LOL! Thanks, Ladies, for all the B-day wishes! I'm in the dumps today, being all emotional, and you really have lifted my spirits! And in turn lifting a spirit (JW Blue) to all of you!
I know being 50 isn't the biggest 'thing' in the world but I thought at least I'd be doing something with friends but they've all flaked-out on my b-day weekend and have to either work or can't come over. So now the tentative plan is to just hang out with my daughter and take her out to either lunch or dinner on Sunday and do some shopping at IKEA. Not so bad since my daughter is my life, she gives me purpose, and I wouldn't have her if not for BC so an emotional time for me for sure. I'm at the 5-year mark for completing chemo so a big b-day for that reason also.
Again, I raise my glass in salute to all the brave and wonderful women here! Thanks SO much for the b-day wishes, they mean SO much to me! but also
Cheers! (chairs!)
p.s. LOVE all pooch pics!

Jaybird, I wish you had been here in Hotlanta tonight to eat the WONDERFUL dinner that Stanzie prepared! Then it would have been a perfect birthday celebration for you. You know we all love you and send you tons and tons of best wishes!!! Nice that you can spend time with Avery this weekend, as she is so very special to you. Congrats on the 5 yr mark from chemo.....YAY!!!!
Gals, Stanzie is amazing, and it was so great to get to know her! She made us feel like royalty, and we sure put away a lot of good wine too! And did I mention the dessert??? I think we need to see if she will share some recipes with the HTL staff, as she is such a good cook! Stanzie, thank you again for such a wonderful evening, and I am so glad we got to meet!!!
Off to St. Thomas in a few hours....gotta get some shut-eye! Great comments gals, on WHY we are on this thread, and have our great Hot Tatties Lounge. I love your comments Gail, and also Lady_Madonna....spot on! Hoping for sunny weather, but I think the island has rain, rain, and more rain in the forecast....
CHAIRS!

Pack your bags, lounge lizards! I've hi-jacked the bus for a couple days--having it fitted with wings. Everybody pack a bag and we're picking Jaybird up and heading to Venice to celebrate her birthday and PARTAY!!! First stop is drinks at a lovely outside cafe at the base of the Rialto Bridge. Next is a gondola ride around Venice with the gondoliers singing "O Sole Mio" to all us lovely ladies. Next stop is the Piazzo San Marco. We'll ride up to the top of the bell tower and watch the as the setting sun casts its' magical glow over all of Venice. Gourmet dinner on the square (we'll feed any leftovers to the pigeons!). Then, we'll sit and drink fine Italian Wine (or drink of your choice) and listen to live classical music. Next, we'll waddle to the water taxis and head back to our fabulous hotel overlooking the Grand Canal where we all have luxury suites.....and we will continue toasting Jaybird and having a great ParTay!!!! And, there will be a wonderful nanny to entertain Avery and take her back to the hotel if she gets tired before we do....
Jaybird--have a wonderful birthday!

I'm hoppin' on the bus!!! Venice is the perfect place to celebrate! Just drag me along to all the sights and throw me into the arms of a handsome gondolier!0

Happy Birthday Jaybird!!! And Happy Chemoversary, too! We definitely need to partay for your birthday!!
Dee is back!!! Yeah!!!
Lori - it sounds like you're having fun in Phoenix!
So, I think doing housework during cancer treatments is more "stupid" than having a glass of wine (which, by the way, I had a nice glass of Pinot Grigio yesterday). My body is sore from mopping and vacuuming! I cleaned out my bathroom cabinets (which I thought were organized) and found enough old MAC make up to get 5 free items with MAC's recycle program. While my husband and our friends watched the UFC fight at a bar, I went shopping for free makeup! Then asked the girl about helping me apply false eyelashes if I lose them during chemo! . Then because I only had one "stupid" glass of wine over the course of 6 hours, I drove my DH home (he is now wishing he hadn't drank so much). LOL!
Melanie - I was at Town Square. I thought of you, when I walked past the Apple Store. Those new I-Phones look pretty cool. I'd get one if my Blackberry and service wasn't free!0 -
Dear Beauties at the Lounge, I've been lmao over some of these comments, AStorm, Lady M, Dee - perfect responses to the old bag who would rip on our PAR-TAY without having a clue what it's about. AStorm I love the kitty cupcake pic, that is so cute, and Dee that flying dog is sumpin special! These are soo nice for Jaybird's Happy Birthday Parteee. Jaybird - I was sorry to hear you're feeling a little blue on yer birthday and glad the HTL party has brightened the day. Big Huge Congratualtions too for 5 year chemoversary - hurray! Wahine & Stanzie - how fun your get together sounds, please share recipes when you can. Junie - I'm on the bus and ready to go - let's PARTAY - great trip plan, I love it, I bet the food and drinks will be fabulous! Kittycat -you made me laugh with your housework comments, and good job with FREE makeup, how fun.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAYBIRD & CONGRATUALTIONS!
Have a fabulous Sunday!

Or maybe the hit-and-run attacker got to some of us... hope not. I generally welcome a respectful debate as I am always interested in how people reach different positions when we all possess the same information.

Yoooo....chicas! What's up? How's everyone's Sunday evening???
So, since I won't have hair in 3 days, I am thinking about cutting my hair shoulder length on Tuesday. I want to see how my hair will look shorter. I think it would be fun! I looked into donating my hair, but there are so many rules (and mine is colored permanently and I have a lot of grays). Plus, I am barely at 10 inches on the bottom (that's their minimum). So - fogetaboutit! LOL!
I'm glad you guys had fun meeting up this week! So fun that some of us can get together! One of these days we will have to meet somewhere in the middle!

Hi Everyone,
Kittycat, I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing on Thursday cutting my hair to between my shoulder and ear length. Should be interesting but when it comes to hair I'm always up for an adventure. I think working for Aveda has really helped to not care as much as I've been experimenting with different hair systems the entire last 12 years sense I started working there.
Tonight I had a wonderful Riesling. Now I'm hoping to actually get some sleep. I've not been sleeping well at all lately, I know I'm just nervous about chemo coming up.
Happy Sunday to all and I hope you enjoyed yourself this weekend

Well lets start the day off with our drink of the day. RED DEVIL I believe Kitty will be having hers as well.
Fragoli Red Devil 1 1/2 oz. Toschi Fragoli Liqueur 1/2 oz. Chambord Raspberry Liqueur 1/2 oz. Vodka
Shake with ice and strain into a shot glass. (I opted for a different glass)OMG - LMAO Dee...so glad I didn't have a mouthful of coffee, or I would have pulled a Junie and spewed it all over my laptop! And then LadyM chiming in.......too funny! Jaybird, Happy Belated Birthday. I know you and Avery had fun together, and there is NO WAY your friends could have topped Junies Par -Tay for you. Not sure if you remember, but I spent my 50th in the air on my way for chemo treatment. And also a big congrats on the 5 yr mark.Kathy and Stanz, one of you girls BETTER post some pics. So glad you guys got to do that.Lots of good pics, lots of fun, lots of great girls. I LOVE THIS BAR! Toby Keith-eat your heart out! It's Monday, lets make it a great week!0 -
Looks like I missed my first canceversary on Saturday. I think that's a good sign.

Happy Monday everyone! For those of you pondering over the hair issue, cutting it is really the way to go. I thought I would be the one whose hair wouldn't come out but boy what a mess when it did start coming out. It started with the A/C but the Taxol really completed the job. I went the shaved route since I was scalp anyway. I joked that my new hair color was skin. My last chemo was March 25th so mine is just now coming back in but strangely enough it is black?? Just have fun and be adventurous. I got a good report from my oncologist this morning so we are also off to St Thomas as well.I am printing the recipe for the Red Devil to take with me. It looks wonderful. Everyone have a great day and Happy Belated Birthday Jaybird! Everyone be carefu out there.

AStorm - That is a good sign (Happy Cancerversary anyway) - Good Job!
miloryder - Have a great trip and you be safe too!
Well, it's official...I DO NOT start chemo tomorrow...turns out the Oncotype results will be sent to my oncologist Wed afternoon and since I have the antiB's till Thurs it's all been put off until next Tues, July 6. I'm afraid you will not believe me that it could be put off again, but my life is "TRUTH, STRANGER THAN FICTION." I sorta don't care any more...Think I need a stronger Shirley Temple. Ah, heck, forget the Shirley Temples, I'm definitely going for that Red Devil drink! Thanks goldie, it's perfect.
As miloryder said, everyone be careful out there! Cheeeers!!!

I'm back! (sort of)
Just a quick note to say I got home last Friday. Surgery came out fine but took 18 3/4 hours-a "bit longer than expected" but I am thriled with the results. Got 4 drains in, hoping a couple come out when I see Dr. Tobias on the 1st. The pathology on the removed breast was clean. The "abnormal but stable" spot was, as hoped, and old biopsy site. Oh, and I weighed 232 pounds on June 21, and 219 this morning!
I'll sart wroking on catch up reading when I feel a bit more securely connected to planet Earth, but I did want to say Hi and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!
0 -
Great to hear from you, NM! So happy that you are pleased and the pathology was clear. Almost 19 hours -- my aren't you glad they put us to sleep? Hope the surgeon took some breaks. Geez! I lose about 5 pounds each time I have surgery -- was down 20 from last year but just gained 5 probably from all these decadent libations. Don't worry, that weight will come right back as soon as you start drinkin! And would you believe Beanie still has not started chemo?

Beanius, Kittykat- How did I miss this thread? I should have known you two would find the girls who know how to have fun! I'll be checking this out now!

Hi Ladies,
Just a quickie, classes are keeping me super busy! But I'm learning stuff. Some of it I don't want to learn but I'm learning it anyway!
Happy birthday, cancerversary (I've got one coming up next month - more on that later) and sorry to Beanius for not starting chemo. Celebrate keeping your hair a little longer!!!
I saw my new oncologist last week (my old one moved his practice 1/2 hour further away from us) and he's suggested I go onto progesterone instead of gabapentin for the hot flashes. So I haven't had a good sleep since Thursday - the gabapentin was definitely doing some control as they almost immediately got worse! Now I'm waiting to see if the prog is going to work. I hate being that hot!!
Went to an awesome seminar on the weekend with my husband...we learned about lymphedema, nutrition (well, only learned that Dr has radically different points of view from us), exercise, mental health and the most important one, sexual health! Good information and decent lunch, too.
Anyway, supposed to be studying. I'll catch up with you all later!
Happy drinking!
Connie

BRCA negative- YAY!!!
Have to run, just couldn't wait to share some great news!!

Yay, Lady M! I texted my daughters when I got my results.
Love the new photo, Heather.
Lori, I need a good stiff drink tomorrow morning as I have a pelvic ultrasound which will most likely lead to something more invasive since everyone seems to think my entire body is toxic just cuz of one little lump... ok, 2 little lumps.
