would never have believed it if someone had told me that it was just like some big city like NY or LA or something. It certainly doesn't look anything like the rest of Hawaii!

Well, I am taking my "Bastard" and heading out to the swing. Anyone care to join me? HD...git ur butt over here.
