Ah girls, it's only 10:30am here. It's hard for me to even post on this thread so early. Now on vacation, around 1pm, I'd say "It's 5 o'clock somewhere"

I love vodka, wine, and beer.
Thank the Lord, the weekend's here!

Let's raise our glasses full of wine,
I've got one in each hand - is that a bad sign?

    I'm a poet and don't know it.

    Cheers sistas!

TGIF! I'm home and just starting to enjoy the evening. With a glass of pinot grigio of course.

"Here's good health to your enemies, enemies." Thats a wee bit of dark Irish Humor. Hubby says its famous.

"May your friendships bind you, good fortune find you, and all your cares be left behind you." (I like that one much better).

    Cheers!

Oh, I feel for you. Have a 21 year old daughter. Getting her from 13 to 18 without killing each other was the pits. That's about the time I picked up drinking again.

oy, i'll take the sympathy lol! she's a good kid, but a boyfriend??????? and you should have been there for the intro!!!!!

"alex, this is my mom, her name is michelle, but my grandparents always called her shelley, so my dad shortened it up to 'shel'......her hair is super short because of that cancer i told you about, but isn't she (meaning me)sooooo cute? she's cool you'll like her"

now this was about a zillion words per minute out of her mouth, i'm trying not to bust up laughing as two 13 year olds are towering over me and HOLDING HANDS!!!!!

then alex says "pleased to meet you SHEL.......mac has told me so much about you......i'm glad you're doing well"

so he carries all my kids bags to my jeep, loads them in, opens my door, i get in, they KISS (on the cheek), hug for 2 years, then i drive the lovesick 13 year old home......with "their song" on repeat for the whole 75 kms!

sorry had to get that off my chest lol.......i need a few drinks, alex is coming over for a bonfire.........O M G!!!!!

Oh shel - that's too funny! You deserve a cocktail for sure! He sounds like a polite young man.

I'm sure having teenagers is a trip. Can't even imagine! Although I do have faint memories of being one...

    Cheers!

Shel! Been there, done that with my DH's daughter (she's now 20) but when younger she did the same thing when she brought her 1st boyfriend home.... talking a mile a minute and my DH and I were trying to keep our straight faces - what a joke! Ah, the good old days - can laugh at it now!

    Good luck!

Shel- Don't mean to creep or freak you out, but I met my husband when I was 14 years old and in the ninth grade. We've been together ever since. It freaked my kids out so much that they didn't have a serious relationship until their 20's. Hopefully, this is just a passing fancy and she'll be on to many others.

Oh, Lord, I was really worried my dgtr. would not LIVE to make it to maturity. I knew I'd live, but was truly unsure I would not kill her!
From 14 to 16 she was absolutely intolerable. My dh wanted her to come out of her room for some time other than supper. She had no TV, but did have her own phone. I said just let her stay in there as long as she wants, that way I don't have to listen to her whine and bitch.
Well, by the time she became human and we began to have a relationship again it was time to ship her off to college. Boy that was SO hard, much harder than I had ever dreamed. I missed her so much I would lie on her bed and cry. I'd sneak extra phone calls to her several times a week and that helped cause NOW she wanted to talk about Everything .
    .
and wanted advice out the wazoo.
She's 37 now, changed careers 2 years ago and dropped her long time boyfriend who couldn't commit. She's dating others and so happy with her own business.
I am so proud of her courage and also of my son's, who is 34. Now if I could just get them married off and get a few grand kids, instead of grand dogs and grand kitties, I'd be much happier. LOL

I'm here but only for a few minutes. An unexpected visit from an out-of-state g/f who needs me to take her to the airport tomorrow at 5:30 as a friend of hers died this week in VA. So, a little wine before 4 hours of sleep and then more work tomorrow! I think I might be too tired to drink tomorrow but I'm gonna try!

p.s. to Shel: I had no idea what a guy was at age 13 but by the time I was 16 OMG! And I turned out okay (I think). And look at Dotti's kids. They turned out okay (I think).

Shel- OMG thinking of me at 13,
all my g/f were 2 yrs older, how did my mom allow that? Well, I am glad she did. The one friend is still my dearest (after 38 yrs of friendship, I was 6 when we moved 2 doors down)
I was grinning ear to ear reading your post about the intro.

not my favourite dotti, but my "limey" hubby loves them.......its very british! it's kinda "bittersweet"....mike likes them made with lemon/lime soda instead of the new age 7up method......he also really likes drambuie so if you've tasted that you can make the connection lol......the cucumber part is "interesting" tasting though.

btw........congrats on that mammo and i could've been your dtr at 14.........i lived in my bedroom too!

It's only 6 pm here. My hubby has been flipping through the remote all day. He keeps stopping at the Brady Bunch. It's 108 degrees and too hot to go out. Sad, but true life of mine.
