Kitty, do you have a treatment plan in place? Will you be going to NY for your treatments?

Beans, aren't you getting ready to do chemo?

NM, posting the same drink......Great minds think alike!

I am actually looking forward to going back to work this morning. Worked outside all day Sat & Sun, could have done the same on Mon, but really needed to get some cleaning done. So, spent most of Mon cleaning. I have a dozen bug bites, and at least 3 on my face. CUTE.....NOT!

Gonna go grab me some of that dehydration! Oh....the other wench is Sugar, NM.

Hi gals! Took all day driving, but we finally got to Asheville. The B&B is fantabulous!!!! Our suite is called the "William Morris Room"  and is designed in the arts & crafts style, with authentic wallpaper,f/p,jetted spa, shower w/ more jets than I have ever seen, steam room, and our own private garden to sit in! In the front garden, there is a garden statue of a dog with his leg raised...when you walk by, he "pees" (into a bowl...becomes a fountain!)...so hilarious. Having wine with the owners in the "big house" in a few minutes. What a life! Can't wait to meet Earleen tomorrow...and get my tatts!!! She sounds like such a dear. Was so beautiful driving through the mountains...must stay longer next time...just 2 nights for this trip. (And tomorrow night is in a cheaper place...LOL).

Kitty, Good nutritionist info...all stuff we SHOULD be doing to stay healthy! I love ginger, and use a lot of fresh grated o rpowdered ginger in cooking, and love to eat the pickled type w/ sushi, and the candied type is just good anytime!

Hope all my drinking buds are doing well tonight! Think I need to get a bit hydrated too....drink sounds yummy NM!

kittycat - oh, puppy pee, you make me miss my old cat. I had adopted him from a shelter and he had kidney disease and he got really old and had trouble getting to his box. He was such a sweet cat and I miss him. Haven't got any pets now. Thanks for your nutrition info. I'm workin on that stuff too. I've been practicing drinking a lot of water before chemo starts. I've read that nuts are a good food for chemo patients and also that pistachios are a comfort food - ooooooey - I could eat a lotta pistachios. I made a homemade cream of veggie soup with leeks, garlic, mushrooms, carrots, potatoes, organic veg broth & fat free milk. I think we're supposed to stay away from potatoes though. Do you know if potatoes or pistachios are no nos? For snacks I'm eating plain almonds, raisins, dry apricots & trail mix. Trying to get in more just raw veggies like broccoli, carrots, etc.

NM - the banana adds a healthy kick, lots of fluid and healthy banana too. Good choice.

Goldie - I just met with my onc again today and I am finally scheduled to start chemo next Tues, June 8. I must be totally insane to be excited to start. I think it's cause now I get past all the cutting. Oh boy, no more surgery for now, I'm graduating to chemo!! I will get Taxotere and Cytoxin every 3 weeks and doctor guarantees I'll lose my hair. I guess I'll cut it off and send to locks of love. DH is going to shave his head with me and I'll have to figure out something to put on my head. It's still rainy and cool on the northwest coast here, still sweater weather, so I'll proly need something warm for the ol bean at night. LOL! Hope those bug bites go away soon - I bet that banana drink will help.

wahine - more dog pee?? Arts and Crafts era is my favorite. We've been collecting that type of furniture for years, but we have a modern house. I like the old ones better. That B&B sounds wonderful. Hope you have a great trip.

I don't need a statue of a dog peeing... I have my faithful friend Mocha (aka Monkey) that will pee on command!  He is such a bad dog, but we love him so much!!!  The B&B does sound awesome!

I don't know when I'll start chemo.  I'll find that out this Thursday.  I'm going to have it here in Vegas.  I found an onco that I really like.  I fired my breast surgeon.  I guess no one called him and told him he wasn't putting my port in because his office called today to confirm my appt with him tomorrow.  I called them and told them that someone else was doing it.  My port is going in on Friday.  I am hoping I can start chemo immediately because my sister is getting married in September and it would suck to miss her wedding!

Lately I feel like this crazy patient that goes through doctors like a young guy afraid of commitment!!! LOL!  At least I love my plastic surgeon and dentist (hmm...  both doctors that care about you look and feel)!  :)

Beanius - good luck with chemo!!!!

Huggssss to Bean and Kitty as you gear up for chemo...I was terrified of chemo, but it wasn't as awful as I thought it would be.   Was lucky with no nausea--managed a couple beers a night and an occasional glass of wine--with onc's approval.......being bald was weird but fun!   When told I'd lose my hair--I just thought of my head--I lost EVERY hair on my entire body!--now, that WAS weird to deal with!!!  (funny story about my pubes being the first hair to go--scared me to death; thought I had something really wrong--called onc in a panic)--enjoy those 5-minute showers start to finish--no washing hair, shaving legs or pits...jump in shower, wash, rinse, dry, done!   I did experience extreme fatigue.   Best adivce I got from a nurse was to ask dr to fill out form for a temporary handicap parking tag...that was truly a huge help.  With that, I was assigned a handicap parking space at work which meant I parked next to the building and didn't have a mile walk from the lot to my office each day......something you might want to check out if fatigue is a problem you have.

Kathy--good luck tomorrow!!!   That B&B sounds wonderful...doesn't sound anything like my B&B--LOL!!!!   Speaking of which, I suddenly find myself in the middle of a Jaybird renovation....one bathroom mostly gutted to replace an aged shower stall.    What was presented to me by DH as a 1-day event will easily be a week's worth of disruption.   I was ok with it all until I saw the toilet sitting in the garage when I made a "beer run".....as explained to my question, DH said they had to take the toilet out so they could remove that one wall..........and, as I explained back to DH, well then, if I'd known they had to lift that toilet out...I WANT A NEW TOILET!!!!   So, my mission tonight has been to find "the" toilet for DH to go purchase in the morning!!!    The nearest Lowes is about 150 miles r/t, so try to do as much on-line pre-trip shopping as possible.......wow--does Lowes website have toilets to look at!!!  And, mega WOW to the discussions (arguments) we've had tonight about a toilet....aahhhhhhh......

Jocks has filled me many buckets--thanks, darlin'...he's moving them, and me, out to the pool.  He promises a foot rub, perfect temperature in the hot tub, a warm robe to cuddle into, and peaceful dreams!!!   Before I drift off, am pretty please asking NM to find me a power drink to get me through the next few days!!!   Thanks to all for letting me unwind--next round is on me!!!

big huggsss to all, and bottoms up!!!!

Beanius, you might not need anything to cover your head, although with all this rain we've been having I'm not positive on that, because you will likely have hot flashes. I had the same cocktail as you are having and the hot flashes took me by surprise. There are places around here that provide those cute knitted hats - I've even got a few that I need to send on to the next person. Maybe I could get them to you somehow.

kittycat, good luck with your port! I'm so glad you are finding good Drs. I'm still on a hunt for a replacement onc as mine changed his practice location to further away from us.

junie, have fun with the Lowe's shopping. I had to run out to ours tonight - exactly 16 miles round trip! I'd love to replace our toilet but it will have to wait until much further down the list! At least it's still functional. The fixtures and tile in our bathroom are original to our 1960 house! Still in great shape - only a few chips on the tub and sink. When we finally redo this bathroom, the sink will be replaced, as will the toilet and probably the tiles (brown is just not my colour) and I'm going to look into one of those covers for the tub (it's in good shape but brown).

For everyone else, happy drinking, safe sleeping and be happy!

Junie - thanks for the tips.  I'm really hoping for no nausea during chemo.  I might need the handicap parking pass, depending on how I feel.  Yeah, my sister said she didn't have to shave for a year!  Very nice!!!  She did feel like she looked like a "thumb" as she called it - LOL!

AStorm, Congrats on passing with flying colors!!!!! Hip Hip Hooray!!!!

Bean and Kitty, Will be thinking of you both when you start chemo...I didn't have to go that route, but looks like junie filled you in pretty well. Maybe when you start chemo, NM or Dee or Lori can think of a neat "hairless" drink...I used to hear about "hair of the dog"...  WIshing you both the very best!!!

junie, OMG....Can just imagine the words flying back and forth when you found the toilet in the garage.....I hope the renovation will end up a blessing and not a curse! Not fun being inconvenienced like that, but hope it will be finished b4 the next round of guests!!!

Last night was awesome...lots of excellent wine here, then walked to an amazing caribbean restaurant and tried some local beers. No worry about driving home...LOL! Off to Earleen's shortly...can't wait!!!

Kathy, sounds wonderful at the B&B. So glad you got to enjoy that. Not so sure about the fountain tho! That is funny and I bet it makes for lots of smiles! Good luck to you with your tats.

Gail, congrats on passing that test. Way to go!

Hey Connie, hope you are healing and that infection is gone. As for the hot flashes...OMG! Mine are finally starting to settle down a tad. But what pissed me off was, I thought once I was done with chemo, I would be done with them...NOT! But no one told me that.

Bean and Heather, on fatigue, when it hits, if you can...take that nap. If you don't rest, it will catch up with you. Listen to your body. Actually walking and keeping up with a bit of exercise is good for you. Try and get 75 grams of protein a day. Nuts are a good source, but unfortunatly they are rather fattening! Fruits and veggies, I was told to do in rainbows if you can. In stead of eating just one kind, mix it up with different colors. I tried to do protein bars, but just couldn't handle them. They were dry and tasted like cardboard. You can also look into protein drinks. I was also told that yogurt is real good. I passed on that one, can't stomach the stuff.

Junie, happy toilet shopping......LOL. We bought handicapped toilets when we did our house. But we are both tall. Now when I go somewhere and have to sit on a regular toilet, I feel like I am gonna fall and floor!

    HD...where the heck are you?

Dee....miss you girl. Hope you are doing ok......and mom is too.

Nm, Sugar says thank you, but it wasn't necessary!

My son called me last night. His friends mom passed away. I don't know if he was more upset because of her death, or the fact that he still has me. Perhaps both! Think it makes for a huge reality check for the kids. She actually went pretty fast, which I am glad for. No need to be suffering when you know the end is near. Cancer just took over this womans body. Anyways, if you could just a little prayer for her family. Like I said before, I had never met her....I just know her daughter. There are 3 girls total.

    I'll be there! LOL

I think we need a special cocktail for Heather and Beans -- something you can only get at HTL with our fabulous, harmless likr. The "after" cocktail... and we can keep it flowing until they are finished with treatment. We are all here for you anytime you need a shoulder or a glass of something icy and refreshing!

NM, I love that one...the Doggy Pee drink....sooooo funny. I forgot my camera (go figure!), but took a pic w/cell phone...if I can figure out how to download it when we get home, I will try to post it here. Great idea to have a CONGRATS party for AStorm....but I guess a little birdie told her....well she'll proly act surprised anyway!

Gals, Earleen (makeupChickNC) is amazing!!! So welcoming, friendly, caring, and professional! And Kathy that works with her is awesome too! I highly recommend her for not ony tatts, but permanent makeup too...her work is very impressive. So now my tatts done and are bandaged up...will be a few days to see results....so get those teeny tiny drink umbrellas ready, so I can have Pants hold one over each side, and I can lay out in the sun with you all. I am so glad we came here to have this done!!! If you are reading this Earleen, THANK YOU AGAIN!!! I am very pleased.

Keep my barstool waiting for me, I will return to the HTL soon!

Ciao for Niao (taken from Connie!),

Yay!!!   A PARTY!   Lots to celebrate.   Congrats to Gail on passing your test...great morale boost and something to toast to!   Maybe Wahine will drop in and we can toast her new "tats",,,and, we can toast my new toilet!!!   (This one's still in the car; probably won't get installed today.)   Lori--funny about you getting the higher toilets--that's what DH wanted because he is so tall.   That was one of our disagreements--I'm really short and my feet barely touch the floor on those higher toilets.   I told him, no way--sometimes, I need some extra traction.    He told that to the contractors today and he's lucky I haven't killed him yet!   Anyways, looks like these guys are doing a good job--slow, but very perfectionist.

Gonna go grab a nap--see you all at happy hour!!

Toilets, tests, piss, and tats. Oh, I forgot chemo...guess that goes along with piss and toilets!  Good luck to those starting chemo.  You will do fine!  I had the gold plan of chemo TAC X 6 so feel free to vent or ask.  Excellent job on the test AStorm.  I'm proud of ya.  Bring on the party.  By the way, AStorm, did you peek in your Christmas presents before Christmas?  LOL!  NM, you are coming up for a little visit with the scalpel.  I know you must be getting anxious.  Thanks for the drinks!  Lori, you are too busy for me.  I can't hardly move by the time I get home from work.  I can somewhat imagine you like a little gopher out there just throwing and digging dirt!  Wahine, send me an airline ticket in about a year to go see Earleen.  Meanwhile, I'll make sure you get your little umbrellas. Junie, I hope you didn't buy one of those (save the water, save the world) toilets.  I live with a man that needs all the water he can get with a flush.  LOL!  Dee, hopin your doing fine and your mamma too.  Connie, are you off antibiotics so you can drink?  I actually never knew you shouldn't drink with antibiotics.  Guess when I was on them though, I really didn't feel like drinking!  Tit for Tat!  HD

Stopping by for this BIG SURPRISE PARTY! What a little stinker you are Gail!

I am going to make a Tattie Toast, to Tests, Tats, Treatments, Toilets & Traction!

HD....yes, so busy....Darrell and I leaving tomorrow afternoon for Laughlin. We have to leave to get some rest! He also got us tickets to go see Leanne Rhymes. But the concert is at 9pm! Guess we will have to just get schnockered early, take a nap (which we NEVER do) then get up and start fresh. Suppose to be 110 degrees! I can hardly wait!

    ChEARS!

My Happy Hour came early not that it was for happy reasons. I just came in from the pool and a large gin and tonic - I think it helped. So today started Ok. I'm trying to get my two boys ready for camp. So I was doing laundry and decided to soak some dirty tennis shoes. I put them in the laundry sink and then went and washed my hair and played with my son and we listened to music and I straightened my hair and put on makeup and everything. My son goes downstairs to get something and I hear Oh Mom, Oh Mom!!! So ...Yes I left the laundry sink on full blast for what 1-2  hours!! My whole kitchen and den are flooded! the ceiling is a disaster.

I think the worst part is that 3 months before my Mom died of cancer she did the exact same thing - left the sink on in the laundry room and flooded the den and kitchen - just too weird for me. I think  everything is finally hitting me and I'm just so overwhelmed I can't begin to think straight.

Oh Stanzie, That is so sad to have all of that to deal with! Cannot even imagine what a mess that was to clean up, all the while thinking of your mom doing that same thing. The similarities STOP right there! You will be just fine in 3 months, and beyond...your family needs you, so please do not think anything else. Wish we could all just surround you and give you big hugs....here is a start.... (((STANZIE))). I hope you were able to get the other stuff done so your boys will be ready for camp. How long will they be gone? Remember we're here for you.....have a nice stiff drink, ok?

Lori, Hope you have a nice, relaxing trip! I know what you mean; at home it is hard to stop working, so it is really nice to get away from that.

junie, Sounds like you have some pros now to work on your bathroom! Hope they can get it finished asap, and without any "surprises"! Cannot believe your DH told the contractors you need traction sometimes.....OOPS....very embarrasing!!!!! You might need to accidentally push him off the boat on your next outing....NOT really....J/K!!!

HD, Cracked up reading your post! "Toilets, tests, piss and tats!" Boy we really run the gamut on topics, don't we!!!

NM, I know you are anxious for your recon, and having all that BEHIND you!

Has the party started??? I don't want to miss any of the fun! LONG drive tomorrow, but through beautiful mountains, so I'm looking forward to it. I'll eat and drink the leftovers at HTL when I get there....PARTY HEARTY everyone (or potty hearty)!

I almost overslept and missed the dang party!   Jocks, darlin' need my bucket iced down, but first we need some extra bar stools for our newcomers--welcome to the HTL!!  and maybe some extra lounge chairs at the pool...lol--I have an extra "stool" if we need it!  Actually, a friend wants our old toilet for one of his rental houses, so we won't be sending the porcelain throne to the landfill--grateful for that....

Big, but gentle, hugggsss to Stanzie--sounds like you had reason for a meltdown.   Hope all has calmed down--you should see my freak outs when a toilet overflows...can just imagine how I'd be if I'd had your problem.   Hang in there!!

Apple--I recognize your location!  I lived in KC at the time I had my tx--lots of oncs in that area but would be interesting if we'd shared the same onc...mine was Stephenson.

Hey, Wahine--you gonna share pics of your new tats???  lol!!!  You and DH drive safe!

I'm outta here--suddenly is storming like crazy...big rain and lots of thunder.    Maybe I can sneak a ride to Laughlin with Lori--have a fun trip!    later ...  bottoms up!!!!!!!!!

I think the weather will be good for our drive today....will proly get your storms after we get home.....
