Janie - which coast are you off to? Don't you love vacation? Have a great time!!

Shel - sorry you're going through a rough spot. I never had expanders, but did have a husband.

Kat - welcome to the club!!

Yesterday, BF and I made a big pitcher of painkillers made with Pusser's Rum, toasted coconut and fresh grated nutmeg. Yummy!! Put the TV music on the Reggea (SP?) station and pretended we were on an island somewhere!.

It's 150 degrees here today in Oklahoma.

    Cheers!

    Oh, my, gawwwddddd!
I've spent the last coupla hours reading this thread---kept meaning to find it every time Janis mentioned it. I'm HOME!
This is really my kinda place!
May I join if I provide a recipe for 'Knock You Nekkid" Tennessee Long Island Tea?

5 oz. each of rum, vodka, tequila and gin

    30 oz. of orange juice

    10 oz. of coca cola

    2 1/2 oz. of grenadine

1/4 to 1/2 cup of sugar.

    Makes one half gallon.
serve in large cup with lots of ice!

This stuff goes down like red pop and you will never know it's booze, it just tastes SO good!

I've copied and sent some of the jokes from this thread and cannot wait to hear back from my friends --
Thank you all for some of the best laughs I had in a LONG time and my eyes are still tearing and my dh thinks I've lost my mind! (but they know me here, honey)

Here's one for each of you---"chin-chin"

Looks like I've found my way home, and didn't even know I was lost!

I love wines! We have a huge wine closet, and it's a blast picking something to go with a meal, or a snack, or whatever! Nothing really high-end or collectible, just a lot of California wines that we dearly love.

And, nothing beats a very dry Bombay Sapphire martini in an icy glass! Unless, on 100+ degree days like today, it's a cool vodka gimlet.

But it's so hot today I've been craving a frozen drink. So this evening I'll see if I have the fixings for a pina colada...

    Cheers, ladies!

I haven't been here in "drinking land" for a few weeks, and I've missed it! We're starting 2 weeks of vacation so between Dotti's "knock you nekkid" Tennessee Iced Tea and Anne's bombay sapphire martini in an icy glass, I think I'm set!! If I drink that I probably won't be able to move for 2 weeks! Bliss!!

By the way Dotti, there is no "admission fee" to join this thread, but if there was? That recipe would definitely do the trick!!

It's hot everywhere it seems and something cold sure hits the spot. Hope everyone else is staying cool (inside & out!).

    Oh, I forgot the recipe you'll need for the next morning;

    Coonass (LA) Bloodies:

3 bottles of Mr and Mrs.T's bloody mix

    1 5th of vodka

    1/4 cup worchestershire

    1 tsp.garlic salt

    1 tsp.celery salt

    2 limes juice

    2 lemon's juice

    Tobasco to taste.

Mix the night before in gallon jug, adding celery stalks to the gallon along with slices of lemon and lime.

You will be praising the angels the next morning when you drink it. (and you won't give a damn where your undies are)

ROFL @ Dotti!! I am still laughing but have noted the "remedy" for the morning after...maybe if I'm not wearing undies the night before I won't need to worry about where they end up!! One less thing to deal with!!

Hey! Seems like you ladies haven't missed me one bit!

Spent today sunning and funning with my family. My dad & step-mother live on a river which is connected to a chain of lakes so we did the boating thing. Last night I got together with some co-workers for a ladies night and it was nice to not drink alone but damn did I get drunk on 2 1/2 glasses of wine. WTF? I'm blaming the Tamoxifen.....

Oh, and welcome to the newbies!

And Dottie, you can come over any time - and bring your cocktails! My yard is fenced so no worries about getting lost!

Hey Janis: Of course you were missed. I have been out doing things myself and have enjoyed a glorious 4 days off.

Shel: where will you be in Chicago on Wednesday and Thursday? Downtown or a suburb?

Dotti: the recipes are great. Gonna try both of them. Oh how I love Long Island Ice Tea and bloody mary's.

I must Admit, Im still recovering from partying hardy on Saturday. So today, will be swimming all day and getting ready to go back to work.

And I cant believe I am already talking about drinking. Its only 6am here. Geez!

Hope you have a great time, but what is "black pearl oil"?

Pizza: the food of life! Pizza Uno's is the only Chicago pizza I've had and it was out of this world. HUGE. DEEP(umm, does that belong on the mojo thread?)

Maybe the Black Pearl Oil belongs on the Mojo thread too!

Pizzeria Uno is like the chain of Chicago style pizza. Good, but it's like saying Olive Garden is the best Italian restaurant. Very good, if there are no other choices. Let's hear for the independant restaurant owners! I can't help but think of all the neighborhood hardware stores, put out of business by Home Depot and Lowes... Maybe this belongs on the Debate forum?

Shel- don't forget a Chicago Dog, you can get one 24hrs a day.

ok tooooooooooo hot even for this sun worshipping fool!!!!!!

you guys are hilarious.......that oil is stuff from mexico......wicked tanning oil, but could serve as a "mojo" aid lol! as a matter of fact thanks for the "idea" ha ha!

christine......chicago dog huh? ok i'll give one (or 2) a whirl..........and i don't eat "chain pizza" either, i agree with all that you said.........i'll wait until my little local hardware store opens up the next morning before i'll go to a big chain type store......my mom and dad were/are big advocates of that type of thing!

ok rambling now, probably have friggin heat stroke lol!

shel - soooohot here too. 100 degrees farenheit! Yikes. Yesterday on my float in the pool had two beers and had to go in the a/c. I am getting some good color finally.
It was 125 degrees F. on the (Cardinals)baseball field, I gave away tickets for the games yesterday and tonight. Who wants to sit in that heat and drink $7.50 beers?

    Hey Ladies,

Been off this site for awhile - had a PAC installed and WTF??? It hurt more the first week than when I got operated on my breast!!

During my 2nd chemo treatment, blew a vein and have phlybitis - this is why the PAC for the next treatments and meds!!

And to top things off, I have to give myself injections for the next 6 weeks because of the phlybitis!! I hate needles and just thinking about it, I think I need a drink!!

Anne - I've got a bottle of Bombay Sapphire in my bar, what else goes into the martini?

Janis - do tell, SCOTCH is my drink - love the stuff!
'Balvenie' is scotch from where? Like to try a new one. Never heard of it!

It's been so hot here too, think I'm going to go for those marguerita's tonight, anyone have a good recipe - got a craving for them and it's only 8:45 a.m.!!!!

I usually just buy a bottle of Jose's premixed at the liquor store (only place in TN to get stuff) and add a little more tequlia to it and some fresh lime.
    VERY good and little trouble.
    Another way is :
    One can frozen lime juice
    Refill can with tequila
Mix both in blender with ice
    Instant frozen margie!
I'm sure there are more great things to put in them, I'm just lazy and go the easiest route to get my lime and tequila.
This time of year, I crave Sangria! Cooling and doesn't heat up my hot flashes.
I have made my own from scratch but learned that the bottled stuff is pretty good with a splash of OJ, sparkling water and lime is a good way to go too.
I have made it at the beach with 2/3cheap red wine, 1/3 5 alive mixed juices, lime and lots of ice. Have even frozen it overnight to take to the beach in my sipper.
MMM-light buzz on the beach--hey, maybe that's the new name of my drink!

Jose's premixed premium with Grand Marnier over crushed ice is the best. You don't even have to add anything to it.

Okay, back from vacation. Tried to stay away from this site, but miss all of the fun. Didn't do too bad on vacation. Didn't gain any weight, thank goodness. I guess all of the bike riding and walking evened out with all of the beer and cocktails.

I see some yummy new recipes I might have to try out. What is Bombay Sapphire? Is it sweet or tart? Bloody Mary's from scratch are the best, but Mr. and Mrs. T's Bold and Spicy mix is good when you're camping or on the go.

Any idea why it's been so bloody hot everywhere? My mom called from Anchorage and said that it was 80 over there. We were in Yosemite Valley yesterday and it must have been over 100. Heard it was 115 here where I live while we were gone. Somehow we always pick the right week to be gone...

Well, party on girls... It's good to be home...

    Hey Lini57,

Bombay Sapphire is a vodka and I don't really drink vodka so don't know what to do with it but Anne was talking about a Dry Bombay Sapphire martini and with all this heat it sounds so good!!!!

Anyhoo, ran out of tequila, got a craving for marguerita's so it's off to the liquor store tomorrow a.m.!!!

Shel I was reading about the problems with the DH. I hear ya, they just don't understand!! I've learnt, most of the time, to keep my mouth shut and agree with him. It's not worth the bitching and complaining because my guy is like Dr. J and Mr. H. One minute he's a royal condescending pain in the A$$ and the next minute he's so sweet!! Oh well, such is life!! How does it go, during the good and the bad, in sickness and health... blah, blah, blah!! I've known my guy all my life (since I was born actually), so I can read him like a book!! In the end, I know he's just worried about me, is looking out for me and deep down he's scared to lose me.

Enough of that, a night cap and then to bed! Nite ladies!!
