how about drinking?

Missing Dee, HD, and NM... Well, thank you to whoever invented the Percotini fountain I know it has brought much relief.
Did someone say B&B? Hey, I know what we should do... I'll bring the bus around and pick up everyone and we can all go to Junie's! I am currently researching spas and B&Bs between Monterey and LA cuz when I take my youngun to Riverside in a couple of weeks I plan to take the LONG way home! I think there are lots of wineries too so I'll bring some treasures back to the HTL.
kathy -- I'm taking a survey... would you say you drank more, less, or about the same during the parenting-a-crazy-teenager years? When we dropped off the car at the body shop and picked up the rental car I told her she is not to actually supposed to drive the rental car and cannot drive the rental car unless there is a dire emergency and neither parent is at home. (It is red so DH won't drive it, and it's a 4-cylinder so not much good to me as I drive the mountains so it should just sit in the driveway.) Well, as soon as I left the house yesterday to go to work she left too and wasn't home until 11PM. Just called home and she is gone again. Guess I need to clarify on the "dire emergency" situation.
stanzie - the last time I moved I was pregnant and did nothing. the baby is now 17 and I hope I never move again cuz I don't want to be pregnant anymore... ever. Yes, these ladies are fabulous! It is a different kind of support than you get from other threads -- kind of like hanging out with your cool, funny and sometimes naughty but always good-spirited friends who also happen to understand.

Lori - Adios, indeed! I'd like two of those but let's see how the first one works out...
Beanie - yes, love this area. We are close enough to San Francisco for day trips and I work in Monterey a lot. I'm a serious foodie (not just the eating part, but I take culinary and wine classes and love to research everything food and where it comes from). We have lots of wineries too.

A-Storm - love the support description! Perfect!!

Beanie-to say that I am estatic is truly an understatement. I feel like I am floating along on a cloud. Considering that my dx was Oct16,my surgery was Oct30,I started chemo Dec18,finished March 25,started radiation May 1 and finished June 18,my life has been a whirlwind. We were very fortunate that all my doctors were such a ggod fit for us and I felt very comfortable with the care I ws being given,we were able to move pretty quickly. I also did Neulasta infusions after each chemo. Not sure if anyone did that route. Taxol was pretty tough for me but was the drug I felt was working the hardest. My husband and close friends threw me a surprise party last Saturday to celebrate end of treatment and boy was the wine and bubbly and the Royal Flushes flowing. It did this and anyone can do. Next up is my appt with me oncologist on Monday to see what is next on my list. He thinks Tamoxafin. I am up for the challange. Cheers!

Only see him 2xyear for "manual" mammo...and this time I got to show off my new tatts!!!

AStorm - I like your bus trip idea, could we all go to the spa and the wineries with you? You are in such a wonderful place. I have fam in Oakland and love to get over to SF when I can. There is so much culture. I always wished I had gone to culinary school instead of chemistry. I love cooking and trying new recipes. I used to do some wine analysis too, but don't know too much about tasting, other than I like what I taste (usually).
miloryder - I get the pic...floating on a cloud...that is so so so wonderful. I'm happy for you beyond belief. So you did all that in 9 months? The stars were definitely lined up right...having found docs that were a good fit is so lucky. I found a lump in Feb, had surgery in March, April and May (lumpectomy, SNB, 2 more lumpectomies & AxLD), oh yeah, and three biopsies and about a zillion other tests that scared the bejeebers outa me...now I think I'll get through chemo by December. So I'm takin' the long way to nirvana...if I'm lucky from here I may get thru rads and onto tamoxifen by Feb '11. (I am lucky cuz after all that they only found cancer in my original tumor and 2 nodes.) I don't know about neulasta. Sounds like a fabulous party for you. Again congratulations!!!! Best of luck with tamox, seems like a lot of women have no problem with it. I've heard it gives you hot flashes. Hot-cha-cha!
wahine - Wow! I'm glad I stopped by for happy hour!!! Forget antiB's, I cant pass up a watermelon margarita. Congrats on signing papers for your parents lake house, that's awesome! BTW we saw news about the oil spill and how badly it's affecting AL coastal businesses. That is so sad. Wish we could get over there to visit and tour the area, it looks beautiful.

Just stopping by for one of those watermelon margarita's Kathy. Hope you have enough to share! Will post more in the morning! Oh..........drink for the day tomorrow?
WATERMELON MARGARITAS, Kathy DH is going to make enough for everyone! Thanks Glen!

LOL...good idea Lori! I should have taken pictures, darn it!!! They WERE good...and sorta healthy too, right? Yup, I'll get him started tonight...we still have 3 more watermelons...silly guy got us 5...and there are 2 of us!!! Since we leave Sat am, we may just cut up the rest and freeze them and be oh so ready to make some more when we return! Can't wait to have Happy Hour at the Lake House....whenever we close, and whenever they can move here. Guess we can enjoy it b4 they get here too....!
Yes Beans, that is such a disaster for the gulf beaches!!! AL has some gorgeous ones....very fine sugar sand...and some areas with dunes, and then the nature refuge at Dauphin Island. My youngest DD went to a Math & Science HS there in Mobile (I let her leave home at 15!!!). It is about a 6-7 hr drive from here to get to the Gulf, and we haven't been there for a couple years. It breaks my heart not only to see the beaches destroyed, but the marshlands, and ALL the wildlife and sealife that will die from it. Just tragic.
Hoping to get together with Stanzie on Sat night in "Hotlanta"! We will have to have a toast to all you wonderful gals here!!!
Ciao for Niao (as Connie says),
Kathy
P.S. Is anyone working on the plans for jaybirds birthday on Sunday (I think!)??? We'll be in St. Thomas, but will definately have a birthday toast to you, Jaybird! Can't wait till I get back on 'puter after our trip and see all the wild fun you all had for her party!

There is no way I can possibly keep up with you wonderful women. AStorm...I don't believe I have ever been missed before. It made me feel kinda happy you mentioned me! It also made me realize I better get my fingers to the keyboard. Thanks!. Bean...you want me to run some of your tests for you....I have access to a GC Mass Spec, an ICP-AES, HPLC, Flow injection analyzers, etc. Nope they won't do any good. The microbiology lab down the hall could probably do any of your dna work, but I wouldn't know what the hell it means. LOL You certainly have a good sense of humor. I hope you get this dang show going. StacyA....ditto for you. Good luck on your trts. Junie...glad you are open for bed and breakfast again. Wish I were there, and glad you survived your trip. Lori....loved the video. I know you are cooking some moonshine in that saloon. Yum....that can curl your hair...not that you probably want that! Fun watching your videos. Kathy, glad you got your paperwork done for your folks, and I am sure you are relieved your parents will be close by soon. Have fun on your vacation. Stanzie...my gawd...hope you and your house survive it all. You are a hoot! Kitty, happy chemo? Lord...I dunno even what to toast to for that. Rest, and stay well. We are all thinking about you. Miloryder, congrats on finishing. You did very well. Ummm....about the Tamoxifen.... I HATE THAT SH!T. NM...my goodness...hope you are home with 6 lovely JP drains, no infections, nice pink tissue, and I a lot of help. Please check in when you can. We are thinking about you. Jaybird...ummm...something in three days has me in the air! Wahooo! Dee, happy, happy Friday tomorrow. I know I have left many out, but the cells in my brain fell mainly down the drain. Chairs! HunkyD

HD, you KNOW we ALL miss you when you are not here posting!!!!! I don't even try to mention everyone's name anymore, as our bar has gotten nice and full. What video did Lori have that I missed? Did I miss the link? Or the missing link? Love your comment about the cells in your drain fell mainly down the drain! I'm not sure I had many to begin with...LOL. Nice to see you back here.....don't be a stranger!!!! One of these days we will all just have to show up at junie's B&B! Ciao~!

Connie, forgot to ask how your new onc appt went? I had to go back some pages but i didn't forget about ya! HD

Kathy, I posted a video of the Old West Town. Must be on page 285. If you and Stanzie get together, one of you better post pictures! So glad your mom and dad are moving closer to you. I know they probably hate leaving Hawaii, but I think its for the best, for everyone. The new house sounds great, and you will certainly be the talk of the neighborhood if you show up with those watermelon margaritas!
Beans, love ur pink bunny.... more than the witch! As far as being annoying.......ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? You fit right in! We are all here for fun. We don't talk much about cancer, unless something is going on with one of us. Such as you and Heather doing chemo, NM getting her recon, or if someone has followup tests coming up, or getting tats! But mostly to have fun and raz the other gals!
Astorm, Junie has the best B&B in the country. Sounds like you could use a trip there! That oldest daughter is sure giving you a time! I can laugh, as mine is grown as well! Give her some of that tough love.
Ryder, congrats on finishing up. It feels so good to be done! Now it just living the rest of your life with follow ups! Are you a biker girl? Gives me that impression with your name my lo ryder. Very nice to have that surprise party! Hope you were able to imbibe on some of that wine and bubbly.
Astorm, I like your bus trip as well. Maybe we can do that for Jaybirds B-day. I hope she shows up, she has been MIA for a bit.
HD, you are a bad bad girl. Don't stay away like that, you are missed. As is Dee and Jaybird. No moonshine yet, but I know DH's mom has some down in TN. But if its gonna curl my hair, I'll pass. Altho, I don't think it can get any curlier!
StacyA, you are having port in on Wednesday? We can all load up on the bus and go with you. We are good about that sort of thing. It is a piece of cake, nothing to get all worked up about. You will just be a little tender and do just fine.
Junie, we know you are busy. Have fun with the family and GK's.
Ok, I am handing out jobs. Drink of the day! I have watermelon margaritas for Friday.
Beans, can you do Saturday.
Astorm, can you do Sunday, for our bus trip and birthday party. Just let the boys know what they need to load on the bus.
I'll do Monday.
Stanzie, Tuesday.
Ryder, Wednesday.
HD, Thursday.
Heather, Friday.
Connie, if you're around, how about Sat.
Kathy and Junie, you are off the hook for now.
I decided to post this evening, as I won't have much time in the morning. Town day. So grab a glass ladies, and fill up on watermelon marg's.
Lordy lordy, how come my posts always end up so long! Whew!

Nice pics Lori, and good work chart for all our drinks! Love the faucet on the watermelon!!! I will have to go back and see that video, thanks for telling me where it is.
AStorm, Sorry....I forgot to answer your survey! Actually I drank less then my girls were teenagers...we had a small farm, but lots of work to do....I would have one drink a night.....maybe two, but not too often. BUT....here's the catch...my youngest who was my wildest, was accepted into the math & science school several hrs away, and since she had skipped a grade, she was just 15 when I let her go there...really like she left home at 15, cause they lived in dorms that weren't too well supervised! So she got to sow her wild oats without me knowing about it! Saved me a lot of grief I am sure! My oldest was a home-body and didn't get into trouble. But when my youngest came home one weekend with a tummy tattoo, it was my oldest DD that got all upset...I just let it roll off my back....it didn't bother me. Neither did the bellybutton piercing, the dyed hair (just a tad darker, not weird color)...............

Lori - don't worry, I like food too much to lose too much weight! I feel almost 100% today. Yeah! I love that drink - AMF!!!! Yiah!!!!
Wahine - my mom's house was supposed to be done in August, but got pushed to September. So, she's staying with us a bit longer.
Beanius - seems like you're taking a unique chemo regimen.

Watermelon margaritas???? Yum! I just bought 2 mini watermelons at Costco today. I will have to try one in a margarita (see Lori - there goes that weight loss)! Cheers!
So, how long do you have to wait from the end of chemo and the beginning of radiation? I am really not excited about radiation. I'm scared of what it will do to my recon that I worked so hard to accomplish - all those TE's torture treatments!!!
Beanius - you are a crack up! Love the funny photos!
So, my sister's wedding is 3 days after my last chemo treatment. And she lives clear across the other side of the country. Ughhh... I hope I can make it. I guess we will have to play it by ear.

WOW.....Lori, your wild west town has really grown!!! Love it! When you get the "Shady Lady Hotel" built, we all need to come and visit...LOL. Really looks neat! Nice to have a bit of shade with the awnings in front of the establishments. Really amazing!
Heather, if you try the watermelon margaritas, cut one in chunks and freeze it, so when its frozen you put that in the blender w/the other stuff....don't add ice....nice and cool and slushy and POTENT! Sorry your mom's home got delayed....nice that she can stay with you, though. Hope the chemo keeps going well, and you are able to tolerate it ok!

Ok, I'm in (for Sunday)!

I'm Back!
Heather, glad you are feeling well enough to have a margarita, hell...have 2! Sisters wedding on the dreaded day 3 after chemo...and your last chemo. I hope you can go and are feeling up to it. Is this the sister in NY?
Kathy, I don't have any tats, but I do have a belly ring. Got it when I was 40 tho, not 15. I don't think they did that sort of thing 37 years ago!
I was informed we are leaving this morning and won't be back until Sunday! I was also NOT told where we are going. Nor do I know if we will be taking a computer. So I may have LOTS of catching up to do when I get back.
Everyone have an awesome weekend.
CHAIRS! (lol, where'd that come from HD?)
P.S. Thanks for all the town comments. It is so much fun, and we really like it.

Hmmmmmmm.......sounds like quite a romantic weekend your DH has planned, Lori! My DH did that once...even had me blindfolded for the almost 2 hr car trip and I had NO idea where we were going. It turned out to be a historic B&B in the quaint town of Lynchburg (where they make Jack Daniels)....even had a horse and buggy ride lined up for the next morning. It was fun! I am anxious to know where you will be going, but what a fun adventure!!! Can't wait to hear all about it! Have a great time!!! (He must have known you already had our drink of the day lined up, or else we would have had to keep you here...LOL).
Morning everyone! Hope it turns out to be a real nice day for all. NM, still VERY anxiously waiting to hear how you are doing! Sending you gentle hugs (((NM))), and lots of get well wishes.
Chairs,
Kathy

Just a quick pop in to say WELCOME to the new posters and HI to everyone!!! Have quickly scanned the many posts, but won't get fully caught up for several weeks. Really enjoying the visit from this group of grandkids--they are so sweet--7 and 9--the perfect ages!!!! Finally got out on boat with them yesterday but so hot--thought I'd have heat stroke! Planning things for today that include A/C.
Kitty--did want to say that a week or so after my last chemo I flew half-way across country for a week-long training class. I got in the pre-boarding line (health reasons) One flight attendant gave me a hard time but I didn't budge. Once on the plane, I pulled off my scratchy wig and put on a bandanna. When the flight attendant came through the cabin and saw me bald, boy did he feel bad!!! I started rads a week after I got back home. If you are really fatigued, you can also request wheelchair assistance to get to gates. And, you might consider wearing a face mask--airports and airplanes are really germy places!!! Good luck!!!
Sending hugs to NM--hope to see you check in soon.
For everyone who can't drink just now, I'll gladly take up the slack for you! Been so hot, those ice-cold MLs sure do taste good! Gonna grab a quick cold one, then off to enjoy the grandkiddoes!!!! will check in later with you all!!!!

Kathy - wow what a lovely thing for your hubby to do! The watermelon margaritias sound heavenly - I'll have to try when my 12 year old daughter isn't around as she would Looove to try that! I made the mistake of making her virgin daqueries and virgin pina colatas and would make ones with liquor for the adults - well she asked for a sip or two then I'd find that she would empty the dregs out of the blender and know just begs for a small "real one!" going around telling her friend how great rum is wasn't my idea of how she described home with mom!
Love the pink bunny beanius! I'm going to learn how to post pictures. My daughter said Oh Mom, it's so easy! So hopefully she will give me some direction!
NM - hope you are doing OK and will be back soon.
Kitty so glad your chemo seems to be going OK. I never knew that about flying and such. I know we did that with my mom when she was sick and elderly but never thought about it otherwise.
Junie- have fun with your grandkids! I know your children really appreciate the extra help and support.
Goldie - Wow, have a wonderful time!! Can't wait to hear all about it! And hopefully I'll be a picture posting mainiac by then! Or at least get one up for Tuesday!

I'll pick up Saturday - YIPPEE!

Ok I got photobucket. So confused. I did get a picture of Liesl ( my dachsund) to post but it was tremendous and didn't think anyone would appreciate that. So you size pictures???
Also found the link to my pictures but you insert them??
How on earth do you cleaver females do these pictures??? I am just stumped. My daughter couldn't get it either. I'm ususally Ok with computer things but this???
And what is a clipboard? Thanks, would love to try and post something fun on Tuesday in N.M and Goldie's absence and would love to show off my beautiful bebe but I'm lost......

It IS hard, for me at least, to post pics here. Sometimes I can, and sometimes I can't...weird. Seems to depend on the picture. But I know other gals here are experts at it, so hope they will chime in. You could copy it and see if it will paste here at a decent size (Preview your post before submitting), allow it to copy to clipboard here (I think that is the phrase that pops up!). OR you can always post the link to the photo on photobucket. Whichever works. If you want to send it to my email I will try to post it for you (notice the word "try"!). And hopefully I will meet darling Liesl in person tomorrow!!!

ok I got the drink for the day on Wednesday-something in honor of Wahine and her St Thomas trip.
Goldie-actually Miloryder is my yellow lab. I named him Milo and Jeff,my hubby thought it would be funny to have him middle name Ryder-so Miloryder. But I like the bike girl. I think I will let her be my alter-ego. Party was a blast. We have a friend who offer up his restaurant and 2 friends that have bands that played. People are truly amazing and we have been so fortunate. It was a great weekend as we have friends that came from out of town and we partied like it was 1999.
Beanius-I guess the starts were so lined up for me. Everything moved very fast for me. I don't know if I was at the right place at the right time but I had my diagnostic mamm done,my ultrasound and core biopsies done on 3 tumors the same day. I went to an awesome Women's Imaging Center. My PC called me with the results the next evening. The results were sent to 2 different labs. He had an appointment sent up with an oncologist and a surgeon for the end of the week, I went through every test,MRI,CT,Nuclear testing you can think of the next 2 weeks. I was told over and over that there was no lymphnode involvement but me surgeon really felt there was something more to it so I ended up having a rad right mx and aux lymphnode dysection. They removed around 50,tested 21 and was pos in 3. So glad she was pesistant. I did 3 weeks of rehab 3 time a week, started chemo for 4 months and 33 rad treatments. I won't be able to start recon until 1 year from Oct. I am fine with the fake boob until then. I know this is along post but my point is all this is very doable. We were lucky to have a surgeon friend who guided us through the process but we were very comfortable with our choices and the care I was receiving. It's so important to feel that your drs are a god fit for you. Every case is differnet. I's so glad that I was able to forge ahead. Did I really post all that??
Hunkydory-thanks for the input ablout Tamoxifin. I'm still not sure. I see my oncologist Monday to chart my next course. I have to say I have heard more bad than good about Tamox. We'll see. We'll see.
This is an awesome site-I'm so glad I found it. It's litlle belling up to the bar with a group of your close friends. My fingers are tired and I need to rest them. We are going to a Spanish wine tasting tonight and I need to be in top fo

Lots to toast to tonight, during Happy Hour! DL just upgraded our seats to 1st class...yay! And I should get to meet Stanzie tomorrow night...double yay! And Miloryder gave me tons of tips and hints on what to do/where to eat, drink, etc. in St. Thomas..triple yay (triple play???)!!!
Miloryder, Sounds like that was a great partay!!! And tonight you get to taste Spanish Wines....sounds like a fun evening!
Jaybird, where are you? At home, or in some other country sampling some exotic wine or local beer???? Hope Avery is doing great!

Hi Stanzie. I will try to help. It is not hard to post pics already on the internet, but when I use photos I have taken myself and are saved on my computer, I used Photobucket as my server source. You can join that for free which you already have. Upload the photos into Photobucket that you want to use. Then, after you have succesfully uploaded to photobucket, while still in Photobucket select the photo. You can resize the photo using photobucket if you want by clicking on the picture. You will see a resize tab on top. Click on that and then click (more options). The size is in pixels...pick something like 600 or less. The width box will fill in itself keeping the aspect ratio correct. After you are done resizing, save it. Under each photo there will be a box that says share this image. Select the second option down that says direct link, and hit copy. It will be a http: link for your photo. (See below)
Then, in BCO Post a Reply box...click the little tree icon up left of the icon.It will say insert edit image. (See below)
Place your cursor in the box that says Image URL and hit paste (Cntrl V) and your http:/imgage link whatever the name will show up in there. Then under the Alignment options in the same window I usually choose left. Don't worry about the dimensions because you have already resized them with the correct aspect ratio in photobucket. Then just hit insert and see what you see. You might have to play around a bit with it for size options. If it doesn't work...try again....none of us mind..... BCO is set up so that you can't put a photo in a message here from your own hard drive like you can with the avatars. The pic has to be on a server somewhere or internet link to one. Go for it, gawd...I probably confused you. I confused myself...I need a drink...Pau Hana! Chairs! HunkyD0 -
WOW HD, those are GOOD directions on how to post. I just copied it so I will have it too.Sometimes I can just copy a pic from somewhere and paste it here, and sometimes it won't work at all, no matter what I do. So, I am glad to have your instructions!!!! Hope Stanzie can post a pic of her doggie now!
You're right...Pau Hana, Chairs!
